    18:07 I hate having sell on fees on my contracts, the only way I have found to avoid this is in the very first step of wage negotiation (Unless the agent immediately presents a locked sell on fee) I add one myself and before I suggest the offer, I go to the drop down arrow on that clause and select "Exclude from negotiation". This makes it so that, from that moment on, that clause cannot be inserted into the negotiations by the agent, but you are still able to reintroduce it, if you change your mind.
    The catch is, because of this the agent will usually demand a bigger wage or "water" in the contract, but in my case I usually prefer to pay a bit higher wages to a young player and later on cash in the totality of the sell value, because that's how I make big money. Hope it helps!

    I also use the per/year format for wages. I manage in Romania, so that way at least the numbers look a bit brighter.
    Also, I remember back in FM 12 I was really desperate to keep a forward in my team that I gave him a 50% yearly wage raise on a 4-5 year contract. And then, when I realized he was getting me bankrupted, I tried selling him and no team would take him. Fun memories...

    Usually to avoid high sell-on fees for agents that tend to do that, i lock in a 5% sell-on fee on the profits (not the overall fee) and that is the cheapest way to get around it. will always be accepted and is a good bonus in the negotiations.

    Always do contract start date for the start of the following season.
    Delays the player getting an immediate hike in wages and you then get him for another year at his current wages 😎

  • @79AlienFinger79

    One more tip that I've found incredibly useful, especially with developing players: look ahead.
    If this is a player that you are definitely going to want/need to renew contracts with at some point, and you know you want them on your team next season, it will be cheaper to negotiate right away, particularly if they're going to be a better player next year.
    Get them to sign a contract starting at the end of the season, and do it early. This gives you two MAJOR benefits:
    1) They will ask for a cheaper contract now than they will in 8 months.
    2) When the next beginning-of-season transfer window opens, they have just signed a new contract, and won't want to move.
    Re-read that second one again. You read right. Those pesky 'Wnt' conditions, where Liverpool, Man City, and PSG all want to make a move for your wonderkid just when he's starting to get good? They become irrelevant for that transfer window. You get to keep your best young players (at least until the mid-season transfer window).
    Do note, however, that the 'just signed a new contract' effect doesn't start until the contract takes effect. If you're in early October, and you think big clubs will make a move for your player in January, then there's a chance you won't be able to hold on to them then. In that case, offering them an immediate contract might be the better option, even if it hurts. If you think you can dodge your way out of this transfer window (good relationship, great captain to intervene, the player is an influencial part of a social group and is happy about it - check the player's Happiness screen), the end-of-season contract might very well be your best bet.
    Something that can trip you up as well is if there is significant interest from other clubs already. In this case, the player might not be interested in negotiating at all. DO NOT DESPAIR. I have yet to find in FM22 that I can't swing it at some point if I offer it often enough. If the team is playing well, and morale is high, you might be able to get it done regardless.
    Dynamics, baby!

    One of the most OP feature in contracts options is the extension option (1, 2, 3 years). First, you get the player in your club up to 8 years maximum, but more, it will make it easier to calm him down if he wants to leave for a better club. When you activate the extension, ANY club interested won't be anymore (Even if he is a primary target of them for years), so the player will calm down and you will be able to sign him to another contract down the line..... and apply the same trick!!!

  • @treasuren
    @treasuren 2 роки тому +13

    With new signings, you can lower the signing bonus by just raising the Agent's fee a little. If the agent says the player wants a 8M signing bonus, and an 800k agent's fee, you can bump up the agent's fee to 1.2M and lower the player's signing fee to something like 4.5M
    You can thank me later ;)

  • @rayedaslam

    There's one thing that I do which I don't see a lot of people commenting about- Adding optional extension to the contract. I go for 3 years. And they accept it most of the time. So it is 5 years + 3 optional years and sometime even 1 year extension on the last year. This way I can have a player for 8-9 years on a single contract.

    Wages per year makes so much more sense! I played on weekly since FM 12 before finding your twitch channel around FM20 and when I tried it out myself it blew my mind how much better it was. Allocating money between transfer and wage, calculating how much money you will get after a player sale etc. On weekly wages you can easily get caught out paying players way too much instead of signing players on higher transfer fees but on lower wages. If you're still playing on weekly/monthly you should definitely try per year for a save. Ze you should make a video on this!

    In Spain and a few other countries there's a compulsory release clause. If you want to reduce wages just reduce release clause of the player.
    PS: this works only if you think the release clause already fixed by the agent is quite high. (eg - I'm okay with 130m release clause for my wonderkid instead of 150m. I'm absolutely fine with it boy)

I've got both Mbappe and Haaland in the 1st transfer window, paying like 13M upfront, 58M in installments and 3-5M in bonuses. I know I won't be selling them and when they are 34-35 and no longer useful, I'm happy to just get them off my wage list.

    Hey Zealand, thx for your quality videos! In FM 23 they changed a thing I absolutely hate. When I signed a new starter, like a top striker, i always removed as much bonus payments as possible. No appearance fee, nothing for scoring goals and so on because when you know he will play 30-40 games and will score most of your goals its so much cheaper to give him a bit more salary. In FM 23 I often had the issue that they were fine with a contract but cancelled it some time after because a special fee was missing. Hate it.

