As someone just getting into the game who is both a little overwhelmed but very much enjoying all the options and build choices in this game. This video was a great help. Thank you! Keep up the great content! :)
Great video - I've passed this onto my local club where new players are just getting involved with the game. I agree with everything you've said and especially the bow aspect, it's not 40k and at the end of the day, the archer is a swordsman who can shoot! I see a lot of new players forget they are melee combatants, even better if they're elves.
Great video jacob! I'm actually going to my first MESBG event in the form of a double tourney with a friend of mine. We are rocking a princes of Gondor Themed list, myself taking Faramir and he is taking Imrahil, sporting 400pts each. List is as follows on my end. | Total Points: 399 | Total Units: 23 | 50%: 12 | 25%: 5 | Bows: 5 | Alliance Level: Historical ---------------------------------------- Warband 1 (250 points) Faramir (100 points) - Horse - Heavy Armour - Shield 3x Knight of Minas Tirith (42 points) - Shield 4x Warrior of Minas Tirith (32 points) - Shield 4x Guard of the Fountain Court (44 points) - Shield 1x Warrior of Minas Tirith (32 points) - Banner ---------------------------------------- Warband 2 (106 points) Madril (55 points) 3x Ranger of Gondor (27 points) - Spear 3x Warrior of Minas Tirith (24 points) - Shield ---------------------------------------- Warband 3 (43 points) Damrod (25 points) 2x Ranger of Gondor (18 points) - Spear ---------------------------------------- He is rocking another 400 pts with Imrahil mounted with lance, Forlong with lance mounted, and around 17 soldiers mixed with men at arms, clansman and axemen, as well as a single mounted knight. Gameplan will be to use our mobility to hit flanks with the cav pieces, and use the war horn + army bonus to reliably hold objectives with my rangers.
This looks like an awesome and classic list! I think you have the right composition and its awesomely thematic! I I wouldn't be afraid of sneaking in two more rangers to max out your shooting but it's not required. This list hits a lot of the citeria well. I like the 3 knights for the mobility and faramir has plenty of will for magic resistance.
Barad-dur sweating more and more as each point is made. The most putting your eggs in one basket you can get. A supporting Ringwraith, more than a few trackers on Wargs and as much of an army of orc warriors as you can muster is the best I can do to even get close to the hitting power/range list building ideals there. Dont know that there is any new wisdom to be found here, but I always like hearing how people try to use the big man.
Love your work mate! Keep smashing out that amazing terrain! Here’s my tinkering list for 800 point competitive tournament: Yellow Alliance between White Council, Fellowship and Minas Tirith. Saruman the white on horse. Boromir of Gondor on horse. Denethor 2 citadel guard w bows 5 fountain court w shields Warrior of Minas Tirith w banner, shield and spear 6 x Warrior of Minas Tirith w shield Hurin on horse 5 knights w shield Madril 7 rangers of Gondor w spears 5 Warriors of Minas Tirith w shield 9 bows, 36 total models, 15 might. Curious to see what you think!
Thanks for the comment! Interesting list, First off I always like to play thematic lists and would always encourage everyone to do the same. To make this one thematic but have a similar vibe you could drop Saruman and Boromir for Gandalf the White and Ingold. This would make it a Siege of Minas Tirith theme which would be awesome. Gandalf the White is super expensive but he adds a lot to the list. Particularly Banishment for dealing with Ringwraiths, Your Staff is broken for dealing with other wizards, Blinding light for shooting armies, and Immobilize for dealing with enemy heroes. Usually you will struggle to get 240 points worth out of him but he counters almost everything so in every game no matter the opponent he will be good. This will also keep your army bonus which is actually very important. Madril isn't my favorite of the Minas Tirith Heroes. You already have Cavalry so your movement is covered. I really like Cirion for a cheap striker, Ingold for holding your line, or a knight of the white tower who is terrifying when paired with a wizard. The army list is slightly low on numbers so you could drop a hero to fill them up as well.

