As an aspiring older college student trying to become a pilot I wish I had the money to support you as well as be entered into the drawing. You give such great leadership and love. Thank you for all the knowledge you give on this channel. Great to have people as yourself in this industry. Thank you
Hey there, just made my first order. Time to start supporting a fellow Indiana jet driver! Keep up the great vids, and hopefully, I'll see you around soon. I'm actually going to be based at MDW now instead of ORD, so it was neat to see this video for sure!
Thanks!
Great video - thanks. Always nuggets to learn from.
Another great video. As a result of your videos, Stevo1's, baron pilot, and 310 pilot, i jumped back into the cockpit, took a few lessons, passed my BFR and flew solo this week working on pattern work anf T&G's. Now on to instrument rating.
George Gagnon great to have you back, what was the BFR like?
Good to hear, sir.
George Gagnon so glad to hear!
@@Skylane_Pilot after being out of the cockpit since 1972 I had no idea what to expect but with over 3000 hours on flight sim I believe it kept me aware of flight principals whereas on my first flight with instructor he let me do it all. take off , landing , full stop, short field take off , stalls(all) slow flight, emergency procedure and review of airspace ,in 4 hours he was convince I should be allowed to have full private pilot privileges. so this past Wednesday, I got in , on my own , and did t&G's and man it was like I never left. I'm so excited and I give credit to all these aviation videos that helped me along. Now it's on to gaining proficiency, then check ride in C-172 and start instrument. I just might start my own you tube and document the training. No promises. These guys are good at making videos. Thanks for the comment. since 1950 George
@@georgegagnon4566 - CONGRATULATIONS! That is great!! 👍🍻👍
Wow your videos are getting better. Way to Go!
Another awesome video that puts me in Dreamland .. just awesome to watch and think about living that life 👍
Finally you explained the panels on the premiere jet!!!!!!You like porche!I have the premiere seat in Brunswick ga where 90 % of all porche enters the U.S!
The exec jet pilot on ground at MDW sounded like the host of the Pilot to Pilot podcast.
Greg, I always enjoy your videos! I won't say where, but my wife and I were plane watching and listening on the handheld yesterday and heard you cleared to land! Nice landing! I'll be watching for the video!
Well darn, I wasn't filming yesterday!
Oh well. Still enjoyed right place, right time!
3:06 - ATT/HDG Aligning -- Do Not Taxi. That's cool to see. And my brain every morning.
It won’t be long before the Eclipse won’t be alone in the auto throttle group. Just saw that the gen 2 Vision Jet and the new TBM 940 have auto throttle.
Not quite the same, but I also saw a while back that IS&S, the people that made the system for the Eclipse, have an A/T system for the PC12 and King Air.
I love the smell of Jet-A in the morning. 👍
Thanks for the Ride!
Great vid! Is Sam now off to college? I hope you keep making new videos and have someone like him to compile and edit them. Keep up the great work!
Amazing!
KJZI. Kiawah Island is one of our favorite places! Maybe we'll see you there one day.
Awesome to hear you've been to YYZ :)
Another flight in the books
Good morning P1D, are you able to tell us what type and class of licence you're using?
Forget the flight! Can we film the hotel room?
It's a great video.fanstastic!!!!.
March in Chicago looks really warm! (heh heh)
Was that justin from Pilot to Pilot at 20:05???
Great video!
thanks, great video
Morning question for Mike if your flying solo and you have to go to the bathroom what do you do can you leave the plane on auto-pilot and go use the bathroom?
Nope. Depends, coke or milk bottles, or whatever relief options that can be done while in seat. Greg and Sam are our pilots. MIKE is the plane as in N390GM or three nine zero gulf MIKE 😁
NovejSpeed3 don’t forget information Mike
There is a relief tube under pilot seat
Just Curious...What happens if you have to go to the Bathroom?? Like #1 ,,,Nature Calls you drank coffee and or Soda...You technically cant leave that seat...I know its a weird question but its one thing to be in a car,,its another to be on a plane...Love the Videos! Could be best Private Jet Videos on UA-cam!
