Just an FYI here Nick , California Trucks ( Duramax powered at least ) got EGR systems as early as 2002 ( I have an LB-7 of that year) in my truck & it has one . Thankfully it’s NOT given me any issues in my almost 22 years of ownership so far . I DID have to replace the vacuum pump 2 years ago that has a connection hose to the EGR diaphragm that controls it’s open & closed cycles , but other than a check engine light that came on when vacuum signal was lost (. Thank God for Internet forums ) I was able to figure it all out & replaced pump. Thanks for all you post buddy . I’m curious to see what my intake looks like inside some day , but until I need to tear into my engine for some reason I’m leaving well enough alone !! 🤞😎👍
As a diesel guy who lives in an emissions compliant area, you guys are awesome. One of the things that quickly started turning me off to diesel was the responses to questions online about modifications without deleting. Every forum is the same.
Question-have a problem/I want to upgrade.
Response-delete.
But I live in an emissions required area
Response-move
It gets depressing seeing people so short sighted. I’m not saying the emissions crap is good, but it’s required. And I like where I live.
You guys offer the best stuff for us who don’t have the luxury of deleting.
And considering how emissions have been getting stricter, your work will be much more widespread.
Msd42276 Decoop I agree, I see a lot of isb’s in boxtrucks and commercial trucks and see them go 300,000+ with very little issues
Never understood the whole moving thing. It doesn’t seem reasonable to put effort (and money) into moving just because you can’t install some truck parts. And what if you like your place of living?
😂🐑🐑🐑😂
Awesome Nick , you guys are are great. Chris is who has always helped me . He does a great job and always easy to talk you..
Good work i have learn a lot from your channel
love you guy can't wait till i get my dt750 trans and the stealth 64
Excellent video! Thank you!
Ive noticed the filters and catalyst evolving every couple of years but it's crazy they've come this far in 2020! How low is the NOx threshold on the automotive SCR system? Its unbelievable they can handle that much CFM's.
It's nice to see how it works, if I still had mine on there lol
So we are trying to reduce nox because it make bad ozone in a troposphere and ozone is heavier then air so it won't go into the stratosphere, right? But CFCs are several times heavier then air and the EPA says it goes to the stratosphere because of winds and jet streams... idk I'm not saying they are wrong but I have questions I guess no one else has asked.
Just pulled a egr and intake manifold off of a 2016 Powerstroke, all stock with 50k on it for maintenance. Completely sorted up with a 1/4” off soot inside the intake plenums.... absolutely worst thing a diesel could have on it. Not gonna change my mind since my 5.9 grid heater is completely clean and looks almost new with 260k on it. Truck runs just as clean as a new truck unless I rip on it. Also DEF is processed urea and creates extremely toxic emissions when burned much more toxic than NOX emissions and that’s been scientifically proven.... ya know when the vehicle goes into regen. Not to mention the added fuel consumption that these emission create by nurturing these trucks. It’s truly a shame what’s happening to diesels, they used to be reliable longevity fuel efficient machines... EPA gets their claws in the mix and now they are far from reliable and extremely inefficient. 6 MPG towing in stock form!?! Really. No thanks I’ll keep my 5.9 without any of that stuff that runs clean, reliable, fuel efficient, not being fed it’s own SH$T and will actually last.
R&W Diesel 💯 my 6.0 been deleted since day 1
That's a 6.7 furd for ya
DEF is not toxic. Wouldn't make sense to be put on trucks to reduce harmful emissions if it was.
That's comforting to see the egr system that clean running that power. With the twin turbo setup does dpf soot loading stay same or more or even less? Or since it's tuned are you able to passive regen more?
We saw the same or slightly better distances between regens.
What other supporting mods are done to this truck to make it run as efficiently as possible?
Nice Sonic 👍
How do EGR valves look after a truck has had it turned off/closed for over 50k miles or so?.
So what are your thoughts on a non def 2007.5, 6.7? Reliable like a 15 and newer?
I agree that all the new generation EGR systems are better quality and maybe require less maintenance. I do wish He had of finished the video with a inspection of the intake valves and intake plenum! That is where the real concern is.
We looked but didn't see any indication of problems.
So what’s the average percentage of fresh air to exhaust gas going into my engine?
Are you sure you don’t work for the EPA haha. Nah great video very good explication of the system. Thank you
This is good to see. I am personally someone who will keep the emissions systems on my truck if I go to buy one. It's illegal to remove them, which means any LEO could pull me over and flag me for it at any time if they really wanted to. It may not happen often, but it can.
However I think I will just go for an older model truck with just an EGR and get BulletProofDiesel parts on it (when it comes to emissions system equipped trucks).
Feel you there, thanks for the comment.
Good afternoon. I have RAM Cummins 2019. Tell me the best solution so that I can programmatically remove ecology (EGR, DPF, DEF), add horses, prescribe wheels, read/delete errors. Thank you.
I currently have a 2016 ram 2500 cummins that I deleted. I have been looking at putting all the stock parts back on and using an emissions compliant tune. Do you offer tuning for the EZ LYNK with SOTF?
EZ Lynk yes, and SOTF yes, but not SOFT with EZ Lynk quite yet. We should have that option up in the very near future.
When I pull the egr off my truck last summer( I’m in Canada) my egr valves, coolers and piping looked like that also with 400t km on it. But the Y bridge and intake ports going into the head is where it was built up and the valve ports were almost clogged right off. Not sure how it could make any power at all.
Because there all trying to feed us the crap that emissions are ok now when for years it was if you dont want problems delete .instead of lying to us they should be building a better dpf and egr then they can have my money.
