@Helmsburgsawmill I'm working New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, it's a busy time of year in my profession. It's wonderful that you will have time with your daughter ☺️ I'm enjoying your content 👍
That varies on each log! Honestly with an extremely nice and straight log, doesn’t matter! On a log that has 3 good sides and one bad, I’ll leave the bad side for last, so all of the knots are confined to those bosrds
Yes we do. However at some point I’ll explain the finishing process and why some of those ones that have to much wane, are actually just fine. Even some that completely miss a couple feet on the end
Hey, I am fairly new to your channel and I was wondering if you might be able to do a walk through and show what the whole mill does ? Thanks you if you can. Enjoyed the video.
Lights are too bright just the one where the cameras looking at the blades need a little shade over it so it doesn’t blind as of the TV other than that it’s awesome and you’ve got a great show going and yes I’m subscribed and I do give you likes but that one light is too bright thanks guys
Do you use a metal detector? With all that fine, dry sawdust laying around, all it takes is one little spark and you, your employees and sawmill will be history in a flash. Please consider keeping the accumulated sawdust to minimum. This situation can be compared to grain dust causing an elevator explosion which I have witnessed personally. Be safe!!
The sawdust in a mill has a very high moisture content. What you are talking about would happen in a millwork shop after the lumber has been kiln dried.
This is all going for grade! I did a couple of orders before Christmas break that were truck beds! I didn’t make a video of it, because I was just trying to get some work done before the week off:)
The new lights look great.
Thank you sir!!
Man you are running the wood through the mill faster than I’ve ever seen, must be the new lighting which is really nice. Keep up the good work.
The new lighting does make it look better.
The new lighting is going to help everything
Good looking red oak! Happy New Year.
Happy New Year!! If you haven’t already done one, how about a video tour of your entire operation.

It’s just because I’m taking a couple days off of putting videos up! I’ll have my daughter!

Great channel. The new lights really make watching better. Can see much better. How do you decide where you make the first cut?

@Helmsburgsawmill thank you for your reply. Keep the videos coming!
Hey, Ian, do you have an offline edger, too? Occasionally, I see a board that needs a little TLC come off the saw.
Yes we do. However at some point I’ll explain the finishing process and why some of those ones that have to much wane, are actually just fine. Even some that completely miss a couple feet on the end
@Helmsburgsawmill I would like to hear more about that and all aspects of your operation. And more if your house. It is beautiful place!
Thankyou Ian and the same to you Guys.
happy new year to you all
Happy New Year! Here's hoping you and your suppliers manage the forest and not destroy the future of oxygen!
Don't worry, I am certain our government will protect us from all bad things. Especially propaganda

I’m going to be putting a bunch of newer stuff up this year!! Thank you for commenting what you’d like!
Hi Ian,
Your sawmill is so efficient! Who are your main customers? Millwork shops?
Happy New To All.
HAPPY NEW YEAR IAN.
Are all these logs you're milling still part of that huge log delivery you received a couple of weeks ago ??
Yes!! I’m coming towards the tail end and the best logs have been saved for last
@Helmsburgsawmill . I'm looking forward to seeing them on the mill.
Do you manually adjust the edger blade for each cut? The edger blade must be a precise depth to be hidden by the large blade cut.
May everyone have a blessed 2025.
Do you gain footage of debarking

He said "Let there be light"
You should do just debarking videos as well you’re quite interesting you know 20 minute you barking videos I’d watch him I’m sure other people would
Can you show the controls
I’d say I have that 5-6 times in the channel if you watch hard enough. However I plan on getting another one up soon anyways!

Sad a beautiful tree has to look forward to being a railroad tie
You must exist in a world where everything you own and live in is rainbows and unicorn farts.
I would rather be a tie than toilet paper
Ian is this red 6/4 total in sold for a grade, or is it going to truck beds or construction?
This is all going for grade! I did a couple of orders before Christmas break that were truck beds! I didn’t make a video of it, because I was just trying to get some work done before the week off:)
out of focus
You might need to get your eyes checked
