Hey Zealand - great video series. One other thing I reckon would be good to test is whether having an AM and coaches (including fitness coaches) all with the same tactical style enhances player development. I was once able to get a coaching staff who all had a gegenpress style and I felt like the player development was much better than normal. Just a feeling though….
I thought everyone trained their players at the position or role they play at??? It’s incrises their familiarity in the tactic massively! Been doing it for years and always seen good increases in ability’s and mostly in game performance in every tactic
I've always done this. The exception is a position like pressing forward, I'll train them for the Advanced forward or Deep Lying Forward role, because I want their technicals addressed, and PF ignores them. Also, if I have a "Final form" I want my tactic to represent, and that's different from my current system (common when I'm new at a team and have to make due with players on hand instead of my players) I'll train the players I want in the future in the Final Form roles.
I usually train nybyouth players at their position until they are 20-21, then move them to role. So as an examlle. If i have a youth striker come in, ill train him at St, then when he turns 20, if hes a pressing forward, ill change his training to that specific role. By that time, hopefully, the attributes that arent a priority for the role will have been increased and make the player better overall.
I don't. I determine which attributes that I want the player to work on , and I find a training position that focuses on those attributes. i think training the tactic is what grants familiarity best, NOT individual positions.
I'm so glad you mentioned individual role training. Outside of your actual training schedule this is how I've been training since fm21. Out of all of your training videos this one I think is the most helpful for those that are new or struggling with getting the most out of someone
I can tell a difference since I switched to the Zealand training schedule. My players are developing well. Even the players in my B team that I generally ignore while I try to sell them or wait for their contact to run out have been improving.
I tend to try and get the best staff i can for my team and probally will be their for 2 hours (roughly) searching for staff at the start of a save as i had a feeling it could make a difference in how the team would play and now ive had it proved. I loved the training series so far as its been very informative
One thing I have noticed with the "praising" and "criticizing" is that how the players react is also personality based. If players have a "better" personality, then you can praise them if they are 7.00 or above, but other players with worse personalities you cant praise until they hit 7.75
On the flip side, I've had an absolute nightmare with Temperamental personalities on Football Manager. Woe betide the person who dares to criticise a Temperamental player for a bad training score or bad game.
It's funny in my schalke04 save (first season) I didn't have a sport cientist, and not only I'd have always one or two injury's, but they were severe. Not a one to 3 days but for 4-5weeks. It's funny realizing it in insight after seeing your video.
0:50 When I restarted the Newcastle save, I didn't realize how poor injuries and youth development got. I started later in the year, this Monday (April 25, or ANZAC Day) game time using Canadian database, actually. The injuries piled up in just 2 months that my first order of business in the new season wasn't on the transfer market, but to poach staff from Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
Probably small, I'm sure in (hover over details) player interests in join your team Eg. Even if you have the money Messi won't join your half star training facility... Very low interest in joining. You just have to pay 50million more to make it worth while for Messi etc In a way it's realistic. A barbell is the same in a 7star hotel or in the backyard. It just helps a bit if it's got nice floor padding, showers, chalk etc
I’ve always left general training to a good Assistant Manager and just controlled individual training myself, particularly the role I want them to play. Never done anything else. I can usually win the premiership with West Ham every season using a 442 with 3 Team Instructions. never rated faffing around with training as in real life the manager delegates it. Never bother praising players for training though, will try that.
I have the must injurys (and really heavy!) ever since I play FM. But I also have the most attributes increase ever. The only way to avoid the injurys for me was to give players with very high risk injury risk, 1-2 days off. The only one good thing was I must use my 16 Year old Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sporting CP), because my other Forwards where injured...and he scored in the last minute against Barcelona the 1:0 in CL Group stage 🤪
Had to switch alot with the training intensity. Because with alot of matches I think it might be just a bit much. Almost never in the season was double intensity do able for the starting players. Only for the players who only played 2/3 matches a month did double intensity work. Some starters were even on half intensity for months. They did progress tho.
