      0:51 "...play the game from a role-play perspective..." - This! I'm in the interesting spot of having been awarded Quyaz as an Archon of the Western Empire, with all the implications involved, and I'm about to grab my third Aserai city now as an independent kingdom and being on my way to rally the pretty much wiped out Aserai faction under the Dragon Banner to renew the Empire out of the desert like an effing Kwisatz Haderach!
      ...as soon as I trust Taleworlds to have finished sorting out most release bugs, I'm gonna use the "My Little Warband" mod to create an empire desert troop tree :)

    Something that is criminally underrated is the aserai veteran infantry in fact it is objectively the best line infantry in the game. Spears, good sword(same length as legionary), good javellins, testing has them beating every other infantry. In current patch infantry and archers should be the primary backbone of your army. I actually think the aserai overall have the strongest troop lineup now.

    • @421less1

      They're balanced like the empire but they don't get outclassed as hard in mounted archers.
      I love the aseria infantry too but i feel like the look the lamest, especially if your taking them out of the desert. Just me though.

      True, The Aserai troops play like the empire but are better at most things (worse shields)
      The big weakness is that Aserai units are hard to recruit. You need to go to the desert region which is behind the sea.

      Aserai infantry is clearly underrated. They are not the best one in any task but they can do it all and with great talent. A lot of other infantry are specialized into tanking, skirmishing, taking care of horses, etc. But they usually remain with big issues and weaknesses like having no shield, no spear or so.
      Aserai infantry have every thing. Everything you ask them to do, they will carry on. And with a bit of micro to make them throw their javelins, they can defeat any AI t5 infantry troops. Best troops in my opinion !

    • @421less1
      @421less1 Рік тому +1

      @@jacquesdaniel2302 id argue that along with battania, they have the worst shields for making a wall and protecting the formation. Most of their head, they're shoulders and even the sides of their chest are all hitable from the front with a bow.

      Imperial legionaries only outperform Aserai Veteran Infantry when it's specifically High tier vs High tier, because Legionaries can come equiped with Caraldic Maces, in which case the Aserai Vet Inf ranks 2nd, in every other scenario they are the best shield infantry in the game, against everything.

      @juangomes is correct.
      Still, it's nice not needing to mass so many basic riding horses very early game to have a lightning fast map move speed and only focus on Sumpter Horses for carry capacity. It's why I went with Aserai for my blacksmith playthrough: save as much money in the first few seasons and bumrush all fiefs I can to amass Hardwood, complete Orders and supplement with tournaments, while keeping the Youth at base tier to avoid steep upkeep costs.

    People forget that troop strength and weaknesses aren't everything in a normal game. The Aserai are the most fun to play simply because it is the most involved faction to fight with when you fight battles. Other factions have overpowering F1 F3 options which give you the rewards from the get go, whereas the Aserai troop tree requires the player to exploit its strengths, and its also not rocket science to actually bring out their strengths, despite what people say Aserai units in my playthrough have been very easy to use, utilising the proper tips I've been given after watching some of these videos. And after getting involved as a commander for an Aserai army, the rewards you reap will be even greater than whatever you get if you were using an overpowering unit from another faction. Even if you put in much care and involvement in using the armies of other factions the Aserai will still work best because other factions always have 1 unit that is overpowered and everything else is mediocre. The Aserai isn't the best at anything but it is second best at everything. That's the biggest strength of the Aserai.

    Imo, the Aserai Veteran Infantry is actually one of Aserai's strengths due to their versatility. Their shields aren't weak at all, they have 400ish HP and their size allows them to cover their entire body (akin to the Sturgian shields). They also come with great armour, spears for defence against cavalry, and javelins. They are one of the best frontline units against standard AI armies, being almost on par with Sturgian axemen.

    Actually there was some testing done, and the Faris (after the update that gave them superior armor alongside Banner Knights) performs the best against every troop type except for cav vs cav, in which Banner Knights take the cake as the best cav vs cav unit. The trick is to tell the Faris to Hold Fire during cavalry brawls, since their lances are couchable.
    Also, the Aserai Veteran Infantry is the best shield troop overall. The only place they fall in second place is when compared to Legionaries in the specific case of facing high tier units. What do I mean: if it is against high tier units, legionnaries edge out because of the caraldic maces; in every other situation, the Aserai Veteran Infantry is the best overall shield infantry. Curiously, the Palace Guard us only the third best shock troop, losing out to Heroic Linebreakers and Menavliatons.
    The true weakness of the Aserai are their low tier troops, their tier 3 and below units are terrible, but when comparing the high tier units, the Aserai basically have no weaknesses, they have solid frontline, solid skirmish potential (decent horse archers and many javelin options), solid cavalry (which is also the fastest).
    It is a more difficult army to pilot, but once mastered it is arguably the best single culture army out there (unless of course you're cheesing the AI with a full stack of Khan's Guard split in 3-4 groups doing hit and runs while boxing in the AI that doesn't know how to react to 4 groups of horse archers from different angles).

