its hard to not like a guy like mike shinoda. what a genuine guy. he the perfect combination of emotional intelligence and open-mindedness and hes just so articulate and humble and modest. listening to him talk makes me feel like im listening to a friend
He is intelligent, insightful, thoughtful. And sweet. And SO talented. I could (and do) spend hours listening to him talk about anything.
I really don't mind that Mike gets asked the same questions and answers with the same stories. I can sit down for days listening to him talk about whatever. LOVE IT. Great interview. Thanks for posting it for all of us to watch.
It was refreshing to hear about a friend ghosting him--that was a new story for me! Also young artists getting nervous-i thought Mike was cool with everyone (down to earth man) i didnt know artists still got starstruck.
same
But pretty sure he gets annoyed
right!!
That’s because he love what he made and he is totally aware that he made history
Mike is just the most chill, down to earth dude, ever. We love you Mike❤
This man has been a part of my life since their first album.
Same. Lifelong fan
God damn I wish Chester was here for the interviews.
I still listen to his Post Traumatic album all the time 🥹🤍
It’s a good album but it doesn’t really quite give me the feeling poppin In a Fort Minor or an LP record is. I can tell because it came up so much faster than those albums cause of what happened and they were mainly therapy for Mike and the fans.
@@AceWav great way to explain it, it was a therapeutic & healing album for sure ❤️🩹
Me toooo He’s a genius. I love “About You” “I.O.U” “Promises I can’t Keep” “Make it Up as I Go” i needed the album to heal. Mike was really thoughtful and kind letting us heal with him.
post traumatic is so hard for me to listen to still, but i sometimes go back and listen to it, just to remind myself of those feelings if that makes sense. the title really is fitting
Post Traumatic is in my Top 5 albums of all time, probably right behind The Rising Tied. So, same here!
24:15 THIS IS YOUR MOMENT MIKE I AM SO GLAD YOU FINALLY SAID IT YOURSELF
Mike Shinoda is so sweet, real, genuine and humble. That man is incredible ❤
Mike Shinoda is the greatest non-Black rapper of all time. I grew up with him. People say eminem but Mike really studied Black American culture and did it right with honor and respect unlike other non-Black rappers.
Had such a huge crush on Mike when I saw the In the End video for the first time in like 2003. Could watch him talk about his music and art processes forever, what a guy.
I’m a 38 year old man and Mike just brings a huge smile to my face every time. My dream is to have a Mike original painting. Maybe one day.
I am so proud of Mike, for how he has such a wonderful " Emotional Intelligence " & how he doesn't come off as "Stuck Up" or "Fake" GO MIKE SHINODA!!!!!!!!! & ROCK ON DUDE! 🎸
Thanks for bringing 20th anniversary meteoras. Absolutely amazing.
He's the best. 🎤💙
I love Mike, I love Linkin Park. I’ll never get tired of listening Mike’s stories. I miss Chester so much.
So happy you got him on the Show 😁
I’m not crying YOU ARE 😭
Right now, linkin park is probably the only band that would make me stay out late to see their concert... I'm very homely, but for them I'd go out... 😁
he always speaks passionately about music. you can tell he loves doing art so much.
I love listening to Mike speak … LP is home to me and Mike feels like family xo
Im so beyond excited to see Mike Shinoda on ! To say LP is a favorite and gotten me thru significant moments in life ~ the good, the bad and all the stuff in between is a understatement! I was watching Tana episode the other day and I actually was thinking I wonder if he would ever be a guest on this show because I think the style of interview would be fantastic to hear with him and answers would be interesting. I’m the same age group as LP so I have grown up with them literally as they have grown and matured as musicians. I am still devastated over the loss of Chester prob more than I should be as a complete stranger and fan of the band and music. I’m so beyond excited to hear this never played anniversary stuff that is being released. Thank you guys for having him on and thank you Mike and LP for being such a significant part of who I am and being my therapy when I had nothing else but myself and music. This interview really means a lot to me. ❤️❤️❤️
same. I understand how you feel about the loss of Chester. It's strange how we can grieve someone we haven't personally met. But when they've been a massive park of your life through music, watching interviews, LPTV you feel a connection to them. I miss these interviews. I used to love watching LP interviews and LP tv
39:08 oh my THANK GOD, I'm so glad to hear that. I love this guy so much.
I just want to say that this is possibly the best interview with Shinoda I've heard to date. AMAZING questions!!! Definitely confirmed some details behind LP's song writing / recording process from those years as well as how I perceived the new/old Lost demos were worked on prior to release. Also, Mike is said he would be open to doing another FORT MINOR album!!! I hope that happens at some point (pleeeeease)
Thanks for watching! Really appreciate that!
Mike sharing the story where he was ghosted reminded me of when my best friend ghosted me. It was like he said, jarring and can really affect your universe. Mike sharing this makes me feel not so alone in this feeling. I’m old but it’s good to hear for validation.5:44😅
I love the fishing metaphor. It's something that has been described since the art existed (greeks really liked that idea). True inspiration (they say) feels like you "found" something that's already there. As if you discovered something that already existed. I think many artists can relate to that concept. Pretty cool to hear Mike describe it in his own words.
