People are so quick to say it's obvious that she was just drinking and her family is denying it, but I feel like it's so much more complicated than that. This case is extremely haunting and it has stuck with me ever since I first saw it. 😫
I love how I always find new stuff to watch (so thankful during these times) and always get accurate descriptions and feelings about movies that I've already watch. It would be pretty exciting to have a Top 20 about Religious Horror, can't wait for that.
So happy you mentioned “there’s something wrong with aunt Diane” that is the most interesting true crime story I’ve ever heard. I became obsessed with the story after I found out about it
I rented The Skin I Live In based on your most disturbing foreign movies list. It was great and really disturbing! I love Antonio Banderas and the lead actress was great too!
I recommend you "Girl from nowhere", it's an excellent thriller thai tv series available on netflix, it kinda plays like Black Mirror where each episode tells an independent story, it's great I hope you can give it a try!!
My partner and I actually went to Spookers in Auckland last year and honestly you'd love it. There was a forest attraction where the scare actors have fake chainsaws and they chase you through the forest and it's honestly so wild!
I recommend The Jinx, a very well done doc. It’s not horror, but it it does involve an unsolved murder, and has one of the greatest moments I’ve ever seen in a docuseries/documentary of any kind.
Religious horror: Angel Heart, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Midsommar, obviously, but as an oddball choice, The Rapture. Not conventional horror, but the ending is pretty horrifying. Serial killer films: Zodiac, and on a related note, the series Mindhunter, both based on real-life killers. Donnie Darko-esque: Mulholland Drive, and the series Twin Peaks, which was a direct influence. (Now I have to see The Jacket.)
If you guys like Hereditary I highly recommend Rosemary's Baby. It's not scary but it's a physiological thriller. I know it's old but trust me! It was darker than I thought it'd be! I can't stop watching it!
Your recommendation videos make me super happy. There's so much good stuff out there to see! I recently watched the 2017 Brazilian film 'Good Manners', and I'm surprised at how little buzz this seemed to get. It's massively quirky and I think it can be classified as magical realism...or at least its strange and toothy cousin.
Thanks Emma 💜 I’m definitely going to check there’s something from with aunt Diane! Another good underwater film is Humanoids from the Deep which I hardly hear anyone talk about !
When i lived in the states I was looking up films that were made around where I was in Utah. Frozen was one of those films. It actually scared the hell out of me. Very scary in a nightmare scenario, awful deaths way. Haunting.
Thanks as always for the recommendations, Emma. So many of your recommendations usually fall into two categories with me: 1) I haven't seen that before and 2) I have seen it and haven't been able to forget how disturbing it was.😉 I'm going to check out the French film Evolution (2015) and give Hour Of The Wolf (1968) a re-watch (it's been decades). I will keep the wtf documentaries in mind too.
You know I have never seen 'The Lobster' good recommendation as I really enjoyed Yorgos Lanthimos directing of period/costume piece and kick ass film in general 'The Favourite' in which I'm sure you have seen. Thanks a million for all the recommendations to expand my film "repertorium" . Peace to you Emma :)
I recommend a Japanese movie titled Museum it's more of a thriller/investigative film though based on a manga. Literally no one talks about it and I find it really good along with the Korean movie Thirst.
You can't have a religious horror list without...."The Devil's" (1971, Oliver Reed). Animated horror: Urikisoji: The Demon Womb, and " Grave of the Fireflies". Good list. Will petulantly wait for "The Devil's" to be mentioned like the insane actress from "The Audition." Also..."Freaks"...the banned classic.
@@spookyastronauts No worries...your channel is enjoyable, regardless. Some of the avante garde films of the late 60's, early 70's ( e.g. " The Naked Prey"...most horrific cannibal Holocaust sequence ever) are worth checking out. ☺
hey, I'm wondering if you've ever seen the movie The Hole (2001)? It stars Thora Birch and Keira Knightley? it was released in 2001, these 2 girls invite 2 dudes to party the weekend away with them in a old, underground, unused bomb shelter no body knows they are there, they have the key so they can get out but the handle gets stuck and they are trapped. keep in mind it too (in my opinion) is a total WTF movie, but I think you'll like it. If your friends and family tell you, on a regular basis, that you watch some weird s**t, then youll probably like this movie. Just stick with it, the ending it totally worth it and its under 2 hrs long, like an hour and 45 min. Some people say its stupid, but every movie has to start somewhere, and at their core most horror movies couldnt happen but we dont watch them necessarily for their believeable reality. That was the biggest issue people seem to have with the movie, but it is a really good scary mind frick of a story. I dont want to give too much away but its like a psychological thriller, theres no ghost, no boogie-man like monsters, just the monsters human beings can be when forced into an extremley difficult , stressful, and also life threatening situation.
Serial Mom was my jam as a kid in the 90s. It did leave me healthily terrified of being violently slain in public restrooms though. Great list. I always end up noting recommendations from your videos.
You're awesome Emma you always suprise me with good recommendations I haven't seen like Extremity, Serial Mom, Requiem and Wolfy. Edit: The Jacket is one of my favorite movies. p.s I'd like a religious horror list.
Some of the less known or spoken about horror films that are good A Dark Song, Calvaire , Vinyan , In My Skin, Satan, Malefique , Livid, Transfiguration

