This is definitely the best and most in depth review of this car that I have seen. A lot of reviewers just seem to harp on the fact that it is slow and never get beyond that in the review.
I commute 40mins one way a day with a 2011 Prius. When I drove a 2012 CT200h, I felt like it accelerated faster and smoother than the Prius. I believe I would be able to recognize the difference since my extreme familiarity with the Prius, but I didn't do any measurements so I can't say for sure.
That's some incredible filming. Do you work for the dealers and have your own camera crew? These reviews look more and more professional. I remember when you were a scrawny kid from down the block filming yourself all the time, now you make incredible quality reviews with cars that can range above 100k.
For those of us who are old enough to love the look of the Nakamichi equipped Lexuses, this radio is great. And I judge audio equipment on how it sounds not how it looks. Still a good review that as an owner I agree on just about every point. I have had my fast cars. Now I drive to work in traffic and this car is perfect for that job.
looks like the radio was put in as an afterthought, "Oh, Mr Designer, you forgot to put in a radio" "Aw shucks! no problem,I will remove the cup holders and put in a radio from our 90's parts bin"
This really makes me appreciate what Honda did with the CR-Z. Especially 2013-2016 models that include the S+ button on the steering wheel for a temporary additional boost from the electric motor. Love that the CR-Z is offered in a 6-speed manual as well. Although it perplexes me that Honda didn’t offer a sunroof in the US or back seats. I do like the look of this Lexus better, but the CR-Z is a clear better choice for me personally.
Thanks for the review, very well done. I've been looking at picking one of these up as a DD and you had all of the exact same feelings I did. Gosh, that radio is really holding me up. IT IS SO TACKY.
Thanks for the great video subaruwrxfan, I love how you always have a positive tone to every car you review and never really bash on any car. I have been interested in this car, the scion frs (Toyota gt 86) and the Chevy camero for quite some time. Cause I believe a slightly used version of any three are about in the same price range. I really liked the ct200h cause it's nice and it would save me on gas. But I'm confused on saving money on gas or driving something that will make me smile. What would you're thoughts be between these three cars? Ps. You're a good car reviewer and I wish you all the success you deserve.
They didnt take the radio out of a 90s toyota. Its a design choice. And for someone that grew up with 90s Japanese car this is an awesome throwback. The whole interior is a throwback to the 90s. Its perfect.
Thanks for the review. Gas just hit $4.00 a gallon again and I'm thinking of replacing my aging Dodge Magnum RT with this. You can get a 2012 for 10-12k now! Great deal! Plus it uses less expensive Prius parts for repairs.
seriously considering buying this as a first car, I liked this because it’s small, comfy, sporty (ish 😂) and I love the reliability. I plan on using it daily for my college commute, and I like the gas economy, used for both city and highway. any suggestions?
Wonder if you bought it, it’s a solid car. My best friend has one and lent me it while i was back in my hometown. I really liked it and now own a toyota
I have a 2011 ct with the nav package and lemme tell u its very nice and comfortable and very cheap to service and repair and I have 175,000 miles on it with no problems at all, I would definitely recommend this over other cars and u can also pick one up for cheap.
Ok if the interior is well taken care of as well the exterior.. no nav package. Over 200k miles on it for $4500... Please reply by tomorrow morning 🛂😪🔮
These type of cars are good for if you just live in the city but still need a car. Like if you live in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore or D.C etc perfect for parking size, and for gas but that's it. It's a cool looking car just not my taste
Was checking out your review as I am shopping for a 2014 version. Wanted to mention that the large bin on the center console is there for those that do not get the packages that include the Lexus mouse controller. The top of the small bins is meant to go with a Lexus cell phone holder that slips inside it.
What a great review! You must have a different suspension set up in the US (or smoother roads) to UK cars as our versions certainly aren't smooth riding... they're appalling and is the single reason that stopped me buying. I so love the ct therefore I am hoping the 2014 with the suspension revisions will make it smoother riding.
When I watched the intro of this car I thought "what a nice looking car, what a lines and body" then I read the title "200h" I realized it is actually a Hybrid and by the way I'd reccomend this car to a few people who don't wanna have fun at driving..