I’m here at 40 minute mark of this video posting, so I haven’t finished watching this yet, but I wanted to say:
The importance of Linkin Park to my life and my identity of music is unexplainable. I was 13 when Meteora came out. Those first two records shaped my influence of music in a way that I compare everything sonically to Linkin Park. I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you for everything. As Zane said in the interview, your part of the transaction is done, it’s up to us to keep this going now and honor Chester 🙏🏼
SAME.
I didn’t start listening to Linkin park until around minutes to midnight, I’m 31 1/2 now
YEP
20 years is a long time. I love that album. Meteora is not bad. Linkin Park is hardcore. Thank u Linkin Park. Full respect and support. May the Peace be with u LP. 🙏💛💙
I could listen to him tell stories and talk all day ❤
The idea of another Fort Minor record has me going nuts.
Ngl, Mike's voice sounds more like the Meteora/Rising Tied era right now than it did at any point between late 00s and late 10s.
It's uncanny.
Such an awesome/genuine human,💖💖💖
I love Mike, he is so articulate, and how he narrates a story is amazing. One more thing I liked about the interview was that the host dint disturb Mike while answering❤
The part about grief is so true. I lost a friend almost 3 years ago to a heroin OD under circumstances that mean there's no way to know if it was accidental or suicide. As far as anyone I know knew, they'd been clean for a long while, but anything is possible, and I think that all makes it hard to find closure. I mean, with my grandparents, I knew they were dying, and I had time to make my peace with that fact, but their death wasn't like that. I'd thought I was done grieving them until a day just the other week when I remembered and lost it for a little while.
I love listening to Mike talk.
One of my high school friends died a week before Chester. She was 25. I've listened to Linkin Park since I was 10 and I dunno but even though my friend was obviously more important to me personally, I was already grieving and then it felt like a double loss. It was awful.
Hearing Mike talk about the stages of grief made a lot of sense and sometimes it feels like yesterday and it really jumps around from denial, acceptance, anger, bargain, and depression.
I absolutely love LP, Mike,Chester and all of them. Always happy to see him talk.. gives me such a warm home feeling. But I'd love to hear more also from others,Brad, Rob, Joe or Phoenix.. ! I miss them all so much 🥲❤️ Thanks million for everything you do, and the art you have created
Mike is too humble. LP is every bit as impactful in an artistic sense as the artists he named.
This is the most complete interview. I mean really anylizing how these songs were made.
Thanks for watching!
No matter how many clip of interview from Mike. It’s still being my all times inspiration. My favorite discussion in this interview is about Mike talking about Breaking the habit’s idea from him and Chester . BTW Mike always is my God❤
such a great interview! great job, guys! 👏🏻
thanks for watching!
Imagine ghosting MIKE SHINODA and then seeing him BLOW UP with Linkin Park. What a loser that guy was to not wanna be his friend in college😂 5:52
Wow, Mike's kids are basically the same age as I was when their first 2 albums come out. I was 11 for hybrid theory and 14 for meteora, incredible
I always feel so connected with Mike when he tells a story or share some of the old memories. It's like I knew few things already but now I got to know the whole thing which is a great feeling.
Nice interview! Mike always goes deep. I like him being a wise man.
I just really wish Mike dropped an official Shinoda Drumkit. How sick would that be? 🔥🔥
i'd buy that
26:16 -> his question was so funny God. Sometimes even as an LP fan, LP seems like a Disney movie or an Anime squad with so much variety of people in one group XD
I got a kick out of his question as well. It struck me as one of those random "A singer, and rapper, and a DJ walk into a bar" jokes.
Suuuper famous all around the world but yet soooo down to earth guy!!!!!❤❤❤
Thanks joe for saving breaking the habit.
It's really long interview but Mike is amazing.
yesss love Mike
I completely understand his process of work
Sometimes the canvas speaks to you.
Wow, every interview Chester was asked about his favourite LP songs to perform and in general throughout the years he'd mention Papercut. This being the one Mike says he misses performing the most cuts deep and makes me smile at the same time.
28:40 it's really cool to see Mike saying that because that's my exact musical experience lmao. I had never listened to a whole album on purpose until like 3 years ago. I listened to music on UA-cam, I liked it, I put it on my playlist. The only band I ever had an actual connection to know more than like 5 songs was Linkin Park, ironically.
I think this may be a result of the times we live in, the technology we have and the way it changes how we listen to music. I grew up on UA-cam so that shaped the way I approach it.
I loved listening to this and absolutely broke at "Lost has been found" at the end 😆
One thing I'd love is for somehow Mike and the rest of the dudes do something with the countless metalcore/djent bands they inspired like Architects, Northlane, and I could go on and on. And what I'd give to have Chester around to fully feature on songs just screaming.
