Tip Suzy don’t get rid of your car too quickly - you might be able to walk everywhere just now but that could change - you’ll be able to drive to see places even if you can’t walk far. I have had lots of friends got rid of their cars too soon and really regretted it.
I agree also about the car, would wait six months or so to adjust to apartment life then think about the car, might want to get away some using your wheels. Thanks again Suzi Q for taking us along and sending good luck vibes your way❣️ Blessings from Nashville Tennessee 🎶🎶
Thank you for still finding the time to vlog in between all your busy apartment hunting. Love seeing what you get up to through the week. Much love. 😘❤️
That purple rain jacket is fab. Love it every time you wear it! So happy you can pay agents to look for you. Those flats were not you at all. You deserve so much more! As you said you’ll know! 🥰
Suzi - TOP TIP: if there’s a particular street or area you want to live in, type up a flyer with your name and phone number and put it through the letterboxes of properties in that area, asking that if the owners are thinking of selling to let you know. (This is all Kirstie & Phil will do - and charge you thousands!). My friend got her flat this way in three weeks. x
Yes I agree. Fortunately, lovely Melissa contacted me through here and she lives in my favourite block. She has sent her husband to talk to the caretaker to keep an eye out for me. But hopefully Kirsty has leaflet dropped them! And good idea, I will put something on a tree! Brilliant! x
That gorgeous last flat, despite not being in a great location, is the kind of place one wants to live in our twenties but can't afford when we are young. Can't wait to see the place you choose.
I lived in Brighton for 5 yrs in the ‘70’s and it took me 2 yrs to get over the grief of leaving . I was depressed. Hadn’t realised the impact it would have on me. Entertainment as soon as you step outside as long as you live in central Brighton near the sea
One of my favourite places whenever I am home on holiday from New Zealand a visit my friend in London and he takes me to Brighton I love it there happy days ❤
Yes agree on the apartments, #1 bath was dark&dank. #2 teeny-tiny cell; #3 need knees of steel. Thank you for taking us along....it's very difficult to leave gorgeous to practical. Take care....here's hoping for sunny days ahead💛💛💛
I Loved going along with you on your outings & your flat viewings. Thanks for taking us along with you. Sending you good energy to keep going.🙌the perfect one will be out there for you, don't give up :) 🌻
Purple really suits you. Thanks for finding the time to vlog for us. Agreed on all the flats. The perfect one is waiting for you, I'm sure. Enjoy your week.
Watching this video in October 🥶 superb views after your pub lunch 👏👏👏 loving the matching pale blue hair band? And trousers ….you are so good at matching things !!! Looking at a whole host of apartments even if they are not for you is such a good idea , because you firm up just what you love …plus Frequently we fall in love with a property we didn’t even think we’d like!!! Of course as it’s October , I can find the actual apartment you ended up with !!!! Best wishes Cathy 🤗
Don't get rid of your car ..... Thought I could manage ..... Walk into town of get the local bus. Then the bus route changed. And, I was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia and spinal arthritis at the age of 51. The relief when I had a set of car keys in my hands again was immense. I would suggest setting yourself a challenge in the winter of trying to do without your car for a month and seeing if it really does work for you.
I think it is very hard to find some where else to live, particularly when you have a beautiful house in a lovely area, but totally agree when it comes to a lot of stairs, you want to make life easier not harder.
Thank you for that lovely quintessential English outing... driving through the gorgeous countrysise to a country pub for a roast lunch .The views of the Downs above the Horse are breathtaking, what a lovely spot. Thanks again Ray & Suzi, from a Brit ( London & Southsea ) in Toronto.
Oh dear, hope the owners have got a thick skin 😁 It’s hard because you live in such a gorgeous property now and the flats are all (to me) quite uninspiring once you’ve lived somewhere as nice as you do now.
