I want to add that effects that untap Lucea will allow you to not only add more mana, but will cause her copy ability to stack. So then next X spell you cast will get copied once again. Add twinning staff and a single untap will net you four additional copies of a spell
Yup! Those provide even more ways to copy more spells. If you have something like Mana Reflection, Nyxbloom Ancient, etc. you could get infinite copy triggers thanks to equipping Lucea with something like Umbral Mantle.
i suggest you try also using prototype portal. imprint twinning staff, the portal creates two (or more if you can untap her!) twinning staffs for the price of one! every turn.
Thanks for Citanul flute is a great add! Note: Hydroid Krasis is a cast trigger. Im currently making this deck and was looking more for untappers over cloning her with the Sakashimas. Sevala heart of the wilds looks to be great with all of the beefy creatures.. Also with the march of swirling mist- you can phase out your opponents creatures for an opening.
Oh definite, Mist being used proactively as well as reactively is the kind of versatility that makes it so strong in a deck like this one - or any deck for that matter. Untapping Lucea is definitely a strong strat, especially since those kinds of cards are also cheaper on the secondary market than Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, etc. You could swap those out for Umbral Mantle, Pemmin's Aura, and Freed from the Real. With the mantle you could even do it infinitely many times if you had Mana Reflection or Nyxbloom Ancient since Lucea alone would be enough to pay for Umbral Mantle's untap ability.
Thanks! Glad you liked it! Yeah, which is why I mentioned putting those +1/+1 counters from her ability onto herself. So as long as you cast her in your precombat main phase that first time, put that counter on her first, making her be at least a 2/2.
Definitely! These cards are also super tame. It's not like I'm going to force anyone into an arm wrestling match or eye-staring contest. Or phoning a friend nor anything ridiculous like that.
WARNING this comment has basically turned into an essay... wasn't my original intention but here we are... In case anyone wanted more options, here are some cards I really like for this deck that weren't mentioned in the video: Stonecoil Serpent - really efficient and has lots of evasion Mistcutter Hydra - has HASTE and a little bit of evasion Savageborn Hydra - the double strike can kill people out of nowhere if it gets evasion from anything Wildwood Scourge - works really well in a deck with Hydras and Tyranids Voracious Hydra - It is a slightly worse Mawloc and a slightly worse Primordial Hydra in one Trampling Hydra. This card wins games either with haste with the double counters or with removing 2 key creatures on the board on ETB. Selvala, Heart of the Wilds - Lots of card draw and incredible amount of ramp... honestly perfect for the deck The Great Henge - this card just kinda does everything ramp, life gain, card draw, and 1/1 counters I definitely recommend cards that untap Magus like Thousand-Year Elixir, Patriar's Seal, and Magewright's Stone her ability can be stacked Also, if anyone likes the Evolve mechanic and wants to build around it, I definitely recommend Tyranid Prime, Gyre Sage, Fathom Mage, and the enchantments Elemental Bond, Garruk's Uprising, and Temur Ascendancy. Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner is especially good because it can both untap Magus and draw 2 times for each X spell creature For X card draw spells, I actually think that Finale of Revelation is a must-have Finale of Devastation, Chord of Calling and Green Sun's Zenith can find you combo's if you care for that, or you can just tutor Clamavus plus Winged Hive Tyrant/Herald of Secret Streams/Kodama of the West Tree and its GG. Speaking of Herald of Secret Streams and Kodama of the West Tree are so good for X creatures as they give evasion also Kodama ramps you for free Branching Evolution is perfect in this deck Gaea's Cradle - just makes a billion mana Mass Manipulation can be hilarious in this deck you can Insurrection everyone's creates/planeswalkers forever Big Mana Producers like Mana Geyser and Jeska's Will are really fun in this deck. I would add Mana Drain and Plasa Capture in this category as well, they can create a TON of mana. Definitely recommend Pest Infestation especially in this deck with the doubling with your commander you can clear everyone's artifacts and enchantments and have a pretty big board after If you like adding mini-games to your decks, you could add the tron lands Urza's Mine, Power Plant, and Tower and use cards like Nylea's Intervention, Scapeshift, and crop rotation etc. to get them into play. This deck can actually use the mana unlike most random Commander decks, so that could be cool. Another mini-game you could play is Helix Pinnacle... with 50 mana you win (could be even faster with untap shinanigans). Also, Simic Ascendancy is so easy to complete it's not even a mini-game Thank you if anyone read this far. I really like Magus Lucea Kane as a commander, as she basically does what I had wished Zaxara, my first commander, had done all along. It's a long story, but Zaxara's tokens enter as 0/0s and don't trigger Evolve, even though that's how people were building the deck when I first built the deck. I had to pull the deck apart because of this. Any way, here is my list for anyone who is interested. The main board has a couple extra cards I want but don't own yet, make some cuts as you see fit. The sideboard has all the cards I removed from the precon and the considering tab has a lot of cards from when this deck was a 4 color Zaxara secret commander deck (don't ask), so don't actually consider all of them... www.moxfield.com/decks/y_lbFkLvh0ecrzti2NhPpw
Wow! Awesome reply!! Thanks for taking the time to discuss in detail all of those cards that you run in your own deck! Glad you put the link for anyone interesting in seeing your build.
One small thing that won't matter to probably anyone watching this video, but Candelabra of Tawnos had an errata over a decade ago. Now, its oracle text is "{X},{T}: Untap {X} target lands." So it's not *as* busted as it seems from just reading it, but it's still ridiculously strong
I'm a fan of vivien's arkbow. And I have burn from within instead of Jaya's inferno. I'm sure jaya's is great but I happened to be playing someone that their creatures were indestructible, so burn from within really came in clutch
Those're all definitely great suggestions. That's the best thing about a commander like this one: there're so many cards that are amazing in it that one can go with what they really enjoy - busted or not - and still have an amazing deck afterwards.
I was running Magnus the Red and thought that Magus Lucia Kane might just be strictly better, but I'm putting him in the deck with some make X token spells.
That still works! Getting tokens is still great value. Especially with the new card, Awaken the Woods. Absolutely busted with Magus Lucea Kane. The amount of forest dryad tokens you create is insane. And then you can tap all of those new mana dorks / lands to further power up casting future X spells. So good!
Just built her and this is how it goes turn 1-4 ramp, ramp, ramp, ramp. Turn 5,6 cast 2 50/50 hydras and everyone takes 30 damage. Lol turn 6 board wipe, I start over again.
I want to point out: Magus Lucea Kanye’s “copy” ability does not require you to use the mana she produces for the spell/ability, just that you have tapped her for the mana. Minor difference but does allow flexibility if you need it.
Interesting... however, you're forced to always cast your X spells in accordance with how many counters Imminent Doom has in order to make the most of it. That might be restrictive more often than not, though.
I'm not necessarily sure that it's fair to say that lands that only produce colorless in a 3 color deck 'don't take up a slot', not making colored mana is quite the downside in that many colors
They don't take up a slot in the sense that they enter untapped. Plus, Yavimaya helps those lands tap for green. Granted, it's true that too many colorless lands in a 3-colored deck is bad, but as long as you're within a threshold you're fine. Plus, 9 fetchlands go a long way with color-fixing as well.
Good video, but i think you got a lil thing wrong, you do not have to use the mana created by her to copy the spell, it s jsut the next x spell or ability you go for the turn you activate her. but over all good video
Thanks! Glad you liked it! True, but if you're tapping her for CC and casting an X spell / paying for an X ability, you might as well sink that into the cost to help make it bigger.
I want to add that effects that untap Lucea will allow you to not only add more mana, but will cause her copy ability to stack. So then next X spell you cast will get copied once again. Add twinning staff and a single untap will net you four additional copies of a spell

