It highlights their country, the people and the war. Whenever i have conversations with young and adult citizens, they dont know anything about Miss Saigon.
theater is not a popular recreational activity/thing in Viet Nam. Most people find tranquil coffee shops a better place to refresh their mind. Live music is also popular.

Excellent video, such a shame I can’t get a long term tourist or retirement visa. I was hoping to spend only 6 months a year there (3 x 2 months) like I was doing in Thailand for the last 3 years.
Hi, Yes Long term visas or retirement visa is always the tricky part in settling in Vietnam. As I mentioned in the video there are solutions but it is not as simple as other countries in the region. Mostly we (expats / investors) usually choose : open a business, find a job, invest in a Vietnamese company. Cheers
Guillaume Rondan - Move To Asia I don’t mind the extra paperwork, it’s the cost. The whole point of being there’s to relax and enjoy life cheaply. If jumping through the hoops is too complicated people just won’t bother? It’s a shame because when you consider what Thailand has done recently, Vietnam has missed a great opportunity to attract wealthy foreigners?
@Thai Select, I believe that it’s 30-day standard visa stamp if you use a visa on arrival service. I read the consulate info and they even have 12 month visa with multiple entry. The website is not detailed. But I think you can get a visa to match your return ticket. vietnamembassy-usa.org/page/apply-email-and-receive-loose-leaf-visa-mail I normally buy my tickets from a Vietnamese American travel agency in Little Saigon and they care of the visa for me. 3 months at a time is not be a problem at all. They can even take care of the getting a longer term business visa for you. If you live in a major city with a big Vietnamese-American population, check with a travel agency.
I am a business owner so I have my own setup with a long term temporary residency card. I talk about this in this video : ua-cam.com/video/dEl0H4DZipk/v-deo.html

Can’t find the answer from the Net and so as soon Vietnam open its doors to foreign tourists, I’ll fly into Vietnam and find immigration lawyer to help better understand my options.
@@professionalbum7070 Just owning a condo will not get you a long term right to live in the country. There are currently tourist and work visas. I don't even know what the longest tourist visa is, it was 1 year max for certain countries, who know after borders reopen. What you want is a Temporary Residence Card which makes you visa exempt for 3 years, and is renewable. Google it. Easiest ways to qualify are marry a Viet or through an employer. Watch out for scams where visa agents make you a fake employee of a fake company, you can be deported. I used to want to buy a condo: no more. The market is flooded, appreciation is poor, you may never get final ownership papers, there is no Western-style rule of law, no courts or judges that represent consumer rights, etc. Keep your $150,000 in a Western brokerage in 7-10% dividend stocks, and rent. Then you can move to cleaner less congested cities (or countries) when Saigon burns you out. For example I just visited Ha Long, fabulous, like night and day compared to Saigon - a bit cold in winter tho.
I'm hoping to come to Vietnam to teach English. I've been given conflicting advice. Some say to secure a job before arriving, some say to arrive and then approach schools in person. Can any Expats with similar experience offer their opinion? Thanks.

Marriage is not just a word, but a fuck’n life sentence! In Thailand, you’re no longer need to marry a Thai woman to buy property; the same is true in Vietnam. But, visa may be an issue...I’m still researching on this subject. As American, I can buy condo in Vietnam, but visa may be tricky.

France has brought to Vietnam so many products from distant lands even from native France that help the Vietnamese economy today. To name some like rubber, coffee, dragonfruit, avocados, some livestocks etc... they are not originally from Asia. So in all French colonialism is not a terrible thing for Vietnam, but au contraire it opens up knowledge to Vietnamese and they won't forget that.
Sure, but also don't forget the monstrosities the French committed here. I would recommend visiting the Hoa Lo prison relic in Ha Noi to see and touch French means of subduing the Vietnamese people at the time, and learn more about French policies to its colonies. Hope you have a good time in VN if you decide to visit.
@@Krasnoye158 The French colonists knew since day one that the Vietnamese are not like any people of countries being colonized. They don't want to be commanded, that's why they devised a special education system of which only the Vietnamese who collaborate with them are allowed decent education, others will remain "ignorant". The Vietnamese who resist the colonists are persecuted like criminals. Think about if all Vietnamese are educated Vietnam would be very hard to control.
@@Krasnoye158 If you compare 100 yrs of French domination to thousands of yrs coexistence with China, believe me the French are more like Angel saviors to Vietnam. Look at what the Chinese have done to Vietnam all these time. They stole technologies from the Viet from bronze casting, silk making, paper making, yes the "crossbow", that led to the so-called "1000 yrs of Chinese control". And lots more. They stole Vietnamese intellectual properties to enrich their "civilization", Without Vietnam, China is a nothing but a big country with a huge population. Do you know why Vietnam has lost the Paracels island to China in 1974? it's the work done by the ethnic Chinese in then S. Vietnam before the collapse of Saigon in 1075. And the French, Vietnam is among the top exporter of coffee thanks to whom? and rubber? dragonfruits? avocados? and more. The French have brought these plants from far away to Vietnam, and their superb education. So Vietnam is recognizing these contributions from the French colonists, more appreciation than despite I may say.

