@@ThisIsMego Exactly. I once recorded myself going down. I thought I was going fast enough to have a nice video. Unreal. It's the tiniest margins too, the racing is so tight and the performance levels so high. Troy (and Loic) are amongst the very best and most consistent racers out there, and with awesome personalities and tons of respect for their fellow racers.
Even if only four-tenths of a second, I can't even comprehend how anyone could go downhill faster than that. It seems like something which is on the very edge of human capability.
thats whats impressive about peak-level anything is that they're pushing the potential of the human form in highly specialized tasks to it's absolute capacity. here its split second decision making, balance, bike handling, etc. Incredibly impressive. I get the same feeling when I watch people like Peter Sagan race, or two great football teams going against each other. As I've grown older I've really started to appreciate the masters at work while they're at work.
Been cycling for over 10 years now, I still can't imagine myself going this fast on a trail like this. Hahahaha! I'd finish this course 8-10 minutes. No way I'd be going higher than 15km/h on a trail like that hahaha!
Awesome Run Troy. The real story here is how good your POV video is. This is one of the BEST pov videos that I have seen. It almost caputures perfectly what is looks and feels like to be in a race.
As much as it would've been nice to win, you're still a winner for even completing that course. That's crazy man! Should still be really proud of yourself to do something most people wouldn't dare to do
Amazing speed I can only imagine the amount of broken bike parts they go through a year ,no wonder we have such great MTB accessories because of riders like this -- well done Aussie maniac !!
Be no means I’m a pro, or even close to be able to come alive down those rock gardens at a quarter of the speed, but while rewatching some of my videos, I realized, that it looks shakier, than it feels. The eyes are quiet good in focusing on the „important“ stuff and so much gets blurred out in these intense parts. Still I can’t wrap my head around, how it is possible to drive like this 😧
@Tec Malo I was wondering if the camera technology has advanced so much that it is now able to see the rock garden (at speed) better than the human eye. Re thinking my original question, I'm guessing Troy's focus is a long way down the track at that speed, and he wouldn't be picking up anything directly in front of him apart from possibly feeling a couple of the bigger rocks. I can't get my head around it either. Superhuman.
That was so intense... I love how the crowd supported you. I just can't imagine how you can get through that intact and upright... :D This is what YT is made for!
Dude, even though you ended up second, you did extremely well!!! 😃 I mean, 98% of us will never even try this, so you can be really proud of you, gj! 😉
That is absolutely Unreal Fast. That old hard packed, loose, rocky, rooty, dusty line down the mountain requires so much focus and commitment. Troy came out of the start hut so fast, I really just don't even have the words. There are only a few humans that will ever go this fast on a MTB. I respect and love this sport even more after watching this.
That's amazing, can't believe y'all are able to maintain that speed despite the terrain you flying across! For what it's worth you did incredible and that run was amazing!
That was ridiculous athleticism and focus. I got goosebumps just watching. Kudos to you and the other bikers that raced your hearts out, and brownie points for the trick you did at the last jump 😉
out of all runs ive seen so far, this finally showed me how fast these guys fly.. so fast that the gopro smoothing correction couldnt keep up. Amazing run
Pull with opposite hand as you're pushing with you're leg to stop the slight steering wobble at the start and the middle. You might gain you're o.4 sec. But that was AWSOME !!! Some speed through that rock garden. Well done sir...
When i was a kid practiced sprints in a club for talented and when we were outside in a park there were hundreds of hobos talking with my trainer saying that they were almost champions of the world, but.001 seconds too slow, all careers were broken and they started drinking alcohol and living on the streets dying from freezing.
It’s amazing that people can do this without crashing! When there’s no weight behind that bike like a dirt bike has, it’s so easy to make a fatal mistake. I doubt most people know how dangerous this actually is. What I’m saying is, every time I see one of these downhill races I’m in awe of these young guys’ abilities
Friend: So what did you do today? Troy: Nothing much, I just rode my bike around for about 5 minutes Insane riding in just a short span of time!! Great job 👍 👍 👍
Well that was unreal! I have never seen anything like this before. How could the bike take all that? I mean he was just flying over rocks and roots... and the speed! Unreal!
I know nothing about mountainbiking, but can obviously tell this is very impressive. I think the biggest take away for me though, is how supportive the community seems. You couldnt go more than a few metres without someone screaming "Go Troy!". Awesome stuff! Maybe someone can tell me why there are people/marshals blowing a whistle as he approaches them?
Hard to believe someone was faster than that. You blew through some of those sections faster than i would consider humanly possible. Bikes have come a long way but wow, that's incredible. Almost flying over those rocks.
Damn, PoV really puts the high speed in perspective. Well done!
