Just a comment to say thanks again brother. I watched your videos to help me do my patio and now I keep coming back to see what you’re up to. I’d check out the live stream. You guys are good people. Wish you the best!
I do hardscaping myself in the Lowell area. I must say u guys do really great work alot of people don't understand how much of a physical job this is bent over laying 40 lb slabs of concrete pinching ya fingers. But again much respect to u and Benny vloggins well done gents keep em coming kid
That's awesome man, must be a different animal working out in that area.... Thanks for the feedback and you are 100% correct that most people do not understand how physical this work really is. Me and Benny Vloggins got plenty more to come! 😂 ✌
Love the brown pavers, and the black border really makes the whole patio pop!!!! Can't wait to see the sitting wall finished to bring it all together... Also like the rounded curve with the asymmetrical back wall... Great Job, as usual!!!!!!
It is a great thing to learn, I worked on the lawn care side of the business for many years before shifting to the construction side of it. I am so glad I did. ✌
You’re Master Craftsmen - I’ve learned much from watching your videos. Your work is amazing!! I’m a professional sculptor and I’m very picky. You guys, and your work, rock!!!
I have a ranch on 2 acres. To be honest my yard has been so ghetto. Inside of my house is nice but outside - ouch. This year new siding, new windows (doing them myself.) Since I saw you do the veneer stone on the side of the yellow house I'm down with doing some accent sections on my house. I'm seeing a new sitting area with a zen garden in the middle. Sweet!
LOL, I hear you... My house is in the same condition, needs some work outside for sure. Can't wait to dig into this year! Your plan sounds mint, good luck with it! ✌
Excellent boss, the work was beautiful, thank you for the advice you shared. I appreciate it. I'm starting to do Landscaping, but I want to start doing those patio jobs. Thank you once again.
Beautiful work, Kyle. So happy for you to finally have a machine of your own. Knew it would be Kubota 👍🏻 Gonna use that baby to push snow this winter?? Keep up the good work, brother! ✌️John
Hi, love your channel. Feel like after watching lots of your videos I'm ready to attempt my first patio. Thank you. Wondering with this particular 3 stone pattern - what are the sizes of each one?
Thank you very much, glad the videos have been helpful to you! Here is a link to the exact pavers I used and you can see the specs on them if you scroll through a bit www.techo-bloc.com/shop/slabs/blu-60-mm-slab-slate-champlain-grey?parent=b4cd2334-6df8-4e28-a19d-ec4fbb3a3f31 Good Luck!
Thank you. There is no way I could live without now.... It has been so helpful and brings way more profit than renting. And he certainly does! 😂😂 I can picture him in a uniform all day! ✌
Have you ever used the roller vibrating compactors during polymeric sand installation? Do you think they're worth the money or would you just stick with the hand tamper and gator mat?
I have used one before. They are very cool but also very expensive.... It is an investment I would make when I am at a point that I have disposable income... LOL Here is a link to a video I made where we used one of those compactors 👉ua-cam.com/video/mmQIHU2b3qg/v-deo.html
Me too, very nice look. Pavers will fade over time... But some manufactures last longer than others. Techo Bloc is well know for their excellent color tones and they seem to hold the colors much longer than most cheaper pavers.
After laying pavers do you compact after or before the polymeric sand? Also can I use a rubber hand tamper vs machine? I'm worried a machine rental will damage pavers
We compact them after the first sweep through of polymeric sand and then sweep one more layer of polymeric sand after. You certainly can hand tamp instead of a machine
Nice work man! The double border adds a nice detailed look. I'm going to extend a back concrete patio with some pavers. When I butt up to my patio, should I add a little extra base to prevent sinkage or a difference in my level from paver to concrete? I'm using a 3-piece design like you do. Hope it comes out as beautiful as yours do! Also, is it hard to avoid the 4 way seams like you always mention with a 3 piece design? God Bless you and your guys! Also, love that new Kubota loader you got!
