I’m 81, I sold my house 7 months ago and moved almost 3,000 miles by myself. I moved to a city where I didn’t know a soul. I moved into my first apartment in my life. I have never been happier! This move is the best thing I have ever done. Ignore and block negative people. We do not need or want them in our life. Love and kisses.

Wow, that’s amazing !! May I ask what locations you moved to and from? I’m 73 and I keep thinking about moving from the US to Europe but go into panic mode when i really think about everything that would have to be done 😳

I moved from the Pacific Northwest CA to Cincinnati, OH. Yes it was a lot of work and took a great deal of planning but it was more worth it than I can put into words. I had always lived in small towns and owned my home. I wanted an entirely new life. My new city, which I love, is 2.2 million metro. I had never lived in an apartment. I adore my loft apartment overlooking a park. I have never been so happy.

I personally loved your flat hunting content and, as a divorced woman over 65 who has downsized twice in the last two years, I enjoy hearing about the life transitions of others my age. And it’s so fun to see areas of the UK I’ll most likely never get to visit myself.

Suzi - it’s YOUR content, YOUR vlog - please don’t be swayed by commenters (you’ll drive yourself potty trying to please everyone) and the flat-hunting is such fun to watch.
Be wary of ground-floor flats, love - EVERYONE who comes in and out of the building will have to walk past your flat so you’ll hear footsteps, talking etc constantly. Same with living by a school - parents’ cars will block the road dropping off their kiddies and it’ll be car doors slamming and engines revving twice a day, 5 days a week. Gorgeous flat, though. Have a lovely week. x

I also enjoy seeing the flats you’re considering so I really hope you’ll continue to take us with you. I wonder if some of the criticisms are meant to be genuinely helpful. I live in Mississippi, USA and I am enjoying your flat hunting 😊 I downsized in 2000 when I moved down here to the Mississippi Gulf coast to be closer to my daughter. Prices are a little cheaper here than they were in Maryland. I pay $1,015 00 usd in rent, don't know what that would be in pounds.I have 2 bedrooms, 2 baths,kitchen,living room and dining room, the kitchen is separated from the di ing room by a bar and the living room and the dining room is one long room divided by the front door. I live in a duplex that is 2 apartments in one building, mine is side by side although I think up north they are more typically one on top of the other. It is between 900 and 1000 square feet. I don't know how to convert that
I enjoy your vlogs, Brighton was on my list of places I would have loved to visit if I were e er a le to Co e over. Unfortunately that time has now past, I am now 80 and do have some health issues, I have spinal stenosis, just had surgery in March, which went well but now the area above where I had surgery is acting up! I figure any day I get up on the right side of the dirt is a good day😊

Hi Suzi, it's such a shame that the trolls spoil everything for those of us who are truly interested in watching the videos of the various flats you are viewing. Do they really expect you to buy the very first one that you see?
When buying property it is essential to see as many as possible . . . and you can't buy them all. Take no notice of these nasty people who have nothing better to do than complain all the time (I think that they must have very miserable lives.) Just keep doing what you have been doing as we all LOVE what you do!
Also, I found this info on the internet regarding filming in a public place, I quote,
"Generally, when you're filming in a public place (like a park, or outdoors on publicly accessible hiking trails, etc., its perfectly OK to capture people and show them without blurring faces, PROVIDED your videos are non-commercial in nature (that is that they're not offering products or services for sale, or otherwise ..." End quote. So ignore the nasty naysayers and don't change anything you do! As always, TFS and have a lovely week. 👍💖

Love the channel and love seeing all the flats you are looking at, as someone who did down size I know how difficult it is to find the right place but it is out there, just takes time and ignore all the unpleasant comments, if they don’t like your videos they should stop watching them instead of making cheeky remarks.

Love seeing all your property viewings. That one wasn’t you. I think the grounds and entrance need to feel more loved. Your dream home is waiting. Be patient. Just look at as many as you can. We ended up in a new build in London in the end because nothing else felt right. And we went from a grade 1 listed, so it was a gamble. One thing great about it is the sunny balcony and 9 floors up. The light was a very important factor. And we have never in 10 years had to have the heating on. Heat rises etc. Bonus is a concierge, secure parking. Lock and leave. And views over London. Downsides are noise carries with height, sirens, alarms etc, but that’s London anyway. So it’s worked for us. I now really like flat living and less maintenance issues. There were teething problems with a new build over the first 12 months, snagging lists, so something established can often work better, you could then talk to other residents. I always give honest opinions to new viewers. London of course is transient so you do see more people renting. Therefore changeovers in tenancies. Not sure what Brighton is like for multiple renting? Anyway you ignore the bores that wish to criticise. We love your vlogs and your sharing. Our Sunday coffees and pastries with you and also Jo Good. Good luck, it is very stressful moving home so look after yourself during this time. We found it very tiring, and exciting too. Enjoy 😊

I haven't done intermittent fasting in a bit I used to do 18 hrs & it worked well but I may do the 14 hr to get started again. Avocado sounds good right now I'll need to shop again tomorrow.
I just got my car back after a big repair whereby living in the boonies I was stuck for 2 weeks feeling like the awful lockdown 😢.

Don't stop flat hunting that's one of the best bits, love seeing flats all over Brighton and Hove and your travels around there and London. So Brighton with dogs, families and singles all enjoying the sea, Saltdean pool and the weather. Brighten and Hove and surrounding areas brilliant for short breaks and days out. Try and get a flat in good repair inside and out, and which is quiet with no loud neighbours. You will find it and we can help you, xx

It has to be right so keep looking That dog on the beach reminded me of a few years ago I was on holiday in Cape Verde with my very best friend sadly no longer with us and I was on the beach lying on a sun bed eyes closed and a huge dog jumped on my stomach and scared the life out of me looking back it was funny. The fasting regime really has been the best thing I’ve EVER done ……lost 2 stone . Now a 12 from a 16 and have kept weight off for 2 years !! …..it beats any other way of losing weight in MHO xx

I loved watching your apartment looking. One of my favorite UK programs is “Escape to the Country” watch it faithfully. Keep being you. At age 76, I now dress for comfort, not fashion. I work at the Macys in the USA, for 13 years. My mother owned a woman’s boutique as I was a child trough teen years. Keep being you!

Goodness! I love the flat content! Don’t deprive us because of a few idiots. Great flat but agree completely on the garden front. I do 14 hours IF as well with a Mediterranean diet plus complex carbs 30 fruit/veg a week. Really stops the snacking. Nothing wrong with the beer - we have to enjoy our lives! Are we really alone? 😂😂. Devastating! 😂 x

I’m 60 and downsizing too for the same reasons. Luckily I have found my apartment - I knew as soon as I walked in that I wanted it. I’m sure I’ll be sad leaving my house and all the space but it’s better to downsize now when I still have all the energy to cope with the upheaval of moving and settling into a new way of living. Good luck with your search!