Hi Jacob, love the content as always! I’m building towards a 700 point Mirkwood list and this is where I’m at so far - Mirkwood Thranduil - extra sword, circlet, heavy armour, bow- 170 4 armoured elves with swords & shields - 40 4 armoured elves with bows, swords & shields - 48 4 armoured elves with glaives - 44 2 mirkwood cavalry with shields 34 1 armoured elf with sword, shield and banner 35 Legolas - elven cloak - 100 3 mirkwood rangers - 42 Palace guard captain with shield - 80 points 3 palace guard with spears & shield - 42 3 palace guard with sword and shield 39 Would be grateful for any feedback you might have for it! Keep up the good work 😄
Thanks for the comment, its no surprise to see the army is low model count when you have a lot of awesome heroes and 14 point troops. This army follows a lot of the rules of army list building. You hitting power is great with fight 6 +1 to wound troops with a fight 7 captain and Thranduil, Maneuverability is not great but totally fine. Your numbers are low but not problematically. Your magic and courage is great with the circlet. Overall I think this is a really solid list. One change that I would make is putting the bows on the elves with Glaives rather than shields. If you are equipped with a bow and a shield you will not receive the +1 Defense. I would also move all the palace guard into Thranduil's warband. You always want them close to him so you may as well have him lead them. This way in Maelstrom they will never be separated.
Very well, here are two lists I am currently painting for potential competitive play :) Azogs Legion (800 Points) Azog with White Warg + Heavy Armour + Signal Tower Gundabad Troll with Scythe Gauntlets 2 Ogres 9 Gundabad Berserkers The Kingdom of Khazad-Dum (800 Points) Dwarf King 4 Dwarf Rangers with Dwarf Longbows and Throwing Weapons 2 Dwarf Warriors with Shields 1 Dwarf Warrior with Shield and Banner 4 Vault Warden Teams Floi Stonehand 8 Dwarf Rangers with Dwarf Longbows and Throwing Weapons King's Champion 2 Dwarf Warriors with Shields 4 Vault Warden Teams 2 Dwarf Ballistas
Thanks for the comment. I absolutley love your Azogs Legion army! I can't say that I think it will be competitive but it will be a lot of fun to play! I personally prefer the crushing club. Mainly becuase I like the model but also I find the ability to one shot heroes better than the +1 to wound when I am already wounding on 3's most of the time. With the good list I thought that you could only take Floi if you took Balin but I was mistaken! Having 8 Vault warden teams is awesome and if you don't use balin the theme can be the final defense of Balin's Tomb. That being said I think that Balin is worth the upgrade over the Dwarf King. I think that 2 Balistas may be excessive especially because you are already really good at shooting. With the saved points you could add a group of Iron Guard into Floi's warband or take a shield bearer to solve all your courage troubles and get a free heroic combat. I would drop the banner out of the king's warband. I love banners but 3 is excessive. I would just have one stay with the kings champion and one go join the king. Your weakness as always will be your mobility so you will need to plan ahead to reach the objectives.
Hi Jacob, Love that you are putting in the time to answer our lists :) list building can be so tricky so having someone with your skills and expertise reviewing them is such a great tool to people like us. Here is a cool list I wrote a while ago. It was written pre-dragon emeror nerf though, so let me know how you think it’ll go post nerf. I’d love to know how it competes against a hero heavy army of thror list, I just worry my S3 can’t quite crack through. TLDR here is the list 😂: Dragon emperor Black Dragon Kataphrakt w/drums 10 Dragon Cult Acolytes Rutabi Easterling Captain w/shield 10 Dragon Cult Acolytes Eastering captain w/bow and armoured horse Soo keen to hear your feedback! I’ve taken this list to a few tournaments with pretty good results, but having another perspective will be so cool! Love Jordy ❤
Interesting list Jordy, that sure looks expensive to buy from Forgeworld I hope you have a kidney to sell. I reckon the Easterling captian is over rated I would drop them both. If you are a really good player you should be able to go 120 points down and still win.
As an easterling too, i won't give a bow to anycaptain. An to me, a full dragon cult acolyt army seems fun, but it misses the strongest point of the easterling army, which is its very strong combat line, with warriors and shields backed up with black dragon spearmen. However, when i pick dragon cults, i take a lot of them too. Maybe ill keep 10 of them and change the other warband to a "classic" easterling one as i described before. I'll remove the captain on foot to strenghten my "classic" line, a bit more models could help. Or take a couple kataphracts more to get objectives.
Thank you again Jacob for looking over my list for me I found your advice helpful my friend has a list she would like your opinion on if that’s okay with you to look at she doesn’t have the means to do it right now so I’m sending it on her behalf First Warband: Elrond, Master of Rivendell with Heavy Armour and Horse - 190 points • Rivendell Knight with Banner - 46 points • 7 Rivendell Knights with Shields - 154 points • 3 High Elf Warriors with Shields and Spears - 33 points Second Warband: Arwen Undómiel with Asfaloth and Elven Cloak - 85 points • 2 Rivendell Knights with Shields - 44 points • 4 High Elf Warriors with Shields - 40 points Third Warband: Elladan and Elrohir with Horses, Elf Bows, and Elven Cloaks - 200 points • 8 High Elf Warriors with Elf Bows - 88 points Fourth Warband: Círdan - 80 points • 4 High Elf Warriors with Spears - 40 points ------------------ Total model count: 34 Breaking point: 17 models Quartering point: 8 models 20 bows (army bonus) 8 might Total points: 1000
Thanks for the comment. The first thing that I would check is that you aren't above the bow limit. The Rivendell knights do not count towards your bow limit at all. Which means that of the 19 non Rivendell knight warriors only 1/3rd of them can have bows which means only 7 rather than 8. You have your might written down as 8 but remember there are two of the twins which means you actually have 11. It's an interesting composition because you have a lot of Cavalry and i would be worried that the rest of the army will get left behind. One option would be do drop the warriors and cirdan and move into a pure knight list. The other option would be do decrease your cavalry and go to a combined armed list. By going down to 4 Rivendell knights and dropping the twins off their horses you could get 10 more High Elf warriors and the twins in your battle line while the cavalry goes after the flanks. At the moment the list is stuck in the middle and I am worried that it will suffer because of that.
I’m playing at adepticon this year, playing Riders of Theoden with all heroes except Derowine. More emphasis on riders rather than royal guard, but I still got 5 guard on the list. Wish me luck!
Great video Jacob 👌 thanks 🙏 I have too much armies so I won't bother you with all of them 🤣 but my favorite is the Return of the King Legendary Legion. I don't understand why it ranks so badly in "longshanks". Actually, it's the army that have me more victories 😅
Thanks for the comment! I reckon because its easy to get the models that lots of people bring it as their first army. Its also lacking high fight value and is low on numbers which doesn't help
Hi I am a new member in this hobby and I try to start Iron hills Dain on pig/foot 1captain on foot 4 goat rider(with foot as well) 12spearman 5hammer man 5bow man 1 ballist with its captain and 2 loader
@ConquestCreations Would you consider a batrep series of taking powerful tournament winning lists and discussing counterplay and showing the more specific things that come up and how to try to beat them? A "how to deal with" series Take a standard wellbalanced but powerful list and show them against different list builds how to deal with swarms, all hero, smaug, magic heavy, all cav? Give newer players an idea of mitigating their weaknesses Thanks for your thoughts and hoping for a kingdom of tinas mirith terrain set to happen eventually
This is a great list to start on Lothlorien are solid at everything. There are two changes that I would make. Firstly I would swap the captain for one of Haldir's brothers. I would recomend Rumil. He is really good at countering big heroes, or monsters. Secondly I would drop a few models to take 1 or two Galadhrim knights this will give you a bit more mobility and allow you to attack objectives better.
800p Numenor + Lothlorien that has almost everything covered. Elendil on horse -18 Numenoreans (9 shield, 4 spear&shield, 4 spear&bow, 1 banner&spear&shield) Numenor Captain with horse and lance -1 warrior with bow Galadriel (Leader) -11 warriors (8 shield, 3 spear&bow) -1 knight with bow&shield -4 court guard -2 wood elves with bow 40 models total, 11 bows. Average numbers, average Might and a bit lackluster mobility but that's about it imo. Numenoreans can be fragile.
Thanks for the comment. This one does have almost everything covered. You have good numbers so I would drop them slightly to take 2 wood elf sentinels. These guys will 100% make the list. By drawing models out of battle lines you can set up massive heroic combats with Elendil. If you are worried about fragile Numenorians I would have them taking more spears and have the elves in the front line and the numenorians behind them. They have higher courage so can more easily charge terror and they have higher defence so will survive longer. If you are in a fight where you feel confident you can win you also have the option to 2 hand with the elves and against other fight 5 models you will get the elven blades.
Dalamyr(leader): 7xBlack numenoreans 7xCorsairs with Spear and shield 4xArbalesters Delgamar: 5xCorsairs with shield 5xCorsairs with shield and spear 5xArbalesters Bosun with shield: 6xReavers 6xCorsairs with bow and spear Suladan on horse: 4xHaradrim with bow 1xHaradrim with spear 2xSerpent riders Might:9 Numbers:56 Crossbow: 9 Bows:10
Thanks for the comment. This list is similar to the list that came second at the world championships. The only thing I am not convinced on is the Black Numenorians. All of your Corsairs have throwing weapons that they can use on the charge and these black Numenorians will just get in their way. Also sometimes its super helpful to be able to kill your own models. For example if one of my corsairs charges into Elendil on Horse then I can shoot all my other Corsairs into that combat and kill my own model denying a heroic combat. You have great numbers and shooting. In your magic defense you are lacking because Suladan can be targeted so just keep that in mind when you are playing
I've just finished making/painting my Mirkwood rangers LL list for a game today 693 points: Legolas w.10 ranger and 1 sentinel Tauriel w. 10 ranger and 1 sentinel Ranger captain w. 7 ranger Not expecting to win but the models are beautiful and I love the high risk high rewards of high fight low defense combat, especially with the knife fighters rule. Would love to see more battle reports involving them!
Thanks for the comment. The models are great so its great to see them get shown off. If you wanted to make it stronger I wouldn't be afraid to include a few more sentinels. They would decrease your numbers but the less models that you have the better your Knife Fighting rule will become!
Hi thanks for the comment. I would make sure you have the points in there to take shields on all of your Morranons and most of your orcs. You also want to make sure you have plenty of spears around. The model count is high so by dropping a few you will still be fine. 100% always take 3 fate on the Witch King and 2 fate on the unnamed wraith. It will always be worth trading 1 will for a fate. Usually I really like Kardush but he doesn't have the best synergy in this list. His Fury impacts orcs and you have a lot of non orc models that won't be impacted. You also should already be good with courage from the terror on the Black Nums and the +1 courage for troops from the army bonus. I would consider swapping him for another hero, Zagdush would be a good pick. I am not the biggest fan of the unnamed wraiths mainly because their function will just be casting trasfixes around which the Witch King will be better at anyway. They do give you redundancy but because the Witch King is already there you have diminishing returns on the doubled up Harbinger of Evil. If you are keen on keeping the multiple casters I think the Mouth of Sauron would be better. He can still fill the magic role but can actually kill stuff as well.
Thanks for the great videos! I'm returning to the game and so far I've lost four and won 1 game this year. I've used slight variations to this list, but I wondered what you thought about this for a 500pt league. Thanks! 500pts Gondor- 499 points | 23 models Minas Tirith Boromir, Captain of the White Tower: (330) 1x Shield (5) 5x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield (40) 1x The Banner of Minas Tirith (40) 5x Guard of the Fountain Court: Shield (55) 5x Ranger of Gondor: Spear (45) Gondor Avenger Bolt Thrower: (50) Captain of Minas Tirith: (104) 1x Lance (5) 1x Horse (10) 3x Knight of Minas Tirith (39)
Thanks for the comment! Looks like a fun and classic list. Its got a great starting point. Taking Boromirr on foot with the banner is an interesting choice. On Horse he hits a lot harder and you always have the option to dismount if you want. His banner is better the more troops you have around him so I think he gets better at higher points. I would also swap the captain of Minas Tirith for a named character. I am a big fan of Cirion or Ingold. This will get you more might and it means you can move the horse of Borromir
Very interesting video :) I'll try to take the tipps in account for my next tournament. My last easterling 700 pts list ( legendary legions werent allowed) : Dragon emperor Black dragon kataphract drummer 5 black dragons with shields and pike 4 easterlings with spears and shields 4 easterlings with shields Brorgir 3 black dragons pike and shilds 3 easterlings pike and shields 3 easterlings with shields 1 easterling with a bow Rutabi 2 black dragons with pike and shields 2 easterlings with pike and shields 2 easterlings with shields 1 easterling with a bow
Thanks for the comment! Easterlings are so good because they tick all the boxes really well. In this list I would drop your numbers slightly to get 1 or 2 mor cataphracts and I would swap some guys to get a few dragon acolytes. If you are playing with the right amount of terrain these guys can be super helpful.
Great video, certainly some for for thought there. Would you mind taking a look at this list I'm running in 600 point games at the moment. I'm not sure if the second bar swarm is correct but i feel like i hit a fair few of the points you mention. Razgush 1 bat swarm 3 fell warg 3 giant spider 3 mirkwood spider 1 orc warrior, banner, shield 4 orc trackers The spider queen 1 bat swarm 3 fell warg 2 giant spider 2 mirkwood spider
Hitting power- both Razgush and SQ are pretty heavy hitters and the Spiders all have 2 attacks each. A banner helps with this too. Manoeuvrability - Spiders and fell wargs are very agile and difficult to pin down. High speed and elusive troops is great for picking off objectives and characters. However, the large base size can cause issues if I'm not careful. Numbers- low, only 25 at 600 points is below the magic 20ppm level. Tempted to cut a bat swarm for a few more orcs to help this. Might- 6- on the low end of acceptable. As an alternative to cutting a swarm for more orcs, could instead look at an orc captain, but would require more cuts elsewhere. Magic- the spider's shooty Web thing fills in nicely as hero control. Shooting- 4 trackers fills a gap, but not great. That said, it's never going to be. Courage - low and no real way of negating it Redundancy- kind of... there's no one thing this army relies on super heavily, apart from maybe the 2 heroes.
I think elves are going to be a tough match up for this list. Str 3 bows are going to hurt and a good few elves have access to terror. I'd try my best to get more orcs in there for numbers plus they get the hatred elf from raggy if I remember.
This is a cool list, its super spider heavy! The whole army is very fragile but has great movement speed. One concern that I would have is Razgush and the orcs getting left behind by how fast everything else is. I really love bat swarms and rate them as the best troop in the game and having 2 is nice redundancy especially because they are easily targeted by things like sentinels and compels. It does also leave the risk that if your opponent has a good unit to assassinate a bat swarm now they have twice as many to target and kill. Its a dilema even as I am writing this I have changed my mind multiple times on if 2 is the right choice. If you want higher risk and high reward go with 2 but if you want more stability drop one of them for 6 orcs. In this list I would also consider dropping the fell wargs for more orcs. The spiders and wargs have such large bases that its hard to engage them all at once. The roll that the wargs are filling is already comfortably covered by other aspects of the army. I would swap all of them for orcs. You might run into some warband capacity issues so you could squeeze another spider in if that was an issue. One option if you don't want more orcs is to just play pure Dark Denizens of Mirkwood
Good points. No list from me, but I'm going to read the feedback on other peoples lists and learn from that. Locally we like to play some games without any named heroes and that is an entirely different meta. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the comment mate! Super strange to play without named heroes, to me they are the most fun, thematic, and exciting part of the game but its cool that everyone plays differently
True, they are the most thematic part of the game. But they also tend to dominate the field. Sometime we just want to practice the basics using just the normal warriors (trapping, special strikes, etc). No-name games are good for that. To each their own :)@@ConquestCreations
Here's an idea for an enraged beast list for Moria, I would love some feedback. Leader is Durburz, 4 warriors with shield, 5 warriors with bow, 4 with shield, and 2 prowlers Druzhag: 5 fell wargs, 2 bat swarms, 2 prowlers, 3 warriors with bow. Ashrak: 3 warriors with shield, 3 with spear, 5 giant spiders Groblog: Moria drum, 2 drummers, 1 prowler, 700 points, 46 models, 23 models break point, and 11 models to quarter. 8 bows and 9 might. The idea is to use enrage beast on the spiders as assassins. Ashrak can use shroud of shadows that will allow a spider to move through friendly and enemy units to get into position for taking out priority targets. The rest is a well rounded goblin force to tie up fights and swarm enemies for traps.
As LeonK said this list would suit better if you swapped it into Assult on Lothlorien. It would change up the list a bit but it keeps the Enrage beast theme just stronger. If you want to keep it in pure moria then I wouldn't take the drum. It only impacts the goblins and you have a heap of monsters so you aren't getting great value out of it. I would swap it for a cave troll becuase when combined with the batswarms you will out fight everything in the game!
I like the list. I'd consider if anything swapping around some models in warbands. Ap couple uruk pikes in Gorulf or Oathmakers warbands to spread the S4F4 and then swap orc spears into Sarumans to back up the S4F4 uruks with cheaper supports. Plus saruman gives great stand fast anyway. Then split out Xbows. If im not running a main block with vrasku i like having the option to leave 1 or 2 in random places near objectives instead of needing to deploy with the main line.
@@kevinnobacon1126 thanks man! I appreciate the feedback. I might split the models up a bit, so that im more flexible with the bows and can cover more boardspace with F4S4. Thanks for the advice!
Thanks for the comment! I like how you have put the list together and its very solid. To disagree with Kevin I like how your warbands are. I really like having all the Maurauder bows in one warband becuase then they can all work together and get around the flanks and keeping the Uruks together makes sense so you can use the pikes more creatively. The biggest thing I would change is I would bring Grima, he is so incredibly powerful for only 25 points. If you are already getting Saruaman any way he will always be worth it
Looking at a more thematic list! Just curious to see how well you think it may do! Honestly just wanted to run a full three hunters list to see how it holds up (not seriously competitive) Return of the king: Aragorn 6 x warrior of the dead w/ spear & shield Gimli 2 x warrior w/ spear & shield King of the dead 7 x warrior w/ spear & shield 2 x rider of the dead Legolas 2 x warrior w/ shield 798 point total
Nice army. I like taking all 3 hunters! This list will struggle because the warriors are such low fight and you have low numbers. You just want to make sure you are just using them to set up your heroes to do all the work. make sure you play the objective and use the scenery. If you can set up in a good choke point and have your frontline of all heroes you should be able to put out a heap of damge!
List i'm thinking of running (900 points): White council: Elrond (heavy armor, horse) Glorfindel (armor of gondolin, asfaloth) Gandalf the grey (horse) Radagast the brown (horse, sebastian) Rivendell: Lindir of Rivendell (heavy armor, horse) 5 Rivendell knights ( 5 shields) The goal is to knock everything prone (wrath of the bruinen, natures wrath, sorcererous blast), prevent disadvantageous charges and shooting (blinding light, aura of dismay) and just steamroll everything with cavalry charges from the big heroes and Rivendell knights.
Thanks for the comment! Nice army list this has an insane amount of resources, hitting power, magic, and maneuverability at the cost of super low numbers. It's tough to suggest anything to change because almost everything will have the same vibe but different preferences. If I was going to be playing this list I would drop Glorfindel to upgrade Radagast to have the Sleigh, get a banner, and get a few more knights in. The banner is huge and I think its a must in this army. The sleigh is great becuase it gives Raddagast a larger base so that the Aura of Dismay and Natures Wrath have much larger effects. It also gives him a tonne of hitting power. Glorfindel doesn't add anything to your list that Elrond isn't already covering and having more Knights will probably hit harder than him anyway.
Thanks for the comment, you are correct, at 11:49 I mentioned that it does have march Page 8 - Thorin’s Company - Army Bonus Add the following sentence to the end of the Army Bonus: Additionally, all models from this Army List gain Heroic March.
@@ConquestCreationsah so you do, I misheard. I thought you said it doesn't have march. That is my bad. I have a bit of a hearing condition and as much as I love your videos,.I do sometimes struggle to hear dialogue.
Great video! At my first 650 pt Tournament I played something like this (numbers might be off): Imrahil (horse+lance) 5 Mounted Knights w lance Forlong on horse 4? Footknights 8? Men at arms Cpt. of Dol Amroth 6 Blackrootvale Archers some spears 1 Banner. I brutally cut through a Khazad Dum List, than got absolutle slaughtered by Thranduils Halls getting my horses shot after i charged by legolas and finally lost all my Cavalry on turn two due to poor Dice against a Morannon spam.
Thanks for the comment. This is a solid list. I reckon the only changes that I would to is dropping the captain for Angborn the fearless. He gets extra might and solves all your courage problems and can be another hitter with strike. Its hard to justify taking another banner for 25 points. I know it gets you vps in some scenarios but its very redundant with Imrahil around
Hey Jacob, really helpful vid, curious to get your thoughts on my easterling list Host of the Dragon Emp (unsurprisingly) 750pts Dragon Emperor - 4x Black Dragons with sword and shield - 14x Black Dragons with pike and shield Rutabi - 6x Dragon Cult Acolytes Dragon Knight on Horse - 2x Black Dragon Kataphrakt - 1x Black Dragon Kataphrakt with wardrum This leaves me with about 80 pts left and i'm torn with what to finish the list with. The three options i was toying with is just filling it with more warriors, maybe 4 bows + 4 pikes, but this only leaves me on 8 might. Other options are to add another hero like an easterling captain plus a few bows, which gives me some shooting, or just add Brorgir which would give me some magic but would only leave me on 31 models. Wondering which one you would go with, or if there's another option which i've completely missed?
Great video! I'd love some feedback on this Lothlorien/Fellowship list I've been thinking about doing: 600 points | 27 models Lothlorien, The Fellowship
It's a very solid army that covers almost every base. The only difference that I would make is to include 2 Galdhrim knights to be that extra mobility and accompany Boromir. At 600 points with this build I am not convinced that you need both Sentinels so I would consider dropping one of them to get the points that you need
Great video! Wondering for any of your thoughts on this 500 point Mordor List I’m building for a Good Vs Evil tournament Army Leader The Mouth of Sauron w/ Armoured Horse 5 Black Numenorians 1 Black Numenorian w/ war horn 4 Morannon Orcs w/ spear 1 Morannon Orc w/ spear shield banner Ringwraith w/ horse +1 might +1 will +2 fate 5 Black Numenorians 5 Morannon orcs w/ spear shield Shelob
Great video with great points! I have an 800 pts Minas Tirith list for comment/input, which I'm taking to a tournament this weekend. 1st Warband Boromir, Captain of the White Tower (armed with the banner of Minas Tirith) 15 Warriors of Minas Tirith (6 armed with shields, 8 with shields and spears, & 1 with a War Horn) 2nd Warband Faramir, Captain of Gondor (armed with heavy armour & on a horse) 7 Knights of Minas Tirith (1 with a banner) 7 Osgiliath Veterans (3 with spears, 3 with shields, & 1 with a bow) 3rd Warband Mandril, Captain of Ithilien 8 Rangers of Gondor (just with bows) 4th Warband Avenger Bolt Thrower (no upgrades) Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks
Thanks for the army list! Its a very solid start. There are a few changes that I would make. - Firstly I would give borromir his shield and I would give Faramir a lance and shield as well. This will make them a bit more durable and help Faramir hit harder. - I would then move the Osgiliath Veterans into Borromir's warband and some of the warriors into Faramir's. The Veterans only get their bonus if they are close to one of the brothers so you want them in the battle line with Borromir. This means that they will be fight 5 if they are within 3" of Borrmir which is massive. - In your army list the War Horn probably isn't necessary. You already have the veterans who have good courage and the army bonus which already gives you +1 courage. I would drop the warhorn to add a few more rangers of Gondor with spear into Madril's warband Overall its a great list with a lot of potential!
I have not won a single battle with other lists (other than when my opponent failed to turn up). I am thinking of using this list for a competition. The army is of a maximum of 650 pts, minimum of 5 figures and must be in 2 warbands; I think it only fulfils two of your criteria. 1st warband: Theoden (Armoured horse; heavy armour; shield) 100; Eomer (Armoured horse; shield; throwing spears) 125; Theodred (Horse; shield; throwing spears). 100; Eowyn (Horse;armour; shield; throwing spears). 65; Gamling (Horse; Royal Standard of Rohan). 115 = 505 2nd warband Grimbold of Grimslade. 60; Banner 25; 5 Helmingas. 55=140. Total 645 pts
With this list that is very hero heavy I would swap it into the Riders of Theoden Legendary legion. It will change your compsition quite a lot but play similarly but better. You would drop Theodred, and Grimbold whole warband in exchange for some royal guard mounted with throwing spears
What do you think about these two lists. First Erebor Reclaimed Thorin with ocrist -13 iron hills with spears -1 iron hill with banner Dwalin Dain ironfoot with boar -3 goats with spears -6 iron hills with bows 725 points 26 models 9 might Second list: Iron Hills allied with Thror Dain Ironfoot with boar -1 iron hills banner -12 iron hills Spear Iron hills Captain -6 iron hills with bows -3 goat riders with Spear Iron hills ballista with superior construction and 4 crew Thror -15 grim hammers as Guardians of the king 1000 points, 44 models, 9 might
Hey Noah Saw your message on mine you said you dont have the models for goat heroes which sucks because getting the cav charge bonus and the extra movement makes a huge difference Id really encourage proxying them a few games just to see how much difference it makes on the board and although costly to make are really worth it in my opinion
@seanleary7739 oh they totally seem worth it and I appreciate the comment! Where did you get yours from as I can't really seem to find them on the GW store?
Had to saw 2 goat riders at the waist and then cut Thorin and dwalins legs off and greenstuff together There are some good tutorials online ( i used the plastic company ones which was way cheaper)
Thanks for the comment! Bother of these lists are solid. I do agree that doing the conversions to mount Dwalin and Throin will be 100% worth while. In the second army I am a massive fan of Thror so I am glad to see you using him! I would recomend dropping Superior construction. Your range is already massive anyway and you can use those points to get more models.
What do you think of my list? It's a gundabad army Azog on Wight warg and armour 2 ogres 1 War bat 1 gundabad orc with banner 6 gundabad orcs with shields 6 gundabad orcs with shields/spear 1 goblin mercenary captain 8 goblin mercenaires Narzug 3 hunter orcs with bow 2 fell wargs It's a 700 points army list, and 32 models
Wanna hear your thoughts on a current list I am using and planning to take to a couple events. 500 points Mordor WK on horse Crown of morgul 3 11 3 for M W F 5 black numinorians 5 morannon orcs with spear and shield Kardush the Firecaller 4 black numinorians 3 morannons with spear and shield 1 morannon with spear 1 warg rider with throwing spear and shield Great beast of gorgoroth Area it focuses on: courage and terror, shooting (9 bows on the beast), decent on magic. Would be great to hear you thoughts on it though 🤔
Thanks for the comment! Looks like a super fun list, if you haven't seen it yet check out this battle report: ua-cam.com/video/k-y1qPmXHlg/v-deo.html I really like the inclusion of the single Warg rider. He add a bit of mobility in which will be very helpful. The Great Beast is such a pivotal model in this army and combining the magic with him is great. Remeber that if you opponent moves first and ties up the great beast with just one model then you can use your fireball or black dart to kill that model and free up the beast to move. You can also use Kardush's ability to kill a model on the models in the howda of the beast. One thing that I think isn't ideal is the use of Black Numenorians with Kardush. Kardush's fury only impacts orcs so you aren't covering the full army with it. This means there is a bit of counter synergy in the list. Kardush is good enough to make up for it but its worth being aware of. Let me know how you go with the Great Beast! They are such fun models to use
Great video Jacop, love this channel. If you have time, I am a bit concerned about the hitting power of my Dale LL, grateful for general thoughts on this 666 pt list: - Brand, 11 archers with spears - Bard II, 8 spearmen with shields + banner - Captain with bow, 10 knights of dale - Windlance Have a good Easterbreak, greetings from Brussels-EU!
Thanks for the comment! I really like that you have as many spears as possible. If you park your archers behind your knights when you have priority you don't need to charge you can just threaten your opponent with shooting so they have to run into the knights which will then get +1 to wound. This should help a lot with the hitting power. You have a tone of S3 shooting so hopefully can do plenty of damage to your opponent before they get to you meaning your decent numbers can have an even bigger advantage. The Windlance is always a tricky choice. I haven't seen them get their points back very often. Especially at 666 points it may not be the right choice. You could drop the windlance to fill out the numbers in Brand and Bards warband which would give you a really large model count. Thank you for the good wishes! Good luck with the army!
@@ConquestCreations thanks a lot! Indeed, in today's test game I lost 8-4 to Rivendell at capture and control. The windlance killed 3 warriors and was underwhelming = 7 extra warriors could have made the difference for me.
750 points erebor reclaimed Thorin goat orcist 135 8 iron hills spears 96 4 crossbows 48 Dain pig 160 8 iron hills spears 96 4 crossbows 48 Dwalin goat 125 2 goat riders with spears 40 I feel like it meets 4 of the 8 points well and has okay counterplay/inbuilt management for 2 of the others having good shooting/resistance to enemy shooting to force the enemy to come towards you even if you meet 1/3 of the way up the board No magic and lower numbers are the weaknesses 1) hitting power Always hitting hard with dain and dwalin S5 twohanded no penalty and mounted and even Thorin can two hand if needed Irons hills troops are as elite as it comes for foot 1 wound models and can put out pain on most other troops (beornings and half trolls are the main struggle along with decent heavy/shock cav but the 3 heroes can all manage to kill 2 half trolls or beornings in a turn while mounted) 2) manoeuvrability is a big struggle for dwarfs of all stripes Some speed with goats and 1 heroic marcher is better than other dwarfs but the inch slower will always hurt a skirmish army can avoid and pick engagements so good pre planning matters but having a plan to make chokes in your board half and let the enemy burn themselves out on the approach 3) Numbers The numbers are deceptive and as low as youll find outside of a hero only or cav only list 29 models is the trade off of having half the points of the army are in 3 models But using slow speed to my advantage and setting up choke points and getting crossbow shots out the advancing enemy can easily set the scene for iron hills dwarfs to take on three times their number and reliably hold while the heroes do the offensive work 4) 9 might is good and can be great with thorin if he is just cutting throug troops but max 2 marches all game as id never leave dain mightless 5) Magic...big F here atleast the heroes all have good will? 3s for thorin and dain 2 for dwalin 6) Shooting is solid 8 crossbows averages 4 hits at S4 to kill horses or other priority targets, i wont outshoot armies that don't follow bowcap but shieldwall dwarfs dont fear incoming arrows as 6/4s for s3 means 12 hits or 6/5 for s2 means 18 hits to guarantee a wound so ill sit and trade with decent success 7) Courage Courage is a non factor while dain is alive....C4 is alright otherwise 8) Redundancy is great 3 big heroes and its hard to stop all of them even thorin can two hand and swing for the fences if needed Lots of hard models and shooting split into two groups incase of enemy getting a flyer into my back lines early Iron hills/erebor reclaimed is my army at all points levels The debate at 750 would be no thorin and take a goat captain and two more goat riders more march and more manoeuvrability Keen for your thoughts Thanks
I have an almost identical list except I don't have mounted thorin and dwalin models so I have them on foot (proxied as thorns company rather than the Reclaimed models) also a few troops short to hit 750.
Great analysis of the list. Having good shooting with 8 high defence cross bows is a good way to deal with your low maneuverability. It means that you will out shoot most armies and that could force a lot of those kiting lists into you. 29 models is low but it isn't to bad. Magic is where you are the weakest but this is covered by having the 3 hitters. Only one of them can be frozen by a wizard each turn. I like this list a lot and what its lacking in some areas it makes up for be being very good at others.
@ConquestCreations thanks for the reply Would you consider a batrep series of taking powerful tournament winning lists and discussing counterplay and showing the more specific things that come up and how to try to beat them? A "how to deal with" series Take a standard wellbalanced but powerful list and show them against different list builds how to deal with swarms, all hero, smaug, magic heavy, all cav? Give newer players an idea of mitigating their weaknesses Thanks for your thoughts and hoping for a kingdom of tinas mirith terrain set to happen eventually
Hi :) This video will help many new players so that is great! I have two armies that I have start with so you can slaughter, okay or it is dissent after what you like! Both is green alliance, on good and one evil. I give them both 6/10 I understand that in UK many like Mordor and Suladan with his banner. I want to try something not so many plays! This is 700p army green alliance with Mordor&The Easterlings. 8 Might, only 3 bows and 40 units. Warband 1: The Witch King on Armoured Horse with 3 might 15 will 3 fate and Crown of Morgul 6 Black Numenorean 6 Morannon Orc with Shield and Spear 3 Warg Riders with throwing spear Warband 2: Orc Captain with Shield 2 Black Numenorean 3 Orc Warrior with bow Warband 3: Rutabi 1 Easterling Katapphrakt with Drum 1 Easterling Warrior with Shield, Pike and Banner 13 Easterling Warrior with Shield, Pike Army 2: Green alliance between Rivendell and Lothlorien with only 6 might (Two heroes), 7 Bows, 29 units, Mostly Fight 6, and an Sentinel: (It is option to squeeze in a Captain or Cirdan with some testing) Warband 1: Gil-Galad on Horse and Shield 3 Rivendell Knight with Shield 1 Kings Guard with Shield, Spear and Banner 3 Kings Guard with Elf Bow 11 Kingsguard with Shield and Spear Warband 2: Galadriel 2 Gladhrim Warrior with Shield and Spear 3 Guard of the Galadhrim Court 1 Wood Elf Sentinel 2 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing Weapons 1 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing Weapons and Spear
Thanks for the comment! In Mordor I would basically never take a regular orc captain because I think there are a lot of better options. Any of the named characters are worth it for the extra point of might. Rather than taking orc warriors with bow I would take Trackers. They get -1D but +1 to hit. The Easterling contingent is an interesting choice. I am not convinced that it ads much tactically but it is cool and the models are great. Rutabi is one of the most efficient heroes in the game so she will always be good. The Drummer isn't getting full value but for how cheap he is that's not the end of the world. It'll be cool to see the Easterlings going around the flank and surrounding the enemy while the Witch King holds the line. With the good army I think this is solid. It's low might and numbers but Galadriel can protect Gil Galad from enemy spell casters which is his biggest weakness. The Guard of Galadhrim court are very redundant becuase of the amount of fight 6 that you already have in the army. I would take a few more bows with Galadriel to make sure you are maxing out on them. This list has some weaknesses but also some strengths. If you can play around the lack of might it can be really strong but if Gil Galad goes down early you are in a lot of trouble
Here is my Radagast (white council)/Rivendell list Alliance level: Historical Total Points: 750 Total Units: 27 Break Point: 13.5 Bows: 8 -Radagast the Brown Sleigh, Sebastian -Elladan & Elrohir Horses, Heavy Armour 1x High Elf Warrior Banner, Shield, Spear 8x High Elf Warrior Elf Bow 2x High Elf Warrior Shield, Spear Gildor Inglorion 12x Wood Elf Warrior Throwing Daggers, Wood Elf Spear, Noldorin Exiles Upgrade