Thanks for the great guides youve made, over the years - have helped me undertsand different aspects of the game!! I^ve finally taking over training for all my teams now (youth/23 etc). One question thou - is there a way to set up training matches for the youth teams on a predetermed day - like wednesday - instead of sat/sun - and let my youth team managers handle it? Or do I have to do it manually like i do now for all of my 3 teams? I like to take semi-pro clubs up the system, and want to max out training and match days - and keep the youth/reserves ready if main team needs then at the wekend matchday. Thanks in advance!!
should i let my sport scientis(ss) to arrange the training intensity because ss always tell me to lower the intensity but ı have a feeling that if i do what ss says player will develop less i'd appreciate if anyone helps thank you
the best coaches spawn in as head of youth developments with some capacity to coach. if you fill up your staff with these guys you will always overachieve
What is a good coach? I vaguely recall FM scout having a calculator that inour their attributes to calculate their star rating, and iirc it used the Discipline, Determination and Man Management, alongside the relevant coaching attributes, but is this still the same in fm22?
Can you please tell me wheter the training plan you showed in one of your last videos is also suitable for the u19? or should I use some other training there?
I was just looking at how my players actually progressed under Zealands schedule and after 1.5 seasons players have lost attributes more that they gained any. Maybe I am an excemption, but I can not recommend them at all. I adjusted the schedule do my league calender, but that didn't do anything. A lot of Injuries and literally no progression. The entire squad has more reduction in traits than anything else. I may not have the best training staff and no player is above PA of 150, but according to his spreadsheet that shouldn't matter. My staff and facilities are better than Alaves in his sheet. Not sure what Zealand and his team were testing, but it didn't work for me.
Have you run this test on a top team playing a full league/cup/champion's league schedule? I wouldn't be surprised if if the effects of avg vs perfect and 1 vs many become more pronounced at that level.
Great video that highlights a lot of points that should be obvious but can be easily overlooked. Question ... does the personality of the coaches affect the development rate of players the same way as the players personality does? And if so to what aspect? For instance, would a coach with a model professional personality but only a training attribute (lets say defence) of 12, be better than a coach with a balanced personality but training attribute of 16?
Shouldn't physios help with recovery after matches? I haven't done any tests, but I thought they where very important for keeping the condition high and the fatigue low.
good video i use the xbox version on my xbox x training is sorta generalised blanked physical set pieces etc is there an optimal training regime works on xbox
God damn it, this is exactly what I’ve been doing for years, just by trial and error and observations throughout the years, thought there were a better way 😩😩😩
Modern day manager have a group of staff that follow them to each job the get. if you look at the docu "All or Nothing" you can see pep and Jose Have a core staff to goes every where they goes. So FM need to add it in the game when you create your manager. Thanks too editor in game I always my 5 core coaches with me to every team i got to
When you go to a new club you have the option to bring over staff that are interested in joining you at the new club. I literally don’t understand your statement as this already exists in game.
I was wondering about the Sports Scientist: does a good sports scientist slow down the physical decline of older players? It would make sense and would be very interesting because older players that are still good can often be signed as out of contract players. In general I find the physical decline of players that are reasonably old- say 33- exagerrated in FM, there are many older players in real life who show they can stay at high level (I was watching Albiol today against Liverpool, he was let go by Napoli years ago because he was getting old and he is now in the Champions League semi finals) but in FM this seems impossible. Does a good sports scientist make this more realistic in FM?
It's not sports scientists job to make steady physical attributes for older players. It's fitness coach and older player's playing time. SS job is to make sure that your player have no issue with injury and suggest training workload. Having a good SS will give you an accurate info about player healthy/clear from injury.
I see this test as pretty "flat" and general. Evidence Based Football Manager did a test that showed that coaches attributes were important if your players are low in professionalism, ambition and determination but didn't matter if the players had high numbers in these areas. It would be nice if your training team could try and replicate this test. Also he found out that morale in itself didn't effect a players development in training.
additionally in tests we got evidence that teams who got better results developed more. and who got more important matchs in continental cups got more developed.
@@boomdibam9823 I have no idea what you are even trying to say. And I would love to see some evidence for players with low CA/high PA playing better than players with high CA/low PA.
@@boomdibam9823 you've literally just described real life. If a good player doesn't fit a system, he will be outperformed by a lesser player who does. Look at Man Utd. Their squad, on paper, is much better than Arsenal's. However, the majority of Arsenal's squad fit quite nicely into the way Mikel Arteta is looking for them to play. Utd, on the other hand, have a mish-mash of players with plenty of ability, but who don't suit the style they're playing, so they underperform. For instance, for England, Harry Maguire is a dependable defender. For Man Utd, he's the opposite. Why? Does he intentionally play badly for his club, or is it more likely because they don't play to his strengths and that their style of play actually exposes his weaknesses? The same question could be posed about Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and many others... Equally, I could've chosen Pepe's struggles to break into the Arsenal team - a £70m signing and one of the most coveted players in the world at the time only a handful of years ago - or how Arsenal are considerably weaker when Cedric Soares plays at right back. Utd are set to change their style of play in the summer and have already stated that there will be a number of personnel changes. Why? Because much of the squad don't fit the style of play that they will be looking to implement. It doesn't make them bad players - they wouldn't be at Utd if they were - it just means that their strengths are not suited to the style of football the manager is looking to implement. As the old saying goes, you can't fit a square peg into a round hole.