Thank you very much, I love that border! And yes, when meeting with an existing patio you want to set the pavers about 1/4" higher and hammer down level with the existing patio to prevent settling in the future. 4 ways can be tough to avoid but worth the effort in my opinion. They just kind of stick out to me... I am loving that machine, God bless you too and thanks for the support! ✌
Thanks for getting back to me brother. I have a new found respect for you guys and how physical this work is now that I'm doing some pavers work myself in my backyard!! Keep up the great work and be sure to take care of your back so you can keep rockin the hardscapes for years to come! God Bless. Todd @@TheChristianHardscaper
@@toddj893 No problem at all. It is definitely tough work but when you complete a project, it makes it all worth it and then gives you the energy for the next one. Very fun and rewarding work, can't imagine doing anything else.. LOL✌
Gotta love the looks of that pattern! And Techo's colors blend really well together. Three questions; you showed levelling and screeding the final base but you did not dive much into how you came up with what height you were at. Did you use a laser to make sure the patio was the correct depth lower than the steps or just eyeballed it? And question two is have you ever considered using a vacuum system for handling the pavers? For the final laying from the stacks to the ground, I've found that the t-handle vacuum is a HUGE backsaver and really increases how fast I can lay patterns like this job. And questions three is what edging do you use? With the frost heaves in the northeast, I know that concrete or plastic edging doesn't hold up more than a few years. I've been having success with the aluminum edging from Pave Tool. Is that what you're using? I'm a new subscriber that just found your channel so I apologize if you showed these methods in other vids.
Thank you, I love the color tones from Techo and this Chestnut Brown color matched the house excellently. I don't use lasers very often, I find all my grades and slopes with string lines / string line levels and by using my screed pipes. I don't find a need for using a laser on the majority of projects. And I don't like the vacuums either, maybe for larger slabs but even the large paver in the Blu 60 mix is not too heavy. It is quicker to stack them up and slap them down by hand. I like the vacuum for lifting pavers up after they were laid, that's for sure. I use concrete for edge restraint, it may have some downfalls to it but I have not had to repair any concrete edging I have done for years. I may have to at some point but even when I do, it is an easy repair to break off the failed section and install new concrete. That is not so easy with plastic or aluminum edging. But hey, many ways to skin a buck they say.. LOL Thanks for the feedback! ✌
Thank you. It is not permeable, we sealed it with polymeric sand. Even though we use a permeable base, we still use Polymeric sand to prevent water from going into it as much as possible.
Love your work and this videos you are putting together. Using your advice and techniques. Q? Where did you buy your 8 foot level from? I want to get one too. Thank you again for all this videos and the guidelines how to excavate and install. Stay blessed!
I appreciate the feedback! I got that level from a local masonry supply store, it is made by (Keson). Here is the link to the one I have www.keson.com/products/keson-screeding-levels/. I bought the 98" model ✌
Thank you, and yes I would. You may have to lift some up or knock some down to make them nice and even with the irregular thicknesses of the bricks. But this is the best method for clay bricks or pavers 👌
Make sure you take your key out of your new machine. When you leave the job site for the day. We just had a 10 year old boy. Fellow hardscaper. Enjoy the vids. I mean this as constructive criticism. But people slowly resent in silence. I wouldn't correct the bars Benny set, you gotta build the confidence. Also, if your screed isn't perfectly parallel to the foundation when on top of the bars during set up, it technically will give you an inaccurate reading. I do the exact same set up as you, however i run a digital level on top of my 8 ft screed, 0 it out parallel to the foundation. So when I'm setting up the bars i know they're bang on in. Thanks for the vids
Hey man, I know what you mean, but those first few rails are the most important. Especially for this patio because that is where the majority of the surface water is directed to. Benny does a great job and I typically just double check the rails and leave them because they are fine. But even 10 years from now I would be double checking the work. That is exactly what the one running the project needs to do so you don't have bigger issues down the road. He had the rails very close but I just wanted a bit more slope to insure water run off. But I totally hear where you are coming from, thanks for the feedback brother! ✌
I have yet to invest in those metal pipes. Ive been playing it cheap and using wooden 1x2s. I cant see how people could leave you negative comments. Shid you made me tons of money..lol

The top layer does not get tamped, we screed it loosely and lay the pavers. Then we tamp / compact the pavers into the bedding stone. Even if you compacted it before you screed, it would not help because when you go to screed it it will loosen up again... ✌