What a legend
I went to see the Post Traumatic tour. It was amazing and heartbreaking all at the same time.
LONG LIFE TO SIR MIKE SHINODA❤❤❤❤❤❤
Are theses Mike's favorite pants?😂
swapped the flannel for camo
Dude I remember these appearing during Post Traumatic, and they’ve been a STAPLE since 🤣👏🏼 Maybe they’re the bridge between Mike Shinoda & his internal, “Bowl of Destiny.” 🤣🙌🏼
New era. Red Flannel is out and Army Pants are in. An eraaa😂
Hold on I don't see any pants🤨
Where are they? I don’t see them.
Breaking the Habit is a masterpiece! I have one of those concepts for a song that I've had for years, and I know it's strong (the only one of these I've ever had), but I haven't found a complete structure for. Also haven't had the tools/or workspace to try to realize it yet
7:58 wow, I appreciate Mike thought process so much
Need Mike on the Garza Podcast!
one of the best artist in the world!! nice guy
Love you Mike. Chris Raeman Rochester NY. Thank you
I just yesterday had a thought will there be anyone on Zach Sang, THANK YOU
Y’all know I meant anyone from LP right?! Anyways:))))
What a damn great interview.
Lost demons sounds like a badass song
A Legend
I love some of Linkin Park’s songs but didn’t know much about them as people. Mike seems like a cool dude!
40:54 The second I asked you if you had my back
And in your hesitation, betrayed, you did not
I asked you for confidence you haven't got
Heartbreakin', you basically end and you find
There was no way to take it but anger inspired.
So funny to listen Mike talking about Deftones and tiktok, since I've noticed the trend so much lmao
Спасибо за все что вы делаете
Inspiration
That's so true, it comes and goes. The ether 😊
I was 11 when I bought hybrid theory cd 💕☺️
Mike es todo lo que está bien ❤
MS ❤
Honest interview🔥
Mike❤
Mike Shinoda is always positive and in a good mood and down to earth man, a real rarity when you see some pretentious music "stars",by the way the Mike's microphone sound is terrible
Hearing Mike talk about how he stared with music made from samples, then worked his way back towards "band" music, as well as how little of a rock sound was in their early demos, I realize that I may have been listening to Linkin Park all wrong. In my mind, I categorized them as "rock n roll band with non-rock influences" like Red Hot Chili Peppers or Sublime, now I realize they were more "hip-hop group who played live instruments along with samples" like The Roots or Stetsasonic.
Props to him for knowing Barbara Kruger, most people don’t know how important she is to art and design.
This is my favorite interview of Mike🫶
Great interview! Been listening to these new Shinoda interviews online and you got into some cool topics.
I really wanted to show Mike my patented fretboard mod. Maybe he might be into it. If you read this Hmu 🤙🏽🎸
I want to hear every demo and every B-Side
I relate to having to eat a bar of soap for swearing as a kid lol.
One time I swore in front of my mom...and the look on her face... I just knew. She literally chased me from the garden into the house. And I actually ran to the bathroom before her and locked myself in and ate the soap on my own haha. 😂
Thank 's mike great answer at the question 😂.
NEXT: Joe Rogan, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon, Colbert, Boy Abunda, Toni Gonzaga whatever, please do more interviews guys!
On it!
The animation for the music video to Lost absolutely blew me away but there was that animation of phoenix that to me looked so odd I couldn't stop laughing. His head was way too shiny lol.
Zach, I recommend listening to Post Tramatic (Mikes solo Album)
It has really helped me greave
Heart brake suck i hope you find the time to go through the healing process.
May peace find you soon.
*1:12:37** One Step Closer in 2011*
Youlove😊
A hologram is a awful idea I totally agree, if we lost Chester in a different way maybe it would be OK , but the way he passed just would hurt too much , I think anyway .
28:33 facts
There is a word that exists that bridges the gap between art and commerce.
Entertainment.
1:07:01 It was Healing Foot for those who wonder what song Rob was playing in The Making of Meteora : ua-cam.com/video/a-VvBO6FauE/v-deo.html
Oh awesome Thank you
Discovered the channel a few hours ago and while I really enjoyed every bit of it, watching how Zag's body shape, voice and energy degraded over the last 8 years from that Ariana's interview to this one makes me worried about the man. Hope you're doing well
29:10 🔥🔥🔥
Hoping for a collaboration between between mike shinoda/linkin park and yuko suzuhana/waggaki band. This one was from Wagakki Band and Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE - Bring Me To Life premium symphonic night concert at osaka ua-cam.com/video/hk1GtYK7BJM/v-deo.html
Mike Shinoda and Yuko Suzuhana have so much similarity both are classically trained musicians in the early part of their lives particularly on piano and both have founded their own respective band. Mike was half-japanese and Yuko was 100% japanese it will be really cool if they can do a waggaki (japanese musical instrument) rendition of Linkin Park songs or maybe a new song/album.
33:32 - I think Mike meant to say "Killing your darlings" 😆
