Nhl, just had the same thought. If Hajrudin had gotten Aces's fruit he would have become a fire giant... A FIRE GIANT
If we're assuming that Loki's fruit is similar in any kind of way, that's one step towards Surtr already
Add that to wanting to destroy the world, Loki and Surtr being basically the beginning and end of Ragnarok, and the GIANT SWORD SITTING RIGHT THERE... yeah, the chances of a Surtr fruit are quite high

It would be the equivalent of Sanjuan Wolf and his Huge-Huge Fruit, but even more OP with an even more OP person using a fruit that makes you bigger. I think it's a Legendary Paramecia. If this Loki is anything similar to Marvel's Loki, then he is about trickery and deception. He utilizes illusions, shape-shifting, hypnosis, and telepathy. He can also levitate, teleport, create dimensional rifts, and manipulate objects with his mind. Loki from Marvel also came from Frost Giants, and is also "competing" to be king with a fellow peer, so there is a lot of similarities here.

Some mythology info- Ragnarok is implied to have happened, BUT only because the primary source we have on the myth was written by someone trying to create a shared norse cultural identity (he wanted his native iceland to join up with norway) and everything he wrote has to be examined for bias due to that. For example after ragnarok bauldur and his brother show up again (they died long before ragnarok) along with 2 humans in an adam and eve situation, and several points in the book refer to a god of light and everything good in a way that is clearly shoehorning in christianity, while in other places it uses all the good things Baldur is associated with to create a similar parallel, ie the world ends but no worries we have the god of all the good stuff still hear, with some humans to repopulate. This also points to Snorri, writing the whole thing with Ragnarok intended to be a good thing, a cleansing apocalypse that paves the way for the good world we currently live in.
Other notes- Fenrir doesn't eat the sun or moon, Skoll and Hati do, I forget if they are fenrir or loki's kids but they aren't Fenrir.

3:25 this is actually an interesting question. Short answer, we don't know.
We know actually rather little about norse mythology, despite what one might think with the ammount of it we have in pop culture, .
There are arguments that can be made that Ragnarok already happend, but the things pointing to that could be additions made by christian monks. The version we have does end with only 2 humans surviving and Baldr coming back to life, a god of purity and light. This is extremly christian coded and could have beend included to explain to the population why they should worship this "new" god now.
Funnily enough Loki himself is a very paradoxical figure in the mythology. To a point where one could raise the question if he was originally part of norse mythology, or a later edition by christian monks aswell.

I find it hard to be the Gomu Gomu no Mi as Vegapunk seemed to be fairly certain that such a fruit doesn’t exist. Unless it’s a fruit with similar stretchy powers but a totally different name like the Stretchy Stretchy Fruit or something.
We still have no clear idea why the weird errors were happening in the Lego castle, right? Why Luffy’s weapon kept changing, why Nami’s bracelet disappeared, Zoro didn’t get lost, and that one panel when they attacked the cat that clearly referenced an earlier attack from Alabasta, etc. If that wasn’t an effect from Road himself, perhaps Loki’s fruit subtly alters reality and brings stories to life but is imperfectly used so long as he is chained up?

I've been looking through sun myths in various cultures and noticed how it's quite common for myths to talk about how the sun is driven by a chariot across the sky. I've found atleast three. In greek mythology it's Helios the personified sun riding across the sky in a chariot, in germanic/norse mythology it's Sol I believe who drives the chariot of the sun as punishment for being named after the sun and in Hindu mythology it's Aruna driving a chariot carrying the personified sun Surya.
What if Loki's power is related to said chariot? I could see the Chariot of the Sun being a paramecia fruit that aside from creating a massive chariot also has the power to control all kinds of flames. There could even be a connection to Joyboy/Nika if back in the void century or whenever Nika was around the chariot was Joyboy's/Nika's ship or rather vehicle. Luffy has the Sunny, Roger had the Oro Jackson and Joyboy/Nika was travelling in the Chariot of the Sun. The way the giants rever the sun god they would certainly call the fruit used by their giant ancestor to carry Nika in his chariot a legendary fruit. And depending on how much of the details of history have been lost Loki could easily believe that the chariot would make him the actual sun god.
As for powers and visuals I'd say Loki fighting with Luffy in a crazy fast chariot burning with flames would be pretty epic especially if those flames were hot enough to destroy an island similar to one of the ancient weapons. Which it very well could do if the chariot was used to control a flame based logia user or Vegapunk's mother flame. And it would be something completely different from the many zoan and logia we've had recently.

Since the ancient kingdom was so advanced, nuclear energy might have been common place way back 800 years ago. If we're going off the idea of Loki wielding the raw power of the sun, paramecia that turns Loki into a reactor that can fire off entire solar flares would be pretty fitting and unique. I'm assuming in One Piece it would take the form of a bunch of high power lasers and explosions like Godzilla style.

