    Sometimes, it's hard to make a Telecaster sound good or better than other guitars. That's because a Telecaster is admittedly a very flexible guitar (I would even claim you can use a Telecaster for every guitar sound!), however it is sometimes hard to make it not sound too brittle but smooth and balanced. Here are some tricks to make ANY Telecaster sound great- it literally works every time.

    Finally!!!! I talk about the lack of mids in the Tele for ever but everyone suggests to scoop them instead and boost the high!!! I guess not every Tele has the same response, but I feel my Tele is very much similar to yours, thank you so much, love your channel!

  • @bchant19

    I use the tone knob on my tele a lot I usually run it 3/4 of the way up so it just takes off that bitey treble and ads some more bark. I also have my neck pickup disconnected from the tone knob so switching between it doesn't get muddy and dark. I love the tones you got dial in the video definitely shows that teles rock.

    You put me onto the Moonshine V2 and now my tele is sounding better than ever. That pedal is an absolute blast to play with, so I am for sure gonna keep taking your tone advice my man

    • @bastienlinard7530
      @bastienlinard7530 2 місяці тому

      really for you as well as Joey ? you recommend the moonshine ? Because of the clean blending as well as it's bump-mid/tubescreamer effect ?

    Set your pickup height and balance. Start with your tone knob in the middle, adjust your attack and where you are picking the strings and you're good. You don't need pedals or gain to make a tele sound good. Teles do sound good, great actually. The more pedals you add, the more generic your tone gets.

    • @amiseso
      @amiseso 2 місяці тому +2

      He's trying to show how to make a tele sound generic in the mix I think, with all that 'even frequency' or 'cutting off highs'. So less pedals for special twangy tone, add pedals for generic tone, I think. Now one tele can really rule them all situations.

      I added an extra knob to my tele. Say for instance if I'm playing a fast distorted heavy metal song say a slow clean country song.
      All I haft is do is turn the knob and it lower and raises the pickups.
      Yep that's what I did just turn that knob.

    Joey, your soloing is so riveting. Note selection is amazing! What are your favorite scales or modes to play in? I know you enjoy lower tunings as in C sharp, but you hit notes that are so interesting. Im thinking specifically of your solos of 2024 and maybe even a short you did a while back... when blues meets grunge or something along those lines..... Thanks!

    Great tip about compression, I haven't think about compression that way! By the way, saying about what amp you use (especially in modelers scenario) it's worth to say about cab used (and mic!). I think cab impact on the tone is underevalued by most of guitarists ;)

    How do you do that ? Is it a special pot ?
    It messes with my mind, and you being a lefty adds a layer to that 🙂

    • @joeyjooones
      @joeyjooones  Місяць тому +1

      Welcome on board! The knob is reversed, because that’s what guitar builders do to left handed guitars - they use right handed pots, so we have to use them in reverse. Not fair, but that’s the world we live in.

    Love your playing and tone on this video as well, but yeah, you should probably add “How to make ANY Telecaster sound great…..use a modeler!” As the title, all modelers make all guitars sound great, its why a lot of guys love them, all this goes out the window with a “real tube amp” unless you know what you’re doing!! 🙄

    Why dont using a Equalizer to rise the mids if you want to do this in Lead sounds ? A compressor normaly doesnt do this if its a good compressor. A compressor deals with attack time and level and not with the frequency range...
