    As much as I hated realising it, I strongly believe it was lucky:
    - Lucky was the only one strong enough to kill the Baron. The game shows you if you follow him that he can lift a rock that would take two regular men by himself with ease.
    - If you follow him after he goes fishing the game makes a point to show you lucky killing a fish by smashing its head into a rock. The blood stain on the wall in the chapet house resembles the blood left on the stone after lucky kills the fish, and NONE of the other possible murders explain where that stain came from, whilst it is entirely plausible lucky killed the baron by catching him off guard and smashing his head against the wall.
    - Lucky's thread puller note is the only one that matches the Baron's; Lucky's note reads "Remember the girl. One grave for two innocents. The red bird flies. Matins. Chapter." while the baron's note reads "The girl. The girl who died and the innocent with her. Matins. Chapter." Both these notes appear to be in reference to Lucky and Agnes Steinauer's first daughter, Beate, a young woman the Baron manipulated, seduced and then abandoned. Beate became pregnant with the Baron's child, and died trying to terminate her pregnancy with a broken heart. The grave by the mine is Beate's and it reads "Two Innocents". Beate is not buried in the town cemetary because the church ruled her death a suicide, and Catholic clerical law dictates that suicide victims can not be buried in hallowed ground. Agnes makes it clear that the Steinauers hold the Baron responsible for the death of Beate and her unborn child, and Beate's lack of proper burial due to the Baron abandoning Beate and refusing to acknowledge he even knew her.
    - Lucky is the only one who WILLINGLY accepts his death and doesn't plead his innocence to the end; Ferenc and Matilda struggle, in their own ways, out of raw fear - neither accept their fate, Matilda commends her spirit to the lord not out of acceptance but in hope of salvation, Ferenc doesn't even do that, and both plead that they were innocent until the moment of execution. Ottila accepts her fate, but not willingly - she accepts her death not because she believes she has committed a crime, but because she believes tassing wishes her dead, and it implies that she knows she is innocent of the crime, but has been accused anyway because she is the most convenient death. But Lucky? He doesn't claim innocence, he doesn't blame others, he insults no one, and utters not a single word until he hands his soul into God's judgement, and to me those are the actions of a man who knows he is guilty, but believes his actions were justified, and has made peace in that.
    - Lucky, unlike Ottila, has business in the monastery - he's the stone mason he works in the monastery as much as in the town, but Ottila has no reason to venture up there, and I doubt she even knows where the chapter house is.
    While the game has most of the face level evidence levied against Ferenc, it doesn't add up. Matilda and Ottila just don't make sense; murder isn't in Matilda's heart and Ottila isn't strong enough to kill a man in a single swift blow. Lucky can kill a man in one blow, with his bare hands, and is the only one the game actually shows you is physically strong enough to kill the Baron. This realisation broke my heart, and I debated blaming Ottila purely for Agnes' sake, but that felt wrong to me.

      I haven't yet dare to acuse Lucky for his deed, even though his culpability is clear. Ferenc is the only one who's not sympathetic enough to the players, plus he is de first one to be investigated (even before the murder) and so is most likely to be accused of the crime. And still, the developers made sure we'd feel absolute guilt out of this decission.

      Actually, there were two hits, so it does not match with the fact, that Lucky is the strongest man.
      So one of the sisters (the blind one) smelled smoke and some incense, which could be the part of the Ferenc rituals.
      I strongly believe it is Ferenc, because he has the strongest motivation in the PRESENT to make such impulsive killing.

    If I had to guess it’s none of the people you can accuse however I believe the one who killed the Baron is Wojack because he knew what the Baron did to Matilda, he has an easy place to store evidence in the kitchen, he had access to the same shovel that Matilda did but she thinks it has rabbits on it but I think Wojack used it on the Baron, and then he starts realizing that the evidence points to Matilda so he goes to tell you that the people arrive early and he wants you to be careful with what information you tell them (specifically about what you say about Matilda)

      Lucky is most likely the true murderer considering the evidence.
      He is very strong, knows things about the monastery (such as the cypt entrance) and you can see him bludgeoning fish against a rock. Similar to how Lorenz was bludgeoned.
      Ottilia is too weak
      Matilda is traumatized by her rape and is afraid of lorenz. She also lacks strength.
      There is a lot of evidence for Ferrenc, but Smokey (in the woods) tells you that he saw him doing a blood ritual, so the blood on the occult tools is not Lorenz's.

He had the least likely motive, but he did the most suspicious things, up to the point of the murder, and after. His death scene didn't make me wish I could reconsider, I just thought that he was scared that he was found guilty of what he did. Idk. Just what I think. Ottilta did also have a great motive, but I don't think she would have been capable of killing a perfectly healthy human being.

    The murderer is Mr. Lucky. He know the secret entrances to enter and exit the church. He lost his daughter because she was pregnant by the Baron. He is strog enough to lift a rock and had violent tendencies (repressed anger, it can be seen when she kills the fish), there is blood on the wall of the church, the baron was hit hard against a wall and Baron skull shattered... An attack from behind does not leave that clue. Then Lucky fled using secret passageways to the village. End.

    • @doyltruddy902
      @doyltruddy902 Рік тому +6

      the autopsy of the baron reveals he was killed with a blunt object striking his head, the patterns on his skull suggest something thin like a rod. I never found any weapon that Lucky could have used to murder him, everyone says he bashed his head on the wall but that would leave a different type of injury. The only possible weapons we find are a shovel and the occult rod that Ferenc hid in the grave.

    I had to choose Ottila. After all, she was slowly becoming infirm and would die soon anyway, whereas Lucky, Matilda and Ferenc have lives ahead of them and each of them can make contribution to the lives of their respective communities. Why let the old woman live her already miserable life and perhaps condemning her to die even more gruesomly, incapable and demented with no one around to care for her and only with the bitter memories of her husband's unjust death?

    • @jbeast3385
      @jbeast3385 Рік тому +25

      I think with the benefit of hindsight, Otilla seems the most prudent to scapegoat, but she’s also the suspect who I think would be least likely to do it. She’s older, vocally hates the Church, and outright despises the Baron. She’s got every motive and she says so herself, but I doubt even under the best circumstances that she could kill the Baron, especially since it’s implied there was a struggle involved. To me, I couldn’t choose her because I truly don’t believe she could do it.
      I think the game’s very deliberate about how the justice system is flawed, and with how often you lack any solid evidence in game, your role comes down to playing kingmaker instead of judicator. This weighs on Andreas heavily, and his dreams imply that the reality of the situation goes against his natural ideals.

      The thing is that from the perspective of the game, its really easy to sterotype the suspects.
      From an medieval view its either the witch, the heretic, the sinnfull nun (wich is really fucked up btw.) or the local craftsman.
      Since the first three suspects are so easy to frame, I personally just think that its was Lucky... Again all others have very obviouse murder weapons but they all kinda dont make sense when thinking about it. Why would the nun not even wash the blood of the shovel? Why would the monk perform the heal ritual and then straight up kill the baron with the same equipment? Why would the old Lady just let the stick with which she killed the Baron lie around in her house?
      Meanwhile Lucky has no obviouse murder weapon (as far as i know), which means he would be the only one actually putting effort in hiding the murder. he probably just used some tool from his Workshop and then cleaned it afterwards.

      As opposed to TV shows and movies, decapitation is almost impossible with an axe, and even more impossible with a sword in a clean way. Usually it took multiple swings to work the head loose. Not a great way of dying I imagine, though certainly better than being burned alive as a witch would be.
