good to hear! every time i start my H3 i turn the key just until the dash lights come on, then i wait a few seconds until they go out, then i try to start it. works 9/10 times for me
Probably a bit more than this technique to solve the problem. Try unscrewing three bolts under steering column plastic plate. Locate black ignition switch at left end of key housing, remove wiring plug in back, spray fast drying electronic cleaner to remove dirt and carbon buildup on that plug both input and output sides. Plug back in and see if that works. If not the ignition switch can be replaced for $80. Two screws attach it to the key cylinder housing usually sold together. Only need to install ignition switch. Note: if you do not use the key fob to lock vehicle, you shouldn't have the NO START problem as using the fob engages the antitheft system. Just lock/unlock with key only.
Ignore the note about the key Fob being related to the problem. Concentrate on using CRC electronic cleaner on the male and female ignition switch plug which is subject to carbon buildup and oxidation every few years. If that doesn’t work replace the ignition switch as the transistor in the switch begins to electrically drift over time resulting in the BCM, ECM and anti theft module rejecting its signal. Also #1 replace the OEM battery terminals ASAP with good aftermarket brand like Stingers as the OEMs cause multiple electronic issues that can also be affected by temperature and humidity changes.
@@bloodyKnucklesGarage note: if it’s a random problem it’s more likely a degradation to the electronic signal therefore it makes sense it’s a wiring issue rather than a faulty part. I used CRC electronic cleaner spraying both female white and male green connections. The tip of there’d spray tube can be kinked to spray back into the white female part of the ignition switch receptacle. Allow time to dry. Good first step for this comman GMC issue.
I haven’t tried that yet, next time…. I have several times at lockout. Remove key wait 10 min and it starts every time… make sure it’s 10 min + or you have to start 10 minutes all over again…
correct, it only increases the odds of a successful start on key turn, although can still fail. only real way to fix 100% is send to to PCM of NC for VATS removal
We Appreciate this video a lot it work for me and my wife in 2025 stuck in a parking lot

thank! I'm going to send my PCM to NC to have VATS disabled, but in the meantime i could try this and see what happens

Your my hero

The ignition switch has a sensor. You remove the sensor and clean it with electrical spray cleaner and it will stop doing it
You can have it removed by a tuning company.
that works too! this is a quick'n'dirty work around
What is a tuning company
It starts but instantly shuts right back off
might have to plug in a reader and check for codes. the anti-theft won't allow it to start at all, could be something else shuttin her down.
It worked!!!!! Thanks
Just clean it with alcohol
It doesn't restart the timer. im an expert after 5 years.