3:23 this is solely based on one source i'm familiar with, so take it with a grain of salt, but, while the events of ragnarok are described as being merely visions of odin for an upcoming event, our modern world probably exists in a post ragnarok area.
the events post ragnarok are suspiciously christianity inspired, with the world being destroyed and repopulated by the only two remaining people, a man and a woman (obvious parallels to adam and eve), and the surviving divine beings coming together under the leadership of the revived baldr, a god of justice and goodness, nicknamed "the shining one" (obvious parallels both to jesus's resurrection and to the christian god).
so the basic idea is that the old gods died during ragnarok, and that after ragnarok the new christian pantheon and our current world order came into power.
now, it's important to remember that we don't really have much first-hand information about the original nordic beliefs, and most of what we have is a propaganda piece, written by a guy in order to try to reunite iceland and norway, so he probably wrote it in such a manner to pacify both sides and combine the two religions into one continuous narrative.

interesting idea about ragnarok (sorry if this was already mentioned): it would be interesting if the giants saw the red line as a sort of world serpent, which would also tie into the idea of ragnarok beginning with the world serpent releasing its tail from its mouth, or in the case of one piece, the red line being destroyed, just like Shyarly said would happen in the fishman island saga, thus triggering ragnarok aka the last big war previously mentioned by kaido after whitebeards death… (regardless of whether or not this is going to be canon, it sounds like an interesting idea to me)

As a kid I read a lot of Norse myths that felt like we live in a post Ragnarök world. Specifically I remember a picture in the end of one book showing Baldurs prophesied return after Ragnrök in a garden walking up to a man and a woman feeling very similar to bible genesis imagery. So the myths read kind of like a prequel to the bible.
It’s worth noting that texts of the Norse myths that has survived were almost exclusively written down by Christians in Scandinavia to preserve their history. So most myths we hear and read now have already passed through a Christian filter.

    2) Until proven otherwise my favorite fruit idea is that Sun God is just a title for the king of Elbaph and that his actual devil devil fruit is a mythical zoan of a Nidhog, the dragon that threatens the death of the world tree. Devil Fruit Model - Thor. It would be like Enels, but able to give stronger lightning attacks and the lightning attacks was able to super heat things. So a rubber ability wouldnt be a problem.
Or a Devil Fruit Model - Odin.
Also, Black Beard may have a Logia. But he dosnt get the traditional Logia abilities. Unless he always thought he didnt. But he just needed to work on gaining the ability bc its harder with his devil fruit. Like the ability where non haki based attacks have no damage. It would make sense. Bc you really dont see or hear or even think BlackBeard would be a type to “train.”
And to get that ability where non haki attacks just pass right through a logia user, they did say it takes work. Bc its something you have to allow. So unless you think about it, and let it happen and im assuming timing plays a great deal. Attacks wont go through a logia user. So whatever oart of your body thats being attacked, you have to make that part become intangible. So it could just be that BlackBeards devil fruit is harder to learn to do that.

Also Finrir is known for killing Odin (Loki killed his dad which we all assume to be Odin) Add the giant sword that Surtar is usually dipected with (think Thor Love and Thunder from Marvel) and Elpath just so happens to have a giant sword. If you Google "Norse Mythology Loki Powers," You first get some basic stuff like super strength, stamina, intelligence and is a master Swordsman. All that is something he could already have, no DF required. But dig deeper and we see Shapeshifting, Illusion casting, Sorcery and even electric manipulation. The legendary wolf powers could give him electric powers like the Mink tribe, but the shapeshifting, Illusions and sorcery can be grouped into one and can be cast from his eyes. I dont know why this video gave me the idea, but I have a sudden thought on how Blackbeard has multiple fruits, and it *IS* because of the Yami Yami no mi. Hear me out:
We learned from Vegapunk that Devil Fruits are "a creation of dreams," or something along those semantics. I always interpreted that to mean theye quite literally man-made, and the creator/creators were using peoples desires to decide what fruit to make. I.e. John from two towns over need to keep his kilns lit, so they made the mera mera no mi.
Continueing the Yami Yami thought; what if the creators made sure to intentionally put the 1-limit rule in them, and being heavier than water was already a side effect that just didnt matter at the time (until the oceans were weaponized). But for some reason, the creator of the Yami Yami no mi didnt set that limitation?
If these are creations of intelligent design, then their draw backs mightve been intentional. What if someone broke that law by creating the Yami Yami no mi? Its already a hellish fruit that counters other fruits, and is an antithesis of the Nika fruit by absorbing light, and nullifying fruit powerd. And if BB is an archeologist orf orts, he mightve discovered this, and thats how he knew he could steal more fruits.