Being a bit negative living in a flat can mean annoying neighbours etc , and you may decide to get another dog so a little house might be better. Don’t get too disheartened something will turn up when you’re least expecting it.❤
There aren't little houses where I want to live in my price range and flats are easier to "lock up and leave" but thank you. And my favourite block is dog friendly! x
HELLO , so pleasant to hear about BRIGHTON . I wish one day I 'll return where I had so many good souvenirs learning english each summer. May be one day , before I'am too old ! Have a nice holiday !
Dear Suzi so wonderful to see you smiling in spite of the weather. This part of your journey is challenging as you're climbing to your destination but I know once you're there you'll exhale and see you're come to the right place, well worth the climb. Love all your clothies your dresses and especially from Australia are some of my favs. (I think of your Beautiful Auntie when think of you there her love is with you encouraging your path to your new home ❤) I kind of liked the 1st flat though you knew wasn't for you. I'm glad you're still looking at places outside ypur preferred neighborhood as you nevrer know what gems you'll find. Believing for you. And thinking ahead to having a lift is very smart. I'd hand onto the car a bit as mine is in the shop. Best wishes sending love and in my prayers 🙏. Big hugs 🤗 💕.
Thank you for your positive energy! Transitions are so challenging. It takes a lot of patience and stamina to get through these kinds of changes. I am going through my own transition, and I seem to have to talk myself off a ledge at some point every day! Onward and upward for both of us.💜❤💥
Hi Suzi, What an action packed vlog this week! Please don’t despair on the apartment search as it really is a gruelling process (and remember it only takes one to come up that you love and the search is over). The three apartments you showed us this week were under-whelming (even though the period flat in Preston Park looked spectacular the number of stairs were a “no” and I know that area as I used to stay with family friends who lived there and the road into Brighton is exceptionally busy! It will be interesting to see if the search team you employ will be able to ferret out more suitable properties in this challenging market. Have a great week xx
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺 This was lovely to watch. This brings back fond memories of Brighton. I remember that was the first beach I’ve ever seen with no sand! That is a very lovely dress. Exciting times ahead of you.
Love your orange beach dress. You look fabulous. It is so challenging searching for a new home. Hang in there, you will definitely know it when you see it. Much love to you.
Love being in Brighton with you, all lovely and summer too. Loved the dress. The Sussex Ox looked fabulous as did the meal. Great views where Ray took you. Loving the hair.Looking forward to hearing your hair regime. 🐞
Yes...keep your car! Loved the looks of the last flat but agree with you fully about why it wasn't a good fit for you. I wish you the best in house hunting and look forward to more vlogs and updates. Hugs.
Sorry you're not enjoying the apartment hunt a much as we are :0) I'm loving it! Apt 1 was not for you, which is a good thing because location, location, location. Flat 2, agreed, just no. Flat 3, gorgeous impossibility in the wrong location. Don't be discouraged, you have seen a tiny perfect flat. Exactly what you want is exists. Thank you much for these fascinating videos!
Hi, I have just seen your channel pop up and I’m so glad it did! I love your fashion style and hair with the matching headbands! You are so uplifting happy and cheerful! I was feeling really down today but after watching this you have definitely brightened my day and cheered me up 😊 you’re such a breath of fresh air when there is so much doom and gloom around at the moment. I have happily subscribed and looking forward to watching your other videos now, Thankyou 😊❤️xx
Hi Suzi, buying a new home is a big decision and you need to find somewhere that will be a good fit for you. Don’t just settle - wishing you lots of luck and thanks for taking us with you ❤
That last building was stunning but really not practical at all was it. Looking forward to seeing more flats with you Suzi! Thanks for taking us along. x
At least your viewings confirm that Hove is the place. But traffic noise is always going to be there if you want to be near amenities, quieter areas tend to be further out. It's something you have to compromise on, but if it's the right home you will know it. Good luck, happy hunting 😊
The last flat was great but as you say, too many stairs. What a lot of grumpy comments. Of course you should look at everything available because you’re under a time constraint, but maybe it would be better to sell and wait for the right flat to become available ( always a risk - but then buying because you’re panicked is also a risk). My friend moved recently and despite losing her buyers three times, she stuck it out and is now in her dream flat, on the ground floor and with garden. I hope you find something similar. Best of luck and have breaks with friends, you need to keep your spirits up.
