About 10 years ago, South Park: The Stick of Truth was released to wide acclaim AND sincere adoration from fans of South Park itself. Somehow they had managed to make an unbelievably authentic South Park experience in the form of a Role Playing Video Game. About 3 years later they followed it up with an even more robust sequel, The Fractured But Whole, delivering an elevated, more ambitious, and more cinematic experience than the first. So needless to say, after the announcement that another South Park game was in development, fan anticipation was HIGH. And in August 2023, South Park Snow Day was announced, which I would say was met with… mixed reactions. Whereas the previous games made you feel like you’ve been dropped into an episode of South Park, Snow Day looked to be an entirely different beast, abandoning the 2D paper cut out style of the show for a fully 3D action adventure co-op game. And now, a mere 7 months after that announcement, the game is here. So the question is, does it deliver a fun South Park experience, or is it too big of a departure after the previous entries were such adored extensions of the show itself? Let’s trudge through the mountainous piles of snow and dive into the world of South Park: Snow Day!

Telling me that Stick of Truth came out 10 years ago really fucking hurt my sense of time... that game feels like it's at most 5 years old.
It makes sense. It looks like an episode the the graphics are essentially timeless.
@@smeegy1As much as I like realistic graphics I do have to say that they age fast while cartoon graphics do not age as long as the quality is good because they are not trying to mimic real life on limited hardware.
It's not even being pirated by anyone.
Wow, time passes, imagine that!!!
It looks like a 20 year old game to me. Perspective is weird. 😂
Stick of Truth was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, a studio that tends to put out creative, well-written games that can be a bit buggy at times (might be a mild understatement).
Fractured But Whole was developed internally by Ubisoft, a company that, while over-reliant on the Open World Checklist formula, has a lot of great developers with a ton of experience.
Snow Day was developed by Question LLC, who have released only one other game, a survival horror game in 2019 that doesn’t even have its own Wikipedia page.
The difference in quality is not shocking.
It's really not that bad being a game adaptation of a show developed by a team nobody knows anything about. It could've been absolutely awful but I think it goes to show how much influence Matt and Trey had over the game that it still feels like South Park and has a competent gameplay loop, even if it's a bit boring.
@@MintyLime703I agree!
Ubisoft, company who sold tutorial to Fractured but whole as a seperate 2 dollar DLC..
Who made phone destroyer (if that can be counted for anything)
Wow maybe I am too biased, because I only enjoyed Stick of Trueth, but it shows. The first was the best. The second was still good, but more like a checklist product and the third is the downfall. Ditching anything that made the first 2 Games good.
I hope it was just an experminet that failed, and if we get a 4th game, it will be in the old style again.
You know the more I think about it, if they wanted to do a 3D South Park game, they could’ve taken inspiration from the Paper Mario series in terms of exploring. The character could’ve been walking around as flat paper while the environments around them could’ve been made out of paper or cardboard.
Exactly like South Park's season 17 intro. It's such a shame they didn't think of that.
is that kinda exactly what the first two games were?
@@shr1mpys No. They were not full 3d spaces
They should of used a toon shader
@@Michael-bn1oi oh i get what you mean. mb ive never played paper mario
This game feels like it was meant to be Live Service/Multiplayer only.
I thought that's what it was going to be. I knew something was wrong when I didn't even know this game was out and steam only told me in a pop up it wasn't even trending lol.
That’s what it is isn’t it?
@@nappacef3734 No, it's essentially a 3D brawler with co-op. There's no PvP whatsoever
@@Druid-T oh my bad! So you just do the same five levels over again?
I assumed there’d be some like BR of some type or something you could do afterwards aha
It is live service.
if they wanted to do a 4 player coop fighting game, they could have kept the 2d aesthetic and did a Castle Crashers style beat em up
that would be nice, especially as the four boys.
@Sarahm2261 seeing how major the new kid is and how all games are cannon to each other leaving the New Kid out would suck.
@@ngcwiz1755could have Kenny be dead /some zombified boss enemy. Then it could be the new kid and the other three boys.
@@Donovarkhallum Quite literally just explained the end of the first game😑
@@ngcwiz1755 yeah what's your point? One moment not another game can be a thematic element for a new game. It works since you would want too fit. New kid into that 4 player. Maybe you could take out Stan and have him be having relationship issues with Wendy. But I don't think you could take out Cartman or Kyle.
