  • Beginning in 2020, the Everett Railroad had not opened their season with the popular Steam into the Cove trips, which occurred on the Saturday closest to the first day of Spring. In returning to tradition, the Everett Railroad reinstated these trips to kick off the 2022 season.
2022 and these excursions brought some historic changes to the railroad. 2022 saw the conversion of 11 from a coal burner to an oil burner. When built in 1920, 11 was originally designed as an oil burner for use in Cuba. After the order was cancelled, the Narragansett Pier Railroad purchased 11 in 1923 and converted it to burn coal. Additionally, these excursions marked the first time the railroad used a consist comprised of solely pullman-green coaches. In 2021, the combine car number 23 received a fresh coat of paint and coach number 997 completed a full restoration.
Between the first revenue runs of 11 as an oil burner and the freshly restored passenger train, these trips were a sight to behold. So sit back, relax, and enjoy steam through the rural countryside of Central Pennsylvania.

Thanks, Vince! Glad someone noticed and appreciated the variety. That was my goal for this trip since I’ve been there a lot, but did the same few shots every time.

Nice video as always, Mark! While the change in fuel that 11 has received may seem a little jarring to some, I personally don’t mind it, mainly because she was gonna burn oil regardless, had she not stayed in the States. She’s still the same lovely little Mogul we know and appreciate.

Thank you, Ben! I agree with you. Sure I’d rather it be coal, but it makes it’s history come full circle, so it’s not a huge deal. Definitely glad I got to see it as much as I did while it was still a coal burner

@@MPT_Productions wouldn’t conversion of 38 kill its origin and heritage?? She ALWAYS had the Huntington broad top COAL CO heritage.

@@MPT_Productions I’m saying 38 was always a coal burner. What other railroads could use a 2-8-0 with decent tractive effort and horsepower