Japan will open to tourists in October! I think I can bounce to VN via Japan. Just curious to ask this, why Vietnamese people don’t know or are not familiar with the theater play Miss Saigon? It’s a popular and world class stage play. It highlights their country, the people and the war. Whenever i have conversations with young and adult citizens, they dont know anything about Miss Saigon.
Miss Saigon ? Is it a place or what ?
theater is not a popular recreational activity/thing in Viet Nam. Most people find tranquil coffee shops a better place to refresh their mind. Live music is also popular.

Guillaume Rondan - Move To Asia politically I dont have a freedom of speech and religiously I could not practice my religion. Have you ever known the familly books? it restricts my movement. Economically I could not own my land. Historically I would say we Vietnamese lost every wars in the 20th century but everyone would pound me like potato sag so freedom of expression dead. Everyone stressful so driving motobike crazily and honking loudly a mean of stress relief. The people in the North stealing like no tommorow, even in the past the Highway No1 financed by the French colonialists but built not by the Vietnamese labourers who too much lazy but the Arabs. Almost enlightened and brillant Vietnamese minds run away from Vietnam like a plague. You must deal with the rest who thugs, psychopaths and commie bureaucrats. I love classic music but most of musicians trained by Russians so when I went to the Hanoi Oprea House the state ochestra loved to play Dimitri Shostakovich' symphonies at the end of every show, I vommited because this guy praised Stalin like god and I must get out. In short if you dont care anything mentioned above this a great country. Actually I stop planing to move out of Vietnam when watching youtube channels like yours. I knew the situations in the west and most of my friends have settled in North America, my kids also study in Canada. The west declines economically and the east prosperous but sort of quasi democracy or even authoritanianism. Hi, I liked your video a lot. How do you see the Idea of openning a super market? It will allow me to live there?
Super market to sell what ? Having a small store may be an idea but be aware that's is super competitive, so the question is : what can I sell that others are not already selling (usually already for a cheap & competitive price)

Merci d’avance. Cảm ơn.
@Thai Select , US citizens can stay in Vietnam for 90 days x 2 = 6 months.
@@richiesd1 Is that on a tourist visa? 6 months is what i'm looking for
@Thai Select, I believe that it’s 30-day standard visa stamp if you use a visa on arrival service.
I read the consulate info and they even have 12 month visa with multiple entry. The website is not detailed. But I think you can get a visa to match your return ticket.
vietnamembassy-usa.org/page/apply-email-and-receive-loose-leaf-visa-mail
I normally buy my tickets from a Vietnamese American travel agency in Little Saigon and they care of the visa for me. 3 months at a time is not be a problem at all. They can even take care of the getting a longer term business visa for you. If you live in a major city with a big Vietnamese-American population, check with a travel agency.
Interesting content. How have you managed to stay in Vietnam for two years as far as visas are concerned? Regular “border runs?”

Hi Gary, yes I will try to gather an expert on a video to really digest all the rules and way to invest in Vietnam through real estate 😉
I’m retired American and be interested buying a VinHome condo in Saigon. I wonder if Vietnam allow long term visa for foreigner owning property in Vietnam?
Thanks.
Hi Mia, do you have a teaching diploma ? Better to get a TEFL or equivalent for a long term solution. More information on our page dedicated to teaching job in Vietnam : movetoasia.com/en/vietnam/teaching-english/
I'm not a teacher but I follow Facebook groups which are your best resource. There are a bunch of groups, search "English teacher Vietnam", and "expat Vietnam" to get started. Jobs are posted on FB all the time. Also teachers post their job wanted profile in these groups. You will need to be here for interview unless you have some impressive skillset for universities.
I plan to go there and get married I've already purchased the house there. Then I find out it's very difficult to get your money back out of the country should you ever want to leave.
If you keep all the proof and papers, pay the taxes as you should too (buying, taxes on personal income) then it should be all right !

How do you become part of expat community
Going to event / networking / gathering. Pretty easy to meet up with expats and locals.
Interesting! Pros and cons of colonialism ...
@@msoviet409 correct, but many people who grew up with French education later became members of the revolutionary.
Salut Guillaume , we are overcrowded already… don’t need you to motivate people to come please..l