Honestly Matt and Trey can just live out their days doing whatever they wish, they've done so many things, achieved plenty, a decades long running show, a movie, multiple games, a large fanbase, a music career etc. Like they've legit done a bit of everything, it's truly admirable how multi talented they are.
They are legit comedic geniuses and way more insightful than they get credit for. Their latest special was incredible too.
Right, they can do whatever they want-but they chose to release a pretty poor quality product. People are allowed to be bummed and criticize.
Yea they have done all that but that doesn't absolve their new projects from criticism. Especially when they intent to milk it with live service mAnd that particular one is very poor
@@GothPaoki criticize it all you want. I just think it's ok to screw up sometimes especially if you have a long history of delivering the goods.
Such a weird comment to make on this vid 😂
It's been confirmed that this was supposed to be a remake of the south park N64 game but halfway through development the higher ups told them it needed to be a new stand alone game. That's why the game feels rushed and has no polish.
source for this?
i guess they nailed the n64 part by making it bad
Confirmed by who??
@@RandomStunt i read that in jimmy's voice for some reason
I wish they made a game based of the episode "Fun times with weapons"
Cool weapons to fight foes with, seeing the all characters get cool ninja design's
& add some metal gear stealth sections.
What I was expecting when they said a “3D game” was something like Danganronpa V3 with a 3D world you can walk around in during “free periods” with 2D characters and intractable objects. I don’t hate Snow Day, but it just felt like a kind of generic action game with South Park smacked on top.
Why v3 specifically? Thats kind of embedded in the dna of the entire series
@@Multi-Waves_Music I mentioned V3 because the navigation system for 2 is slightly different and I haven’t played 1, and UDG is kind of a third-person perspective
@@delphoxqueen5595 oh yeah that's true super Danganronpa was different idk why I forgot about that!
Thhe previous two games have replay value, this game doesn't have much content to really be content with. The Fractured but whole gave 40 plus hours of experience with the DLCs and the Stick of Truth is good for pulling an all nighter.
The random drops are nice, but I don't think I'll be replaying this unless there's a new update
I wish you would elaborate on what you mean with replay value. Besides choosing a different class the playthrough won't be much different from your first one. I would maybe replay it after a year or two passes so it isn't as fresh on my mind. Most of the quests have one way to beat them and the characters don't make new jokes. I also think this game is underwhelming, but can we stick to accurate criticism?
The only thing I could agree with is the lesser amount of content and which we can assume might be added with continuous patches and DLC.
@@inferior3199 You not agreeing with them doesn't make their critcism inacurate. It just makes you a dick for saying it does.
It just released 😂 what do you expect
All they had to do was ninjas
Except that they weren't into the idea of that plus that deserves its own RPG, not a game like this. LOL
@@dnmstarsi Obviously OP meant as a true RPG sequel.
I’m still waiting for a game styled after Good Times with Weapons
Hell yeah. feels like the natural evolution
19:18 - So, in Stick of Truth, the stick 'allows the wielder to control the universe'. What that meant for their game was that if you had the Stick, you made the rules. Fights in the land of Zaron always seem to involve the rules.
That’s what they should have done. Everyone against the new kid. Becoming the Clyde of stick of truth
couldve played off of Professor Chaos telling you to "let your darker side free" at the end of the Fractured Butt Whole by literally making the New Kid into the villain. Don't know if you'd still play as them and how the story would progress and whatnot, but it would be really interesting imo
I feel like the only thing this game suffers from is lack on content, it felt a lot like Minecraft dungeons if anyone’s played that, fun but can get repetitive fast with the lack of gameplay variety.
Literally, this. The game isn't BAD, just clunky and limited. It's not GOOD but it COULD be if they had MORE.
i think their heads were just in the wrong place, the first thing i think of when i think of a south park game is the ability to explore the town in an open world. this game was never gonna work
I agree with all of these comments too and would probably add that the lack of content really is a huge problem because of how heavy the storylines were in the past two games. While it would have taken much longer, if they had as much content/writing as the past games it would have really made this hack and slash game so much better. I also believe that the lack of weapons really makes this hack and slash game very eh.. especially because I feel there is only one or two weapons that feel relevant when playing.