  • @britpoint7022
    @britpoint7022 2 роки тому +1

    On the sell-on fee, I'm not sure if you can get rid of it entirely, but if you want to reduce it the same trick I use to raise minimum fee release clauses might work. So if you know the agent is going to lock a release clause: 1) Instruct DoF to negotiate 2) Go to 'Change Contract Offer' 3) You can't add/remove clauses but you can raise the release clause as high as you like, and probably lower the sell on fee too. I always add some more water in the other cups when I do this. 4) You can't lock individual clauses doing this, so set the entire contract to non-negotiable.

  • @daye8734
    @daye8734 2 роки тому

    haven't had to use it as much, but a nice (but sometimes expensive) trick to get a really good deal on the table and have it accepted is to pay the agent a lot more than they would expect. This obviously depends on their own personality, but more often than not more money for them "suddenly" makes them like your offer more.

    I do contracts differently to a lot of people it seems.
    I'd rather pay someone £85,000 a week with no bonuses at all than pay someone £60,000 a week with a ton of bonuses.
    Because of the league I'm in (BAN save with Gibraltar) and the strength of my team, it would cripple me financially with bonuses given that my striker could easily bang in 5 goals a game or my winger could easily chip in with 4 assists. Don't wanna be paying that striker £10k per goal or that winger £8k per assist if I can help it.

    • @meowwww9275
      @meowwww9275 2 роки тому +3

      The second role thing is very specific, bigger clubs need dedicated staff roles so it will often determine the staff member to be too busy with their main role to take a side role. Also just fyi, you'll need to offer them the wages for both positions and a little extra for working them to the bone so it isn't cheap, you can usually save money by filling both positions separately but then you need to find 2 decent staff members instead of 1 so it is only really for when you can't.

I can then leave them the wages they want, and remove a load of other stuff. I forget the exact breakdown of "per game" bonuses but I think it works out to being 20-25% of the total weekly salary. The goal or assist bonus can run anywhere between 75-110% of the "per game" bonus and the amount you pay for them to sit out a game is exactly 25% of their "per game" average.
    That's usually how the computer breaks down these bonuses for players but Ive found that you can have a player agree to a lower per week salary if you give them more money per game just to show up and play.
    I could be wrong but I dont think the per game bonus counts towards your overall team salary. So if youre stuck in a rut with a player that will bring you above that weekly salary cap your club gives you then you can get them more money per game. Agents seem to have no problem with this either.

This can be proven by taking it out from a contract offer that has been accepted. The player will usually reject any changes in the contract that will negatively affect their position in said contract, no matter how little the changes are. In case of a forward or offensive minded mf, taking out an assist clause after the whole contract is accepted will result in said changes being refused. adding a bonus for reaching something like the ucl as a small club actually works super well as a small and poor club too.
    playing as le havre im lucky to finish midtable, but whats an extra 300k on a transfer if i get ucl football you know?

    Old comment but using DoF to start negotiations and insta changing offer kinda makes those annoying release clauses etc become soft ones and not locked ones, but than youre on mercy of what already been offered.

    Cuz of the beginning about yearly wage:
    Isnt the UK / Premier League the only ones that rly talk about weekly? Everyone i know from other Countrys (know people in sweden, poland, netherlands, portugal and mexico, myself im from germany) and what u read about transfers is like 90% in yearly wages (LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, whatever) and everytime i see a transfer from e.g. Bundesliga to Premier the wage is suddenly shown as weekly.
    What I see more and more getting closer to a "even devivide" is transfernews etc. talking about wages only in before or after tax sums, where i personally think after tax is useless (beside for the player himself ofcourse) because I as fan want to see what the club is paying not what the player gets.

    Hey, have you ever done a video about long term scout improvement?
    For example: I hired a spanish scout with adaptability 18, judging 18/18, but he only has knowledge of spain. So I though, this could be a potential good scout for south america and send him to scout there via region. 3 seasons later and that guy hasn't improved his knowledge notably... yeah!
    On the other hand it is really hard to find scouts with decent knowledge AND good stats in the game... So any long term advice for scout improvement? =)
    Thanks. mate

      just sign another scout that have knowledge of that county. eg: Brazil. There's always staff regens that you can sign.

    Always, always, always remove and exclude yearly wage rise percentages. Rather give them a bit more base salary then have people on year over year crazy wage rises.

    Forget negotiations. Wth is this shit in fm nowadays that you get multiple players asking for improved contracts almost every season. You would even see players that you renewed their contracts the year before doing that shit. Like wtfff!. I doubt it is that bad in real life

    One thing i noticed you didn't put an emphasis on is related to the player's desire to sign the contract (you can see that in the first screen around the middle on the left).
    I usually put a lot of emphasis on them wanting to join us without overextending with playtimes because i've noticed that this also influences their demands in salary a lot.
    A player who is interested to join when set to breakthrough prospect but becomes very interested if set to fringe player for example might be just as easy to use every now and then but end up asking for way lower salaries.
    In lower leagues, this is gold because that might make or break a contract for a player that might hand you a free promotion.
