The world has been sleeping on Lost Odyssey. It’s such a gem and gave me instant nostalgia of FFX. Plus, seeing an 11 year old run up with his fist fully maxed out killing a monster in one shot will never not be amazing.
I wasn't a huge fan of XIII, but I'll never understand the linearity complaints. FFX was just as linear, if not more, because it never truly gave you a really large open area to explore like XIII does.
Fair point. But FFX did allow you to explore the towns and road areas between them. FFXIII was literally like a rail shooter for about the first 80% of the game.
@@frankbrodie5168 completely disagree. The "road areas" in FFX are linear hallways with some short trails to find chests; FFXIII had the same. And both had explorable towns.

Lost Odyssey is awesome. Only thing I have to disagree with you about is XIII-2 being underwhelming. It's by far the best game in XIII trilogy and genuinely has an amazing villain!
Okay, so you can't say that Mega Man 11 was only picked up by diehard fans when sales-wise, it's MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN MEGA MAN 2. For a replacement to the entry, I'd recommend Bloodstained. That is, both the Curse of the Moon games and Ritual of the Night. They were DEFINITELY better than the Castlevania Pachislot Games and Grimoire of Souls. Also, shout-out to LakeFepard, who also released three REALLY GOOD Sonic Fangames around the same time as Sonic 4, released a spiritual successor in Spark the Electric Jester around the same time as those awful Sonic Boom games, and released two 3D titles that are not only able to give Sonic Frontiers a run for its money; the third title pretty much made the infamous Sonic Omens 3D fangame further stand out as an awful and unnecessary fangame.
Also, just HOW am I supposed to direct my complaints to the writers, IF THEY DON'T BOTHER CREDITING THEMSELVES?! It's almost as if they WANT to look like pathetic cowards.
I understand the Bloodborne is a UA-cam darling but reasonable minds can disagree on whether it is a better game than DS3. Moreover, it's kind of harsh to list it as the #1 example of a "spiritual sequel" being better than the actual sequel, especially given all the other games that are generally agreed to be better.
I love how people hate on ff13 for being a hallway for most of the game, while praising ff7 remake. Im playing 7 remake for the first time and i got HUGE 13 vibes for how linear it is
I think one of the big issues with why Story of Seasons has never really seemed to hit as hard in the modern era is just the simple fact that most casual fans (and farming sims are like, the number 1 genre for casual fans) just straight up don't know that it's literally the Harvest Moon franchise. Not a spiritual successor, not a spin off, it's literally Harvest Moon, they just can't use that name anymore. And I don't think that name change has been publicized well enough in the West.
Final fantasy didn't have a single bed entry for years that is just not true. final fantasy 2 exists, some would argue final fantasy 3 fits, let's not forget about mystic quest which was marketed as a final fantasy game. you can definitely argue final fantasy 8 which has a confusing story and where not winning fights is the optimal way to play. final fantasy 10-2 is one you can also argue. And the dirge of Cerberus exists watch a lot of people would call bad
FF 15 also considered a bad title in the series by a lot on the fanbase as well. Even 16 has been somewhat controversial for not even really being a RPG at all
Yeah but we're not talking about anything past 13 plus I got what I wanted with 16 i do want them to go back to proper rpgs but at this point if I can't have an RPG then having a spiritual successor to asura's wrath basically is fine with me

All non mmo final fantasy games are linear. They just don't feel like it because of the open areas to explore and the town explorations. But you always have gatekeeping from areas of the map until the story opens it up or forcibly takes you there and then allows for further travel to such areas. 13 hae no towns to explore excpet empty ones in straight line. It really does operate like a single corridor for most of the game with branches only being to lead to a treasure. There were no npcs to meet, no shops, virtually no puzzles to break up the action. It really was move forward, fight, story, move forward, fight. One could argue this streamlined the whole thing with less filler and non stop action of sorts till you get to gran pulse then it's just exploring around for more things to fight and still no city environments or npcs. With THAT said. I still played the game through, got really into the skill tree and battle systems, and enjoyed it's characters and whack ass story and put over 100 hours into it. So while linearity isn't exactly a fair blanket criticism, it is definitely unique in its linearity compared to the rest of final fantasy examples.
Origami king tried something new and it was incredibly hilarious what the bosses were. Bug fables took thousand year door to the next level. It's unfair to compare the two since origami king is many games evolved since thousand year door.
