  • Really? Do we really need to pick out the black pebbles of the ADA Aqua Gravel? We reached a new level of crazy in the process of setting up the biggest planted tank of our Gallery. Only to realize at the end, that we have actually built a true South-American biotope aquascape! How much better can this story get? Tune in and find out. Thanks to Aquaflora for the plants and to Aquarium Dietzenbach for the beautiful fish.

      We've been the one who introduced the device 4-5 years ago in the EU after a long test phase. Used it for many years, but currently we have less in our displays. We've stepped up on maintenance and with this we have even more balanced layouts. No need such a device necessarily. 👍

      Also, Altums are more difficult to find as they are wild-caught, and we could not put our hands on some on such short notice. These blue Angels look a lot like them, once they grow a bit more they will be even more stunning. They've been in the tank only for a couple of days when we shot these final scenes with them, so they still need a couple of weeks to have their color and texture pop.

    “A biotope is an area of uniform environmental conditions providing a living place for a specific assemblage of plants and animals. Biotope is almost synonymous with the term habitat” Every aquascape is not a biotope. Every biotope is not an aquascape.

    • @GreenAquaShop

Would like to report in between how the aquarium is doing, whether algae are coming again or other problems arise and how you are going to counteract them, I would like to have a video or two about how you can solve problems in your aquarium ... see, It is so, every aquarist wants such an aquarium !!! 90% fail because of the implementation and the quality of the aquarium because they do not understand the problems in their water, and then give up very quickly, but make a few videos how you solve problems ... Green Aqua is so incredibly beautiful and wonderful, See you later this year, off to the plane and then to Green Aqua 💪🏻👌🏻👍🏻🍀

    I laughed quite some in this episode, right from the very beginning looking at Balazs picking up rocks so cheerfully. Tbh I’ve never seen someone look so happy and enjoying it (perhaps when the camera is off, Balazs did some intense hair pulling and a loud scream of death, who knows..) 😄 The duo of Goofy Balazs and Serious Tommy is always such an enjoyment to watch. One who loves to spend as much as he can on a new tank, and Tommy (the Vanguard of Treasury) pulling the leash to hold back Balazs not to dash off with another 80 pots of plant. It’s not just about business and work, but you are truly passionate and love what you do, and it shows in each and every videos you make. And I think that is why Green Aqua video are such a joy to watch.
    Aside from that the tank itself is beautifully made despite the ‘simplicity’ and how clean it looks. My personal interpretation is showing me that life is returning to this long-forgotten place and the fishes are there to return & celebrate. It gave me a Zen feeling when I look at it, and that is what makes Aquascape a beautiful world. Congratulations on this amazing tank! I really like it 😊 👍

      Makes it brownish. Also, we noticed some plants to suffer a bit. We don't like the floating bubbles in the tank, these reactors (diffusers) will corrode easily. These are the drawbacks and the reasons we never use these any more in our tanks. Except this one, where the Oxygenation was of great importance.

    Hello Ballaz, I like this project because it is very simple and the result is good .
    Could you add the quantity of soil in your videos because it's very important for us ?
    Example : ADA Aqua Soil Amazonia II (27 L) , ...
    Thank you

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому +1

      Oh, I know what you mean, not sure we always keep track of how much we use. I know, I know. Haha. But when we do, I always try to do that. Anyway, I'll tell you how much we used here, and you can always calculate it for yourself. In the middle there is an average of say 8 cm of soil thickness (general plant soil), the island is about 100 cm wide in the 180 cm tank and it is about 35 cm deep in the 45 deep tank. So 8x100x35 / 1000 = 28 liters of soil went into this approximately. That is 3 from the 9 liter bags, approximately. For the Base Layer Fertilizing substrate you'll have to divide that by 8 (you have 1 cm instead of 8) and that is 3.5 liters, so a 4 liters will be enough. I talk about this in our substrate tutorial too.

    I would suggest to add some Phoenix Rasboras aka the chili Rasboras,It is Native to: Southwestern Borneo, Indonesian province of Kalimantan Selatan (South Kalimantan) and it can survive in water quality of pH: 5.0 - 7.2 And the Green Neon Tropical Tetra is very small native fish to South American rivers,Their ideal survival water Ph quality can be as low as 3.0 or 4.0,I hope this helps and by all means the 650 litre Biotope aquarium tank looks amazing 💎💎👌👍

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much for the suggestions Freyja.
      I'm sure the hardcore biotope fans would kill us if we would use Rasboras in this tank though. They would even want us to have fish from the same river, or the same part of that river. Haha.
      For the Green Neon Tetras - well I'm afraid those would be eaten by the Angels, these bigger cichlids will hunt down anything that is small enough to be considered a prey. The Corys can defend themselves (they have slightly venomous spines), that's the only reason we were not afraid to introduce them in the tank.