Great video. Why will you be giving up your car? I can't imagine losing the freedom it gives. Oh my goodness, I agree with you about those apartments, no way.😂 Those stairs on the last one😮!! You looked lovely in each outfit. 😊
Because it costs 1k a year to insure and I use it about once a fortnight, if that. I will be living in an area , as now, that has an amazing bus service, Ubers and can walk to almost anywhere or cycle so it's a no brainer for me. The amount it costs me each month will cover my service charges for an apartment! Cars are not a big thing where I live, the council want them off the road! x
I just can't imagine giving up your lovely home,it's going to be very hard I fear to find something else after living there as long as you have . Can understand wanting to reduce upkeep though,it gets more difficult as we age ❤
Its hard, but you'll find the perfect place soon. I was lucky when I downsized to find a ground floor apartment with french doors onto the lovely mature gardens, undercroft parking and only 10 minutes walk to the centre of the delightful market town. Good luck! xx
That sounds just perfect and just what I want. If only the ground floor apartments had french doors in my favourite block I would be progressing by now!!! x
We moved to a bungalow (called rancher here in Canada) that was within walking distance of everything, beaches, forest and stores. We have a car but rarely use it. Like you said, you will know it is the right one the minute you walk in the door. Who cares about another person's decor or clutter, I find it is easy to see beyond all that.
Location IS so important to you , re Friends birdy tweet tweets, walking etc, that You WiILL find what you need .Loved that fab dress you wore to the birthday meal, but I couldnt see the pattern very well ( my fault ,not yours!) GLORIOUS beach day ,thank you for posting ,and aren't you tanned! Here in Alicante 34 degrees,so the beautiful Sussex countryside was cooling!!I wish I had the guts to move too!BEST of luck for this week ,we are all rooting for you ,and You bring such fun and delightful stuff into our lives❤
Good luck with the flat hunting in Hove. I love it here on Palmeira Square,so convenient for buses etc. I’m convinced that somewhere near St Anne’s Well is right for you so keep looking!
As you get older you need everything on one level. I moved into my home a 21, I'm now 61. The little steps here and there fun at 21, is hell on my old knees now. Would love to be able to move 3 states down to a place more suited to some one my age. Good luck on the hunt for that dream place.
Absolutely loved the English countryside! Don't envy the apartment hunting (even though it's fund to see). Wishing something pops up just around the corner from where you already live! Good luck!
Nice seeing parts of Brighton & beautiful Sussex countryside. Thnks for videoing. De-cluttering 🤪 but feels so good when done. Definitely did not like apartment # 1 nor #2 # 3. I’d be dead w/ the stairs. Thanks Suzi As always good luck 🍀
Stick to first or second floor Apts. Just think I have to bring things up and down. Do few stairs. I miss my car and now can hardly walk so consider keeping it 🦋
❤️ Brighton I believe you met my friend whilst getting your nails 💅 done I had been telling her I love watching your Brighton Vlogs small world right enough 😊 best wishes from Scotland 🏴
Oh Suzy , u had a realy nice outing with the Yorkshireman good food ,loveley views, and with best friend bathing, weeks go so quick, its realy a eco in your house now, I like to compare what we can get here flats with nice people around close to city,, here five milllions for 55m2 and balcony viewing the sea,and elevator, think u need a smaller garden if not a bungalow, happy hunting, love the coulor of rain coat, I will probably end up in an old peoples chelter home
Oh Suzi I feel worried for you I wish you could find your Dream Apartment. You looked really good in your blue trousers & denim jacket. Thank you for filming when your so busy you are such a lovely woman & you always look pretty even in your rain wear ❤ Xx