I’ve had one for a year now, 2013 with Nav. Love it, and a perfect compliment to my fun car. Most of those random “cubbies” in the center console are used by the nav. The non-nav version is really bad!
this is kinda strange, i watched one of 2012 ct200h and there radio was with white modern small screen looking like LED. Also that one had screen on top of the dashboard. That was in europe, maybe lexus used some left over parts?
That two finger slot area is for you to insert the cellphone/gadget Lexus plastic holder. You can see this on the CNET review. The holder and placement was poorly designed though.
"Then you have another little slot here, I have no idea what you could put in there, you can fit about two fingers in there and that's about it." Hmmm.... :)
Really good review man. I'm picking mine up on Saturday. Just wanted to point out 9:20 - where the hell do you live?? LOL. Looks like Blade Runner. My guess would be Pennsylvania or Ohio.
Just because something is old, doesn't mean it's not quality. Sure, the radio may be dated and look sloppy, but that's more of a grievance aesthetically, not one of functionality, quality, or durability. The 90's Lexus' were legendary in their reliability. Not saying you can't complain about the radio, but perhaps use a different word besides 'lacking quality'.
Happy new year from Germany your vids are awesome! :) is there any chance you can review an Alfa Romeo? I know they are very rare in USA but may be u get a Chance :) i drive one myself. So wish you all the best keep goin' :)
So this or a Mercedes B250, please? I know the mercedes is not as fuel economical, but with that aside at about the same price. Main concerns are: Space, fuel, luxury, comfort, look and reliability.
You should compare the Volt with a review. I believe lots of people underrate it. It has quite a lot of tq and is quick and quiet inside. I would be interested in seeing you review it. That lexus was quite noisy with that annoying engine buzzing. I have heard the volt is much much quieter and faster with its 8.5 sec 0-60.
Well while looking at volt stuff, I just noticed badnewsracing offers a tune for it dropping its 0-60 into the mid 6s lol. I guess chevy is limiting that tq too much.
helpful review. i really like the style of these cars. but i just cant deal with such horrible performance. i have more power, a bigger motor, and no hybrid system and get 40+ mpg out of my mazda 3 skyactiv. and its actually fun to drive..!!
This was a fun review to watch. You should do more negative reviews, even though it might not be fun for you, its funny to watch. Don't be afraid to hate a car! I like when you went over the random little pockets in the center console and the terribly outdated radio. Shameful Lexus!
This is not a negative review; he says it's a great car! Did'nt you watch the entyre video? Ofcourse he found some minor issues, but the message is absolutely not negative!
Australia have a really upmarket CT200h compared to this. The radio isn't like that at all. It's blended into the dash like a typical luxury car should.
I love a prius but I really wish they made a lexus version of it that was acutally lexus like while retaining prius mpg.. The CT200 doesn't look more premium onthe inside than an upper trim prius does :/
If your a car guy you can get a smile in everything its not always about the power I mean when you floor it its not fast it may be slow but you're flooring it and thats the point If I can find joy in my moms 60HP hyundai shopping cart I can squeeze a smile out of my face in nearly everthing except a prius thats not possible cause its a f*cking Prius
This is definitely the best and most in depth review of this car that I have seen. A lot of reviewers just seem to harp on the fact that it is slow and never get beyond that in the review.
The left cubby is meant for the remote controller if you have the navigation package.
The right one is for an electronics holder
I commute 40mins one way a day with a 2011 Prius. When I drove a 2012 CT200h, I felt like it accelerated faster and smoother than the Prius. I believe I would be able to recognize the difference since my extreme familiarity with the Prius, but I didn't do any measurements so I can't say for sure.
I love the radio, 90s were the best era of japanese cars
Performance aside I like the look of these cars. Reminds me of a 1st gen Mazda3
This is the only hybrid i'd ever want to own or drive.
Not the Cr-Z?
Or the outlander phev?
@@joshuanishimura1131 I was thinking the same. This and the crz.
918 was leaked before this comment 😭😭😭
I always thought these cars were nice but just really slow, but now that gas is $7 it is looking like a very desirable car to me.
I’m planning on buying one very soon 😄 40+ mpg even at 80mph on the highway sounds pretty good to me 😂
That's some incredible filming. Do you work for the dealers and have your own camera crew? These reviews look more and more professional. Just bought a 2012 this weekend. Love it!
@@marquegibson512 how is it holding up now? Im planning to buy one