Awesome video, it really distils the list building down to simple steps which is great. I've been working on this list for an 800 (400/400) doubles tournament. I've based it on Faramir's retreat from the Ramas Echor in the books when Imrahil and the cavalry ride out to his rescue. While I know it's not the most competitive I am going hard for the theme. Just wondering if there are any glaring holes (apart from Faramir) to address and any general suggestions. The general idea is Ingold holds the shield wall together with Faramir's help making the anvil and Imrahil and Hurin come in as the hammer to crunch the enemy. Army: 800pts | 35 models | 50% = 18 | 25% = 8 | 7 bows | Force 1: The Van of Gondor (400pts) Warband 1 (240pts) Imrahil (160) - Lance - Armoured horse 4 x Knight of Dol Amroth (80) - Lance - Armoured horse Warband 2 (160pts) Hurin (90) - Horse 5 x Knight of Minas Tirith - Shield ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Force 2: The Rammas Defenders (400pts) Warband 1 (207pts, 3 bows) Faramir (110) - armoured horse - lance - heavy armour - shield 1 x Citadel Guard - horse - Longbow 4 x Osgiliath Veteran - Shield 2 x Ranger - spear 2 x Warrior - spear - shield 1 x warrior - spear Warband 2 (193pts, 4 bows) Ingold 1 x Warrior - Shield - Spear - Banner 5 x Warrior - Shield 2 x Warrior - Shield - Spear 4 x Ranger - Spear
List may be illegal. The matched play guide limits each half of a doubles army to 1 faction. So your list 1 may not work out. If you have the models though you can swap out Hurin and KOMT for Forlong and more KODA
@@kevinnobacon1126 ahh okay my uderstanding was that you could use the same army in the different forces but not the same heroes. Thanks for the heads up, I'll double check with the TO.
Unfortunately Kevin is correct, one option would be to lean into the Feifdoms more in that list. If you took Forlong and more knights instead of Hurin that would work very similarly. I think this is super powerful for doubles beucase the scenarios really favor armies that are fast and can link up quickly. My favorite inclusion is the Citadel guard with horse and bow. These guys are so good for capturing objectives
@@ConquestCreations so I double checked with the TO and for this tournament we are allowed to have Minas Tirith in both forces so it is legal. My initial thought was to go all in on fiefdoms but the Minas Tirith knights just allows for a smidge more numbers. Thanks for the feedback, that was may hope. We know its going to be Total Conquest, Duel of Wits, and take and hold for the three scenarios so hoping to seize the key locations quickly and hold them. Love the mounted citadel guard (although not the themeiest in this list 😅)
Overall these lists are very similar. Bother are very low on might so I would suggest going for the one with an Orc captain. These armies are great at stopping your opponent from doing damage. They may be a bit of a slog to have to play against because they are so oppressive and will stop you enemy from using their coolest models. This is worth considering if you are playing casual games. If you are going to play this list you need to expect people to play heavy avoidance which may also make it difficult for you to enjoy. The main tactic against this army would be keeping distance and killing as many models with shooting as possible.
Great video Jacob it was really helpful I’m not playing the game yet but me and a friend really like watching your videos there really fun, and informative we learn a lot watching your videos and while I’m not playing yet we been building list over the past handful of months here is one I edit after watching this video what do you think an advice would be a great help, and let me know if I didn’t anything wrong thank you 😁 First Warband Aragorn King Elessar on armored horse (leader 240 points) 2 Knights of Minas Tirith with shields (28 points) 6 Guards of The Fountain Court with shields (66 points) 10 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears (90 points) Second Warband Gandalf The White on Shadowfax (240 points) 7 Rangers of Gondor (56 points) 6 Warriors of Minas Tirith with with shields and spears (54 points) Knights of Minas Tirith with shields (14 points) Third Warband Ingold Warden of the Rammas Echor (65 points) 8 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears (72 points) 4 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields (32 points) Fourth Warband Mablung: Ranger of Ithilien (35 points) 6 Rangers of Gondor (48 points) Total model count 55 Breaking point at 27 models Quartering point at 14 10* might 13 bows Total points 1000
Thanks for the comment! 1000 points is a big army to start with but I really like this one. For the amount of massive heroes you have still getting 55 models in great. 10 Might is low but the free one per turn means that you will be totally fine. You have the right amount of cavalry to cover the base of maneuverability and the free march from Aragorn will only help with that. Your hitting power will be quite low. Despite having Aragorn and knights having 45ish strength 3 models will struggle to kill stuff. That isn't a problem its just good to keep in mind that breaking your enemy will take several turns. In Gandalf's warband I would give all of the Rangers spears and have them sitting behind the warriors of Minas Tirith so the can provide thier higher fight value but still be protected by the higher defense. Mablung is a cool choice because you don't see him often. For 35 points he is decent. I would consider swapping him for Beregond on horse who comes in at similar points but is a perfect unit to sit on objectives or go get enemy objectives in the late game.
Hey guys I thought I didn't like lord of the rings until I hadwatched you're videos, Thank you so much!! just one question does this video still apply to some of the new content coming out? I'm just starting to learn a bit about the lore, I'd like to run mordor army.
The new edition is highly likely to be very similar to the current edition so I reckon most of this advice certainly still applies but I'll be remaking this video a few months into the new edition. Mordor is a great starting point!
I am new to the game and started running barad dur. At 650 points I have been running a bunch of orcs and trackers with an orc captain leading a pack of 5 wargs. I found the list outside of Sauron exceptionally underwhelming. I was considering dropping the second warband and just using Sauron's 24 sized band with black numenoreans, morgul knights and some spear orc support alongisde some trackers for range. Total models only drops from 28 to 25 doing this but the actual staying power of the army looks to be immensely better. The biggest cost in my eyes is the loss of the 2 might of the captain. Only 3 might at 650 is rough but it almost seems like a cost I have to compensate for with running Sauron at that low of a point value. The may thought though is when you get scenarios that target heros now instead of the captain being the only choice (ie fog of war target/protection) they have to choose Sauron. Double edged sword with him anti break passive but I feel it may be worth it? Small sample size of games though definitely leaves me wondering if I am completely wrong in that thought.
I would absolutely take the Black Numenorian build with this and just accept that you will have barely any might. The longer the game goes for the more turns Sauron has to kill stuff and hence the better that he will be. You could still take a few spears but ultimately the goal of everything except for Sauron is to just stay alive while Sauron does all the work.
This is a really solid army, not surprised that you came second place with it. Its ticking a lot of boxes. Hitting power is great with lots of strength 4, Zagdush and Goroth who both hit hard, and a few morgul stalkers with 2 attacks Maneuverability is fantastic. Its great to see a drummer in there and the 4 cavalry is plenty Numbers are obviously great with 51 models Might is good without being amazing at 9 points. Shooting is as good as you need it to be. You can out shoot armies that don't have any bows without having much shooting yourself. Magic is solid with Kardush being able to refresh his will. He is particilarly good in an Orc horde like this where everyone gets his fury bonus and if you kill a few of your own its not a big deal. Courage is good, You should pretty much always have the Mordor army bonus and Kardush is the best shaman. If you are against a terror wall with a nazgul who saps your will you can simply refresh it and cast it again. Redundancy is good by having high numbers. I really like that you have slightly over 50% spears to make sure you will always have them where they are needed. Overall this is a great list and I want to give it a shot myself. I am currently working on painting a similar list
@@cjjulius4138 Shagrat doesn't have any synergies in this army. He won't be impacted by the drum or the fury. I think lots of people use him as a crutch because he is super points effective but if he doesn't have synergies there are a lot of better options. Gorbag also doesn't fit in here. He works really well in lower model count armies where charging two enemies at once makes sense but when you have this many models you want as many of them fighting as possible so Zagdush is the better option. A minor wraith could be a decent change if you swapped the orc captain for it, but I think this is up to style and I don't rate the minor wraiths at all.
I love your channel, thanks for the hard work and all these videos. I am starting playing to MESBG with two close friends, we bought an army and need to learn the rules but they are so many and we are afraid to foget some of them while playing and making huge mistake. Do you have any advice for us? How did you start playing first time with all these rules and remember them all? Thanks so much!
Assuming the three of you get together to play, my suggestion is don't even try to play any 'games' at first but concentrate on learning the basics by setting up situations. Start with melee by having 2 or 3 of your models fighting one of your friends 2 or 3 models, then his models fights your other friend's models who then has his 2 or 3 models fight yours. Do this a few times until you feel comfortable with the melee rules. Move on to range and charging. Keep expanding the complexity by adding in mounted models, then Heros and magic. This could take you a afternoon or two, after which increase the size to a small skirmish of 6 to 8 models. When you feel you have the basics down, now proceed to a full game, perhaps by having each of you playing each other in a tournament where you pick a few Scenarios, make sure at least one is a blood bath type and one is a control the objective type. By the time you have finished this I think you will know enough of the rules and have enough confidence to play others who are not your close friends. So start small and work up to a full game.
Super fun list, I love Cirith Ungol. The shaman choice is a tough one in this list. It solves the terror problem but it doesn't have the best synergy. Given that you already have plenty of numbers I would drop the Orc Captian in exchange for a Mordor Uruk Captain. This guys hitting power is great and you can afford to have a few less models. I would put some bows in the Shaman's warband so that they can sit back on objectives becuase the shaman can deploy behind the lines.
Hey! I'm on friendly tournament in May, 625p, one army (so also goog vs good), 3 games and random scenarios. I thought about starting a new Khazad Dum/Moria project, with an Iron Guard heavy list. Please review/comment, here we go! Balin 7 Iron Guards 2 Khazad Guards 5 Dwarf Warriors bow 1 Dwarf Ranger bow, throwing axe Kings Champ 2 Herolds 5 Iron Guards 2 Khazad Guards 2 Dwarf Warriors bow 1 Dwarf Ranger bow, throwing axe Dwarf Ballista, one extra crew member 625 Points, 32 Models, 5+1 Might 9 bows + Ballista, 14 throwing axes My rationale was just to spam out a bit some killy Iron Guards and keep D6 as a baseline with the rest being mainly Dwarf Warriors with bow. Some Khazad Guards for tanking S4 Heros or Terror models for a turn or two and standing on objectives. Dwarf Rangers to climb stuff and shoot things. Ballista is supposed to keep me save from shooty armies, especially so cross bows or S2 bows spam like harad wouldn't shoot off my 15p units. Ideally, if my opponent runs towards me, even use that might of the Ballista captn for a heroic move, as the other might in this list is better to use for different things. Play conservatively with Balin, try to drain a heroic move here n' there from my opponent with his longbeard special rule and keep him alive to leverage it in lategame when both are low on might as well. Bad match-ups would be D7 armies I guess, as I also could come up against good armies. Magic would be unpleasant but I hope it wont be too prevelant at that point level. Cheers!
Thanks for the comment. This is solid for 625 points. The Kings Champ is always such a good inclusion. I like the mix of Dwarf warriors with bow and rangers. I would swap 1 or 2 more of the warriors into rangers with bows. This one will really but up to how well you can pilot it. Having a bunch of throwing weapons is awesome and sometimes you will need to disengage to form your lines up and throw. You main weakness is lack of mobility so make sure you plan ahead when it comes to capturing objectives.
Hello I love watching you MESBG content and I have a thematic list that I am trying out so thoughts on improving it without a massive overhaul would be great. Minas Tirith Garrison of the Aror Outpost Lord Keldon of Minas Tirith (King of men) w/ heavy armor, shield, horse, Hero of Valor 9 Knights of Minas Tirith w/ shield, lance Bor Knight of the White Tower 6 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ shield 5 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ shield, spear 1 Warriors of Minas Tirith w Banner, shield, spear Captain Orthelder of Minas Tirith w/ shield 5 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ shield 6 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ shield, spear 1 Warriors of Minas Tirith w Banner, shield, spear Captain Voran of Minas Tirith w/ Bow 11 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ bows Gondor Avenger Bolt Thrower w/ swift reload Total points: 796 pts 11 Bows 47 Warriors
I wanted to run iron hills at 800 points and feel like I have a decent list but I am not sure. The list is 1 Dain ironfoot lord of the iron hills on boar 12 Iron hills dwarves with spear 2 Iron hills Dwarves with crossbow 3 goat riders 1 Iron hills dwarf with banner 1 iron hills captain 6 iron hills dwarves with spear 3 iron hills dwarves with crossbow 3 goat riders 1 iron hills ballista Just wanted to see if you had any suggestions on how to make it better. And I love your content!
Thanks for the comment, this is an all around solid list. The two changes that I would make are dropping the goat riders down to 3 I reckon 6 is to many. At the same time I would put the Captain on goat with a war spear. This will increase his hitting power drastically
I have a Moria Goblin spam list I'm thinking about taking to a local Arda invitational. Durbruz Leader with 7 Shield Gobs and 7 Spear and Bow Gobs Groblog with 6 prowlers and 6 Shield Gobs ×2 Moria Captains with 6 Shield Gobs and 6 Spear and Bow Gobs Moria Blackshield Shaman with 6 prowlers Moria Shaman with 2 Shield Gobs, 2 Spear and Bow Gobs, and 2 Bat swarms. 700 point Grand Tournament. 68 models, 21 bows. Thoughts?
68 models at 700 points is pretty awesome. I love this idea of playing maxed out moria horde. The only thing that I am unsure of is the Shaman. He is great and I did suggest him in the video but if you come up against a Witch King you will just get sap willed so he won't actually help against several terror armies. I would suggest dropping him and a few models to take in a drum. This will give all your goblins +1 courage which helps, all the enemy -1 courage which is always nice, and be a massive banner to buff your whole horde. I would also spread out all the prowlers to they are mixed up with everything else so whenever you see a trap opportunity you can go for it
This is an all round solid army. It will be able to compete in every scenario. Just make sure you keep Borromir in the right place. It's really tempting to go for big charges with him but his place is in the battle line with his troops. You can probably get away with dropping the banner in Denethors warband becuase you want Boromir there giving them +1 fight away way. With those points I would take a few more rangers
@@ConquestCreations would you switch it to Ingolds warband possibly? I worry that with so many infantry the boromir banner won’t be able to cover a wide enough area if there is more than one vital spot
im just getting into the game by reading and watching videos (while waiting for the things i want to be in stock). Why is higher fight value so important? everywhere i read the importance 1 point can make and when i look in the rules it seems like its only used as a tie breaker for dice rolls, if thats the case why is it so important? i find this aspect the most confusing about discourse of the game
Great question! This is actually something that I see asked relatively often from new players. In 1 vs 1 roll offs fight value isn't a very big deal, however the more dice you roll the larger the impact of fight value is. For an elf with a spear support and a banner you will effectively roll 3 dice. Your odds of rolling a 6's is decently high and that would automatically win your fight against an orc. When it comes to two big heroes who are each rolling 3 dice and have might points that can be used to boost thier rolls, having a higher fight gives a statistically huge advantage. Once you get your first game in the difference that it makes will become apparent very quickly. Welcome to Middle Earth!
ah, put that way, it makes alot of sense now. I was thinking of it in a much smaller scale of just a straight dice offs, but with extra dice + modifiers I see how the odds shift quite often to tiebreakers@@ConquestCreations Im hopeful I can get into the game sooner than later (waiting on stock of serpent horde) Im really looking forward to the paint project and the game seems like it should be fun aswell.
Hey Jacob, I’m working on finishing up painting my War Mûmak to use in a Serpent Horde army. I’ve heard mûmaks are not the most competitive but I wanted to get your thoughts/advice on how to build a ~800 point army list of Haradrim. Thanks!!
Thanks for the comment. Mumaks can be great. If you want it to be competitive I would recomend taking the Warleader Mumak filled up with archers and then have Suladan on horse with a bunch of cavalry. This will allow all your warriors to keep up with the Mumak and Harad Cavalry is very cheap. I won a 650 point tournament several years ago before the War leader came out with a list like this.
Going to my first comp soon, any tips for this 500 pointer Bolg mounted 4 mounted hunters Narzug 9 hunter orcs with bow Fimbul 10 hunter orcs Love the channel, battle reports have helped me learn quite a bit TIA 🤠
I'd try to have 50% bows, azogs hunters allows you to do that. And with Bold they all get the morgul poison rule iirc, which is pretty nice. And even if your archers end up fighting in close combat they still have their 2 attacks. The heros you chose are perfect though
Thanks for the comment. This is a solid army list. The main thing to be careful of is how easily you will die. This is a glass hammer army meaning you will kill quickly but you will also die quickly. I would probably turn the 4 mounted hunters into 4 hunters on foot and take 4 separate fell wargs. This boosts your numbers and it means your hunter orcs will fight at full efficiency. As MapleSyrup said I would also take a few more bows to max out for 50%
Hi Jacob, I am preparing myself for a 600 pts tournament, and I am hesitating between two armies. Could you tell me which one would be more efficient and more competitive ? thanks ! List 1 : Boromir captain of the White T with the banner, on horse with shield (general) 5 knights of MT with shields 4 warriors of MT with shields 4 fountain court guards with shields 1 citadel guard on foot with bow Angbor the fearless 5 clansmen of lamedon 6 warriors of lossarnach 1 avenger bolt thrower with fast reload 30 units List 2 : Boromir captain of the WT on horse with banner and shield 3 knights of MT with shields 4 warriors of MT with shields 4 fountain court guards with shields Angbor the fearless 4 clansmen of lamedon 5 axemen of lossarnach Irolas captain of the guard 3 warriors of MT with shields 4 rangers of gondor with spears 30 units Thank you very much !
Thanks for the comment. Personally I am not the biggest fan of the Bolt Thrower. There will be games where it is amazing and games where it does nothing. By having another hero you guarantee that you will always have and extra 3 might to spend. For that reason I would lean towards list number 2. Although I wouldn't choose Irolas as the top of the Minas Tirith Heroes of Fortitude. The best pick would probably be Ingold in my experience.
Thanks for the great video! I'd appreciate feedback on this 800-point Fiefdoms/Minas Tirith alliance. I know Gandalf the White isn't the most popular but I want to try to make him work. Prince Imrahil (Leader) with armoured horse and lance 6x Axemen of Lossarnach 7x Men-at-arms of Dol Amroth Gandalf the White with Shadowfax 6x Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields 2x Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears 4x Rangers of Gondor with spears Knight of Minas Tirith with shield Irolas 6x Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields 2x Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears 4x Rangers of Gondor with spears 800 points, 41 models, 8 bows, 9 might I made an alternative version which has Forlong instead of Imrahil, and uses the extra points to get a banner for Gandalf's warband and a bolt thrower. I wonder which would be better. Thanks in advance.
Nice list, I like to see people trying Gandalf the White, I reckon he in under rated. I'll try to play him in a batrep soon. I like having Imrahil because he covers your need for a banner. In deployment I would mix up Imrahil's and Gandalf's warbands to make sure the banner effect is evenly spread throughout. The one choice that I am not convinced on is Irolas. Of all the Minas Tirith Heroes he isn't my favorite. He has Heroic defence which is nice but I would prefer one of the cheap strikers like Ingold, or Cirion. If you were feeling brave you could even go with a knight of the white tower who works well with Gandalfs magic being around.
The hipster take on Rohan Warband 1 4/15 Eorl the Young 4 Son of Eorl ---- Warband 2 11/12 Grimbold of Grimslade 4 Helminga with Throwing Spears; Shield; Axe 1 Helminga with Banner; Shield; Axe 6 Rohan Royal Guard with Throwing Spears; ---- Warband 3 12/12 Erkenbrand, Captain of Rohan with Horse; 4 Helminga with Throwing Spears; Shield; Axe 4 Rohan Royal Guard with Throwing Spears; 4 Rohan Outrider ---- Warband 4 12/12 Elfhelm, Captain of Rohan with Horse; 4 Helminga with Throwing Spears; Shield; Axe 4 Rohan Royal Guard with Throwing Spears; 4 Rohan Outrider ---- 800/43Models
Thanks for the comment. The main thing I would worry about here is loosing your army bonus from Eorl the Young. Given that your army doesn't have much cavalry it's not the end of the world and the hitting power is made up for by how insanely good the Sons are. I love the inclusion of Erkenbrand because +2 courage is awesome. I would mount a few of the Outriders so in the late game they can run around and get objectes and make the most of their special rule.
What’s your thoughts on this Jacob? 500 points Lorien list Galadriel 6x warriors with shield 6x warriors with bow and spear 1x warrior with banner shield and spear 5x guard of the galadhrim court Haldir with heavy armour and bow 3x warriors with shield 2x warrior with bow and spear Comes to 23 warriors, 25 models total, with 8 bows. Main concern is the hitting power of Lorien 😅
You are totally correct about the hitting power! It's going to be hard to kill anything. Something to keep in mind is that you can two hand with the elves in the front rank if you need to. This is a bit more risky but if you have a spear support and a banner around you should be able to get away with it. If you want more hitting power you could swap Haldril for Orophin. He has an extra attack and an ability to gain extra strikes. I would drop your numbers slightly to take on knight with bow to be faster at moving and I would take a sentinel. They are one of the best units in the game and the 2 attacks will be welcome
Thanks for the comment, firstly I would recomend tabletop admiral over Battle Scribe becuase lists written on Battle scribe are super hard to read. This list solidly covers all the bases really well and the Mouth of Sauron and the Witch King are both great value. You are sorely low on might especially because the Witch King is only fight 5 you need it to strike which makes the issue even worse. I would seriously consider dropping either Shelob or the Mouth of Sauron and some guys to take in a 3 might character such as Gorbag or Zagdush as well as grabbing some orc trackers. The Witch King is a hero of Legend in Mordor so you have the warband space for it.
All of the elven factions are great in their own way. Lothlorien will be the easiest one to collect becuase they have the most plastic models. I would recomend starting with a box of Galahdrim warriors, Rumil and orophin, then either Haldir or Galadreil and Celeborn. After that I would grab some knights and some sentinels and you will be good to go
Thanks for the comment. You have high numbers but are missing some key things so I would drop some numbers to free up some points, then I would definitely recomend taking a banner. Especially with a high fight army it will be worth it in ever single game. I would add in 2 more guard of Galadhrim court and have one in each warband. Then I would add in a woodelf sentinel or two. These guys are one of the best units in the game and give you a lot of magical control over your enemy. I would also take 1 or 2 knight with bows to provide some extra mobility.
Great video. Can you please review this helms guard list? Helm hammerhand on horse Five royal Rohan guards on horse Three riders of Rohan, one with banner Captain of Rohan, with horse, heavy armor, shield, and throwing spear Five Royal Rohan guards with horse and throwing spear Two riders of Rohan
This is a very solid all cavalry list build for this legion. There isn't anything I would do differently if I was going for this build. Your Weakness is low numbers so elite armies with shooting such as elves will be a big problem for you. Don't be afraid to attempt this legendary legion as a combined armes list where you take lots of infantry to make the most out of the throwing spear rule.
great video making a 1100 point moria list so here is that warband 1 balrog 350 points dweller in the dark 75 points 17 moria goblin warriors warband 2 groblog the goblin king 50 points 12 moria goblin warriors warband 3 ahrak 55 points 2 bat swarms 70 points 2 venomous giant spiders 44 points 8 moria goblin warriors warband 4 moria goblin captain 35 points 12 moria goblin warriors warband 5 cave drake 150 points 6 moria goblin warriors (didn't put weapons or point values down next to the goblin warriors since I haven't quite decided what to give who yet)
Thanks for the comment. 1100 is a strange point limit. I haven't seen any 1100 point tournaments before. The first thing I would start with is swapping the Goblin Captain for Durburz. He has more might and a lot more utility, bringing heroic strike and defense as well as a 12" standfast which paired with the Balrog makes you courage very reliable. I would move he dweller into Goblog's warband. The balrog can already take on almost everything so you may as well spread out the hitting power. Finally I would take 6 or so prowlers. These guys are incredible if you can set them up right. just spread them around your army.
@@ConquestCreations interesting thing to note is that if I do swap out the captain with durburtz and fill bid war and up with the maximum amount of goblin warriors I will only have 4 points left and k haven’t even gotten any bows shields spears etc yet so do you recommend me cutting back on the amount of goblins even though I heard this was a quantity over quality kind of faction or just skip out on the weapons
@@pufferfancyfish A lot of people say that Heroic march is a must take and I totally disagree. Your army will be find without it. You want to have a lot of spears. Inorder to leverage your horde you need to get all of them to be involved in the fight and you do that with spears. If you want you could get away without shields but I would basically always have a 1pt upgrade on my goblins. Always take a handful of bows as well.
@@ConquestCreations thanks for the suggestions they were really helpful after moving some stuff around I realized I could squeeze in 18 extra models than in my original army I decided to take your advice and give all my moria goblins spears the ones in the cave drakes and durburtz warbands bows and shields since they have bows they are more valuable hence the shields plus the guys in the cave drakes warband are very likely to be left alone considering there speed is dwarfed by the drakes and considering there are only six of them they definitely need something to keep them alive
I am completely baffled as to what to get for men of the west, so far I have the minas tirith battlehost and waiting on aragon to be back in stock I have thorin's company but no clue how to play them better or if adding allies would help, so far using gandalf properly has been a challenge.
For Men of the West the Rohan battlehost could be a good pick up. Hopefully Aragorn is back soon! I love me Thorins company but they are tricky to get a win with. I am planning on allying them with Army of Lake Town as my next army after my Mordor is finished off
I bought the Battle of Osgiliath Box and Minas Tirith Battlehost. What would be a good way to make the Army of Gondor and the Army of Mordor evenly matched for fun games? Grab the Mordor Battlehost?
Thanks for the comment. The Mordor Battle host is one option but Gandalf the White and the Witch King counter each other very well with Gandalf being able to banish the Witch King and the Witch King being able to Break Gandalf's staff. Instead I would recomend grabbing the Morannon Orc Command box. It gives you everything to make this 500 point army list. To increase it to 600 simply add in the troll and this is a great starting list to learn the game with. O)nce you get a few games with this you can decide where to go with it. Gothmog, Lieutenant of Sauron (145) Warg, Shield 5x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9) 5x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8) 1x Morannon Orc (Banner) (32) Morannon Orc Captain (55) Shield 4x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9) 4x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8) Orc Shaman (50) 2x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9) 2x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8) Orc Drummer (30) A good army to start out with for the good side at 500 points with the battle host is this: 498 points | 37 models Minas Tirith Faramir, Captain of Gondor: Bow, Heavy Armour 6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield, Spear 6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield 3x Knight of Minas Tirith: Shield 1x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield, Banner, Spear Madril, Captain of Ithilien: 6x Ranger of Gondor: Spear 6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield Damrod, Ranger of Ithilien: 5x Ranger of Gondor 1x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield The only thins with the list is that you will need to convert a bannerman or source one separately. To increase the size of this army you can drop any of the heroes to bring in Gandalf
Hey mate, fan of the channel, wondering if you (or anyone in the comment section) could give me some feedback on this list. It’s a 750 point list off the fall of gondolin so it’s mostly super themey as opposed to competitive: | Total points: 750 | Total Units: 30 | 50%: 15 | 25%: 7 | Bows: 9 | Alliance Level: Historical ---------------------------------------- Warband 1 (305 points) House of the golden flower Glorfindel (170 points) - Armour of Gondolin - Asfaloth 4x Rivendell Knight (88 points) - Shield 1x Rivendell Knight (47 points) - Banner - Shield ---------------------------------------- Warband 2 (221 points) House of the white wing High Elf Captain (Tuor) (95 points) - Horse - Lance - Shield 6x High Elf Warrior (66 points) - Shield - Spear 6x High Elf Warrior (60 points) - Shield ---------------------------------------- Warband 3 (224 points) house of the fountain Erestor (Ecthelion) (85 points) 5x High Elf Warrior (55 points) - Shield - Spear 4x High Elf Warrior (48 points) - Elf Bow - Spear 1x High Elf Warrior (36 points) - Banner - Shield - Spear ---------------------------------------- Thanks for any feedback!
Thanks for the comment. I always love an army that is Theme and this one is full of it which is great! I like having 2 banners, they are so powerful when you have high fight like this army does. Your main problem is hitting power. Glorfindel struggles to get many kills and the rest of the army is S3. When you are playing it I wouldn't be afraid to use two handing with the elves if they have a spearman and a banner around to help kill thinks more quickly.
Where can we find tournament packs etc for ardacon? Also as a new player getting into tournaments, what's the most common points value to play at on the tournament scene?
I am not going to Aradacon unfortunately as it is on the other side of the world to me, however I am sure a quick google search will show you. Alternatively you can look on the GBHL (Breat British Hobbit League) Facebook page and I am sure there will be a link there. A vast majority of tournaments will be between 500-800.
Army of Thror 600pts Thror 120pts Guardians of the king Grim hammer str4 (11+1) x15 180 Young Thorin with shield 105 Young Dwalin 85 Warrior of Erebor with shield and spear x11 110pts
Hell yeah I love this list. I love Army of Thror. I have played almost this exact list before. You are obviously super slow, have no shooting, and slightly low numbers. However your hitting power and might is through the roof. This is a list of extremes. In some match ups its great whereas in others its not going to go well at all. One option that is a bit of a meme but also super fun is dropping all the Warriors in exchange for Thrain. He is a beast
Hi jacob, Im loving the game so far but so far im playing azog legion and i dont know how to make it better with 750 points is mixing with dol gulder a good idea? So i can keep the army bonuses?
My list so far is Azog for 225 no flail 1 brute 2 war bats 1 banner orc 2 captains 1 orge 2 beserkers And filling it up with orcs with shields and spears
I am new to the game and starting by getting the Minas Tirith Battlehost, and possibly a Gondor’s Commander pack. What would be a good piece to add to make that army better?
The Gondor commanders is a gerat start. I would also have a look at the Wardens of Gondor or Denethor. Either set would be a great inclusion. To get more troops I would recomend getting some Guard of the Fountain Court, some rangers, or some citadel guard
Hi, 650 point list for an upcoming blue vs blue tournament Boromir, captain of white tower with shield and banner (205) 5 fountain guards with shield (55) 5 warriors of MT with spear and shield (45) Hurin with horse (90) 3 knights of MT with shield (42) Madril (55) 5 warriors of MT with shield (40) 5 rangers with spear (45) Avenger bolt thrower with swift reload (70) 647 points, 29 models (heroes and crew), 13 might points, cavalry and ballista for hitting power, ballista for map control, fountain guard and warriors with spear can be swapped in the front line depending on the enemy (terror or strenght 4) Any advices? Thanks
This is a classic Minas Tirith list. It checks a lot of boxes, being good at everything but not amazing at anything at the same time. I would default to having the Fountain guard in front becuase they have D7 as well as the bodyguard as you mentioned. Madril isn't my favorite pick. He is great in Recon and Maelstrom but otherwise I find I always prefer Cirion on Ingold over him. They are cheap strikers meaning that your enemy always has to be wary with their big heroes.
Adding some berzerkers is a great change because it will give you strong anti terror capability, another option would be taking in the Oathmaker and some wildmen. They are super cheap so buff your numbers and they are fearless. Overall this list is really well balanced and can do a bit of everything. It's tough to think of anything else to change.
@@ConquestCreations thanks for replaying! Yeah i was thinking about the oathmaker but couldn't find a way to put him in this list, there are a few bodyguards but they are more of a backline. I will try to fit some zerk, maybe take out 5 dunland warriors and one urukhai for 4 bersekers could be nice!
Great videos as always I was wondering if you could review my army list its 800 pts army of thor Rivendell allied Thor 15 grimhammer with kingsgaurd Young Balin 12 spear shield warriors Elrond 4 Rivendell knights with shield 6 spear shield elves 1 banner spear and shield The basic idea of this list was to have a bunch of priority Shenanigans I know it sucks that I lose thors Banner but I'm feeling this list is pretty strong
Thanks for the comment. I love Thrors banner so its sad to see it go but the elves cover a lot of the weaknesses of the rest of the army. I reckon if you are loosing Thror's banner I would rather take Thrain instead. He is super tanky as well but the built in +1 to wound and battlefield wide standfast is incredible. The amount of Priority control that this army has is awesome! I reckon I want to try something similar to this at some point. Just need to come up with a compelling story for why Elrond is visiting Thror!
@ConquestCreations my headcanon was thor visited elrond early enough on in his Exile but he still had a decent following. thrain is definitely an interesting change I usually have Thor is my leader which allows elrond to be aggressive also getting upgraded grim hammers is really nice but I might have to try that thank you for the suggestion
Hahahaha I'm glad you noticed yeah I've got a problem in the studio that it's not even remotely insulated! I think it was 30+ degrees recording this one
My next 450 tournament list: Theodred's Guard Theodred, Shield 85 4 Royal Guard, Horse, Throwing Spear 68 3 Outrider 24 Warrior, Banner, Shield, Throwing Spear 34 6 Warrior, Shield, Throwing Spear 54 Captain, Heavy Armour, Horse, Shield 65 3 Riders of Rohan 42 3 Outrider 24 6 Warrior, Shield, Throwing Spear 54 I generally lean more towards bigger armies with lots of shooting and mobility when playing Rohan. My evil army is a first for me Mordor The Mouth of Sauron, Armoured Horse 85 5 Moranon, Shield 40 5 Warrior, Spear 30 3 Scouts 15 Gorbag, Shield 60 4 Moranon, Shield 32 5 Warrior, Spear 30 3 Scout 15 Ringwraith, 2 Might, 1 Fate, 1 Will 75 4 Black Numenor 36 4 Moranon Spear 32 I don't have any wargriders and felt like the Strike and extra Might from Gorbabg would be worth more than a Captain on warg.
Thanks for the comment! Lets start with the good army, Firstly I would definitely give Theodred a throwing spear and Horse. That will drastically increase hit hitting power. It is more risky to play him this way because he must charge but if you need to you can always choose to dismount him in the early game. It also makes sense for him to accompany his cavalry warband. I would drop the captain for Elfhelm on horse. He is 10 points more but the 3rd point of might and the better shooting is worth it every time. Without the heroes you have 7 mounted models which is plenty. I would consider dropping 1 or 2 of the riders to be able to afford the upgrades that I have said. For the evil army I really like the choice of Gorbag he is a great pick and I could choose him over a captain on warg every single time. I am personally not a fan of budget wraiths becuase they have such a limited amount of will but it makes sense in your list and gives you plenty of redundancy with magic. I would recomend leaning into the harbinger of evil and swap the morranon orcs in the Mouth of Sauron's warband for more Black Numenorians. It would be great if you could get some cavalry in there to cover the movement speed but if you don't have the models you will do just fine without. Overall they are two solid lists. Both will take a bit of practice to get right but once you have figured it out you should be good.
@@ConquestCreations thanks for the really quick answer. I think I just got unlucky with Theodred once too often in Maelstrom while being on Horse. I did think about Elfhelm, but his lack of March is a bummer. Once again with Mordor I may be just to afraid of Maelstrom, but I will definitely try with more black Numenorians.
Mordor actually lost one game while rohan won both of theirs. More Black nums/shields on the spears would definitely have helped, although the main problem was an eomer who while being surrounded and with no ressources won or didn't get wounded by 6-8 Moranon for five turns in a row for