There's a Mexican film called "El castillo de la pureza" (The castle of purity) that's very similar to Dogtooth, some people even say Dogtooth is based on that one :)
Movies similar to The Platform (random group of people, locked up and trying to survive) I can think of The Cube, Circle (available on Netflix) and Das experiment (but go for the original German version, the remake, as usual, is crap). Love the channel btw ! 🥰
@@spookyastronauts Also, if you're planning on anything body-horror or fetishrelated horror, you should take a look at "Feed". I can't remember you ever mentioning it, but I might have just missed it. Anyway it's pretty good, and rarely talked about in my opinion.
For something claustrophobic I'd suggest 'Crawl Or Die'. It has a bunch of soldiers being chased by a xenomorph-y looking alien through a series of tunnels that keep getting smaller and smaller. I don't get claustrophobic but by the end even I was feeling it.
I was a bit let down by Underwater...it was alright but nothing special IMO. If you ask me, one of the best and most claustrophobic Underwater Horror stories has not been adapted for the screen yet: Nick Cutter´s novel The Deep! And maybe my favourite documentary is the Paradise Lost Trilogy about the West Memphis Three. So raw and disturbing. And moving in the end.
Some good religious horror movies I like are To The Devil A Daughter (1976) starring Christopher Lee and Nastassia Kinski and Fear No Evil (1981.) Fear No Evil is a bit campy in some parts but still fun.
I freaking LOVE Black Mirror. It is so disturbing. I didn't care for Lobster and I usually enjoy A24 films. Buried...Holy...Man! That is one intense movie. And so heartbreaking. I'd love a top 20 Religious Horror video.
I know you probably saw Apostle and I wonder if that would end up on your religious horror list this year. The scene when the dad punishes the boyfriend , messed me up for a couple days!

I dont know about top... I hate ranking haha, I might keep my top 3 for the end or something like that!
Buried and Frozen are amazing underrated horror movies!! You should do a top Situational Horror Movies list.

There's Something Wrong With Aunt Diane haunts me to this day. I just can't understand it, and I don't think anyone can or ever will.

Abducted at Plain sight blew my mind! It's one of the most impossible to believe!

Haunt is so good such a well made and underrated film that keeps you on edge all the way throughout
I recommend The Jinx, a very well done doc.
It’s not horror, but it it does involve an unsolved murder, and has one of the greatest moments I’ve ever seen in a docuseries/documentary of any kind.

The handmaid’s tale is absolutely MIND BLOWING. Best show I have seen in a very long time.
Glad you are a fan Kristen!
Been putting myself off watching that. Which is odd as I like Elisabeth Moss.
First season only. Rest is made up by writers and it shows. Now the show spins in circles and leads nowhere.
