This is what Joe Rogan was talking about when he said Ariel is the best on interviews, he stays so positive and professional in the Nick Diaz interview and the Rampage interview.
I like that Rampage asked Ariel if he wants to "squash it". It's a reference to a previous interview, where Ariel asked Rampage if he wanted to "squash" the feud.
So many negative comments for such a funny interview. Why? If the "tongue in cheek" sarcasm was not blatantly apparent to all of you then I don't know what interview you were watching. This is just Rampage in "character" raising his own stock as an entertainer along with Ariel's at the same time. Ariel's a great interviewer that held his composure throughout all their interviews together, and hats off to him for keeping it flowing smoothly and professionally! Ariel's humility shines, great job!
If you've followed Rampage for a long time, you know he does this to reporters ALL THE TIME. He's joking around, he ruins the joke if he starts laughing :)
asking direct questions is not a sign of disrespect. UFC fighters want the same recognition as Boxing fighters but don't understand how the press works and that its part of the job.
I'm Canadian and I'm a fan of Ariel, but I do think he is a bit of a weasel sometimes, and I really enjoyed the way Rampage bosses him around, the stuff about Canada at the end was hilarious.
I love rampage, especially his fighting style and attitude towards fighting. Allot of people forget that he respects mma as an art. He values honor. That's why he likes the Japanese fans so much. However, I am also tired of alpha this and alpha that. People who usually talk like that usually have problems and try assert their dominance to smaller guys. He is just one of those people that knows no one can beat him up so he gets away with it. Remember, bullies also claim "I was just joking".
I just see a man having a good time after a win. He seems to be happy that it's over w/ a W for himself. Ariel knows this about Rampage and played along with it. The fighter personalities run the gamut .. as long as they dedicate themselves for our entertainment, who cares if their personalities aren't our cup of tea.
@wonder2pac : I think Rampage did respect him with this performance. Ariel's stock just went through the roof from this interview. Jackson is a true showman!
Rampage is just having fun with ol' Ariel. Personally, I think he respects the guy and is working him to build both of their careers, just like Ali used to do with Howard Cosell. People think Rampage is dumb or arrogant, but the guy is quite smart. He has a high aptitude for self-promo and marketing.
Its good to see a fighter and interviewer go back and fourth, I have to say A.H just needs to come back at Ramp or just give alil poke or please rampage serious answers and these go between could be great...
ohh and about Rampage fight. you can clearly see rampage is such a good person that he forgive and he didnt want to make hamill look bad, thats why he didnt throw everything to knock him out. rampage knew since round 1 that he could destroy him, but he chose not to.
I did not notice this until my brother picked this out. Ariel Helwani asked rampage "Is Jon Jones next for you?" Rampage's response was 4:18 - 4:35 ---> Did anybody else notice how scared he looked when he answered the question?
@sliipknoot It is because Ariel Helwani is notorious for instigating fights. His job is to cover MMA, not promote it by instigating fights. He is also notorious for playing sound clips out of context just so he can instigate fights. That is why Rampage is messing with Ariel. Rampage is obviously joking around with Ariel, but some people take it too seriously.
Ariel is a true professional. They he was able to keep the interview going despite being mocked constantly was quite impressive. Rampage needs to grow up. He's acting like a bully.
@bearcatcow No you're wrong. Quinton seriously doesnt like Ariel for two reasons. The first is that Ariel brought up King Mo when Quinton wanted to be interviewed about Matt Hamill and Quinton didnt understand why he had to bring up King Mo. the second reason is that on a radio show Ariel got upset because Quinton called him the little mermaid. Ariel didnt say anything negative but got upset about the remark and gave Quinton a little bit of attitude.
ariel helwani is my hero. a brilliant mma interviewer, he asks the relevant questions that we all want to know the answer to, he asks intelligent questions, and most of all he handles assholes like rampage with pure professionalism. take no notice of that neanderthal rampage, ariel, you are doing a great job and from the comments here people like you more then that animal who deserves to be in a cage, and by cage i dont mean the octagon.
@RastaTrent Word. People just rather have a predictable suit with a mic instead of a personality like Rampage they cannot identify with because he's uncomfortable to them. Just listen to what he says in the first moments of the interview 'We human beings dawg". Exactly. Clearly he was hurt , annoyed, angry about some comments or questions by Helwani. Don't take side's so easily people, this is no good guy - bad guy situation unless you make it one.
@theez14 if you watch one of Ariel's interview Rampage told him he wouldnt do the interview if it wasnt his friend who asked him. and a lot of times fighters have to do the post fight interviews with reporters. Nick diaz once in an interview said to Ariel " i wasnt gonna do the interview, but they told me I had to..."
@hulilutteri - Bro, you just lost your house! Ariel started this "beef" (if you can call it that) on his MMA Hour show. Ariel is a great interviewer, and I like his direct approach very much. But sometimes his questions can be somewhat insinuating and lead to misinterpreted answers from fighters. Rampage and his team felt that Ariel was instigating problems for Rampage via the questions he asked (look it up). And it's not the first time either. Nick Diaz also had the same issue with him.
Rampage trying to hate him so bad but he's having fun with him haha
Fact s
They're joking idk how people are so dumb
2:25 Ariel's small nod to being smarter is fuckin hilarious.

4:55 Not the caameraman looking him up and down 😭
Love this interview Ariel, you are an awesome interviewer, you handled it beautifully, like the pro you are!
Rampage always pretending he's dumb. At least I hope he's pretending
Congrats to Ariel for being so professional. Gotta give the guy some credit

This is what Joe Rogan was talking about when he said Ariel is the best on interviews, he stays so positive and professional in the Nick Diaz interview and the Rampage interview.
4:53 the zoom onto his shoes was evil😭
😂
"You got crabs in your facial hair" LMFAO
Rampage is the king of the interview. From pride through till the present, fucking hilarious.
Just bc he acts outrageous? I feel like Ariel is the MVP here. Talking to a hostile, pumped up Rampage would be taxing but he still handled him
"Where you from in Canada?"
"Montreal"
"Well take your ass back to Montreal"
"Thank you for the time"
"Alright, get the hell out my face"
"That's how they squash it in Canada."
mma digest changed my bum life
I like that Rampage asked Ariel if he wants to "squash it".

THIS IS THE GREATEST INTERVIEW OF ALL TIME!!!!!
Only Rampage could get away with saying he likes to "throw them bungalows"
Best interview ever....

at 2:23 Rampage says "Guys like this.... they more intelligent than us"
Ariel nods "yes" lol
Props to Ariel for handling Rampage's bullshit so well. Rampage has the emotional control of a 5 year old.

Hahaha, finally a good Rampage interview, he's been so full of drama lately.
awesome interview!!
kinda reminds of me of Ali and Cosell. Not quite on the same level, but these two definitely have a comedic schtick going on here. Fun to watch
Two greats at what they do. No 💩 necessary. The entertainment is positive, get along and have fun

Always enjoy Rampage and Ariel Helwani interviews 😊
when ariel asked if he thought of him doing the fight.. i LOLD! hhaha
i liked him more in this interview then the last one
Ariel asks the though questions other reporters dont want to ask. Thats why he's the best reporter covering the sport