Thanks for the comment. This is a brutal army that will be a massive slog for your opponent. its going to be really tough for them to have a fun game. You have maxxed out your shooting at the expense of everything else which will work and 100% kill your opponent but the difficulty you will have is winning the scenario. In lords of battle it will be almost unbeatable but in domination or Capture and Control if you just sit back and shoot your opponent will claim the objectives. You are also in a lot of touble if they bring blinding light or you play Maelstrom. This is a very extreme army in some cases it will be extremely good. In others extremely bad.
I would add some heroes! There are a heap of great options for mordor. I would choose your favorites and use them. Personally I would recomend getting the command pack and then Zagdush and Goroth or Gorbag and Shagrat. You could play a list with a Troll, all the Morranons, a bannerman, Gorbag, Shagrat, and a task master
I've got a really fun 1200 pt army list planned, but not necessarily meant for competitive play. Angmar allied with the desolator of the north: The witch king w. 3 might, 15 will, 2 fate on an armoured horse and the crown of morgul: 190 pts 10x angmar orc warriors 50 pts 5x angmar orc warriors w. Spear 30 pts Angmar orc warrior w. Banner 30 pts 2x Dead marsh spectres 30 pts Wild warg chieftain 80 pts 8x wild wargs 56 pts 2x dead marsh spectres 30 pts And of course, Smaug at 700 pts This army doesn't necessarily follow these rules, but does have incredible hitting power, decent manouverability and magic, with quite good shooting with Smaugs breath attack. I think it'll be really fun to play, but as i said is probably going to be used in a casual game.
Wow 1200 is massive! This would be a heap of fun to play. It's awesome to see smaug with an army around him instead of him being on his own. Make sure that whoever you are playing against is ready to go up against this list so you can have a fun themey match up!
What do you think about this list? I'm taking it to my local club's tournament Warband 1 Army leader: Razgush Bat swarm Orc with banner + shield + spear 5 orcs with shield 2 orcs with spear + shield Warband 2 Ringwraith: 2/8/1 on foot 4 morranon orcs with shield 2 morranon orcs with spear + shield Orc drummer Warband 3 Guritz 4 morranon orcs with shield 2 morranon orcs with spear + shield Warband 4 Gorbag with shield 4 morranon orcs with shield 2 morranon orcs with spear + shield Warband 5 Kardush 4 morranon orcs with shield 2 morranon orcs with spear + shield 3 orc trackers Warband 6 Orc capitain on warg with shield 2 warg riders with shield. 800pts Might: 14 Bows: 3 Models: 44 Break point: 23 dead Quartered: 33 dead
Thanks for the comment. Its a solid list but there are a few small changes that I would make. The biggest one is that your ratio of spears is off. I would take a lost more spears than what you currently have. Because you have high numbers you are going to struggle to get them all into base contact with the enemy so spears are essential. I am not a fan of budget wraiths personally as I find that 8 will isn't enough to actually push any important spells through. This may be more a matter of preference than tactics though. If it were me in this list I would swap the wraith for another hero. I would either go for Zagdush, a cheap 3 attack hero. Or I would go for the orc task master. Your army is going to spend a lot of might on heroic moves and this guy will generate heaps of might for you. The final thing I would do is take a handful more trackers. I would go to 6-8. This legitimizes your shooting threat a bit more and is cheap.
I would have never even considered a taskmaster! I really like it though. If I do that, do you think it would be worth running a 2nd bat swarm because I'm losing one of my main hero killers? As in, drop both my wargs riders for it?
This is an all around solid army. The only change that I would make is the warband composition. I would spread the prowlers evenly so that the enemy will have a harder time of targeting them specifically and they will have more opportunities to trap. I would move the Cave Troll and the Drummer into the other two warbands. You want the drummer to be safely at the back and the Balrog wants to be right in the front so it makes sense to spread them out. By putting the cave troll in another warband you are also spreading out your hitting power
Oh Hai Jakecob. My list is Moria Goblin captain Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman Blacksheild Shaman 3x Goblin warriors with shield 800pts Pls tell me this can win a tournament I'm this close to the edge
I am disappointed that you took Goblin warriors with Shields. That is weak. Commit to the theme and drop them to upgrade the captain to a Black Shield Captain. 2 Hand weapon for the win
Thanks for the comment! This one ticks a lot of boxes. Ugluks is a very solid army list. I think putting the bows on the banners is a very odd choice. There are times that you want your archers spread around the table firing at your opponents while your main line sticks together. I would definitely move the bows off the banners. Snaga's special rule is not helpful at all but for his points you are basically paying for the extra might point which is worth it. One option that I think is great would be adding in the drummer. It only impacts your Uruks but it makes your movement speed 11" or if you choose to march its 14" which means that your archers could move 7" and still shoot! You can use this is surround your opponent to deal with the low number of spears.