What ?! The old-school radio is AWESOME !!!
looks like the radio was put in as an afterthought, "Oh, Mr Designer, you forgot to put in a radio" "Aw shucks! no problem,I will remove the cup holders and put in a radio from our 90's parts bin"
Just choose the Mark Levinson version . It's perfect !
This really makes me appreciate what Honda did with the CR-Z. Especially 2013-2016 models that include the S+ button on the steering wheel for a temporary additional boost from the electric motor. Have owned one for over 5 years and one of the best cars i have owned . Absolutely no issue at all
Thanks for the review, very well done. I've been looking at picking one of these up as a DD and you had all of the exact same feelings I did. Gosh, that radio is really holding me up. IT IS SO TACKY.

"AHA!! Not really..." 😂 that was great but I love lexus/Toyota so I'd rate this car 10/10
They didnt take the radio out of a 90s toyota. Its a design choice. And for someone that grew up with 90s Japanese car this is an awesome throwback. The whole interior is a throwback to the 90s. Its perfect.
i like the basic old school look of the radio...
Have you ever gotten stopped by the cops (for any reason) while filming a car review? Happy new year!
No, thankfully I haven't. Happy New Year to you as well!
Thanks for the review. Gas just hit $4.00 a gallon again and I'm thinking of replacing my aging Dodge Magnum RT with this. You can get a 2012 for 10-12k now! Great deal! Plus it uses less expensive Prius parts for repairs.
props for doing the video in the snow

The weight is nice because having the batteries in the back keeps weight on all 4 wheels, rather than just the front.
5:22 That little slot you don't know what it's good for... It's a quarter holder so that you can easily keep your toll road money quick at hand.
Heh heh back when tolls could be paid with the amount of (US) coins that would fit there.

Finally someone who just gives his honest opinion and personal thaught about a car
Great review, keep it up! Happy new years dude
nice review I really like your honesty keep doing like this :)
if this car was well maintained what would the engine go to?
Very nice, concise review with plenty of core details.
Thanks so much!
Very professional review! Great camera work!
Sounds to me that this was made to drive around a retirement community at 15 mph!
I like your honest reviews
The storage pockets are strange and also the green screen sucks too. However both of these are fixed with the tech pack
4:59 That's where you put your chili dog LMAO
The wide to thin thing cubby is for the mouse that controls the navigation system
No, it's not. That "mouse" is fixed, not detachable.
These type of cars are good for if you just live in the city but still need a car. Like if you live in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore or D.C etc perfect for parking size, and for gas but that's it. It's a cool looking car just not my taste
it´ll be great as a second car as daily driver, save money to mod the weekend car

Good review. I love this car, but I was hoping you'd get a 2014 version review as they are coming out soon.
very funny and honest review on this car.lol enjoy your video as always
Happy new year subaruwrxfan!
Happy New Year to you too!
The small rectangular cubby hole is a cell phone holder that comes with some models. Very cheap plastic but convenient.
When I watched the intro of this car I thought "what a nice looking car, what a lines and body" then I read the title "200h" I realized it is actually a Hybrid and by the way I'd reccomend this car to a few people who don't wanna have fun at driving..