    Hi Balazs, quick question: is the Eheim 2273 not a Professional 4 version (in the description is 3)? Thayeria boehlkei I think is forgotten type of fish in our aquariums. Personally I think it's too many fish all together. I love Angles fish, especially those with vertical stripes. What is the difference between "blue" and "yellow", I mean which type is more/closer to the original wild once? In general tank look good as for beginning of its life. 👍
    Greatings from Manchester UK to all aquatic life lovers. Stay safe.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому

      No, that is the filter that filters, not thinks, haha. I don't like filters that think. :) They should do their job, period. I guess I'm old fashioned. Haha. I think this tank is not overpopulated, considering the strong filtration and the two twinstars, and also the sheer size of the tank. I wanted to reproduce something like you also see in nature, a huge shoal of fish. Nothing less, nothing more. We don't usually do this, we usually limit the number of the fish a lot, and have more plants, that is the Nature Aquarium style we pursue, this was meant to be different. I think the Altums should be the original species, these colorful ones are a bit further away from those. But we could not put our hands onto Altums on such short notice. Unfortunately. Thanks for the kind comment, cheers!

    Not bad. Certainly well done. I think you reached your goal rather splendidly.
    Though I'm not really a fan of plain black & white.
    Would love to see you do something similar with reds & blues . . . e.g. Reds a la Arizona, Utah red rocks or something similar. Neons/Cardinal tetras, turquoise & blue Discus, Dwarf Gourmies, Manzanita red wood, Maybe even some large lapis lazuli stones (expensive!) etc.
    The short plants on the bottom only were a bit toooo minimalist for my taste. I like tall plants of various shapes as well as some medium plants.
    When things are done in too minimalist way--even 'merely' to emphasize the fish--it feels too sterile & mechanistic, to me. Kind of like a sterile high tech dystopian sci fi movie.
    Anyway--love your tanks and program. Thanks lots.

    It's quite nice so far, but you guys really need to consider a freshwater sump tank on these large builds. A 16L canister?
    Drill an overflow box that gravity drains into a secondary tank and return with a Lilly pipe from a return pump. It will be easier to service, greatly expand your water treatment options, allow for far more media than the canister, and probably be cheaper?
    Just a friendly idea :)
    Also the TwinStar electrolysis will produce some oxygenation, but surface agitation would be better. TwinStars advantage is the production of reactive oxygen species: super-oxide, ozone, even some hydrogen-peroxide. Bryophyta's (moss) is a primitive plant form not far removed from Algae, if you oversize an electrolysis device or overuse one it will create a similar effect as if you dosed ozone or hydrogen-peroxide to the tank. That's where the algae control comes from, its low concentration of reactive oxygen. Try running a smaller unit, and never oversize one.

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому

      We do have sumps here and there, but just with all systems there are pros and cons on all filtration. Sump has cons too. On this system we have the same filtration for over 8 years now? :)

      That's why we introduced the Twinstar sterilizer that will add a lot of Oxygen to the water. They are not swimming upwards any more, what you saw is probably the result of their accommodation process, they have just been introduced to the tank because of the video release, a day earlier.

    You should have gone with the black phantom tetras instead of the black widows. They should work well with what you're trying to achieve and the best part is they interact well with each other making the tank more interesting to look at. Just get all males If you don't want the brownish tinch of the females. BTW you have too many black widows in there. Try removing around 40-50%

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  4 роки тому

      Thanks for the suggestions! Well, I always wanted a 'crowded look' in one of our tanks, as far as fish go. Never did that before, but I felt with this scape and this filtration I can do it safely. So I went for it. Our problem with the black phantoms is that we've used them extensively before, and many people use them. Black widows are somehow not as popular, and we wanted to opt for some fish that are less used nowadays. I love the way they are scattered around in the whole tank, yet if you watch them there's a distinct pattern in their swimming around. Your suggestions are right though. I love these types of comments.

    Has anyone witnessed the angels follow the coryodras or was that hogwash 🤣? Can’t wait for the feeding videos and hope to catch a glimpse of the Coreys schooling. Always loved minimalist style homes. Never thought it would look so good inside of an aquarium.
    Amazing work again Green Aqua team!

      There are so many fish in this tank at the end, that nobody follows anybody. Haha. Thanks for the kind feedback, glad you like the scape.

    Very nice simple design, minimalist and elegant. Somehow still have some feel like not complete for the wood, too naked maybe due too many thin branch. hehehe that's is my own personal taste. I always give big thumb up for Green Aqua tank setup.

    I'd add some Blyxa japonica in the background and I'd use a stronger circulation pump to make the fish shoal better

      Thanks for the suggestions, Blyxa is not South-American though, the biotope fans would kill us. :)

      Yepp, the other option would be the 450 liter one, but we crowded that with rocks, so yepp, this is the only one. Thanks for watching.