@@boomdibam9823 I don't think you've understood the point I was making, which could well be, as you say, because there is a small language issue. My point is not about pa at all. My point is that a less talented player whose role in the team suits their natural style of play will perform better in that role than a more talented player who is better suited to a different role or system. For instance, N'golo Kante. When played in the holding midfield role for Leicester and Chelsea, he was a beast. Literally one of the most feared holding midfielders in the world. Under Sarri, he was forced to play in a different way that didn't suit him at all and it was clear for all to see. Chelsea would've been better suited playing a potentially less talented player in that role than playing Kante there and they would have been more effective.
I tried out the training schedules but it completely killed my team. I have the fittest team in LaLiga on course for a 3rd title in 3 years. The preseason was good but the rest left my players exhausted and picking up injuries.
Injury susceptibility is how prone a player is to becoming injured. For example, if they've had a lot of injuries before, especially recurring ones, then they're more likely to become injured again. Injury risk is just the general risk of injury through how intense the schedule is. Like if you have a lot of matches close together and intense training sessions, then players are more likely to suffer injuries due to the physical intensity of the training and matches.
Injury risk is transitory; it depends on whether the player has match sharpness, whether he's tired, as well as injury susceptibility. Injury susceptibility is permanent stat that modifies injury risk.
Yay I'm like one of the only people on YT to get a reply from Z over the last month. I wish I was in the UCL semis but alas. Training schedule is pretty good over a 6 month sample size (training ratings up on average and seems more players are increasing in general) but just need more time. Thanks to you and the guys for all the relevant testing etc. Appreciate there are a lot of variables to test.
What's the thinking at praising at 7.75? In my experience, you'll get a positive response from praising a player >= 7.5. Is there more too it than just their reaction?
For coaches, how important are the hard attributes like defense vs the soft attributes like motivation? Is 10,15 as good of a coach as 15,10, for example. Edit to say that all other relevant numbers are 10's for the sake of simplicity.
Is there a hard limit on coaches allowed? I’m Celtic, haven’t spent a pound in 4 years, have £130m in the bank but they won’t let me past 8 coaches no matter how many times I ask
Not sure if this is true or not but I've heard before that if you are already above your allowed number (if the board say you can have 6 and you already have 8) then the board won't allow you to add more. You have to be below to get a higher allowance. Not sure if that's what's happened in your case or not
Put in the stats you want on the screen then hit "ctrl+p" a window will appear asking how you want to save it then you save as a webpage. Once that's done you can open the file on excel and make it look nicer
I just don't have the time, if I get a 16 year old with a ca of 90 and pa of 160 then ill keep him around and give games if I've won the league or loan him out at 17 , if he gets to a decent ca at 20 then he gets more time on the team However there is no way I'm messing about taking a 16 year old ca of 90 pa of 130 , unless I'm in the lower divisions, I dont even bother signing them at a top club , if a player has the code to be good he will be good , you might get an extra 10 ca out of him , but to take ages finding the right staff, I haven't got the time tbh. FM is and has always been Tactic Keep upgrading players every year Loan out kids Try and get staff thar can do 3.5 stars and higher in their section of training. Find the tactic that works against top teams away. Too busy to sort tactics , download them , nothing in the game is cheating , it's all down to time to play the game , if you only have 1 hour a day, the last thing you want is to faff about with a broken game, and i only play 1 game every couple of nights , the highlights lie , will and always have done, a player looking dangerous in the highlights looks like he is playing well , ends the game with a 6.8 , the actual info and stats differ widely to what you see , unless you play every minute of every game , even the 3d is a poor representation of the text , which is why reading the text commentary is a better idea of what happened
I'm applying Z's training schedule in my FM21 save and It's working well. Players are progressing well. I do understand though that I'm having quite a lot of injuries because I wasn't able to manage the pre-season training (joined team after pre-season)
I have been using the training schedule for 1.5 seasons now and I can't say that I see much of a difference. Quite frankly, the results may be even worse than other training schedules out there. At least now I know that the sports scientiest does something.