Minecraft dungeons but with swearing and fart jokes
Honestly I genuinely like this game. I just wish there was at least triple the content 🤷♀️
When Cartman says "If anyone's been a piece of shit, it's been us." I think he should of changed "us" to "Kyle" coz it's Cartman so him saying "If anyone's been a piece of shit, it's Kyle" would of been funny.
Agreed, though I think you should also change "should of" to "should have" yourself
They could’ve made a hilarious South Park dating sim where the whole school starts being obsessed with a “power couple” and it turns into a huge status competition and u have to navigate it like a choose your own adventure. Depending on who u talk to the most and what u say different events get triggered, Cupid cartman can be a big antagonist by making couples cheat and switch around a bunch, making it that much more chaotic, and the climax is that eventually all the parents start getting invested and the entire town becomes obsessed with the “best couple” only for them to break up right after the game ends. Instead we got fortnight but with snowballs and weeble wobbles.
Honestly that would be kinda hilarious; sorta like a combo of South-Park Fractured movement, Stick of Truth’s combat and flavor and world BUT have something like Monster Prom’s system for the ‘dating’ part and have New Kid be a counter to a ‘Cupid Cartman’ as he continues to manipulate the town as New Kid tries to either side with Prof. Chaos Butters being a villain or just rolling with the punches still and helping everyone out.
Maybe even have the finale be the New Kid using their Social Media powers to manipulate everyone to think Cartman is the best and have them constantly look at Cartman thinking ‘he’ll do something interesting soon’ so he can’t physically disrupt the relationships anymore without his scheme being revealed.
WHATEVER YOUR SMOKING; I WILL HAVE IT. THIS CONCEPT MADE ME SPIT OUT MY WATER LMAO
That is such a good idea man, chheeeezzz I wish they could see this
Dude theyre kids
@@donnyhere2419 On the contrary, I actually think this could work since there was a whole episode where the town went crazy over shipping Creek
Best part of Snow Day was getting my refund
I was so disappointed by this 😞 especially when you realize it’s probably the final South Park game
How do you figure?
I doubt it honestly, I’m pretty sure there will be another
@@daelen.cclark because people believe that season 30 will be the final South Park season. And it’s unlikely that they will make a South Park game in that timespan, or after the series ends.
Just because they got renewed to season 30 doesn’t mean it ends on season 30, the whole reason season 27 is taking so long is because disputes between Paramount and HBO.
What I’m scared of is the network won’t let the IP die. South Park will be the next Simpsons, or God forbid, Family Guy. So we might get more SP games, but they will make Snow Day look like RDR2.
As big as South Park is, it's still a "niche property" for video games. Multiplayer focused games need a healthy player base. Tying your multiplayer game to a fixed fanbase by using an existing IP is an initial boon to the playerbase, but has been shown time and time again to fail in the long-term because the potential for growth is tied exclusively to that IP. Heavily limiting the growth potential of the game and community.
I wasn't expecting a 3rd RPG, but I wasn't expecting this either.
I WISH they would try to do a story like this as a paramount special or episode. The current event commentary has been getting kind of .. stale? Maybe not not stale but definitely shallow. They need to go back to doing some character driven stuff once in a while.
I really hope that the next RPG is about their anime personas that seems like a great idea to parody JRPGs specifcally
Just like they did with Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole? I'll be honest here the games had much more in common with JRPGS at the time than any western cRPG we were getting. Shocking, I know.
@@Jaquan018 cRPGs are not trying to be JRPGs, so what are you even trying to say?
Butters dikinbaus hot dogs or pimp days would be a hilarious restaurant style management game
Atleast we still have the first 2 games 🤷♂️
This game had a massive missed opportunity on not allowing couch coop. The main reason my sister bought this game was because it was multi-player. But then we learned it's only online coop
matt and trey shouldve pulled the plug on this like they did with their gameboy game. we couldve had another mary kate & ashley game instead of this stinker
The last 2 games were ideas of Trey this one was the idea of Matt.
And The game was very mild on jokes only there being like 5 jokes.