Most of those random “cubbies” in the center console are used by the nav. The non-nav version is really bad!
@subaruwrxfan you should review an integra! Even though they're kinda old they're still running well!
lol the radio is literally straight from a 90s LS400
Why change perfection, right?
this is kinda strange, i watched one of 2012 ct200h and there radio was with white modern small screen looking like LED. Also that one had screen on top of the dashboard. That was in europe, maybe lexus used some left over parts?
That two finger slot area is for you to insert the cellphone/gadget Lexus plastic holder. You can see this on the CNET review. The holder and placement was poorly designed though.
It's probably been asked already, but it would be awesome if you could review an IS 350 F Sport. Your videos are great - keep it up!
That is actually one of the biggest trunks that I have seen in a hatchback.
Toyota Matrix destroys it on cargo space.
ytmndan lol
"Then you have another little slot here, I have no idea what you could put in there, you can fit about two fingers in there and that's about it." Hmmm.... :)
Really good review man. I'm picking mine up on Saturday.
Just wanted to point out 9:20 - where the hell do you live?? LOL. Looks like Blade Runner. My guess would be Pennsylvania or Ohio.
the two fingered slot is for a phone holder that lexus sells and the shallow one is for the nav controls on a car that has nav
I loved this review, very detailed. Good channel. Looking to buy a car what do you think is better? 2012 ct 200h vs 2012 ford fusion hybrid?
Kaan T In my opinion, you should go for the Ct200h. 1, its worlds more reliable, and it's a Lexus. Much more comfortable.
Just because something is old, doesn't mean it's not quality.
Sure, the radio may be dated and look sloppy, but that's more of a grievance aesthetically, not one of functionality, quality, or durability. The 90's Lexus' were legendary in their reliability. Probably the best car review I’ve seen so far.
Please review 2004-2008 Acura TL (Type-S) if possible. Great work as always and Happy New Year :)
I laughed so hard during the accelerations.
You should compare the Volt with a review. I believe lots of people underrate it. It has quite a lot of tq and is quick and quiet inside. I would be interested in seeing you review it. definitely needs a aftermarket stereo install for the screen/navigation etc.
Can you do a review on Lexus IS250/350 or ISF
What’s the difference between Base and premium models ???
helpful review. i really like the style of these cars. but i just cant deal with such horrible performance. i have more power, a bigger motor, and no hybrid system and get 40+ mpg out of my mazda 3 skyactiv. and its actually fun to drive..!!
Happy new yr! I was thinking about an odd review request that's different like a SVT Raptor or a truck. Something new for the viewers.
How are the speakers on this car?
I have a 2014 base model and the stereo is pretty bad.
This was a fun review to watch. You should do more negative reviews, even though it might not be fun for you, its funny to watch. Don't be afraid to hate a car! I like when you went over the random little pockets in the center console and the terribly outdated radio. Shameful Lexus!

Ofcourse he found some minor issues, but the message is absolutely not negative!
That car is good for one thing and that is STANCE. Which looks great going low and slow.
Would you prefer the CT200h or the CRZ?
Definitely the CRZ, it felt a lot more sporty.
My family owns a new 5 series, I love the interior. It's only about £33000.
Are you going to make a video on the new Chevy ss that is coming out?
I'd love to if I can find one to review!
Beauty and simple car

can you do the refreshed version of this car!?
Hi subwrxfan, can you do a C63 AMG review please?
can the radio be replaced and upgraded?
Is this car good for Uber and Lyft in New York?
Hi man Great video ! even i didnt like this car much xD
can you do a Renault laguna 2003 review ? it would be soo awesome thumbs up !
We don't have Renault in the United States.
ohh ok sorry i didnt know about that :)
Can you get a mic cover to reduce the wind noise?
Bought this car in 2011 sold it yesterday
A lexus hatchback. Too good
Do you have a last CT200h was made and informations ( safety future it came with it )
The Stereo looks like the one in my buddy's 95 Lexus SC 400.
9:21 nothing like a hybrid cruising along to the backdrop of heavy industry lol
If your a car guy you can get a smile in everything its not always about the power I mean when you floor it its not fast it may be slow but you're flooring it and thats the point If I can find joy in my moms 60HP hyundai shopping cart I can squeeze a smile out of my face in nearly everthing except a prius thats not possible cause its a f*cking Prius
I wish you can do one on a G37 IPL if not at least a Sport
The little slot is for quarters. Its a toyota thing. I use it in my sienna for parking meter money
Can't really fit quarters in there. Too shallow. If he had the nav system, it would control the angle of the display.
Funny, I've never seen one that had the storage cubby where the nav display would be.
that weird little thing you had no idea the storage thing is for coins fits 2-3 coins
Seems like you had way more fun in the CRZ...would you rather have that if you had to have a hybrid?
Yeah, I'd rather have the CRZ, it's a lot more sporty feeling.
Why is there a sport mode for a hybrid?
7:16 - "This car is very perplexing." (There you go--that's the take-home message.)
I wonder if maybe the car has to learn the driver
Great looks to this car......But that radio, ewww!
It's strange watching a normal car review after RegularCars.
All the missing pieces in the console are for the navigation and joystick