@@janettegardner7144 yes it’s too expensive to maintain and a ridiculous amount of space for one person! I want to enjoy the rest of my life not worry about a house if I wa t to escape the winter! And be near my cousin and friends. And be able to walk everywhere! It really is a no brainer and why so many people downsize when they get older ! X
Oh I enjoyed the flat hunting but then I dont have to walk around and do the stairs. Hopefully 'phil & kirsty' can do the groundwork for you. I remember buying/selling my house, I always vow I'm never doing it again!! Ha HA
Hi SUZI. I LOOVE what you are wearing. I personally Love a White Tee or white blouse year around. Also the pants FAB.❤ They look very comfotable, CHIC, looks like they may havw pockets also. That makes me love them even more. Kim U.S❤😊
Sending love 🤗 it’s so depressing looking at properties that don’t do anything for you. It’s no good trying to convince yourself it’s all down to gut instinct. I’m still having people view my maisonette, last couple didn’t like the vanity unit in shower room they practiced washing their faces apparently according to my estate agent 🤣 Another couple didn’t like the car park. I’m walking distance from the sea and village yet still struggling to find another buyer after mine pulled out. It’s a stressful time isn’t it? I’m trying not to dwell on the negatives and focus on what I do have. Hope you find a home soon xx
MORNING Suzi nice to see you enjoying the sunshine and lunching at Cote's. Like seeing your flat hunting. Shame it was raining. I'm looking at a retirement flat in Fulham Friday. I saw Russell Howard gig in the week and the film "Twister" which I really enjoyed worth a view.Have a good week Suex
@@AlternativeAgeing I'm not sure if it has a balcony but think it might have, Its got restaurant, swimming pool, sauna etc I will let you no more after I have seen it Friday ak Suex
I noted you commented on the humidity. I'm in Ohio in the states, it's been so humid for weeks. Little rain, just humidity. I'm over it. Don't even want to go outside.
The third apartment was very 'quirky' but I do agree, too many stairs. I truly believe that the 'right' property is a feeling that you get, more than the aesthetic (has we know, this can be changed and personalised). When I was house hunting in Spain, I saw many properties, but the one I finally chose was the one that hit me(with that this is it feeling! has soon as I walked through the front door and was hit by the views and light. Since returning to the UK and doing the house hunt trawl' I used the same method, I saw 2 in Kent and also 2 in Sussex, which unfortunately both vendors pulled out,.One decided to pull out one week before exchange and the other although offered over asking price decided to rent (Estate agents also need to ensure they have 'motivated' vendors, not just buyers). But I eventually found a property in Canterbury, that gave me that 'feeling'. So wait for the 'feeling' has I am sure you will find your perfect apartment.
Nooooo stairs !!!! We are not going to do that are we now ???? Hahaha. 1st one is a full gut job . The second is manageable if we were younger and can tolerate the stress of being able to wait and wait . Just to let you know i would not be so quick to jump on the band wagon to get rid of my car for another few seasons. Winter is harsh waiting for the transit is not for older people. I have seen many of my friends whom gave up their cars have become more house bound due to travelling time . I love that building we went to last week and had that beautiful little apartment ( condo) . So close to everything. I always love your videos. Just a thought have you ever thought about buying a small cottage one floor ?
Brighton & Hove are no places for a car. I use mine once a month and I'm further out so no I won't need one. I can hire, Uber but where I want to live is impossible to park and has a fantastic bus service. Sadly, cottages don't exist in that area and I don't want to live so far out again. x
Good luck with your search. I don't envy you judging from the flats you've been shown it can get disheartening. I don't know why the real estate agents don't seem to listen when you give them your wish list. I'm speaking from experience. When I was in the market to find a small cottage I was shown the most horrible places. I was insulted and incensed with the whole hunt. Chin up, hope you find something soon.