The dlc outfits and the fact it was apparently part of the paramount contract makes me think they might not have been able to do that even if they wanted, or that paramount might have meddled during its development
Then again I also heard that while the rpg focus was to the taste of one half of Matt and Trey, this third person shooter-esque style is more to the other half's taste, so the state of the game isn't entirely paramount's fault, if they meddled at all
Hopefully this is a learning experience, if nothing else

Should’ve had it where it was you playing as the main cast instead of “THE NEW KID” and have you fight chickens , throw snowballs , and other entities…
At least the kids accurately showed what happens when someone they're playing with becomes impossibly OP. The games cease to be fun when that happens.
they could’ve made it 3d while also maintaining the aesthetic of the show.
Ya like the paper textures.. would have helped lot.
Saw a comment saying they made this game mid on purpose because matt and trey didnt have full creative control since it was a contractually obligated game. Thats def some matt and trey shit to pull, heres hoping the next game is a true return to form.
I played the game with my friend and at first we had a blast, it was honestly so fun to just play with your friends but the problem is that we beat it in only seven hours so we didn't have anywhere else to go in the game but it was really fun so ima say 7/10
I’m glad you had fun too 😊
You didn't get bored with the repetition? It never added anything new.
@@Donovarkhallum when playing with friends i dont think its a big problem
Honestly, I like the idea of a 3D open-world South Park RPG, it just needed a better and more experienced team to make it.
I think they probably made this game underperform on purpose since it was a contractual obligation and they probably didn't have the level of creative freedom they wanted and they chose to make it look so different from the other games because they wanted to seperate it from the quality of the main south park games and presumably the next game, if there ever is one, will return to the original style and be made with the creative freedom and quality that they want to put into these games
I had a stroke reading this
Or maybe they just wanted to make a different kind of game, rather than doing the same thing for a third time.
Honestly instead of using four random kids as your companions if you don't have anyone to play, they should've used the secondary characters. Since this is the Fantasy version of the characters the only we have used in SoT was Jimmy, so it would've been cool to have him back alongside Tolkien, Craig, Tweek, Clyde and Timmy. Hell, also include some of the more underused ones like Kevin and even the girls, cuz some of them got Fantasy skins in Phone Destroyer
Ok imagine if they made another rpg and it goes something like this "ok new kid here's the deal we're going back to turn based games because apparently some people didn't think that trying to do a different thing was fun I mean I thought it'd be super cool to play this especially with friends but they complained that it was too short or that it was jn 3D we just wanted to try something different for once I guess we should just stick with this style"

And thus the Villain Arc foreshadowed by Professor Chaos will come to pass; in the TRUE Follow-up to TFBW[which I STILL Refuse to Acknowledge Snow Day as; since it's basically just a remake of the n64 Shovelware game that has the dishonor of being the VERY 1st South Park Video game of all time(I Wish that Stick of Truth WAS the first one; and Not THAT disasterpiece that even Matt & Trey themselves hated all those years ago)]
Idk why people are disappointed when the game looked bad since reveal. The art direction itself, or rather, the lack of it, was a big red flag

Good call
What were they talking about when they said you can’t do multiplayer with the 2D artstyle. I know nothing about game development but how is that possible?
it's not that you *can't* do it, it just becomes quite difficult, especially for this style of beat 'em up game. Think about games like hollow knight or any other metroidvania (though not necessarily beat 'em up's, similar style of gameplay loop), then imagine it with 3 other people flying around the screen. I imagine it would become very chaotic very quickly.
@@willza0112aren’t there literally those side scrolling co op beat-em up games
@@CountCalcium Yes. The answer of it being "hard" sounds like a copout.
The game lacks story, in my opinion, compared to the other two games, as well as theres many questionable things for gameplay. One is range weapons. Two, servers are questionable, and playing solo is not as fun because theres not as many things that you could try. Like when starting a mission, if you have friends or whatever, everyone gets a choice for bs cards, and it allows for more chaos. The last thing is that they should have more customization in everything. From clothes to cards so we could have more fun with the game instead of being so restricted.
Well as a South Park fan I'd didn't found South Park Snow Day to be that disappointing nor do I not agree with the IGN rating of 3 out of 10 I'd gave it 6 out of 10 an okay game game at best
I just feel like it was a money grab. We would’ve gladly waited for another 2d game versus this 3d bullshit.
I saw the interview where Matt Stone mentioned they were "tapped out" after the last two games. As soon as he said it, I was thinking "Oh boy, Snow Day is gonna suck."