Anthony Tamburino there’s a relief tube under pilot seat
Your interviewer didn't let you answer the question "did you look at any other jets besides the 1A?"- and as a follow up- why the IA over the others. Can you answer that please? :) The others are big cabin, fast, and fairly fuel efficient too.
Glofilter yes I looked at others but the Premier hit all the sweet spots. Speed, size, efficiency and integrated avionics.
@@gregmink The more I watch your videos, the more I'm falling in love with your airplane. Great stuff.
Great vid!
9:22 Do a Barrel Role? "Yeah, no..." The Premier is not a Falcon...
Flown correctly it's low positive G all the way round.
Greg's comment was in no way a criticism of the Premier. It's more than capable of doing it.
Love the videos.
Thanks for your videos :) ... Can the altimeter be included in the HUD that appears on the frontal cockpit view ?
It would be GPS altitude which will be different than displayed altitude. Which will then lead to a bunch of internet guardians telling me I'm off altitude...but, to answer your question, yes.
@15:12 it's the other way around Sir. One gallon of fuel weighs 6.7lbs. Don't be Air Canada 143, I love your channel too much.
@Sean Armstrong I liked his explanation
I like how Greg thinks about the conversion factor 0.15 gal/lbs (inverse of 6.7 lbs/gal). It's one tenth 1/10 plus one half of one tenth 1/2 * 1/10 = 1/20 = 5/100. He then simplifies his calculation by distributing: 1000 -lbs- * 0.15 gal/ -lbs- = 1000 * 1/10 gal + 1/2 * 1000 * 1/10 gal = 100 gal + 50 gal = 150 gal. Of course for 1000 lbs you wouldn't need to make this computation but for something like 1200 lbs it's a nice approach: 120 gal + 60 gal = 180 gal.
Thanks for the reference to Air Canada 143. Painful to read :)
Enjoyed the video. Greg, just wondering the deciding factor for the premier?
Speed, cabin size, efficiency, integrated avionics and purchase price.
Heard a call out to contact Grissom approach Grissom Air force base just north of where i live in Kokomo Indiana
#BoilerUP! :)
Greg i know you just did that major avionics upgrade recently, but do you ever feel like you and your needs may be out growing the Premier? If you went from a MU to a Premier....what are some options after the Premier? 😁
NovejSpeed3 PC-24 or a Phenom 300 if I wanted to stay in single pilot airplanes. But the Premier works pretty well!
nice video again..... regards from germany :)
Greg, are there any airports that dont have a ramp marshal ?
Yes, a lot of times you self park.
Porpoising ... WAG ... CG is nearly perfect over the main gear so it "rocks" back and forth?? Does having a passenger move to a different location stop it???
yes, when you get weight in the back it doesn't happen.
@@gregmink Now I'm a truck driver / boat captain, but CG and gravity are consistent regardless of what toy you're playing with .. my guess is if you put that weight in the back to make your taxi smooth, it's not gonna fly the way you like it!!! ps, really enjoying these videos!! Nice job, it's not broke, don't fix it!!
Are you using VHF/UHF Radio’s?
What is the output Wattage on them?
VHF and I'm not sure of the wattage.
Premier 1 Driver good thing for repeaters
How do the repeaters work on some Ocean Crossings
Greg give us a little more post landing please.
Hey P1 thanks . I noticed on the 2nd start your ITT's went right to the limit. is that okay/ normal?
can you upgrade the wings with the winglets? or are they all one piece? is it worth doing? like how much extra range/ vertical speed do you get??
jack black that was the normal ops limit. The start limit is 1000. No winglets for the Premier.
@@gregmink probably some parallax :) appreciate the engagement with the viewers
HI P1 yes its me again :) thanks for being so cool!