This is very interesting,I just worry about a 1 toughness commander getting shot repeatedly. Very refreshing take on x spells though.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

OMG!! me acabo de enterar de tu UA-cam channel. Que emocion!! Estoy super orgulloso de ti
Those silver-boarded card options are certainly the reason for the round zero discussion!
Definitely! These cards are also super tame. It's not like I'm going to force anyone into an arm wrestling match or eye-staring contest. Or phoning a friend nor anything ridiculous like that.
Thanks so much for making this! So excited to try out this commander

seems like with wildwood hydra, you get so many counters due to other tyranids ETB after it. if it survives that long
@@taylorjohnson5148 True!
Man you are awesome great suggestions

It always did that; that's what being a mono artifact meant. You had to tap it to activate it. It was part of the rules tied to the mono super type.
Dude no way, I was literally just working on building this! Your timing is impeccable haha 😆 👍
Awesome! How fortuitous! Hope it was helpful 😁👍
I'm a fan of vivien's arkbow. And I have burn from within instead of Jaya's inferno. I'm sure jaya's is great but I happened to be playing someone that their creatures were indestructible, so burn from within really came in clutch
Oh and finale of revelation was fun. Double maximum handsize ayoo

Incubation Druid is great with Lucea, it plays her turn 3 and then on turn 4 you should have 9 mana.
Definitely! Thanks for mentioning it!

totally tame and fair silver-bordered cards? they look black border to me
I know, right? They look black-bordered to me too. But you'd be surprised how many people reject them from the getgo without even reading them.

Unless I'm missing something when you altered ego your commander one of them dies instantly. You can't have two of the same legendary creatures.
You can when you're controlling Sakashima of a Thousand Faces.