I have to put my 11 year old kitty down tomorrow, and my heart is breaking. It is so hard when we have to give up our loved ones. How are you doing with the loss of Jack? Love to you.❤️
I am so sorry lovely. My heart is still broken without Jack and one of the reasons I want to move. I have real empty nest syndrome. My heart goes out to you. x
Hiya Suzi, ooh moving Home always involves soo much. I made a list of things that were a must?or need , want ? Etc that way I didn’t waste time for either myself, seller and agent. Take care Luv Southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦🐝
Hi Suzi, I love the street musicians. Toe tapping song. Also love the walk and views you did with Ray. So pretty. I know, house/flat hunting is mentally and emotionally draining. I hope the perfect one shows up soon for you. I found our current house online, just looking at what was for sale. Do they have that online there, photos of flats and rooms and area for sale?
Hi Suzi, another lovely Vlog ... can't help worrying that a move to a flat from your wonderful house is too large a leap. Your house is such a lovely space and feels so open and the views are amazing but I understand the upkeep must be a drain on time when you would rather be doing fabulous things with fabulous people 🤗. If your mind is set on a flat, have you thought about Brighton Marina...lots of lovely apartments, gated security, great views of the marina and very close to Brighton (plus most have at least one parking space if you have a friend over who drives). Good luck on your search and I hope you find your forever home quickly. Xx
Hi Suzy, loved this vid so much. I'm an Aussie and wonder if you could tell me the label of the orange beach dress you wore in the first part of the vlog (time stamp - 2:06). I would like to get one for myself if at all possible. And if not, I'm sure I'll find something else in that label. Thank you. The English country side is so beautiful. My parents were English and they took me to England quite a few times, so I have seen it for myself. I also loved all the old architecture, castles, quaint cottages etc.
Hello Louise and Australia, I can’t wait to visit your wonderful country again! The orange dress was from Arnhem Byron Bay, sure you know them. Lovely clothes! It’s pre Covid though so not sure you will find the same. So glad you’re enjoying the countryside, you wait till you see where I went for 24 hours on this Sunday’s vlog! x
If your buying an apartment make sure its sound proof if your on ground floor! Check deeds that prevent 🚲 being parked in corridors and that the constant open/closing of nain building entrance can't be heard from your flat.❤
Tip Suzy don’t get rid of your car too quickly - you might be able to walk everywhere just now but that could change - you’ll be able to drive to see places even if you can’t walk far. I have had lots of friends got rid of their cars too soon and really regretted it.
Agreed on that! My mom still drove her car at age 92 and i will try/ intend to do the same . Can't live without dogs, a garden and a car.
@@sophiaw.7356 She wouldn't now! There's no where to park and insurance is 1k a year now! x
I can hire when I need one. And Uber's are plentiful and far cheaper than running a car with insurance of 1k a year for people with no claims bonus! x
Don't worry, this too shall pass and the right place for you will be found 😊😊😊

Great video. Why will you be giving up your car? I can't imagine losing the freedom it gives. Oh my goodness, I agree with you about those apartments, no way.😂 Those stairs on the last one😮!! You looked lovely in each outfit. 😊
Because it costs 1k a year to insure and I use it about once a fortnight, if that. I will be living in an area , as now, that has an amazing bus service, Ubers and can walk to almost anywhere or cycle so it's a no brainer for me. The amount it costs me each month will cover my service charges for an apartment! Cars are not a big thing where I live, the council want them off the road! x
Lovely vlog. Good luck on your hunt for your new home.
Me too. It's the location and view that's important to me. x
It can be a dispiriting exercise flat/house hunting but you will find something!
Thank you lovely. I can't even move to Europe now because of Bloody Brexit but it has crossed my mind during this dreadful summer - till now! x
The purple mac is very jolly
Great vlog have you considered a smaller house rather than a flat, at least you would have your own outdoor space x
No, not walking distance from everything. x
Beautiful part of the country ❤
Absolutely loved the English countryside! Don't envy the apartment hunting (even though it's fund to see). Wishing something pops up just around the corner from where you already live! Good luck!
