Wingèd Blissings (w/chill music)

Poem:
"Pigeons As the Black Sheep of the Family"
Why is it that a flock of pigeons
Taking flight in a movie scene
Elevates the romantic ambience;
Yet, pigeons scrambling for food on sidewalks,
Their orange-red eyes begging for human compassion,
Are perceived as vermin, a nasty nuisance?
Releasing white doves at blinged-out, bleak weddings,
Revealing a white dove in mundane magic shows,
Reinforce false enchantment of the much-preferred dove;
When "doves" liberated during marriage ceremonies
Are actually homing pigeons inadvertently "passing" --
Human deception twisting symbols of love.
Some doves and pigeons are speckled, you know;
Other doves have brown, black and/or white pigment.
Some humans are brunette or blond, ginger and freckled, have straight hair or 'fro;
Other human beings have albinism and others, vitiligo.
Pigeons and doves share the Columbidae family;
Both are intelligent, which is how they've survived!
Yet, people have hunted pigeons for eons
Despite realizing their homing senses have saved human lives.
If I may be allowed to express these last, cryptic words:
May pigeon and dove be spared the fate of the dodo bird.