But is that something you coul do? get a company to make the wnglets because I was doing some research on this jet and.. they say you can get 500ft rate of climb increase . 15% fuel economy. and higher cruise speed.. when you do your walk around can you talk about if you could change the tips please
there was a planned version II of this jet Premier II . And it was going to be called Hawker 200 - new engines and wingtips, range increase achieved with no extra fuel. in October 2010, but did not enter production.
When you pick your canine at 7:30 your concentration is focused on something which is not food; Is it weather en-route and at destination?
Nicholas Jordan probably whatever weird routine they were going to give us and if I
Should just go VFR
@@gregmink Thank you very; very; much → That is close to what I thought only lacking _my_ *weird routine* so I doing my own Blogger on the current incident which has SWA operating the vehicle efficiently for decades •• I have strong feelings on this which are biased away from Flight Deck HRM toward the idea a machine is a machine and does not have feelings
where doI nuy a small T- Shirt?
Smalls are offered in some of the t-shirts on the website.
@@gregmink Thank you...*dribble
Greg I am sure you get asked all the time....since i am a few miles from you...you need a right seat let me know! Lunch on me..lol
Pilatus PC24 has auto throttle.
I like a little less FD BS while below FL 100....but I'm old!
What kind of airplane do you fly sir?
1st
good morning
Do you think it’s a good idea being distracted at a busy airport prior to takeoff, or any airport? I’m not a pilot, have just seen the destruction of distracted pilot’s! I know you own your own aircraft, but from my understanding at most carriers it’s against policy to have any conversation outside of the flight. Correct me if I’m wrong please!?!?
You are referring to the sterile cockpit. Yes, good technique but not a requirement in private flights.
Do you guys smok
Well i'm getting nothing done at work. Thanks P1D lol. PS that's one heck of a delay...felt bad for the rampie.
Nice flight, as usual.
Suggestion for Sam: The book "Stick and Rudder," by W. Langewiesche.
He describes relationships between all the controls, why airplanes fly, and how to recognize a good approach early.
It explains all simply and helped me a lot.
Just heard you on frequency with Indy approach 🤙🏻
What plane we're you in ?
Wow, what a delay! Curious as to what ATC had going on that required them to reroute everyone.
I'm so fascinated by the amount of ground that Premier covers - I can't even imagine what it must look like in person. Glad you post these vids - I'd have had no idea otherwise ... and I never would've been this obsessed with aviation, either! 😎
Great vid, as always, and a big shout out to Sam for his EXCELLENT filming and editing! It's brought a whole other dynamic to the channel. 👍 👍
Should I line it up with the runway "yes that would help" 😂😂😂 cracked up, nice job guy's really enjoy the channel 👍
Great FAQ session. I think you covered most of it on other flights but great refresher Greg! Thanks as always for taking us all along!
Never a more true statement Greg! My dad was an AF fighter pilot, it’s where my flying drive started! Nothing made him more proud than when I got my license, after a biz career, and went to airlines! My brother was a surgeon and is now a Captain for Delta! He thought no kid would be a pilot and now 2! Sadly he passed a few years ago, but what a joy and dream to fly w him!
Good on ya Greg, allowing Sam to hand fly the approach....Thanks for the ride along !
One of your best videos, you are a very good teacher, nice to see Sam get some flying time on the approach, well done.
Thanks for the info on Flightradar24. I live about a mile from YVR, so paused the video and logged on to Flightradar, checked it out, and there was a Lufthansa Airbus lining up on runway 08R, and after it took off, I looked out my window, and there she was climbing out, too cool....
Nice job Sam!! Good thing is a quiet Friday at the office and you guys uploaded the video at the perfect time.
Excellent video...another Golden Banana Award. :) As an ex-TV director I have a tendency to notice little subtle details in videos and one thing I've noticed is when you have a good landing followed by a shot of your face, you get just a hint of a grin as if to say, "Nobody knows how really good that one was." :) It's obviously an autonomous reflex to an uncontrollable chemical release so there's no use fighting it. :):):) Fly safe.
Thanks!
Sam’s mom keeping an eye on you guys ! That’s great ! You can not hide... lol! Great video guys, thanks for sharing !
