Well, I picked the challenge to put my finances in order. Then I invested in cryptocurrency, stocks and real estate, through the assistance of my discretionary fund manager, Mrs Mary Gail Benner, who helped me make it big.
Hi Nic. I'm a long time watcher of your videos. You have given me plenty of ideas for buying and selling. I love this "niche areas to consider" theme for your videos when buying to resell. Please do more. I have sold some Theme Park merchandise (mugs, badges, keyrings) but hadn't realised that there were more areas to look out for, e.g. site maps. Thanks for that. I went on the Professor Burps Bubbleworks ride at Chessington when my kids were small. The ride took you through a factory making fizzy drinks. Quite a tame ride, it was ideal for small children.
I found a smiler large heat reactive mug in a charity shop last year for £1.29 . I sold it within 2 weeks for £80 and it went to America. So now I look out for mugs but haven't come across another one worth buying since.
The Nemesis has been closed this last season whilst the park had it retracked and refreshed as it will be 30 years old next year. I think this had lead to a lot of Nemesis merch becoming very saught after and increased it's value.
Bubbleworks at Chessington was a fairly tame water ride (up to 4 of you sat in a rubber-ring shaped ‘boat’ and got washed around in the water and up and down inclines) with lots of bubbles in the water and a general bubble-blowing/making/enjoying theme eg rubber ducks etc. it was all a bit run down really and then they shut the ride probably late 2000s/early 2010s?
Some old 1980s to1990s gameing Nintendo magazine can be worth a lot of money anyway between £10 in bad condition to hundreds of pounds in excellent condition
Thanks for the insightful video Nic. I remember going to Thorpe Park on a school trip 35 years ago when the indoor/dark roller-coaster 'Space Station Zero' was there...I still have the park map in a drawer! Also it's great to see all the youtube videos covering theme parks with the POV ride-ons, nice community of folk. All the best.
@@NicHills Glad to share Nic. I listed the 1985 guide map (none others on eBay) last Friday and had 7 watchers over the weekend with offers received of £20 and £50 (I declined both as I'm using a 'Dutch Auction' format starting at £200). Will keep you updated. :) Cheers again.
@@NicHills Glad to report the 1985 Thorpe Park map sold just after Christmas for £75 (all in), UK buyer was very happy in his feedback:) Cheers again for the heads-up. All the best.
Wow that’s amazing Nic yea can you imagine all them theme park stuff in peoples attics and garages, yea keep searching the boxes of tat, I must look up Irish themed parks 👍
On 9 November 2008, after carrying an estimated 43.5 million thrill-seeking passengers, Alton Towers held a special event in honour of the attraction in which the Corkscrew completed the final circuit of its 750 metres (2,460 feet) track.[1] The official date for the last day in regular service was 2 November 2008 - the last day of the season
Very good topic. Over here in the U.S. it is mostly Disney items like that. Other little parks where they have items go into an even smaller niche of collectors. I am hoping to start selling on eBay starting in 2024. Just watching video after video getting that information. Keep up the great videos, I enjoy watching them.
A few years ago I sent a set of 4 rare Disneyland Paris postcards to a collecter in the US, unfortunately Global Shipping managed to lose them so the lady never received them.
@@leebrown9658 the beauty of GPS is once they receive the parcel at their UK hub it becomes their responsibility. As they went missing between the UK and the buyer's address in the US the buyer got her money back and I kept her payment, but I do wonder where they ended up.

Surely in their day, these items must have retailed for the same price !!!! so in theory you spend the money and purchase the product and 20 / 30 years later you get your money back, obviously, there are some oddballs thrown in.
The thunder looper is no longer there the nemisis badges are cool, I cant wait for the retracked ride to open for the 2024 season! Most Theme parks now dont do physical maps anymore they are all app based or on a board when you enter, as someone whos really got into theme parks this year the smiler bears seems to be worth more than the other bears followed by whickerman, and at the moment lots of people are looking for the curse at alton towers resin as the ride is new for 2023 X
Amazing and definitely overlooked this niche., I went on the bubble works with my wife and our young son in the late 90s Nic, I can still remember it had really fruity smells as it took you to different areas, take a look at the UA-cam videos someone has put up, looks a bit creepy now looking back at it
Wow I must have overlooked thousands of these items over the years. I never even thought they had any value! Thank you for the info!
You are so welcome!
How do most of you guys still make profit, even with the downturn of the economy and ever increasing life standards

Interesting, please how can i get in touch with this Mary Gail? i don't want to remain out of ignorance.
She's on telegram
Those prices are mental for what I class as tat! I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for them at the boot sales though 😅
Happy hunting :)

Sounds a bit like 'It's a Small World' at Disney... slow ride with lots to look at. Thanks for watching :)
Hi, Nick thank you for sharing! ❤️
Thank you Nic for as always sharing your expertise with the masses. Love your videos, please keep them coming 🙂
Thanks, will do!
Informative, really interesting. More 'niche market' videos please.....
Will try and do some more when i get the time :)

This was really interesting…..Thorpe Park & Chessington are nearby I will keep looking at my local carboots & charity shops.
It always makes me laugh when you tell Jeff off, as my Dad is called Jeff as well.
LOL

Gosh! I live about 10mins from towers, I need to start looking out. Thanks for the video
Wow! I won’t be passing by the toy tat or bric-a-brac in the charity shops ever again!!!

I boght about 5 Alton Tower Bears from a charity shop i think a few years ago @ £2 each. Getting around £25-£30 each
Nice find Matty

Thanks nic ! This was VERY interesting!! Never imagined these would be worth anything! X
Glad you enjoyed!

Nice find!!
Yes nemesis has now gone so prices gone up. Also disneyland items sell well.
Great niche, thanks! Chessington was just a zoo in the 70s though, was born down the road 😁
Oh wow!
Wow 😮those prices are crazy, who would fave thought it 🤔
Exactly!
Very interesting. Thanks for the advice, Nick.
Glad it was helpful!
back to watch again 😊
Think Corkscrew closed around 2002 as I went on it in the very early 00s but it had gone by 2003.

Ah, maybe I just didn’t go on it in 2003! Not surprising as it scared the crap out of me the first time!
ooh i love collectors!
Yes! Collectors with more money than sense are the best!
Nice one Nic 😊
Thanks 😁

Excellent..
If you like theme parks give chessington a swerve
Noted!
Ha I thought we were in a cost of living crisis 😂
There's always someone out there with disposable income and a weird collecting habit...
You would think they have free shipping with the prices they sell for lol
LOL
Only recently my alton towers snow globe broke and a cup from there i smashed grr
Noooooooo! :(