This is a solid list and is quite a popular one. An important thing to remember is that Yazneg has a two handed axe so can not choose to fight 1 handed. I see this played wrong quite often. I would swap the Hunter Orcs on warg for a hunter orc on foot and warg seperately. This just boosts the numbers slightly and gives you full advantage of the many blades special rule
@@metascrub285 Fight 6 warriors are very rare and generally very expensive in points. The only 3 in the game are High Elf warriors with the Kings Guard upgrade. You can only take this if you have Gil Galad in your army. Palace guard in Mirkwood get fight 6 if they are within 3" of Thranduil. Guards of Galahdrim court are fight 6 and have pikes.

Spear & Shield Gorbag w. Shield 3 Black Numenorians 4 Moranons w. Spear & Shield 2 Trackers Suladan w. Armored Horse & Poison Bow 2 Serpent Riders
Looks nice, a classic WK+Suladan list, but a bit low on Numbers. I would drop Suladans Bow, and trim the Witch King down a bit, to a regular horse and 3/15/2, or 3/14/3. With the free 18 points, you can already afford another Morannon and Numenorean, and have none left over
This is a very classic and popular list. I would keep the Witch King on the Armoured horse becuase its such a pain when it gets shot out. By dropping two shields off the morranons you could get another tracker which is nice. Overall its a hard list to criticize.
As someone just getting into the game who is both a little overwhelmed but very much enjoying all the options and build choices in this game. This video was a great help. Thank you! Keep up the great content! :)
Thanks mate! There was a lot of info in this one! I'll have more beginner focused content on the way!
@@ConquestCreations it was really great info even from a beginner stand point! :D
But looking forward to seeing what else comes next! ^^
Great video - I've passed this onto my local club where new players are just getting involved with the game.
I agree with everything you've said and especially the bow aspect, it's not 40k and at the end of the day, the archer is a swordsman who can shoot! I see a lot of new players forget they are melee combatants, even better if they're elves.
thanks your videos have gotten me into this amazing game here is my Isengard list

