Just a quick note to tell you how much I've enjoyed your videos, especially the ones from areas I've hiked. Art Loeb, Grandfather, Crest Trail, Linville Gorge Wilderness all are familiar areas I've hiked. Haven't done the entire Crest Trail yet. At 66 years young, not sure I could do it in one day so planning to overnight after I receive my hammock gear 20 degree UQ. Keep up the good work.
I did that hike couple months ago with my group The Hikibg Buddy.
We started at 8:30 and reached Mount Mitchell at 3:30.
Now, there is a small parking lot at Bowlens and cost $5.
This is a very cool but also brutal hike.
Make sure you take plenty of water and electrolytes. And very good snacks. This Will make a big diference on your performance.
Big chances you won't find any water on the trail.
The first 3.7 miles is a constant steep ascend and you'll thinks that's is the worst part according to any elevation graphic from any app. Dont let that fool you, Hell is ahead after you reach the beautiful view of the Crest.
Go to hike it, it is an amazing experience. :)
Great video! I did this back in March. I hiked from the bottom to Mount Mitchell as a day hike. Will never do it again. Backpacking yes. I’m glad I knocked it off my list.
thanks for the great video. I've always wanted to hike that trail as the Bolens creek trail head is only a 10 min drive for me. I may give it a go sometime.
I'm tired just from watching you. That must have been a tough one.
Great time to have the new lightweight gear. And I'm digging the tent, especially the simplicity.
Excellent video. Very helpful. Thanks!
That was a pretty ambitious hike for two days. I've only done it one direction.
I told you they were great views! But you walked it twice there and back, your a beast!! please do a video on your new tent setup and your pack. I lugged close to 30 pounds of hammock crap across there.. Please Help! lol
Great video man! ...and your other videos as well, nicely done. I'll be up there this weekend doing a solo trip, doing a "through" from Mitchell to Bolens Creek.... and funny enough, I had a Triple Crown trip planned for this weekend with Blue Ridge Backpackers, but logistics didn't work out for me so I opted for this!
- Are you local to the area here in WNC?
Hike on man!
-Greg
I just did part of this trail Saturday. Thank the Lord above you did not come up Big Tom Spur from the Buncombe Horse Trail!
I saw the video of you guys on that trail. looks sick! Thanks for watching!
No problem and thanks for watching our videos. More to come!
Parking at Bowlens. Where exactly can you park. Can you actually drive to the footbridge?
Thanks for the video, doing this tomorrow.
Thanks for watching. Have a safe trip!
A testament to how small the world is.... Greg Outdoors mentioned your out-and-back. I followed you with intentions of watching your video later (which I am doing now). At the start of the video, you posted April 1, mentioned your FJ, and that you were coming back on Sunday. I remember your FJ from my hike on April 2. A friend and I hiked from Bolens to Mitchell (shuttle) that Sunday. Furthermore, I remember passing you shortly after the top of Celo. We met you and exchanged a brief hello. We only saw one other hiker between there and Deep Gap, a hiker from Idaho laying across the trail somewhere on Gibbs I believe. Small world. If you remember a Prius with a rack on the Bolens lot... that was us. Glad to see your video. I hope to post mine before long.
And great job! I cannot even imagine having to walk back...
What app are you using on your phone? Always enjoy your trips.
How long does it take to go one way from Bolens creek to Mt. Mitchell one way for a day hike ?
The crest trail, one of the best in nc
Very cool, plan to do that myself, and certainly not in 2 days 1 night - that's beast man, wow good job! In general, were there plenty of campsites, or might it get problematic at certain times of year? Also thanks for filming the parking area, that's always a mystery.
How much water did you carry. How reliable is water before celo?
What app are you using on your phone? Mount Mitchell is a tough hike. great video
I drove there in a prius and parked. did the out and back in 10 hours and 12 minutes. calm down. I did enjoy your video though.
what is that app on your phone
What month or time of the year is this?
Great Vid! What tracking App were you using on your phone?
Thanks! Its the Garmin app that pairs the phone with the InReach GPS
hey man, saw your FJ in another UA-cam video when you did this trail. didn't know if you saw that video or not. By Keefr Hikes
I saw that! Thought it was pretty funny! Thanks for letting me know! Appreciate you watching
What Navigation app are you using on your phone???
Its the DeLorme Inreach explorer app. It pairs the GPS with your phone. Garmin owns it now.
what is that app on your phone
Its the Garmin app that pairs the phone with my GPS. I have the Delorme Inreach
