      Beautiful job, well done. Wondering about compacting and using paver sand over stone base. Not questioning your method , just looking for your take on it.

      @TheChristianHardscaper  Рік тому +2

      @@michaelszczoczarz5776 Thank you! So if you use Open Grade base like I have here, You can't use sand for bedding material because it will migrate into the clean stone base, causing the pavers to sink... That's why I use the 3/8" clean crushed stone for bedding material, that does not migrate into the base stone.
      Here is a video I made which explains the base prep method I use in a lot more detail 👉ua-cam.com/video/ChaJe3JqD6I/v-deo.html

    Best paver video I’ve ever seen! Watched this video 7 times focusing on different areas and it makes sense now how things are done. Your dictation of every part of the job is excellent to get an understanding, such as why you use certain materials. Like the way you chisel off the caps on the steps to give a rough look. I have to do a small 9x8 paver patio so this helps tremendously.

    Good video. I'm planning on laying some paving round a swimming pool. Usually I've seen people lay down plastic sheeting to prevent weeds from shooting through, then a layer of sand, then the bricks. First time I've seen the bricks laid on gravel .. but it would make a lot of sense round a swimming pool wrt water spillage etc.

    Looks awesome and I like what you did with the downspout issue. Good and simple solution. Peace, brother.

      Thank you, I always try to keep things as simple as possible. The water will have plenty of drainage stone to permeate into the ground with no maintenance of a buried pipe. ✌

      @@TheChristianHardscaper I really questioned that approach. I would thought it would have been so easy to run it under and onto the yard. Just seems like a lost opportunity to keep water away from the foundation. You were right there. However great job and I still learned new techniques.

    Now on that down spout into that gravel, how does that work out in heavy rain, the install is wonderful, love it man good job.

      Thank you, so the downspout always drained there previously and was never an issue. Just like any downspout, it drains by permeating into the soil directly under it. So now with having put 2 cubic yards of 3/4" clean crushed stone under it and under the pavers / steps, it will drain / permeate even better into the sub soil. There won't ever be drainage issues in that corner. ✌

    a different way to laying slabs from us in the UK...we use a waker plate and not the tamper..the sub base is with a hardcore waker all down then building sand again waker all down then screed and put blocks on it..after that dry keel sand and waker over again...job done

      I use plate compactor on most projects, this was small enough for the tamper. But I stopped using gravel and sand over 4 years ago. I use only clean, crushed stone now (Open Grade Base). I have quite a few videos on my channel explaining it. But it has proven to be far superior to sand✌