Great video jacob! I'm actually going to my first MESBG event in the form of a double tourney with a friend of mine.
We are rocking a princes of Gondor Themed list, myself taking Faramir and he is taking Imrahil, sporting 400pts each.

He is rocking another 400 pts with Imrahil mounted with lance, Forlong with lance mounted, and around 17 soldiers mixed with men at arms, clansman and axemen, as well as a single mounted knight.
Here’s my tinkering list for 800 point competitive tournament:
Yellow Alliance between White Council, Fellowship and Minas Tirith.
Saruman the white on horse.
Boromir of Gondor on horse.
Denethor
2 citadel guard w bows
5 fountain court w shields
Warrior of Minas Tirith w banner, shield and spear
6 x Warrior of Minas Tirith w shield
Hurin on horse
5 knights w shield
Madril
7 rangers of Gondor w spears
5 Warriors of Minas Tirith w shield
9 bows, 36 total models, 15 might.
Great Video Jacob, thanks for sharing. And Great ideas and feedback to everyone to create balanced armies.
Thanks mate! I am glad you enjoyed it!

Hi Jacob, love the content as always! I’m building towards a 700 point Mirkwood list and this is where I’m at so far -
Mirkwood
Thranduil - extra sword, circlet, heavy armour, bow- 170
4 armoured elves with swords & shields - 40
4 armoured elves with bows, swords & shields - 48
4 armoured elves with glaives - 44
2 mirkwood cavalry with shields 34
1 armoured elf with sword, shield and banner 35
Legolas - elven cloak - 100
3 mirkwood rangers - 42
Palace guard captain with shield - 80 points
3 palace guard with spears & shield - 42
3 palace guard with sword and shield 39
Would be grateful for any feedback you might have for it!
Very well, here are two lists I am currently painting for potential competitive play :)
Azogs Legion (800 Points)
Azog with White Warg + Heavy Armour + Signal Tower
Gundabad Troll with Scythe Gauntlets
2 Ogres
9 Gundabad Berserkers
The Kingdom of Khazad-Dum (800 Points)
Dwarf King
4 Dwarf Rangers with Dwarf Longbows and Throwing Weapons
2 Dwarf Warriors with Shields
1 Dwarf Warrior with Shield and Banner
4 Vault Warden Teams
Floi Stonehand
8 Dwarf Rangers with Dwarf Longbows and Throwing Weapons
King's Champion
2 Dwarf Warriors with Shields
4 Vault Warden Teams
2 Dwarf Ballistas
Hi Jacob,
Love that you are putting in the time to answer our lists :) list building can be so tricky so having someone with your skills and expertise reviewing them is such a great tool to people like us.
Here is a cool list I wrote a while ago. It was written pre-dragon emeror nerf though, so let me know how you think it’ll go post nerf. I’d love to know how it competes against a hero heavy army of thror list, I just worry my S3 can’t quite crack through.
TLDR here is the list 😂:
Dragon emperor
Black Dragon Kataphrakt w/drums
10 Dragon Cult Acolytes
Rutabi
Easterling Captain w/shield
10 Dragon Cult Acolytes
Eastering captain w/bow and armoured horse
Soo keen to hear your feedback!
Thank you again Jacob for looking over my list for me I found your advice helpful my friend has a list she would like your opinion on if that’s okay with you to look at she doesn’t have the means to do it right now so I’m sending it on her behalf
First Warband:
Elrond, Master of Rivendell with Heavy Armour and Horse - 190 points • Rivendell Knight with Banner - 46 points
• 7 Rivendell Knights with Shields - 154 points
• 3 High Elf Warriors with Shields and Spears - 33 points
Second Warband:
Arwen Undómiel with Asfaloth and Elven Cloak - 85 points • 2 Rivendell Knights with Shields - 44 points
• 4 High Elf Warriors with Shields - 40 points
Third Warband:

Fourth Warband:
Círdan - 80 points
• 4 High Elf Warriors with Spears - 40 points
------------------ Total model count: 34
Breaking point: 17 models
Quartering point: 8 models
20 bows (army bonus) 8 might
Total points: 1000
@@ConquestCreations Thank you she really found you advice helpful, and she is really grateful that you look over her list

@ConquestCreations
Would you consider a batrep series of taking powerful tournament winning lists and discussing counterplay and showing the more specific things that come up and how to try to beat them?
A "how to deal with" series
Take a standard wellbalanced but powerful list and show them against different list builds how to deal with swarms, all hero, smaug, magic heavy, all cav?
Give newer players an idea of mitigating their weaknesses
Thanks for your thoughts and hoping for a kingdom of tinas mirith terrain set to happen eventually
Hey! I'm somewhat new to the game and I've researched what generally works well in a list, and built my own Lothlorien list:

4x Wood Elf Warrior (44 points)
- Elf Bow
- Wood Elf Spear

What do you think? I like the solid stats of the basic warrior with some quick shooting and sentinel "magic"
Awesome thanks! Definitely a good idea to add some faster cavalry
800p Numenor + Lothlorien that has almost everything covered.
Elendil on horse
-18 Numenoreans (9 shield, 4 spear&shield, 4 spear&bow, 1 banner&spear&shield)
Numenor Captain with horse and lance
-1 warrior with bow
Galadriel (Leader)
-11 warriors (8 shield, 3 spear&bow)
-1 knight with bow&shield
-4 court guard
-2 wood elves with bow
40 models total, 11 bows.
Dalamyr(leader):
7xBlack numenoreans

1xHaradrim with spear
2xSerpent riders
Might:9
Numbers:56
Crossbow: 9
Bows:10
I've just finished making/painting my Mirkwood rangers LL list for a game today

Ranger captain w. 7 ranger
Not expecting to win but the models are beautiful and I love the high risk high rewards of high fight low defense combat, especially with the knife fighters rule.

Thanks!