This is what you get when you have a contractual obligation instead of an idea you feel passionate about.
You can't top Stick of Truth's 10/10
Lol since when do you need 3-D in order to do multiplayer and they never seen co-op Mario co-op, Zelda or 2-D fighting games
So many games have a disappointing third game It always goes like this:
1. First game released. It has issues but the core concept leads to it being a success
2. Second game released. Polishes gameplay and expands on the first in many ways
3. Third game release. Complete revamp of the formula into something no one asked for.
WHY? I know they said they were burnt out after making the first two games but try that with a new IP. Don't ruin the series people already like. You can make spinoffs, it's fine
And agreed. Hope the next one is a sequel to fractured.
This one technically is the sequel to fractured. Quite literally considering they didn't ease off on the "Blame New Kid for everything but keep demanding they help you"
The fact that they could have made a game that was based on when they played ninjas and then didn’t take it makes me Irrationally angry. Like even if they kept this style of game, and just made it with more content and more replay value it would of been so cool to me and they could of changed the card system to a weapon based skill tree system so that every weapon gave you multiple different options(an example would be the ninja stars you could either use them as ranged weapons, or lose the dps but impale someone’s eye and get them as like a dog companion) like they had such cool ideas and didn’t take them like bro😭😭
Such a good review! I’ve read other comments on the game writing it off as bad purely bc it’s 3D or bc of its alternative gameplay style vs the previous RPG mechanics (which I understand will cause inevitable disappointment for long time fans like myself who LOVED previous games) - so I appreciate hearing your thoughts on specific qualities in addition to the visuals and gameplay itself, like the world environment, storyline, progression, etc.
I couldn’t agree more that the world feels a bit disjointed as far as dialogue and side quests/story arcs go. Would’ve loved more opportunities for exploration! I think you’re probably right that they aimed for replay-ability on this one too, with tweaking your combat style and skill tree - but when the actual gameplay is so repetitive, I’m afraid the incentive to run again just isn’t there for me, personally. It may not be my cup of tea (I’m biased for RPG) but at least we can respect the consistent artistry of the SP creative team! Thanks for the interesting review! Your hard work is appreciated! c:
The reason the first two games took so much time and effort and were massive undertakings is because they were done right. South Park suits an RPG experience like nothing else. Snow Day is a disappointing jump onto the coattails of making money on cosmetics for a game that has an hours with of gameplay before you want to do something else.
I was super hyped for it since the team seemed so dedicated to it in teaser videos, but then I started playing and was…very confused. I’m currently on the part where you have to set some stuff on fire but it’s so time limited and if you walk into snow it disappears, so I stopped and just replayed FBW. Lol.
I had so much hope for them and didn’t mind them trying a new genre but I think they’re best at 2D RPGs
The episodes are semi-randomised, so if you quit and start it again, the task will be different. Yah I hated that "feat of strength" too so I just rolled the dice for a different one.

I get that they wanted to make it a live service game, but these games almost always feel like they launch with not nearly enough stuff to do as a video game, trying to get you to keep checking in on it later. It would have been a lot better to delay this release until the new season of the TV show was coming out so they could have more stuff to do and content updates ready to go.

I wasn’t surprised by it being bad. It looked and felt from the start like it was gonna be kinda eh. Doesn’t take away from my opinion of Matt and trey. It just clearly wasn’t something they cared about as much as their other projects.
should've done it like an actual tabletop game like DnD and have the spaces 3d made from cardboard like back in the early 90s drawing and cutting them out for set pieces then having the characters as tokens (making the combat 2 or 3d turn based) or go paper mario route
Lol, call it castles and cun*s or co*ks

i want a 3rd south park game with an option to date a character and have choices and relationships with others, why can we choose our gender, identity, religion etc even though it dosent matter at all, just a few diffrent dialougs... we even have a single status... imagin a game where we dont play superheros but are actually roleplaying living in south park, going to school. getting grades, hanging out with friends, get a relationship if the person likes you enough, and with a day night time circle where you have to go home before getting busted like in the first game. this would be a really great game, cause in tfbh it ends without us allowing to use our time fart power meaning it will never be night again and you can just delete the game cause there aint much more to do...
thank god i didn't have any expectations after I saw the first gameplay trailer for it.
