    This is really nice! Because in reality, most of us doesn't go off road. We need the comfort and ergonomics of a adventure bike but the handling of a naked sportsbike. Also that green looks so pretty!

    Already own the DE and it is a very fun bike to ride on road as is, but this RE should be even better. Still wish it had a cruise control, but never hurt my wrist over the last 40 years to twist a throttle.
    I really like that steel green color too on that RE.

      I'm 37. My wrists are killing in journeys over an hour long. I bought the 22 s1000rr for short rides and fun but still use the cruise control a lot. If this bike or the Transalp had cruise control, I would have bought one in a heartbeat for touring duties.

    Great bike. Suzuki really made huge progress since 2023. I always loved their engines and comfort but last years with no TFT, less equipment bikes were not so... So when hey added that I bought a 2023 1050 regular and I love it. Put an Akrapovic on and you have a great sounding bike that drives sporty, and has great TFT, quichshifter that makes a ride in Alps fun.

    This rider’s friendly aides came to stay. It’s an evolutionary consequence. Years ago, no one was measuring this kind of tech possibilities. But once a brand puts it out on the market it’s natural that people want to see that function ready to use on a new bike. It’s like on the premium segment, the blind spot detection feature, cornering abs or cornering lights. They’re not essential for the bike to function properly but they give the rider a better riding quality and performance, turning every journey easier. And so, it’s understandable that people start valuing that benefits when they’re choosing a new machine. Heated grips is another comfort feature very welcoming from the bikers community and it really is a nice thing to count with. Wind protection is another key feature to get whenever you go out riding on highway or longer rides👌🏻

    I personally wouldn't have minded if it was still the same price as the DE variant. And kept fully adjustable suspension (at reduced travel height of 170mm). Gained cruise control and had some more appealing paint schemes. But I know this wouldn't be as good for pushing sales.
    After owning large adventure bikes with 21" wheels I much prefer this this sort of bike. More road biased with the ability to cruise along some slightly rough fire trails. I'll keep the 21" front for smaller bikes.

    I may have missed it but you didn't mention the shorter wheelbase, or did you? The different rake angle of the front forks would shorten the wheelbase. That would affect the handling a fair bit. It is also shorter than the 650. I have ridden the 800DE and it is a wonderful bike. Very confidence inspiring and more fun than my Transalp 750, sorry Honda but it's true. Really looking forward to riding the 800RE. My Suzuki dealership are very confident that they will sell loads of RE's and I have to agree. Well done Suzuki. Why is it an SE in Europe? (I think).

    The 19" front is so much better than a 21" on the street and of course it has tubeless tires - this is the one most of us should want. This seems like a very nice package with a nice TFT dash and sweet power train, but the lack of cruise is a huge miss on any ride by wire equipped bike that has any sort of of distance riding aspirations. Cheaping out on the suspension by removing the adjustability feature sucks too.

  • @easyesky6646

    I will echo some of the sentiments already expressed. More colour options - my concern with the green was that I initially thought it was grey. A colour that blends into the road too much. I recently checked out the 800DE and 1050 Vstrom finding both saddles too high for my tastes. (the 1050 does have cruise control! Why doesn't the 800?!) A more road oriented option is welcome, more so with the lower saddle. I will be sure to take one out for a test ride when these are released.

    I’m so disappointed Suzuki hasn’t included cruise control with this new 800RE. If they had, I’d be placing an order immediately with my local dealer. I’ve previously owned a 2013 DL650 which was a very reliable commuter and all-purpose bike for six years, before I traded it in for a 2020-model standard (non-XT) DL1050; I don’t want spokes. That was the correct decision for me at the time, but my commute has changed to include more motorway and of course we’re now riding in restricted average-speed zones all over the place in the UK and need to protect our licences. Hence, cruise control is now a very important factor in a work-horse motorcycle which the V-Stroms have always been great at. I guess Suzuki doesn’t want to cannibalize sales of the bigger bikes (2023 DL1050 and GSX-S1000GT), but the lack of cruise on this otherwise perfect-for-my-needs bike is, I’m afraid, going to send me looking elsewhere. The DL1050 is excellent but heavy, the GT (which I’ve ridden and liked a lot) has way more power than I need and doesn’t have great tank range. This new RE would have been the ‘Goldilocks’ bike I’ve been waiting for (size, weight, economy, reliability, comfort, range, cast wheels, price etc.), but alas, such a thing doesn’t exist, I guess. Maybe if an aftermarket electronic cruise control system becomes available (e.g. MCcruise), then it could work for me, but it may be too late by then as another manufacturer may have solved my conundrum.

    • @GunnerLinus01
      @GunnerLinus01 10 місяців тому

      I expect the accountants at Suzuki will approve cruise control for this bike when they refresh it slightly in 2 - 3 years (as they did with the base DL1050), but only after having predictably watched sales go elsewhere. It really could have been an easily included USP amongst the Japanese middle-weight road-biased ADVs. Never mind, the weather forecast is sunny tomorrow - time to give the DL1050 the beans on a rare weekend leisure ride.