Minas Tirith
Boromir, Captain of the White Tower: (330)
1x Shield (5)
5x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield (40)
1x The Banner of Minas Tirith (40)
5x Guard of the Fountain Court: Shield (55)
5x Ranger of Gondor: Spear (45)
Gondor Avenger Bolt Thrower: (50)
Captain of Minas Tirith: (104)
1x Lance (5)
1x Horse (10)
3x Knight of Minas Tirith (39)
Thanks for the comment! Looks like a fun and classic list. Its got a great starting point. Taking Boromirr on foot with the banner is an interesting choice. On Horse he hits a lot harder and you always have the option to dismount if you want. His banner is better the more troops you have around him so I think he gets better at higher points. I would also swap the captain of Minas Tirith for a named character. I am a big fan of Cirion or Ingold. This will get you more might and it means you can move the horse of Borromir
Very interesting video :) I'll try to take the tipps in account for my next tournament.
My last easterling 700 pts list ( legendary legions werent allowed) :
Dragon emperor
Black dragon kataphract drummer
5 black dragons with shields and pike
4 easterlings with spears and shields
4 easterlings with shields
Brorgir
3 black dragons pike and shilds
3 easterlings pike and shields
3 easterlings with shields
1 easterling with a bow
Rutabi
2 black dragons with pike and shields
2 easterlings with pike and shields
2 easterlings with shields
1 easterling with a bow
Thanks for the comment! Easterlings are so good because they tick all the boxes really well. In this list I would drop your numbers slightly to get 1 or 2 mor cataphracts and I would swap some guys to get a few dragon acolytes. If you are playing with the right amount of terrain these guys can be super helpful.
Great video, certainly some for for thought there. Would you mind taking a look at this list I'm running in 600 point games at the moment. I'm not sure if the second bar swarm is correct but i feel like i hit a fair few of the points you mention.
Razgush
1 bat swarm
3 fell warg
3 giant spider
3 mirkwood spider
1 orc warrior, banner, shield
4 orc trackers
The spider queen
1 bat swarm
3 fell warg
2 giant spider
2 mirkwood spider
Courage - low and no real way of negating it
Redundancy- kind of... there's no one thing this army relies on super heavily, apart from maybe the 2 heroes.
Really good video Jacob. So useful for new players like me
Here's an idea for an enraged beast list for Moria, I would love some feedback.
Leader is Durburz, 4 warriors with shield, 5 warriors with bow, 4 with shield, and 2 prowlers
Druzhag: 5 fell wargs, 2 bat swarms, 2 prowlers, 3 warriors with bow.
Ashrak: 3 warriors with shield, 3 with spear, 5 giant spiders
Groblog: Moria drum, 2 drummers, 1 prowler,
700 points, 46 models, 23 models break point, and 11 models to quarter.
Just use AoL instead. It makes everything in this list better tbh.
@@ConquestCreations Thanks!
Hey Jacob, what do you think of my Isengard list, that I put together for a little turnament:
Saruman: Horse
- Crebain
- Uruk-hai Warrior: Pike, Sword, 5x Warrior
- Uruk-hai Warrior: Shield, Sword, 5x Warrior
- Uruk-hai Warrior: Banner, Shield, Sword, Warrior
- Uruk-hai Warrior: Crossbow, Heavy Armour, Sword, 2x Warrior
Gorûlf Ironskin
- Dunlending Warrior: Armour, Axe, Shield, 5x Warrior
- Orc Warrior: Armour, Pick, Shield, Spear, 3x Warrior
- Orc Warrior: Armour, Spear, Sword, 2x Warrior
Mauhúr
- Uruk-hai Scout: Marauder, 8x Scout, Uruk-hai bow
The Wild Man Oathmaker
- Wild Man of Dunland: Axe, 9x Men
Greetings from germany!
Honestly just wanted to run a full three hunters list to see how it holds up (not seriously competitive)
Return of the king:
Aragorn
6 x warrior of the dead w/ spear & shield
Gimli
2 x warrior w/ spear & shield
King of the dead
7 x warrior w/ spear & shield
2 x rider of the dead
Legolas
2 x warrior w/ shield
798 point total
List i'm thinking of running (900 points):
White council:
Elrond (heavy armor, horse)
Glorfindel (armor of gondolin, asfaloth)
Gandalf the grey (horse)
Radagast the brown (horse, sebastian)
Rivendell:
Lindir of Rivendell (heavy armor, horse)
5 Rivendell knights ( 5 shields)
The goal is to knock everything prone (wrath of the bruinen, natures wrath, sorcererous blast), prevent disadvantageous charges and shooting (blinding light, aura of dismay) and just steamroll everything with cavalry charges from the big heroes and Rivendell knights.
Thorin's Company does have access to March.
It was given an errata that each model has access to it.
Thanks for the comment, you are correct, at 11:49 I mentioned that it does have march
Page 8 - Thorin’s Company - Army Bonus
Add the following sentence to the end of the Army Bonus:
Additionally, all models from this Army List gain Heroic
March.
@@ConquestCreationsah so you do, I misheard. I thought you said it doesn't have march. That is my bad.
I have a bit of a hearing condition and as much as I love your videos,.I do sometimes struggle to hear dialogue.
Top notch video. Great job 👏
Great video!
At my first 650 pt Tournament I played something like this (numbers might be off):
Imrahil (horse+lance)
5 Mounted Knights w lance
Forlong on horse
4? Footknights
8? Men at arms
Cpt. of Dol Amroth
6 Blackrootvale Archers some spears 1 Banner.
Hey Jacob, really helpful vid, curious to get your thoughts on my easterling list
Host of the Dragon Emp (unsurprisingly) 750pts
Dragon Emperor
- 4x Black Dragons with sword and shield
- 14x Black Dragons with pike and shield
Rutabi
- 6x Dragon Cult Acolytes
Dragon Knight on Horse
- 2x Black Dragon Kataphrakt
- 1x Black Dragon Kataphrakt with wardrum
This leaves me with about 80 pts left and i'm torn with what to finish the list with.
Really great video !
Love these tacticas.
Thanks for the comment mate

Great video! I'd love some feedback on this Lothlorien/Fellowship list I've been thinking about doing:
600 points | 27 models
Lothlorien, The Fellowship
Haldir: Elf Bow, Heavy Armour (85)
3x Guard of the Galadhrim Court (36)
1x Galadhrim Warrior: Banner, Shield, Spear (36)
3x Galadhrim Warrior: Shield, Spear (33)
1x Galadhrim Warrior: Shield (10)
1x Wood Elf Sentinel (25)
5x Galadhrim Warrior: Elf Bow (55)
Rumil: (85)
3x Guard of the Galadhrim Court (36)
2x Galadhrim Warrior: Shield (20)
4x Galadhrim Warrior: Shield, Spear (44)
1x Wood Elf Sentinel (25)
Boromir of Gondor: Horse, Shield (110)
It's a very solid army that covers almost every base. The only difference that I would make is to include 2 Galdhrim knights to be that extra mobility and accompany Boromir. At 600 points with this build I am not convinced that you need both Sentinels so I would consider dropping one of them to get the points that you need
Great video!
Wondering for any of your thoughts on this 500 point Mordor List I’m building for a Good Vs Evil tournament

Great video with great points! I have an 800 pts Minas Tirith list for comment/input, which I'm taking to a tournament this weekend.
1st Warband
Boromir, Captain of the White Tower (armed with the banner of Minas Tirith)
15 Warriors of Minas Tirith (6 armed with shields, 8 with shields and spears, & 1 with a War Horn)
2nd Warband
Faramir, Captain of Gondor (armed with heavy armour & on a horse)
7 Knights of Minas Tirith (1 with a banner)
7 Osgiliath Veterans (3 with spears, 3 with shields, & 1 with a bow)
3rd Warband
Mandril, Captain of Ithilien
8 Rangers of Gondor (just with bows)
4th Warband
Avenger Bolt Thrower (no upgrades)
Any feedback would be appreciated!
I would drop the warhorn to add a few more rangers of Gondor with spear into Madril's warband
Overall its a great list with a lot of potential!
I have not won a single battle with other lists (other than when my opponent failed to turn up). I am thinking of using this list for a competition. The army is of a maximum of 650 pts, minimum of 5 figures and must be in 2 warbands; I think it only fulfils two of your criteria.
1st warband: Theoden (Armoured horse; heavy armour; shield) 100;
Eomer (Armoured horse; shield; throwing spears) 125;
Theodred (Horse; shield; throwing spears). 100;
Eowyn (Horse;armour; shield; throwing spears). 65;
Gamling (Horse; Royal Standard of Rohan). 115 = 505
2nd warband
Grimbold of Grimslade. 60;
Banner 25;
5 Helmingas. 55=140.
Total 645 pts
unfortunately thats not possible for the tournament, each hero is his own warband, you cant have 5 heros in 1 warband. I like th
With this list that is very hero heavy I would swap it into the Riders of Theoden Legendary legion. It will change your compsition quite a lot but play similarly but better. You would drop Theodred, and Grimbold whole warband in exchange for some royal guard mounted with throwing spears

Hey Noah
Saw your message on mine you said you dont have the models for goat heroes which sucks because getting the cav charge bonus and the extra movement makes a huge difference
Id really encourage proxying them a few games just to see how much difference it makes on the board and although costly to make are really worth it in my opinion
@seanleary7739 oh they totally seem worth it and I appreciate the comment! Where did you get yours from as I can't really seem to find them on the GW store?
Had to saw 2 goat riders at the waist and then cut Thorin and dwalins legs off and greenstuff together
There are some good tutorials online ( i used the plastic company ones which was way cheaper)
@seanleary7739 that's such a pain in the ass! Why doesn't GW sell them mounted!?
Thanks for the comment! Bother of these lists are solid. I do agree that doing the conversions to mount Dwalin and Throin will be 100% worth while. In the second army I am a massive fan of Thror so I am glad to see you using him! I would recomend dropping Superior construction. Your range is already massive anyway and you can use those points to get more models.
What do you think of my list?
It's a gundabad army
Azog on Wight warg and armour
2 ogres
1 War bat
1 gundabad orc with banner
6 gundabad orcs with shields
6 gundabad orcs with shields/spear
1 goblin mercenary captain
8 goblin mercenaires
Narzug
3 hunter orcs with bow
2 fell wargs
It's a 700 points army list, and 32 models
Wanna hear your thoughts on a current list I am using and planning to take to a couple events.
500 points Mordor

Crown of morgul
3 11 3 for M W F
5 black numinorians
5 morannon orcs with spear and shield
Kardush the Firecaller
4 black numinorians
3 morannons with spear and shield
1 morannon with spear
1 warg rider with throwing spear and shield
Great beast of gorgoroth
Area it focuses on: courage and terror, shooting (9 bows on the beast), decent on magic. Would be great to hear you thoughts on it though 🤔
Thanks for the comment! Looks like a super fun list, if you haven't seen it yet check out this battle report: ua-cam.com/video/k-y1qPmXHlg/v-deo.html
I really like the inclusion of the single Warg rider.
If you have time, I am a bit concerned about the hitting power of my Dale LL, grateful for general thoughts on this 666 pt list:
- Brand, 11 archers with spears
- Bard II, 8 spearmen with shields + banner
- Captain with bow, 10 knights of dale
- Windlance
Have a good Easterbreak, greetings from Brussels-EU!
750 points erebor reclaimed
Thorin goat orcist 135
8 iron hills spears 96
4 crossbows 48
Dain pig 160
8 iron hills spears 96
4 crossbows 48
Dwalin goat 125
2 goat riders with spears 40
I feel like it meets 4 of the 8 points well and has okay counterplay/inbuilt management for 2 of the others having good shooting/resistance to enemy shooting to force the enemy to come towards you even if you meet 1/3 of the way up the board
No magic and lower numbers are the weaknesses
1) hitting power
Always hitting hard with dain and dwalin S5 twohanded no penalty and mounted and even Thorin can two hand if needed
Irons hills troops are as elite as it comes for foot 1 wound models and can put out pain on most other troops (beornings and half trolls are the main struggle along with decent heavy/shock cav but the 3 heroes can all manage to kill 2 half trolls or beornings in a turn while mounted)
2) manoeuvrability is a big struggle for dwarfs of all stripes
Some speed with goats and 1 heroic marcher is better than other dwarfs but the inch slower will always hurt
a skirmish army can avoid and pick engagements so good pre planning matters but having a plan to make chokes in your board half and let the enemy burn themselves out on the approach
3) Numbers
The numbers are deceptive and as low as youll find outside of a hero only or cav only list
29 models is the trade off of having half the points of the army are in 3 models
But using slow speed to my advantage and setting up choke points and getting crossbow shots out the advancing enemy can easily set the scene for iron hills dwarfs to take on three times their number and reliably hold while the heroes do the offensive work
4) 9 might is good and can be great with thorin if he is just cutting throug troops but max 2 marches all game as id never leave dain mightless
5) Magic...big F here atleast the heroes all have good will? 3s for thorin and dain 2 for dwalin
6) Shooting is solid 8 crossbows averages 4 hits at S4 to kill horses or other priority targets, i wont outshoot armies that don't follow bowcap but shieldwall dwarfs dont fear incoming arrows as 6/4s for s3 means 12 hits or 6/5 for s2 means 18 hits to guarantee a wound so ill sit and trade with decent success
7) Courage
Courage is a non factor while dain is alive....C4 is alright otherwise
8) Redundancy is great 3 big heroes and its hard to stop all of them even thorin can two hand and swing for the fences if needed
Lots of hard models and shooting split into two groups incase of enemy getting a flyer into my back lines early
Iron hills/erebor reclaimed is my army at all points levels
The debate at 750 would be no thorin and take a goat captain and two more goat riders more march and more manoeuvrability
Keen for your thoughts
Thanks
@ConquestCreations thanks for the reply
Hi :)
This video will help many new players so that is great!
I have two armies that I have start with so you can slaughter, okay or it is dissent after what you like! Both is green alliance, on good and one evil.
I give them both 6/10
I understand that in UK many like Mordor and Suladan with his banner. I want to try something not so many plays!
This is 700p army green alliance with Mordor&The Easterlings. 8 Might, only 3 bows and 40 units.
Warband 1:
The Witch King on Armoured Horse with 3 might 15 will 3 fate and Crown of Morgul

Army 2:
Green alliance between Rivendell and Lothlorien with only 6 might (Two heroes), 7 Bows, 29 units, Mostly Fight 6, and an Sentinel:

2 Gladhrim Warrior with Shield and Spear
3 Guard of the Galadhrim Court
1 Wood Elf Sentinel
2 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing Weapons
1 Wood Elf Warrior with Throwing Weapons and Spear

Great video Jacob it was really helpful I’m not playing the game yet but me and a friend really like watching your videos there really fun, and informative we learn a lot watching your videos and while I’m not playing yet we been building list over the past handful of months here is one I edit after watching this video what do you think an advice would be a great help, and let me know if I didn’t anything wrong thank you 😁
First Warband
Aragorn King Elessar on armored horse (leader 240 points)
2 Knights of Minas Tirith with shields (28 points)
6 Guards of The Fountain Court with shields (66 points)
10 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears (90 points)
Second Warband
Gandalf The White on Shadowfax (240 points)
7 Rangers of Gondor (56 points)
6 Warriors of Minas Tirith with with shields and spears (54 points)
Knights of Minas Tirith with shields (14 points)
Third Warband
Ingold Warden of the Rammas Echor (65 points)
8 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields and spears (72 points)
4 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shields (32 points)
Fourth Warband
Mablung: Ranger of Ithilien (35 points)
6 Rangers of Gondor (48 points)
Total model count 55
Breaking point at 27 models
Quartering point at 14
10* might
13 bows
Total points 1000
@@ConquestCreations thank you for the tips I'll keep those in mind when building a other list
@@ConquestCreations That was kind of my thinking as well, thanks for the response!

