  • Hash browns are one of my favorite breakfast sides to enjoy with my meal. However, normal potatoes are aren't really good for you BUT sweet potatoes are! Plus, they have so much more flavor. Sweet potatoes don't get super crispy normally but good new is, my sweet potato hash brown recipe does! Crispiness is a must when enjoying hash browns and so when I was creating this recipe, I tried many different methods. This one is definitely the best one. If you know of a better way to crisp up your sweet potato hash browns, let me know in the comments. Enjoy!

    If you’re trying to remove the water try rinsing into another bowl and not into the same bowl with the potatoes. For more pop of a flavor add a lil cinnamon and dried rosemary seasoning #yum Just a suggestion.

      @@makaylaanneofficial yw if you wanna have a lil unhealthy cheat day. Add also to the above a lil flour, soft butter, brown sugar, diced onions and cheyenne pepper. Flatten the pattie’s out dust them with flour before putting them in the grease. You’ll thank me later😆

      @@makaylaanneofficial Lolololol-wished you could have tasted my pattie’s this morning #Yummy😆I actually take a shortcut. I use Alexia brand sweet potato puffs. I put them in a bowl then the microwave w/all my ingredients added (except the flour) for about 2-3mins to soften-i take them out add a lil water or O.J. to soften-then flour to bind(i don’t use egg)….If you try this let me know how it turns out for ya. I Luv Luv to cook and my family enjoys eating my food!

    Tried this today n I was soo excited about it .. and maybe I just suck .. but it didn’t work for me lol .. I couldn’t get the patties to stay together so it came out more like clumps of sweet potato instead lol .. where’d I go wrong!? 😩💔

    • @makaylaanneofficial
      @makaylaanneofficial  3 роки тому +2

      Oh no! Trust me, you don’t suck…that happened to me the first few times I tried making sweet potato hash browns. A few things to try next time …
      1: really squeeze out all of the water so they’re a really chalky consistency
      2: there may be either too much or not enough egg. The egg is the binder but if you have too much, they’ll fall apart. If there’s too much egg, just squeeze them a little bit (not too much) before putting them in the pan.
      3: make sure your oil is hot enough so the second they hit the pan, they start to cook. If they sit in oil that isn’t warm enough, they’ll soak up the oil and become too soggy and fall apart before they start to cook.
      4: really press them together in a ball form and with the back of your spatula, press them down slowly and make sure one side is fully cooked before flipping it.
      I hope this helps. Keep trying and let me know if you find a better way! It took me a few tries to get them just right. 😋

      @@makaylaanneofficial thanks for responding and the tips! I will definitely be trying them out again .. I actually used them on a breakfast burger .. Toasted brioche buns, bourbon bacon jam on the bottom, meat patty, your sweet potato hash browns and a fried egg and cheese on top of that .. the flavor was still really good but next time I hope I get that crunch with all your tips!

    It would make more sense to squeeze the water out into a different bowl! You just squeezed it onto the rest of the sweet potato, meaning you'll be squeezing that same water out each time you squeeze a batch!

      I’d hardly call less than an inch of avocado oil on the pan “deep frying” but you could bake them if you’re worried about it 😋