This turned exactly out as anticipated, same with Suicide Squad.
I just want a South Park game where I get the choice to NOT join Cartman and obey his orders through most of it. Instead to actually choose a faction.
I mean its pretty straightforward: Trey and Matt didn't have the time for this that they did for the other two, so naturally the writing suffers the most. Making it a game in this style means more of the production can be handed off to other people. Essentially, Paramount made it part of their contract to use their IP for a game, and rather than spend 2-3 years writing and creating an entirely new SoT or FbW experience, they did some writing, made a premise, and let the game devs works.
When you've got the show, the specials, the restaurant, plus anything they're doing independently or outside of SP, something had to give. And that something was this. Considering they'd already proven their ability to make games twice, and put a lot of creative juice into those, I can't say I'm surprised they skimped this a bit.
Exactly my thoughts. The game ain't the greatest, but I know they got their hands FULL.
The game isn't part of the contract, only the Paramount+ movies are. The game is a passion project they wanted to use the money on, same as Casa Bonita & the weed business. They also have a dev team set up within the show's studios, so yeah, it was definitely something they were specifically passionate about.
I'd put more of the blame on THQ. It definitely feels like they rushed them a bit, as much as I love the game.
I knew it from the trailer 😅
I wouldn't mind seeing a well done 2.5d platformer/beat-em-up for a next South Park game.
Very disappointing game. I felt it was going to be lame and not as great.
I agree. This game was massively disappointing.
I already went into it cautiously since I don't like roguelikes, but I thought maybe this would be good anyway because South Park is generally so funny. But Snow Day is not just lacking in fun gameplay, but also in comedy. But it wasn't even just that, but graphically the game was severely lacking. Not because it was 3D, but because things like the Princess Kenny logo on her throne was completely pixelated and blurry, my character's head would show through his hair for seemingly no reason.
Also I have to assume that there's no school snow day episode in South Park because growing up in this part of America, snow days are just something you hear about and never experience. I can remember snow up past my knees and falling so heavy they couldn't even keep roads clear, but school was still open.
Im not a giant south park fan as it is which is why this game was decent in my books. I enjoyed the wave spawn and rogue like gameplay, but fully see how this probably ostriscized itself from both past game fans as well as core series fans
Sounds like this might have benefitted from going for a bb gun theme and turning it into a shooter
biggest snow day positive is that it’s maps can now be either ripped or recreated for a vr game’s mod
I do appreciate you giving more interesting criticism about the games weaknesses compared to most people. I don't usually like this argument when it's used, but it does feel like it's a case of "you are just mad it's different and wanted the same thing as last time".
which would be a valid feeling, especially considering that it is a sequel to those games with the new kid being included
plus, the game seems to be lesser than the past games so it doesn't seem like a case of different being bad
@@channel45853 I wouldn't say it's bad because it's different, but bad because it's not well done.
Plus the sequel argument falls flat since there are many games that can be considered sequels in a series that deviated from how the previous games played.
For example:The 2 new GoW games are sequels to the old GoW games and they changed a lot from their previous installments and they were fine. And if you would have some criticism towards them you would have to say something better than "oh it's not like the previous stuff".
I don't wanna give much weight to things like "Oh if you wanna make a good South Park game it must look like the show and be an RPG with an open world" which is just unnecessarily restricting.
I would love it if the next RPG game ends up being anime/martial arts themed like the Good Times with Weapons episode!
*let's fighting loooooove~*
Honestly I didn't really like the final boss fight but I did notice that while the boys don't exactly help you directly they do help by aiming the spotlights on the boss. Stan, Kyle, and Cartman can be found using the spotlights that are in the trees while Kenny drops TP into the fight. (Idk if this random but I also found Wendy and Tolkien using the spotlights too)
I wouldn’t say it’s massively disappointing, I had fun and I still think its enjoyable. It just could use more features and mechanics honestly.
Like, i genuinely hope they add alot of freed dlc later to make up for how little there really is. Like imagine if the new kid got a backstory like them being a shape-shifting robot from the center of the earth or something
I played about 2 hrs of snow day and i just dont enjoy the gameplay, not having a map in a 3d are is such a stupid idea its insane
The areas are so small and linear, I'm not sure why you'd need a map. The only spot I could picture getting a little confused is the main street level but even that only took about a minute to get from one end to the other.