This is a really solid army, not surprised that you came second place with it. Its ticking a lot of boxes.
Hitting power is great with lots of strength 4, Zagdush and Goroth who both hit hard, and a few morgul stalkers with 2 attacks
Maneuverability is fantastic. Its great to see a drummer in there and the 4 cavalry is plenty
Numbers are obviously great with 51 models
Might is good without being amazing at 9 points.
Having played Mordor, I might recommend either a minor wraith gorabag or shagrat
@@CharlesStevens-e2s thanks so much for the advice! We will proceed like this
What do you think?
Cirith ungol LL - 650 pt
41 models
9 might
3 bows
Fortitude:
Shagrat w/ shield, heavy armour 223 pt.
12 uruk w/ 9 shield 3 bow
Gorbag w/ shield 164 pt
12 orc warrior w/ 1 banner 8 shield 11 spear
Orc captain w/ shield 97 pt
8 orc w/ 8 shield 4 spear
Minor:
Orc shaman - 76pt
4 orcs/4 shields 2 spears
Independent:
Shelob - 90pt
Balin
7 Iron Guards
2 Khazad Guards
5 Dwarf Warriors bow
1 Dwarf Ranger bow, throwing axe
Kings Champ
2 Herolds
5 Iron Guards
2 Khazad Guards
2 Dwarf Warriors bow
1 Dwarf Ranger bow, throwing axe
Dwarf Ballista, one extra crew member
625 Points, 32 Models, 5+1 Might
9 bows + Ballista, 14 throwing axes
My rationale was just to spam out a bit some killy Iron Guards and keep D6 as a baseline with the rest being mainly Dwarf Warriors with bow.

I wanted to run iron hills at 800 points and feel like I have a decent list but I am not sure.
The list is
1 Dain ironfoot lord of the iron hills on boar
12 Iron hills dwarves with spear
2 Iron hills Dwarves with crossbow
3 goat riders
1 Iron hills dwarf with banner
1 iron hills captain
6 iron hills dwarves with spear
3 iron hills dwarves with crossbow
3 goat riders
1 iron hills ballista
Just wanted to see if you had any suggestions on how to make it better.
And I love your content!
Less goats and more spears! The goats are squishy and you really only need three to give you that flexibility to claim objectives
Thanks for the comment, this is an all around solid list. The two changes that I would make are dropping the goat riders down to 3 I reckon 6 is to many. At the same time I would put the Captain on goat with a war spear. This will increase his hitting power drastically
@@ConquestCreations thank you so much for the feedback
I have a Moria Goblin spam list I'm thinking about taking to a local Arda invitational.
Durbruz Leader with 7 Shield Gobs and 7 Spear and Bow Gobs
Groblog with 6 prowlers and 6 Shield Gobs
×2 Moria Captains with 6 Shield Gobs and 6 Spear and Bow Gobs
Moria Blackshield Shaman with 6 prowlers
Moria Shaman with 2 Shield Gobs, 2 Spear and Bow Gobs, and 2 Bat swarms.
700 point Grand Tournament.
68 models, 21 bows.
Thoughts?
As you are flooding the field it should Work. Key is playing the scenario and don't let your bloodlust win so you waste your little guys
I would also spread out all the prowlers to they are mixed up with everything else so whenever you see a trap opportunity you can go for it
Want to try out this 800 point Minas Tirith army at my next tournament.
Denethor:
3 guard of the fountain court w/ shields
6 warriors w/ shield
5 warriors w/ spear and shield
1 warrior w/ spear, shield, and banner
Boromir: banner, shield, horse
2 knights w/ shield
4 rangers w/ spear
Hurin: horse
3 citadel guard w/longbow
2 knights w/ shield
3 warriors w/bow
Ingold:
5 warriors w/shield
6 warriors w/ spear, and shield
Total of 44 models
800 pts exactly
12 might
This is an all round solid army.
I'm gonna run this at a tournament so I can blame my list instead of my lack of skill for losing hehe...
375 points | 12 models
The Serpent Horde
War Mumak of Harad: (365)
5x Haradrim Warrior: Spear (35)
5x Haradrim Warrior: Bow with poisoned arrows (35)
1x Rappelling Lines (10)
1x Tusk Weapons (20)
Hahahah this one should be a lot of fun at least! I don't have much feedback other than good luck!
Going to my first comp soon, any tips for this 500 pointer
Bolg mounted
4 mounted hunters
Narzug
9 hunter orcs with bow
Fimbul
10 hunter orcs
Love the channel, battle reports have helped me learn quite a bit TIA 🤠
Could you tell me which one would be more efficient and more competitive ? thanks !

Irolas captain of the guard
3 warriors of MT with shields
4 rangers of gondor with spears
30 units
Thank you very much !
@@ConquestCreations okay nice thanks !
Thanks for the great video! I'd appreciate feedback on this 800-point Fiefdoms/Minas Tirith alliance. I know Gandalf the White isn't the most popular but I want to try to make him work.

I made an alternative version which has Forlong instead of Imrahil, and uses the extra points to get a banner for Gandalf's warband and a bolt thrower.

500 points Lorien list
Galadriel

1x warrior with banner shield and spear
5x guard of the galadhrim court
Haldir with heavy armour and bow
3x warriors with shield
2x warrior with bow and spear
Comes to 23 warriors, 25 models total, with 8 bows.

Love you video's
Looking to get into MESBG more and want to take one of the elven factions any recommendations would be amazing
All of the elven factions are great in their own way. Lothlorien will be the easiest one to collect becuase they have the most plastic models. I would recomend starting with a box of Galahdrim warriors, Rumil and orophin, then either Haldir or Galadreil and Celeborn. After that I would grab some knights and some sentinels and you will be good to go
Lothlorein-700 points
Galadriel

Rumil
5 Galadhrim warriorwith shield
6 Galadhrim warrior with spear
1 guard of the Galadhrim court

Thanks for the comment. You have high numbers but are missing some key things so I would drop some numbers to free up some points, then I would definitely recomend taking a banner. Especially with a high fight army it will be worth it in ever single game. I would add in 2 more guard of Galadhrim court and have one in each warband. Then I would add in a woodelf sentinel or two. These guys are one of the best units in the game and give you a lot of magical control over your enemy. I would also take 1 or 2 knight with bows to provide some extra mobility.

@@ConquestCreations interesting I was mainly taking the captain because he has heroic march and I hear that is pretty good
@@ConquestCreations interesting thing to note is that if I do swap out the captain with durburtz and fill bid war and up with the maximum amount of goblin warriors I will only have 4 points left and k haven’t even gotten any bows shields spears etc yet so do you recommend me cutting back on the amount of goblins even though I heard this was a quantity over quality kind of faction or just skip out on the weapons
I loooove you Jacoobbb!!
Thanks mate, we have heaps more content on the way!
I am completely baffled as to what to get for men of the west, so far I have the minas tirith battlehost and waiting on aragon to be back in stock
I have thorin's company but no clue how to play them better or if adding allies would help, so far using gandalf properly has been a challenge.
Gothmog, Lieutenant of Sauron (145)
Warg, Shield
5x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9)
5x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8)
1x Morannon Orc (Banner) (32)
Morannon Orc Captain (55)

4x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9)
4x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8)
Orc Shaman (50)
2x Morannon Orc (Shield, Spear) (9)
2x Morannon Orc (Shield) (8)
Orc Drummer (30)
A good army to start out with for the good side at 500 points with the battle host is this:
498 points | 37 models
Minas Tirith
Faramir, Captain of Gondor: Bow, Heavy Armour
6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield, Spear
6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield
3x Knight of Minas Tirith: Shield
1x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield, Banner, Spear
Madril, Captain of Ithilien:
6x Ranger of Gondor: Spear
6x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield
Damrod, Ranger of Ithilien:
5x Ranger of Gondor
1x Warrior of Minas Tirith: Shield
The only thins with the list is that you will need to convert a bannerman or source one separately. To increase the size of this army you can drop any of the heroes to bring in Gandalf
@@ConquestCreations amazing thanks so much for such a thorough response really appreciate! Love your content, keep up the good work!
Hey mate, fan of the channel, wondering if you (or anyone in the comment section) could give me some feedback on this list. It’s a 750 point list off the fall of gondolin so it’s mostly super themey as opposed to competitive:

Thanks for any feedback!
@@ConquestCreations Ok I'll keep that in mind, appreciate the feedback and look forward to more of your content :)
Army of Thror 600pts
Thror 120pts
Guardians of the king Grim hammer str4 (11+1) x15 180
Young Thorin with shield 105
Young Dwalin 85
Warrior of Erebor with shield and spear x11 110pts
Hell yeah I love this list. I love Army of Thror. I have played almost this exact list before. You are obviously super slow, have no shooting, and slightly low numbers. However your hitting power and might is through the roof. This is a list of extremes. In some match ups its great whereas in others its not going to go well at all. One option that is a bit of a meme but also super fun is dropping all the Warriors in exchange for Thrain. He is a beast
Hi jacob,
Im loving the game so far but so far im playing azog legion and i dont know how to make it better with 750 points is mixing with dol gulder a good idea? So i can keep the army bonuses?
My list so far is
Azog for 225 no flail
1 brute
2 war bats
1 banner orc
2 captains
1 orge 2 beserkers
And filling it up with orcs with shields and spears
I am new to the game and starting by getting the Minas Tirith Battlehost, and possibly a Gondor’s Commander pack.
What would be a good piece to add to make that army better?
The Gondor commanders is a gerat start. I would also have a look at the Wardens of Gondor or Denethor. Either set would be a great inclusion. To get more troops I would recomend getting some Guard of the Fountain Court, some rangers, or some citadel guard
Hi, 650 point list for an upcoming blue vs blue tournament
Boromir, captain of white tower with shield and banner (205)
5 fountain guards with shield (55)
5 warriors of MT with spear and shield (45)
Hurin with horse (90)
3 knights of MT with shield (42)
Madril (55)
5 warriors of MT with shield (40)
5 rangers with spear (45)
Avenger bolt thrower with swift reload (70)
647 points, 29 models (heroes and crew), 13 might points, cavalry and ballista for hitting power, ballista for map control, fountain guard and warriors with spear can be swapped in the front line depending on the enemy (terror or strenght 4)
Any advices?
I cooked this one! It's 800 points
Thrydan on horse (3xdunland warriors, shield ; 2x huscarls ; 3x orcs, spear, shield ; 3x urukhai, shield ; 1x warg rider shield)
Gorulf (3xdunland warriors, shield ; 2x huscarls ; 3x orcs, spear, shield ; 3x urukhai, shield ; 1x warg rider shield)
Ugluk (2xdunland warriors, shield ; 2x huscarls ; 3x orcs, spear, shield, 1x banner ; 4x urukhai, shield ; 1x warg rider shield)
Vrasku (10x urukhai, crossbows ; 2x crebain)
was maybe thinking to fit some zerker coz im pretty weak to terror....
Great videos as always I was wondering if you could review my army list its 800 pts army of thor Rivendell allied
Thor
15 grimhammer with kingsgaurd
Young Balin
12 spear shield warriors
Elrond
4 Rivendell knights with shield
6 spear shield elves
1 banner spear and shield
The basic idea of this list was to have a bunch of priority Shenanigans I know it sucks that I lose thors Banner but I'm feeling this list is pretty strong
Talking about building sweaty tournament armies is clearly sweaty business
Hahahaha I'm glad you noticed yeah I've got a problem in the studio that it's not even remotely insulated! I think it was 30+ degrees recording this one
My next 450 tournament list:
Theodred's Guard
Theodred, Shield 85
4 Royal Guard, Horse, Throwing Spear 68
3 Outrider 24
Warrior, Banner, Shield, Throwing Spear 34
6 Warrior, Shield, Throwing Spear 54
Captain, Heavy Armour, Horse, Shield 65
3 Riders of Rohan 42
3 Outrider 24
6 Warrior, Shield, Throwing Spear 54
I generally lean more towards bigger armies with lots of shooting and mobility when playing Rohan.
My evil army is a first for me
Mordor
The Mouth of Sauron, Armoured Horse 85
5 Moranon, Shield 40
5 Warrior, Spear 30
3 Scouts 15
Gorbag, Shield 60
4 Moranon, Shield 32
5 Warrior, Spear 30
3 Scout 15
Ringwraith, 2 Might, 1 Fate, 1 Will 75
4 Black Numenor 36
4 Moranon Spear 32
I don't have any wargriders and felt like the Strike and extra Might from Gorbabg would be worth more than a Captain on warg.

I've got a moeranon orc set and a mordor troll just wondering what I should add next?
I would add some heroes! There are a heap of great options for mordor. I would choose your favorites and use them. Personally I would recomend getting the command pack and then Zagdush and Goroth or Gorbag and Shagrat. You could play a list with a Troll, all the Morranons, a bannerman, Gorbag, Shagrat, and a task master
I've got a really fun 1200 pt army list planned, but not necessarily meant for competitive play.
Angmar allied with the desolator of the north:
The witch king w. 3 might, 15 will, 2 fate on an armoured horse and the crown of morgul: 190 pts
10x angmar orc warriors 50 pts
5x angmar orc warriors w. Spear 30 pts
Angmar orc warrior w. Banner 30 pts
2x Dead marsh spectres 30 pts
Wild warg chieftain 80 pts
8x wild wargs 56 pts
2x dead marsh spectres 30 pts
And of course, Smaug at 700 pts
This army doesn't necessarily follow these rules, but does have incredible hitting power, decent manouverability and magic, with quite good shooting with Smaugs breath attack.
I'm taking it to my local club's tournament

@ConquestCreations having small locals. What armies have a fight 6 warriors?
@@metascrub285 Fight 6 warriors are very rare and generally very expensive in points. The only 3 in the game are High Elf warriors with the Kings Guard upgrade. You can only take this if you have Gil Galad in your army. Palace guard in Mirkwood get fight 6 if they are within 3" of Thranduil. Guards of Galahdrim court are fight 6 and have pikes.