By the way I know you mentioned that you did not have as many viewers as before but there was not in advance notification that you were planning to go live. I watched this after the live presentation.
You DO know that there’s someone “peeping” from the back, right ? Ok, you just said there was three of you. Just making sure. That poor lineman needed a shave, by the time they let you go. lol!
Best way to start the morning! Even slept in my P1D t-shirt
Wish I would have known you were at MDW, I would have waved!
Another great video Greg! All those people who watch live should just follow you on UA-cam, you answer most of those questions in your videos. Just saying.
The white one is a dassult falcon 8x the biggest and best dassult falcon on sale
Yet another Great Video TY Greg
Nice touch with the Flight Stats ! Great seeing more videos !
This reminded me of the feeling I would always get when rolling out after a landing. A great feeling of joy and accomplishment. Flying is so amazing.
One heck of a good mentor for these youngsters, aside from your wacky mathematics...
Does your airplane have any sort of reverse thrusters or do you just rely on your brakes to slow down on the runway after touchdown? Thank you. I really enjoy watching your videos. It’s an immersion experience. High production quality
Theres two of those big Falcons based here at Lunken (KLUK) that have their own hanger, beautiful planes and all glass walls on the hanger. I believe they are owned by Wells Fargo. You can often see guys inside waxing and polishing on them.
Great video Greg. I saw 0GM parked at CRQ this morning over by where I keep my A36 hangered. Beautiful plane. How long are you in Carlsbad?
You know what's really cool? With every P1D video posted, I get to ride, learn and thoroughly enjoy the "perfect seat"!! As a result, my confidence level in aviation has increased tremendously. I hope others have experienced the same.
I love the Dassult Falcon 8x.
"Flight of the Bumblebee" was a cool and appropriate intro song for your aircraft! I request Sammy Hagar's acoustic version, 3rd movement, of "Eagles Fly" for the next video. ;)
"Flight of the Valkyries" ;) and yes on Hagar!
ua-cam.com/video/5L8gasWGvTI/v-deo.html
That was a very informative and entertaining one !! Really enjoyed it and looking forward to more . Would love to have been Sam for those last few miles !!
Always love seeing the younger generation getting some encouragement in aviation. Thanks for all you do Greg. Always great flying with you.
Miss your videos Greg, ever since student no-balls reported a fake incident. Let me know who he is and I will run Yt ads to his name so he never gets that dream job. Happy Christmas please keep videos coming in 2022
Great video! I have been using your videos to practice radio calls for my IFR training.
Thanks for letting us know why you blocked FlightAwear. Makes sense. Do you deploy your speed breaks on every landing?
Great flight as always.....great job Sam
Out of the whole video the Intro song is what I enjoyed the most!!!
Zi live there blocks away from MDW and drive past Atlantic daily. I will keep an eye out for 0gm.
Pilatus PC24 also has autothrottle.
Not quite the same class of jet. Yeah. I’m nitpicking though. :)
@@curtisccr Actually it is. 8 Pax, SPO-Certified, same speed, only double the range and a big cargo door. New price is $8m. The 390 cost $6.5m ten years ago, that would be 8m in today's money, too. Only because it isn't built anymore and spares will sooner or later become pricy, you get a 390 for $1.5-2m today.
The Honda jet looks cool. What are your thoughts on it
Competes very well with the Phenom 100 and Citation M2. A lot less plane than a Premier
Costly fuel-wise sitting on the tarmac - on expenses perhaps?
Was that Pilot to Pilot podcast Justin getting his clearance at about 20:20?
Does the ground crew tune into the ground channel so they know what your waiting for?
"That's quite a bit of a bank there...nose up"... lol.
Great to see a new one uploaded. Always going to be a good video with Bieber aka Sam in right seat!! LOL :-)
aha cool i was thinking the poor guy marshalling lol then you said it lol
Great as always Greg. Well done!
so awesome you let him fly the approach
Was that Justin from Pilot to Pilot Podcast at 20:00?
Those Dassult Falcons look nice.
