- Amateur astronomers can be tricky people to buy a gift for, especially if you want it to be a surprise. In this video I look at 5 items that you might consider. They cost no more than around £25 or $30 and I think most astronomers will find them useful, interesting or fun.
Here are a few links to the items described in the video:
1) Turn Left at Orion Sky Atlas and observing guide:

I have not been paid by any of the makers of these products, these are just my own opinions.
This is a different kind of video to my normal efforts, so please humour me if it isn't your cup of tea.
Thanks for watching & Clear Skies.

This year my wife is getting me an Obsession 18 which, as far as she knows, cost around £25 or $30.
love the socks hehehe.....i need socks ........ good channel, very good channel :)
Thanks!
For anyone new to backyard astronomy, I highly recommend Chet Raymo's 365 Starry Nights. It's a beautifully (almost poetically) written and hand illustrated guide to the constellations and interesting objects within them, starting on Jan1 and progressing as the sky changes through the entire year. It assumes you have a small telescope or binoculars, and teaches you how to identify the constellations by the asterism they make in the sky, and where they sit in relation to other asterisms. Great book.
i like the astro socks i think i want some
i would have bet that you put a 180mm maksutov on the evolution mount to complement the fast dob.
It’s on the wish list!
Hi Graham, I liked the little red torch and the solar can.
PS:- How did you get on with your Morpheus eyepiece?
Thanks, I wanted to try a different sort of video for a change. I really like the Morpheus and plan to buy another before long. I’ve used it most with my Evolution 8, and really like the field of view and comfortable eye position. Not cheap but good.
0:29 Is that a BST StarGuider ED 18mm eyepiece?
Yes, well spotted.
@@JenhamsAstro I've the full set! 😂