Nice seeing parts of Brighton & beautiful Sussex countryside. Thnks for videoing. De-cluttering 🤪 but feels so good when done. Definitely did not like apartment # 1 nor #2 # 3. I’d be dead w/ the stairs. Thanks Suzi As always good luck 🍀
Yes we do want to see your apartment
The right flat will turn up. Don’t be rushed. Thanks for sharing. Cold here 6c degrees here this morning, cold for sub tropical Brisbane. Cheers 🎉
love the orange dress! hello from freezing Melbourne xx
What a nice storage space! You'll miss that!
Stick to first or second floor Apts. Just think I have to bring things up and down. Do few stairs. I miss my car and now can hardly walk so consider keeping it 🦋
Lifts and stairs for me.
Enjoyed seeing the different flats.
❤️ Brighton I believe you met my friend whilst getting your nails 💅 done I had been telling her I love watching your Brighton Vlogs small world right enough 😊 best wishes from Scotland 🏴
I did indeed, and she was lovely! We will meet again for sure. I love Hastings and it's only a short train journey away. x
Great vlog. I've just downsized, (bit dif Isle of Jura) It's glorious to have light bills and lighter possessions.
Can't wait! x
Good luck, Suzi! xxx
Your posture is fantastic. I enjoyed meeting you today.
Sometimes it's better to stay put, nothing so far compares with your current home.
I think it’s too expensive for her to maintain sadly.
@@kaymarshall2485 thank you lovely ❤️
@@janettegardner7144 I will fall in love with an apartment again - I have done twice so 3rd time lucky !
I agree with your instincts that right away you know😉
Oh I enjoyed the flat hunting but then I dont have to walk around and do the stairs. Hopefully 'phil & kirsty' can do the groundwork for you. I remember buying/selling my house, I always vow I'm never doing it again!! Ha HA
I will be saying the same for sure! x
One reason why most people wouldn’t like #1 is the owners didn’t declutter! It’s so important to remove all of your personal stuff!
Quite difficult if they're still living in it?!
Hi SUZI. I LOOVE what you are wearing. I personally Love a White Tee or white blouse year around. Also the pants FAB.❤ They look very comfotable, CHIC, looks like they may havw pockets also. That makes me love them even more. Kim U.S❤😊
Yes lovely big pockets, so glad you like. x
Always, gut instinct. And someone will love your place just like I loved mine and the buyer does too. x
Good luck with the Fulham flat
Oooh please tell me more about the retirement flat in Fulham. Has it got a balcony and greenery? Love Russell Howard. x
@@AlternativeAgeing I'm not sure if it has a balcony but think it might have, Its got restaurant, swimming pool, sauna etc I will let you no more after I have seen it Friday ak Suex
@@susandavis4821 yes please! I’m beginning to despair down here! X
@@AlternativeAgeing The flats I am looking at Friday are so expensive and its the maintenance costs that makes it so pricey will let you now.
Love that dress!
Love that building!
I noted you commented on the humidity. I'm in Ohio in the states, it's been so humid for weeks. Little rain, just humidity. I'm over it. Don't even want to go outside.
Oh dear sorry to hear that, hope you get a break from it soon xx
Happy flat hunting
Loved flat 3 ❤
Excellent comment 😊
This wasn't through the new girl, these were my choices to make sure I've explored all avenues! x
Loved your vlog❤
I have to put my 11 year old kitty down tomorrow, and my heart is breaking. It is so hard when we have to give up our loved ones. How are you doing with the loss of Jack? Love to you.❤️
🤗 Warm thoughts at this very sad time. It's our last act of kindness though for our precious friend.
Oh so sorry Scotty. 💔
I've done that but they're not coming up yet! x
Yes, everything is on-line, that's where I've been looking. x
Xx
No because it's like a dying centre over there! Sadly. And the wrong side of town for my relatives and friends. x
People aren't shouting as you walk - you are just vlogging and would like quiet. 🤣
The woman he was talking to wasn't shouting!!!
You have a rocky beach. We have mostly sandy beaches but a few rocky ones. 11:35 your dress is so cute 31:18 beautiful purple rain coat.
Where do you get your energy, I don't think I could keep up with you. Lovely video !
I often have to have a little nap at lunchtime! x