Coaching staff and facilities always made a difference, trainning the player in a role that he plays always made a difference, i didn't even know this was a question.
When did downloading logo/face packs become so difficult its not even worth it anymore? Can't just download anymore you always have to sign up to some bullshit first.
It's a shame that it's so boring and time-consuming to fanny around going through all the players to praise/blame good/bad training performances every week ... surely you should just be able to tell your assistant to do it automatically ...
Is it true that Acceleration, Pace and Drbbling are the most important stats across all positions and the ones that impact player performance the most? ZaZ linked a study done on FM that pretty much proves you should only predominantly do Quickness in team and individual training
It’s a bit of a bold statement to say they don’t trust you to edit the sheet See that’s funny because he was trying to make something bold?!! Joke book coming soon
Guys I need help , in my save the president don’t want to increase the number of sport scientist , I am in ligue 1 playing champions league since 3 years , we have plenty of money , very good infrastructure , 17 fcking coaches but only 1 sport scientist and when I ask for more they said we have enough , I am pretty sure it’s not normal , do you have some solutions for me ?
@@SimersFM i only have 1 in the first team and no everything is good , not over the limit for any roles , and when I asked them they tell me that we have enough sport scientist , I have the best staff in all other domain but we are like 6th for sport scientist I tried like 6-7 times to add one more

Just in time for my next season.
I tried out the training schedules but it completely killed my team. I have the fittest team in LaLiga on course for a 3rd title in 3 years. The preseason was good but the rest left my players exhausted and picking up injuries.
zealand do a video on maintaining wage structure pls; I've got 4 start players anr 15 regular starters banging my door to start games and earn more
Where can i download the training schedule u use?
What's the difference between injury suspecability and injury risk?
Injury susceptibility is how prone a player is to becoming injured. For example, if they've had a lot of injuries before, especially recurring ones, then they're more likely to become injured again.
Injury risk is just the general risk of injury through how intense the schedule is. Like if you have a lot of matches close together and intense training sessions, then players are more likely to suffer injuries due to the physical intensity of the training and matches.
Injury risk is transitory; it depends on whether the player has match sharpness, whether he's tired, as well as injury susceptibility. Injury susceptibility is permanent stat that modifies injury risk.
Where does one find Zealands training schedule?
I noticed the difference when implementing Zs training schedules.... 3 injuries before the UCL semi final. TY
Holy smokes that’s unfortunate, is there a PO Box that I can mail a personal apology letter to, I’ve just read this on my way to bed and I feel awful
Wheres that praise/criticize training buttons in fm21?
What's the thinking at praising at 7.75? In my experience, you'll get a positive response from praising a player >= 7.5. Is there more too it than just their reaction?
There's a certain cutoff point where the player will never be annoyed at you praising them, I guess Zealand believes this to be 7.75.
Si pudieras algún si traducir con subtítulos en español esta serie de videos sobre los entrenamientos sería de gran ayuda
For coaches, how important are the hard attributes like defense vs the soft attributes like motivation? Is 10,15 as good of a coach as 15,10, for example. Edit to say that all other relevant numbers are 10's for the sake of simplicity.
where can i download your training schedule?
The spreadsheets 🥰
I'm a simple guy, I see "Cool Numbers" in the thumbnail, and I click.
Would be interesting to see avarage CA changes per age.
Is there a hard limit on coaches allowed? I’m Celtic, haven’t spent a pound in 4 years, have £130m in the bank but they won’t let me past 8 coaches no matter how many times I ask
I'M WITH EVERTON HAS 16 COACHES, 28 SCOUTS, THERE'S NO LIMIT? MUST BE SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH YOUR BOARD
U need to do better in continental competions, only way to get to 20+ coaches and scluts
Not sure if this is true or not but I've heard before that if you are already above your allowed number (if the board say you can have 6 and you already have 8) then the board won't allow you to add more. You have to be below to get a higher allowance. Not sure if that's what's happened in your case or not
@@dannyl8994 that is true and likely what is occurring
I’m Motherwell and I have 16 coaches, 6 years in.
How many times did you run each test?
Love you Zealand
how do you transfer data from the game to spreadsheet?
