7:37 to be sure, each QSFP28 can do 100Gbit, so 4 of them, is 400Gbit right? Never even knew there were Xeon's with that, I am guessing they never really gained interest as it didn't make much of a difference to most workloads? We anyways even had dedicated slots just for NIC's, forgot what that interface is called
Hi there Harira, Yes this one has two dedicated 10GbE slots just for NICs but you can always add more using the omni-path mezz card at the bottom and the PCIe slot. In a nut shell, that QSFP28 acronym stands for Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable and allows for bidirectional traffic. They are hot-swappable and the aggregate of 100Gb/s is divided by 4 so actually only 25Gb per each of the 4 channels of bi-directional traffic. Benefits include longer cable lengths and less clutter with several channels occupying less space. In a nut shell, there are a bunch of different types of SFP cables offering different capabilities. Here is Cisco's data sheet. www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/transceiver-modules/datasheet-c78-736282.html#Productoverview Hope that helps clarify, and thanks for watching and commenting
hello again!, You have not really provided much information on your storage needs but here are a few Supermicro options with different chassis sizes as we are just now updating our Storage server sections. www.itcreations.com/configurator/model/ssg6049pe1cr45l/310 www.itcreations.com/configurator/model/sys1029pnr32r/309 www.itcreations.com/configurator/model/ssg2029pe1cr48l/307 www.itcreations.com/configurator/model/ssg2029pe1cr48h/306 Have a great day!