Every like this comment gets I will watch an episode of South Park again
I think my big thing is where SoT & FbW felt like independent seasons where as SD feels like a 2/3 parter special.
Mechanically it really needed 3 more weapons in each category to feel at least not bare bones. Also a hub area like "The Division". aka. A large hub area where the "goal" is to keep the peace but you can also be a dick & screw over other players; get bad karma & become a target yourself.
As is now, it's fine, competent, just bare bones & a bit disappointing.
I hope there’s more 2D South Park games in the future. I don’t think we even need the dressings of a high fantasy or superhero backdrop. Just throw us into South Park and let us run amok! I’d love a choose your own adventure game that leans heavily on branching choices and taking us all around South Park.
My issue is how EVERYONE keeps comparing it to the previous two games 😅 despite the fact it’s pretty creative enough 🤷♀️
I just wanted a 3rd rpg using the “Fun Times with Weapons” theme
South Park going full online (almost live-service-like) with no story or npc is so dumb and such a cashgrab that i can't help but despise it
Tbh when i first saw the trailer i knew that this ain't gonna be that good
I get that people are disappointed 😅 but saying it’s ‘massively disappointing’ implies very high expectations 😳 and there’s nothing wrong with trying something different and people were quick to not like it …. I found it fun 🤷♀️
Another couple game ideas, 1) a baseball game based on the losing edge
2)a game based on fun with weapons
This game is just another attempt by game developers to milk fans with Battle passes and micro transactions that no one asked for. They could've made the game everyone wanted but got greedy.
Everyone acts like the south park creators are such good guys but in the last few years they've made decisions based purely on making money and screwing fans. The fact that I have to subscribe to TWO gd streaming services just to keep up with this show is a prime example of how f-ing greedy these people have become. Everyone acting like they're somehow getting one over on HBO's Max by also striking a deal with Paramount Plus. No you dummies they're screwing US over too.
there is a website where you can watch almost every episode, including the specials for free. you don't need to subscribe to any scammy streaming service.
search "free south park de"
i say almost because for some reason the ep "south park is gay" is inaccessible but thats the only one
A 2D sidescroll game like shredder's revenge would have been awesome
You said it was going to be good
when lol
I stopped watching South Park years before stick of truth came out and when I did get round to playing it was very happy to find that there were plenty of references to classic South Park, now a decade later Snow day sounds abit like it again but its been another 10 years of not watching modern South Park
Yeh the game sucks, the bigger question I have. Are “Snow Days” even a thing anymore ?!
Since the pandemic we can teach online ?! Surely Snow Days are a thing of the past… Feck, I’m only 37 and I sound old already…
I can't believe it.
A video where Johnny actually misses and has a bad opinion, I never thought I'd see the day.
Few people like it, it sucks tho
Yea me either, it’s a bummer a lot of people can’t seem to look past what they were expecting but it is what it is.
I didn't realize that the episode that the conflict is inspired from is from a south park episode that released 6 years ago...
Thanks For this! Turned 25 today! This made it Better 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂❤❤❤❤
Happy bday!
This entire game scream studio interference and live service bs. Saw it today for the first time and was amazed it’s only going for £25 brand new that set alarm bells off.
And I was right the fact it needs a constant internet connection and PlayStation plus to play it tells me all I need to know. Shame the trilogy died on its arse I’ll just replay stick and fractured again.
yall are forgetting something. its not meant to be the other two games. it may not feel like you're in an episode, it may not be an rpg. what it is however, is a genuinely good 3d hack and slash that happens to be set in the south park universe.
Agree. The problem is the content was done after a day with not so fun replay value.
These sorts of paint-by-numbers, "just" adequate games can be ok depending on price and amount of content. Not everything needs to be a million-hour commitment. And these work well for just adding a certain property as a coat of paint: I can easily picture a Marvel version where a doomsday weather machine is pumping out snow or a Star Trek version where the Klingons or whoever are terraforming a planet or something. The IP is set dressing but can still add a nice flavor to the familiar, low-commitment formula.
But this just has too little content for too much money.
South Park snow day isn’t terrible, but it had so much to live up to
I couldn't figure out what exactly you even do in the newest game until I started watching gameplay videos after release.
