Michael Kane Don't think so. Zero mma experience vs 40 plus mma fights. What will be do? Take him down? Maybe land some kicks and collect points for a decision? Just like Rampage said. He only wins a hi jitsu match.
He’s really outgoing, and in this day and age, media can’t be associated with people who do things like say “gay” or else for some reason everyone will attack them on it.
I got to know Rampage 20+ years ago. Saboba casino out door venue. He was to fight Marvin Eastman. He was brand new to the octagon. Hung out back stage. This man's a real good person. Humble and respectful. He put an impression on me. Who ever his character became for the camera, is what pays. Back stage dude's a warrior even without an audience.
Can someone please let me know if I'm the only one that has heard that most beautiful verb for the first time at 7:23 : "Sometimes he does *Nut-ride* the Jiu Jitsu guys." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I now have to figure out how to use the word "Nut-ride" in a sentence at least once a day. That's my new goal for increasing my vocabulary.
I don't hate him. I think he is funny as hell. Watch his stand up whenever I can find him telling Jokes. I just believe at times he is seeing something in a different view than the camera has and he thinks it landed and it didn't. or it being partially blocked and the angle at which he seen it he might not have seen the guy's hand up. Don't really know why he sees stuff I don't see. It is like that and I am not the only one who has said this.
Gotta love Rampage. Much love & respect to him. As well as Mayhem. Both stand up guys who deserve more respect than most that stepped into an octagon or squared circle.
All you have to do is listen to Joe Rogans podcast and you'll realize he's a great dude, hard worker and gives it his best. He's not perfect and doesn't claim to be!

+RJ B first of all how old are u? Character is a normal word in the English language. It doesn't just refer to the comics u read all day. Secondly I miss seeing him regularly in the limelight. I guessing your about 12 or something
Jacob Sirak no this video is about BJJ and how joe blows dudes who specialize in it. Joes statement counters this point and says how wrestling is actually more important. Ex: if you’re going against a bjj specialist but good at wrestling then you get to choose to box because they can’t take you down
Jacob Sirak yeah idk what to say bud you are wrong about this haha. Grapplers can’t control the fight. This video is about bjj. Joe is talking about wrestlers ability to control the fight NOT bjj. I know you aren’t trying to counter his point but you are because you don’t even understand what joe meant. Rampage even talks about how he is a wrestler in the video lmao. This video=all about bjj. Ability to control the fight=all about wrestling. Bjj and wrestling are not the same thing. Joes statement about wrestlers being able to control the fight has nothing to do with this video
Jacob Sirak your original statement is completely misguided. “Joe Rogan thinks ground game is the most important because it dictates where the fight takes place” this video is about rampage thinking joe is biased for Bjj guys and that statement is about wrestlers
I loved seeing this intellectual side of Rampage. What I loved more, though, was hearing him, a top-level MMA fighter, say that Joe Rogan would easily lose to him in an MMA fight. Joe Rogan seems to think that he knows everything about MMA, and one of the best in the world just said that he could barely last in an MMA fight.
That's a logical fallacy. Could Angelo Dundee last in a fight with Muhammad Ali? No, but he coached Ali. Could Eddie Futch beat Frazier? Could ANY fighter's coach beat the fighter they coach? Few if ANY. Joe is expected to know a LOT because he's a commentator. It would be silly to have a guy doing commentary that was ignorant of the sport wouldn't it?
What's a fallacy is Joe Rogan not giving any opinion he has about traditional martial arts any real support. All he ever does is trash talk and make it clear that he's just bummed he couldn't be successful in more than one arena. He got beat up by American kickboxers simply because he couldn't adapt his Tae Kwon Do skills to their game, so he bad-mouths Tae Kwon Do to cover it up. What Rampage makes clear is that all Joe does is bad-mouth other people to cover up his own shortcomings. He also doesn't know much at all if he says traditional arts have nothing to offer. Could someone who only knows MMA skills defend themselves against a knife, or multiple attackers?
MrSpoonydave How has Rogan gotten beat up? He was a high level TKD guy and has given a legit breakdown of why TKD is weak (lack of good hands), he is also a BJJ black belt. The lack of support comes from few traditional MA-ists being effective in MMA. Machida is an exception, but he has had to adapt Shotokan to MMA for it to work. He (Rogan) does say the occasional thing that I don't agree with but what commentator doesn't? At least Rogan has fought at a high level. Goldberg DOES suck, I'll agree with that. He has no insight at all.
SCROGY Joe said himself that he got beaten up by kickboxers when he fought them using competition TKD. What he doesn't understand is that if competitive TKD had greater contact, people would die often, simply because of the effectiveness of the art. Several people have died when hit by TKD kicks just under their chest pads in competition. The only reason someone would be ineffective out of their element is their failure to adapt, and rank and fighting experience cannot overcome superior strategy and technique, which MMA has yet to develop on its own. Can you cite anything that isn't circumstantial, or is that all you have?
Rampage will always be my favorite. He was old school who met new school. But his interviews were second to none. So funny! Remember when Rampage won a big fight, and during the interview, they asked where he would be in 2 years? His response was quick. He said, "I'm 23 now, and in 2 years I will be 25". I lost it! The new school MMA fighters went to school during early UFC and Pride. They learned to succeed in mma, they needed to learn bjj and muay Tai. This became the new school. But I miss when styles verses styles dictated fights. It was the individual slightly more than the style. Remember Sabaroba [sic] and Cro Cop.
I had no idea rampage was such a stand up dude he actually seems 100% genuine I know he messes with Ariel but I wish I saw this stuff back when he was fighting I would have followed him much more
Joe Rogan is a comedian. I agree with Rampage commentators need to respect fighters. I feel before you become a commentator you should be a professional MMA fighter not just someone who practice MMA.
I agree with u to a point, but Joe does have a wealth of knowledge about the sport. If he could learn how to be unbiased towards fighters then me as well as the general community would like him a lot better. He should commentate on the sport and the action in the octagon but don't criticize the fighters when he hasn't been in any fights professionally. It's a different world when ur actually fighting, ur not gonna have the perfect technique and ur gonna make mistakes.
Joe was a fighter and competed at the elite level in tkd not mma but he's was a fighter nonetheless and a martial artist who spent years understanding all the arts.
*During high school, Rogan was a practitioner of Taekwondo and gained a black belt at age 15 He soon became the Massachusetts full contact Tae Kwon Do champion four consecutive years. By the age of 19, Rogan won the US Open Tae Kwon Do Championship and, as lightweight champion, went on to beat both the middle and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship. He started judo at the age of 20 and after a year of training received blue belt. In 1996, Rogan began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Carlson Gracie at his school in Hollywood, California. He is a black belt in Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, a style of no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a black belt in gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado. His record as a kickboxer is 2-1*
Wanderlei is Joe's favorite fighter because he stands and bangs with people... I don't see how he favors grapplers. Sure he spends more time explaining what's going on while on the ground, but that's only because most casuals don't know what grappling is tbh.
I want to like Rampage, because he can be really charming, warm and friendly when he wants to be. But there are some times when he just acts like a real jerk and that's a shame.
Maybe Joe is just trying to equalize it out. When there is stalling in the stand up which happens soo soo much, you don't see them stop the fight and bring itto the ground do you. No, they stop fights and bring it back to the stand up which favors boxers etc!