Put in the stats you want on the screen then hit "ctrl+p" a window will appear asking how you want to save it then you save as a webpage. Once that's done you can open the file on excel and make it look nicer
I just don't have the time, if I get a 16 year old with a ca of 90 and pa of 160 then ill keep him around and give games if I've won the league or loan him out at 17 , if he gets to a decent ca at 20 then he gets more time on the team
However there is no way I'm messing about taking a 16 year old ca of 90 pa of 130 , unless I'm in the lower divisions, I dont even bother signing them at a top club , if a player has the code to be good he will be good , you might get an extra 10 ca out of him , but to take ages finding the right staff, I haven't got the time tbh.
FM is and has always been
Tactic
Keep upgrading players every year
Loan out kids
Try and get staff thar can do 3.5 stars and higher in their section of training.
Find the tactic that works against top teams away.
Too busy to sort tactics , download them , nothing in the game is cheating , it's all down to time to play the game , if you only have 1 hour a day, the last thing you want is to faff about with a broken game, and i only play 1 game every couple of nights , the highlights lie , will and always have done, a player looking dangerous in the highlights looks like he is playing well , ends the game with a 6.8 , the actual info and stats differ widely to what you see , unless you play every minute of every game , even the 3d is a poor representation of the text , which is why reading the text commentary is a better idea of what happened
where is Zealand training schedule?
Just letting you know, this new title is a lot better lmao
This can be applied to FM21?
Yes you can
Need more training about youth and fully his potential
Someone has the file to dl? I have the game on xbox pass
does anyone know if training is a lot different in FM 21 to FM 22
I'm applying Z's training schedule in my FM21 save and It's working well. Players are progressing well. I do understand though that I'm having quite a lot of injuries because I wasn't able to manage the pre-season training (joined team after pre-season)
It's funny how, now that I'm using all of the training information from the recent videos, it feels like I'm using cheat codes in the game
What I'm hearing is, the more you play and use the features of the game, the more rewarded you will be... on average
I have been using the training schedule for 1.5 seasons now and I can't say that I see much of a difference. Quite frankly, the results may be even worse than other training schedules out there.
At least now I know that the sports scientiest does something.
Could you tell which other training schedules have you been using?
@@Genrico I am using BustTheNets Boot Camp during Preaseason and FM Scouts weeks during the regular season.
yo can you link this spreadsheet?
He won't unless you pay I don't think
Nigga just screenshot
I have a hard time believing anyone thought coaches didn't matter. There's a reason staff calculators have existed since it was still called CM.
How much does the personality and reputation of your staff matter?
I find it pretty funny how Z says alaves
Great. Now convince my board Sports Scientists matter.
Now drip the download training alrdy⚡️
Coaching staff and facilities always made a difference, trainning the player in a role that he plays always made a difference, i didn't even know this was a question.
When did downloading logo/face packs become so difficult its not even worth it anymore? Can't just download anymore you always have to sign up to some bullshit first.
It's a shame that it's so boring and time-consuming to fanny around going through all the players to praise/blame good/bad training performances every week ... surely you should just be able to tell your assistant to do it automatically ...
Zeland videos are always best when he wears a Juve jersey
Is it true that Acceleration, Pace and Drbbling are the most important stats across all positions and the ones that impact player performance the most? ZaZ linked a study done on FM that pretty much proves you should only predominantly do Quickness in team and individual training
When Zealand tested it, he also found jumping reach and strength to be important, in addition to speed and dribbling.
I would probably say goals and assists are more important stats. Acceleration and pace are attributes my man.
I’m training ur training schedules and I had a lot of injuries :’(
It’s a bit of a bold statement to say they don’t trust you to edit the sheet
See that’s funny because he was trying to make something bold?!! Joke book coming soon
One for the algorythm
Guys I need help , in my save the president don’t want to increase the number of sport scientist , I am in ligue 1 playing champions league since 3 years , we have plenty of money , very good infrastructure , 17 fcking coaches but only 1 sport scientist and when I ask for more they said we have enough , I am pretty sure it’s not normal , do you have some solutions for me ?
How many sport scientists do you have and how many are allowed? Are you over your allotment for any medical staff?
@@SimersFM i only have 1 in the first team and no everything is good , not over the limit for any roles , and when I asked them they tell me that we have enough sport scientist , I have the best staff in all other domain but we are like 6th for sport scientist I tried like 6-7 times to add one more
Best trainning tips:
1) Play with Man. City
2) Buy the better players
Fine, I'll subscribe.
