Great video!! Very fun to watch. Jeez, all these hall of famers across three different eras (the Earl Anthony era, the Walter Ray Williams Jr era, and the second Walter Ray Williams Jr era.)! For someone my age, it was a great experience: nostalgia, and yet a great appreciation for the upcoming bowlers.
My favorite moment of the video: at 33:40 Ryan Barnes gets an extremely important strike after missing the previous two frames, giving him and his dad a chance to catch up to Hess and Lavery-Spahr. Chris and Ryan have their game faces on, so no celebration, but Chris slaps Ryan's palm and then Ryan backhands his dad in the glute. So cool. I wish my dad was still around.
A lot of good bowlers in the ladder.Incredible they threw such a good game after the 250 game.Mr Hess team has been doing well this year good to see Walter and Deo come up big in the big game.
Walter Ray the most titles won by anyone amazing. I remember in the 80's Walter couldn't win anything then when reactive resin came out he was unstoppable.
Wins in the 80's 1986 True Value Open, Peoria, Ill. 1986 Fair Lanes Open, Baltimore, Md. 1986 Hammer Open, Edmond, Okla. 1987 Miller Lite Classic, Miami, Fla. 1987 Hammer Open, Edmond, Okla. Now he often bowls with a plastic Smily ball. In fact, he shot a 300 a few weeks ago with it. ua-cam.com/video/c1-8SDoOhm0/v-deo.htmlsi=xMRvPn5THNO5mgGq
JoeyCronan: Maybe you're thinking of urethane? They came out in the 80s. I remember the first time I saw an AMF Angle, I felt I could put my fingernail in it. I don't know if you lived through the 80s, but Walter Ray Williams was extremely dominant during that time. He was on TV constantly, like, once or twice a month, and he won 5 titles. I remember there was some time where he was a little snake bit when it came to winning tournaments when he was in the finals, and Chris and Nelson "Bo" remarked on it. I'm looking at his stats: from 1988-1990, he was in 7 finals and lost them all. But that was just a statistical blip: overall in the 80s, and overall in his career, he won about as many finals as you would expect.
@@lanceschaina3084 Yes sir you are correct. I'm 57 and yes I remember the great days of bowling in the 80's early 90's. I meant he could never win always had bad luck
I can't remember which house Mr. McCordic ran in Houston back in the early 90's but I won a youth event he put on. Standup guy. Also, the Ellis' that own Emerald bowled with my family for years. Such good people nice to see everyone bowling still!
wow.....congrats on another win, Deadeye!!! Wish i would have known about it.....i used to bowl at Emerald and live 15 minutes away. Used to bowl with Isreal Montemayor
Pete McCordic threw the first televised 300 that I ever saw. I remember being a young kid at the time and being on the edge of my seat the whole time. I remember he was visibly shaking in the 10th frame, as would just about anybody when a live crowd is watching you. He pushed through the nerves and finished it out though.
Thank you, it is nice that you enjoy bowling. If I owned a bowling center, which I don't, I would set up a frequent practice deal for those who would like to bowl a lot.
Great bowling. Back-to-back wins in this tournament! I hope Ryan doesn't kick himself too hard, he bowled great all week. This was a blast to watch, hopefully next year I can make a trip up to Houston to watch this live. Or possibly bowl in it if I can get my game just a pinch better. Congratulations 🎊.
I absolutely love the relationship ryan and chris barnes have, the full up high fives the support for one another and the fact that Chris Barnes could bowl with just about whomever he wants and yet chooses his son. And yes i know how good ryan is.. love it.. great job to all bowlers.
Walter Ray still amazes ne hiw he keeps winning time and time again. He is still one of the most decorative bowlers ever. I would live to see Walter Ray vs belmo that would be an epic main event anywhere in the world.
You are one the greatest ever and set records that will never be broken. My money is on you one on one against Jason anytime. Glad to see you still out there. 😊😊
"Decorated", meaning Walter Ray has won a lot of awards. "decorative" would mean that he likes to paint flowers on his balls, or sew butterflies on his shirt, lol
Just now watching this replay. Congrats on the win. I guess if you are the Goat you can overcome any lane transition. That was quite a display of "controlling your rock" on the lane of choice for the finals. I watched the practice shots before the final and was sure after 3 shots hooked early in the fronts/mids you were going to switch lanes with Deo or try another orb. Deo looked like he was getting a little carrydown during his finals practice created from his earlier allowed practice shots while you waited for the finals. I thought Deo would start on the right lane to avoid bis own practice carrydown and you would start on the left lane to avoid the early hook created by Ryan & Sean-Lavery. I would have lost that bet. Awesome display of loft and projection/launch angle to get the ball to go through the pins. But, what else would you expect from Walter Ray Williams Jr .... very nice!
I try to tell people, Deo is the most talented young bowler in the sport right now. The hype is on Ryan Barnes but I think even he would admit how freaking good Deo is. Kid has 7 titles already. He’s a beast
I never have, and never will understand any bowler who wipes their ball off and takes that same side of the towel directly to their shoe and wipes it. I'm going NOWHERE NEAR my slide shoe with an oil soaked rag. I dont buy the argument that the towel "only absorbs". If I saw that from an opponent, and began slipping and losing my footing, I would definitely make an issue out of it.
I don't wipe my ball off very often. I think it is ironic that bowlers wipe their ball off and complain about the lack of oil. Shot to shot I don't see much of a difference wiping my ball off. But I will do it sometimes on lots of oil and when I bowl 2 handed so my left hand doesn't slip.
@walterraywilliamsjr3964 I'll use it as a tool and take the oil off if I want lees length and leave it on if I want more. It doesn't make a massive difference, but maybe enough to get the shape just right.

Grats on the win... and excellent video quality. Thanks for the upload.

Is it just me, or does Chris Barnes throw the ball better as he gets older?
It's just you!
@@sawnose4775 😂. I swear he gets more revs than he used to anyway.
Both him and Hess seem to get better with age.
@XenoGuru Agreed. Tommy still out there throwing a high quality orb.
They both throw it very well compared to seniors. Compared to the touring players, well they are very good.

Most do it as part of their routine..... Marshall Holman was the worse I've seen for doing this and we all know how good he was

Yes he is.
right handed bowlers alway look to the right after they throw the ball...why is that...what do they see down there that will help
Most right handers throw the ball to the right, maybe they like to see where their ball is going