The fruit swap idea could be cool but I still like my idea which is kind of similar to the idea of being the Mother Flame: Loki has the Fusion fruit. Instead of being purely light or purely fire he can fuse ambient elements into unimaginably hot light sources, you know, like a Sun. We already know the Magma supersedes Flame in One Piece because of a certain donut because the intensity of heat needed to melt rock is more than generally lighting things on fire. So what is hotter than that? FUSION.

I think it's a cold or like weather related fruit. One of the calling signs of Ragnarok is fimbulwinter, and Loki being freed and using his fruit to cause this would make sense since it'd mark the beginning of the "end" the other giants believed he'd bring about. Also, "hai rue den" (idk how to spell his name) wanted a fire fruit, which would be the perfect counter to something cold based.

In Norse mythology we see different types of giants: frost, fire, etc. Perhaps, the fruit handed down is a "giant giant fruit model: fire giant". Essentially scaling up Loki to an insane size and giving him fire powers in the process. Something/someone has to be big enough to swing that sword stuck in the island. This solves the legendary status, the fire related item, and the sun god relation.

Though possibly meaning that both Nika and Gomu fruits were being guarded by the giants and making it harder to explain both Vegapunk’s dialogue where he says there’s no such thing as a “Gomu Gomu fruit”, instead that being the Nika fruit (which means this one was in the records), and the gorosei dialogue where they state that Zoan fruits have some kind of own will, as they seemed to be “escaping” the world government.

the introduction of haki kinda turned logias into paramecias since with haki their intangibility is negated.
But a motherflame base logia (or a substance generating paramecia) would turn Loki into a fire giant too, no Surtur fruit required

Talking about a logia relating to the sun, although it's not perfect, it could be a plasma logia, given that the sun is primarily made of plasma. Similar enough to fire/gas combined so it could be unique

Loki has the dog dog fruit model Chihuahua. He turns into the smallest dog ever but he sure is a fearsome foe

Legendary Mother Flame Mera Mera Nomi is a very hyped theory. If we accept that Elbaf is one of the most Ancient Kingdom/Void Century affiliated kingdoms (and secluded from the World Government) they must keep some secrets from that time. And if Mother Flame is a replica of the ancient power source, then we have it with this devil fruit protected from the very giant royal family.

Oda can give and make Loki have the plasma plasma fruit or zuma zuma no mi canon(it was used in a non canon play show back in 2014) and be a callback or parallel to Enel as plasma can generate electricity or the user can use electric based attacks but also do much much more, its a logia power thats capable of destroying the world or would be ancient weapon level as Loki would be a walking mini Uranus just as Enel made the Arc Maxim look like Uranus a bit. We also had Nami strike Road in what seem to be a reference to Enel or what could be a forshadow for Loki as well

I know the scale of things in One Piece isn't consistent at all, but the stuff on Elbaph is insanely large. Compared to the Rode's castle and the rope bridge the sword must be several kilometers/miles long. The only creatures capable of wielding it would need to be as big as the Florian Triangle monsters. The cannons on the tree are hundreds of meters big, too. The tree itself is likely >10km tall, reaching sky island heights.

Think about lokis situation. he has been sitting there, chained up for years. he is probably getting fed by his jailors, which also means he has to poop. so he either is sitting there in his own waste and smelling the place up, or he has to squat over a bucket or something like that, when the jailors come around.

What would be really cool would be if Loki could change his size like how Luffy can. Like adopt the dark souls ideology where the closer the boss is to your size the more intense and powerful they are

theory: it's the mythical dog dog fruit model cerberos. that fits the fire part, chains and stuff can simultanously references fenrir and black beard will steal his fruit in the elbaf finale and causes the start of the blackbeard arc.

I dont think it is a Logia, because during Dressrosa Hajrudin said " have u seen a gaint that ate a logia devil fruit".

    • @mokaljordan

That line makes me think that Loki has a fire Logia even more now since its a red herring ppl would see as a matter of fact, it could be something oda can sneakily retcon or it would be ironic when he said that hajrudin didnt see Loki use the fruit/have no idea that the legendary devil fruit is a fire logia

To answer your question Ragnarok is both, already happened and is going to happen, all the events are already foreseen and thats why Odin is so obsessed in stoping it, Thinks of it like an spiral where you are able to see whats bellow or ahead of you, but as much as you run you cannot reach it.

There's a strange part of me that hopes it's a Paramecia. like a Weapon-Weapon Fruit: Model Mjolnir or some such.
I know it doesn't have ties to the sun or anything but it could be really fun. If he could control the hammer weight to be either his or the weight of an actual hammer it could even be a play on "only the worthy can lift me"
