George is a genuine, sincere man who cares about the fans. He came to Las Vegas, NV for 2013 LVCS. We honored him for his entertainment and humanitarian contributions. I admire him and am happy to call him my friend.
I believe that George Lazenby is one of the very few movie stars that I would love to have a sit-down conversation over a beer or two or three, etc.. He is a great talker. There is nothing pretentious about him - in other words, he is so down to earth. Hell, I would even pick up the tab. Sure wish he would have made more Bond films. He was offered a contract to do seven more Bond films and he was also offered a million dollars on top of this to sign. Talk about wanting to do things his own way. Thanks, George, for one great movie.
As someone who grew up seeing the Roger Moore and Sean Connery films, I didn't see this one until fairly recently and I was blown away how great it was and thought what a shame he didn't do more. He should have at least done Diamonds Are Forever and maybe Never Say Never Again lol.
Technically, Kevin McClory could have remade Thunderball/Never Say Never Again as many times as he liked. Would've been cool to see the story re-done with George Lazenby, I'll admit. :D
I personally enjoyed George playing James Bond 007 and thought he could have done at least one more. George had all the right qualities of Bond. He was the closest Bond actor to Sean Connery of all the other 007 Bond’s.
Lazenby was contracted to do Diamonds Are Forever and chose to leave during filming of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. He could potentially gone on to be in 5-7 films in total had he not listened to his manager and kept professional on set as he hurt his relationship with the producers and director Peter Hunt due to his behavior and stating to others that he was leaving the role of James Bond to be successful in other films and didn’t need James Bond anymore which angered producers.
Cant believe that was almost 50 years ago when that film came out . That documentary he did about his adventure getting the part on Hulu isn't that bad . He could had been a major star but was just a drop of water in a hot skillet . As fast as he became Bond , he stepped out to be a nobody again. At least he was in one of the best chapters of the series at the end of the sixties that made Bond that Icon . For a long time , he was remembered as that one guy who played Bond but thanks to the internet they know his name is George Lazenby .
Had he stuck around as Bond and stuck to his deal of contract to be potentially in 6-7 James Bond films total after he initially was to return for Diamonds Are Forever could have been very successful as James Bond. Leaving prematurely from the role and his strained relationships with Producers Broccoli and Saltzman along with Director Peter Hunt mostly because of his cocky and youthful attitude along with his difficult behavior sealed his fate. He annoyed the producers when he said to others he didn’t need the James Bond series anymore and could be successful in other movies including martial arts films. During filming of OHMSS he announced his resignation from the role. Had he stuck around he would have so many stories to tell fans and been more successful if he would have 5-7 films he would have been Bond in 1970s and not Roger Moore.
his film is still my fav, well it's on Par with Skyfall now. funny how it's the actors that everything thinks will never succeed have the better films. there was just an Energy with OHMSS,
Ronan O’Rahilly was the jerk-off who advised George to give up the role. He was a movie gadfly who knew nothing about the business; pity that George fell under his spell! And as a newcomer, he had to deal with the quirks of Peter Hunt and Diana Rigg. As if that weren’t enough, that hoodlum Broccoli put out the word against him, and his word carried a lot of weight. “The Equalizer” story by itself is appalling! By the way, Harry Saltzman planned to use George in other productions, which unfortunately never came to fruition. Imagine, too, if Bruce Lee had survived! In the end, George Lazenby remains the best James Bond, in the best Bond film. Despite his career difficulties, it may be just as well that he didn’t stick around for the next three pieces of crap - all directed by Guy Hamilton.
George should know that he has lots of fans, and his Bond film is easily one of the top five best Bond films.

Brilliant interview: his interviews are always spontaneous, but solid! And, his performance in OHMSS...ironically, has become the iconic Bond movie.

Goerge you're a Legend to all the James Bond fans around the world.

It's a shame that George didn't get to do The equalizer as that for sure could have revived his career!
He played Bond again in a tv movie The Return of the Man From Uncle and in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
We LOVE you George!
He must get sick of answering the same questions over and over for the past 45 years.
A lifetime of regret for turning down the Bond series, the media and Hollywood was pretty hostile toward George at the time.

The filmmakers of Never Say Never Again had wanted George and Roger to appear in the film as well as Sean
Oh yeah he would have been good to do Never Say Never Again.
I saw her 2011 BCC interview and she's still holding a grudge, after 40+ years later? Yikes! >,
He's 74 this year... give the guy a break. He's aged a hell of a lot better than Moore did.
no they got on well together