    Just discovered your videos and I really like how you break down these factions and troops. Plus I was pretty quickly won over by your suggestions to new players to stick with a faction's troops mostly or entirely if possible. Idk, so many ppl and guides seem focused entirely on min/maxing and its like...anybody can do that shit and be good. Doing so only makes it very easy to see the mechanics and comparatively simple background equations occuring in a game. Once that happens, even the best games just feel like an "these inputs for those animations!" simulation....and getting to that point and still playing whatever game it is I cannot fathom enjoying.
    But embracing your factions strengths and accepting their weaknesses? Much more immersive and long term enjoyable. Otherwise you're just playing a messy amalgamation of the best of every army, owning everyone immediately (which isn't fun) and never experiencing the challenges and benefits of the game's intended playstyles.

    Great guide as usual! Question: How do you feel about executing lords? I recently picked up the game again, but I remember back in early access I executed a few mercenaries who kept raiding my villages and everyone and their mother hated me -100 relations. Did they ever changed that so it's a viable strat to get rid of lords/clans you may not want to recruit since getting them killed in battle is so freaking hard and rng heavy.

    • @Dare_To_Game
      @Dare_To_Game  Рік тому +13

      I do not like the way the system is implemented. Given how hard it is to kill lords in the field, the penalty for executing them shouldn't be so steep. If i were designing the system it would be different. For one thing, if it was a lord or lady with a poor reputation, you wouldn't lose any relation with anyone except maybe their spouse and children. But for everyone else, you would suffer a major penalty with their family or clan and a very minor penalty with everyone else in their faction, but no penalty outside of that. I hate the way it is currently balanced. You can slaughter thousands of soldiers with no reputation penalty, but execute one annoying lord, and everyone hates you.

Even lesser tiers than that might might beat the Aserai with those simple commands. No tactics needed, because the Aserai are useless in defense and offense.
    - Require perks to make their Tier 5 units capable against any other tier 5 units.
    - Tiny shields and weak ass armor.
    - Weapons are either very slow, or are sized poorly (one handed weapons are slow and too long and weak, two handed weapons are slow and short)
    - Regularly get shit on by TaleWorld despite being the most unique faction after the Khuzaits, yet are completely neglected by TaleWorld.
    - TaleWorld completely failed when making and updating the Aserai, a total fuck up of a faction.
    - Trade perks seen as a plus, when literally no one plays Bannerlord or Warband to be traders. It's a war game with armies and fighting.
    - Their "best" cavalry units, still get easily trumped and overtaken by empire cavalry, vlandian cavalry, and khuzait cavalry. Their "best" cavalry are also easily wrecked by Sturgian spears/shield walls, and Battanian archers and pole infantry. Pretty much just use "Follow your sergeants!" Or "Charge!" against the Aserai, and you'll win.
    *Strengths:*
    - Dumb luck with javelins, possibly, but not really. Still worse stats than most factions with throwing.
    - Good at absolutely being the weakest and worst faction across the board.
    - Good at exposing TaleWorld's failures.

      They are a skirmishing and range core army.
      Why are you even charging them?

      @@OccAZNion exactly I hate when people try to charge them like shock calvery and then say they suck when it doesn't work the aserai are well rounded and can be dangerous when you use all the troop trees together.

      @@OccAZNion - Who said I'm charging them? You misread my comment. I said they can be beaten by the two simple commands from other faction armies, which are either "follow your sergeants!" Or "charge!". The only way to win with the Aserai, is by perk bonuses, very close to attention detail tactics, and a lot of experience which basically means you need to be really good at the game for the Aserai to be good, which shows the Aserai suck.

    Too me the aserai the strongest not thru their army what isn't a joke either but it's their position it's insane in my games they only start wars whit south and khuzait the rest they always have too many things going on so aserai only fighting at one point and no one actually goes into their territory maybe a castle now and then but that's it so when ure 500 days in and they never been taken their garrisons and troops are just out of this world the khuzait they nerfed I never got how they were so good 4 factions can attack em from the start aserai only 3 and most of time only 1 of em declares sturgia goes after vlandia batanian go after western or vlandia or sturgia the ones that attack khuzait are a lot all 4 of em can atk and will in one of my games just couse 1 faction got really weak everyome declared couse they knew if they didn't their territory would be taken up by their enemies