I'm very interested in running your tuning setup on my 80k mile 2013 2500 68RFE truck, are you seeing any issues with DPF failures or other issues when you tune a higher mileage truck? Thanks for the video on the EGR system, I learned a lot from it!
Not at all. We tune a lot of trucks with that type of miles on them.
@@Duramaxtuner I went to your website. What do I need to buy for an emissions safe tune on my diesel 2018 Ram 2500? Do I. It the EZLink and then you send me a tune for it?? Sorry not sure how it works and what kind of gains to expect.
@@TheBrokerLife This is exactly the product you need. It will have the hardware and tuning you need. (It's also on sale right now). duramaxtuner.com/diesel-tuning/switch-on-the-fly-tunes-incl-ez-lynk-auto-agent-2-0-cummins-6-7l-2018.html
@@Duramaxtuner thank you!!
Do you often see failures on LBZ Duramax EGR systems? If so, are there any upgrades to EGR components to make this system more robust?
No upgraded EGRs that I know of, we do see higher levels of failure with anything prior to 2011-2013. the best thing you can do is diligent maintenance.
Bulletproof diesel is your best choice. We use them all the time for our DT maxxforce engines and they have yet to fail. They're not cheap but failures are nonexistent now.
I would like to see how stopped up the heater grid is.
It wasn't. we checked.
Any oil Analysis? Is there any harm done long term by having emissions intact?
Honestly, we are all stuck with emissions intact regardless if it did shorten the total life of these trucks. What we can say, is that after 80K hard miles, this system isn't showing any signs of premature wear and tear. I really am not sure how long term of testing would need to be done. If this is how it looks at 80K miles of abuse (more abuse than any normal person would put their truck through) I would say that is all the long term testing i personally need.
I want to see the grid heater.
It was clean.
Let’s revisit that truck now. It’s been 2 years since this video.
Here you go! Published a few weeks ago =) ua-cam.com/video/y3uQFwTa-NU/v-deo.html
Y'all are coming out with Stealth 64 for 4th gen cummins?
Yes sir! Sometime later this month or early April.
@@Duramaxtuner Awesome been waiting on that. My brother has a 2012 6.7 that he is actually having to replace the stock turbo on. Always thought a stealth 64 for the 4th gen would be an awesome upgrade. Look forward to the release.
EGR failures are common on the Ecodiesel.
@Duramaxtuner will their be a video for GM?
The concepts from this video apply across the board for all OEMs.
Phillip Whittaker Their who?
Are all these miles with the stock trans but with your tcm tuning??
@duramaxtuner
Yes, that is correct.
Should I take off and clean the EGR valve once and while? If so how often? Thanks
We really have not found that necessary. Every 60K-100K miles it's probably worth a look depending on how hard you are pushing the truck.
@@Duramaxtuner great thanks so much
I have a 2007.5 Cummins and I am interested in doing compounds?
815-568-7920, give us a call and we can walk you through some options.
What is the tuning power level differences between a deleted truck and a truck with emissions intact ?
It varies based on the platform and year a little but generally about 10 HP.
@@Duramaxtuner Ok so your saying if I use your equipment and emissions intact tuning I will have pretty much the same amount of gains with hp and torque as I would if I went did a full delete and tuning with only around a 10hp difference between the two different setups ?
@@edmitchell9182 yes
@@Duramaxtuner Ok I'm interested what's the best way to contact and message you about my options ?

The best EGR on a diesel engine is one that has been removed. Nothing good can come of a diesel engine via EGR. THE END.
Thanks for watching the video ;)
I have an LLY. '04 1/2. What should I be worried about with the EGR system on this truck? Anything in particular I should look for?
Leaking exhaust or coolant would be signs of failure.
I have a 2018 ram 6.7l . How much does this setup cost?
duramaxtuner.com/vehicle-type/dodge/cbm-2006-2007/2013-cummins-aurora-5000-vortex-twin-turbo-kit.html
Very nice,thank you!
Whose compound turbo setup?
That was the ATS compound kit.
With 600+ HP what kinda fuel mileage y'all getting?
If you drive it with a light foot we still see high teens to low twenties. If you're doing full throttle pulls all the time those MPG numbers are going to drop.
Sure no EGR failures but DEF failures all the time now. It's all has to be taken off the truck. They run way better.
This truck has not had any DEF issues either.
I have an ‘18 Ram that lost the DEF pump and the SCR at around 34k. All combined it was close to a $4000 dollar fix, all under warranty but still, this emissions equipment is too expensive. I have 58k on it now and if an emissions related part fails again, it’s all coming off. One of you creative companies needs to produce some less expensive emissions replacement parts or build us some serviceable (cleanable) parts that don’t just fail and require a loan to swap out. The nice thing about it not being on the truck anymore means I don’t have to replace it anymore. We can’t afford it.
You need to delete the egr
It's cool, don't worry about watching the video and learning something. We appreciate the comment. Make sure to subscribe tot he channel ;)
so.....the president of duramaxtuner drives a WHAT? tsk tsk tsk...
just messing with you.
Shhhh...... He drives a lot of things hahaha
@@Duramaxtuner If you ever visit Japan and get to visit the Toyota Museum in Aichi, you will find lots of historical Toyotas...but also cars that Toyota considers cool and important to automotive history no matter the manufacturer. Super cool museum.
The engine would be much more reliable without dumping exhaust gas into it, as it add more wear to the valves, piston, cylinders plus oil dilution & air dilution in the combustion chamber.. Then again, most every gearhead knows that.
Don't git us wrong, if EGR's were optional, we would opt out. In reality the EGR isn't going anywhere any time soon. We figure it is better to learn about it and focus on how to keep it reliable instead of just ripping it off and risking huge fines.
