The greatest band of all time
Am-uh glad-uh you’ve-uh finally-uh reacted-uh to the Fall-uh
RIP - Mark E. Smith. A unique character. Don't know a lot of their songs. I do know he had a wicked sense of humor. And real Fall fans are fanatical. We can always use more voices and ideas like his...
MORE MORE MORE!!!! Big New Prinz!!
I miss mark so damn much that i even watched your video.
Lol
One of the best Fall songs, also check High Tension Line and Blindness among others. Mark E Smith more of a poet than a singer. RIP
The Fall is one of the greatest bands to have ever existed. EDIT: "He didn't SOUND wired!" Oh, he was! He WAS wired.
Totally! for sure
Fantastic Life...fabulous lyrics
The Man Whose Head Expanded - Peel Session. You will not regret it.
SECONDED
Mark E! Man, I almost requested the Fall. So glad I got to see them several times before his passing. The track Glitter Freeze w/ Mark E/ Gorillaz is stellar. They were so productive, The Fall, so many great records.
More Fall please!!
Cruiser's Creek, Hit the North, Mr Pharmacist, all worth a listen. Listen alongside some of the poetry performances of John Cooper Clarke. Simon Wolsrencroft lived in the house behind me when we were growing up, two years above me at school, he was also in The Smith's for a while.
Mark E Smith’s mantra was repetition, repetition, repetition. How I Wrote Elastic Man is a good one, Container Drivers too.
the song that hooked me was "U.S. 80s 90s", which is sonically really interesting in addition to M.E.S.-obscure weirdness.
"If it's me and yer granny on bongos, it's the Fall." Mark E Smith
I saw Mark E Smith, in Manchester Airport just a year or two before he sadly, but not surprisingly passed away. He looked dead even then.
Had a Fall track lined up and ready to give to you guys, love this band!! Great choice 👏🏻👍🏻
Me too, Wonderboy.... I was torn between "Lay Of The Land" and "Cruiser's Creek"
Do "How I Wrote Elastic Man" or "City Hobgoblins" next
Some oddball part of me thinks "The Jawbone and the Air-Rifle" would sell Mark E. Smith's talents better to Chris, as he does actually sing more and there's more of his trademark weird-as-hell storytelling and it's legitimately super creepy but also very funny.
It is quintessential pop formula. Catchy riffs and totally The Fall.
It was said that everyone in Manchester had been in the Fall at some point! The line up changed almost from day to day, but as Mark E Smith said - if it’s me and yer mum on bongos, then it’s the Fall! 😂
No it wasn’t.
@@FredzDaddy I have seen The Fall many times over the years, and almost every time there was a different line up. But it was still The Fall because Mark E Smith was there.
Mark E Smith is a terrible singer but one of my favourite vocalists of all time, so many great tunes so many great albums its impossible to keep track love them so
Day off...seen a Fall review...just off to top up the wine & enjoy.
Welp, this is another group I was going to suggest, and in fact this was the song I was leaning toward. Yay! I have to disagree with Chris, I think he DOES sound totally wired. I'm also not sure I would classify this as punk rock, for me it leans more towards Krautrock with some garage a la Link Wray or The Cramps. Greg, Do you remember you reacted to Squid? I think there's a little Fall feel to them. Check out "Cruiser's Creek" for a bit more bombastic sound. I appreciate the reaction!
I love that you're doing The Fall. I don't know if you look at comments, but if you do, I have another amazing band from that time: Magazine I think you might like. Shot By Both Sides, Boredom, Philadelphia for a few if you do read this and do want to give them a try. Howard Devoto was with the Buzzcocks and Boredom was a Buzzcocks hit, but Magazine's version hits better.
Loving this band! Been a revelation for me these last couple of years.
Mark E Smith. the king of anti-cool
Shift... Work.
How I wrote Elastic Man
Can't ya see
1980 really blew him
Love The Fall, but honestly, Mark E. Smith is more interesting than the music. At least to me. There are some INSANE stories out there. My favorite, involving firing a man for dancing to Smoke on the Water.
Slates
Mark was into repetition, and generally hated musicians.
