    hi quick question i have two videos stacked on top of each other, when i try to cut a piece of a clip the whole video cuts out.

    • @BenjaminHalsall
      @BenjaminHalsall  2 роки тому

      Which layer are you cutting. Can you do a screen recording and share it with me here?

    ur tuts helped me a lot to speed up my project at the position tool, thanks!
    Also, I want to add some iphone photos, but those don't fit to the screen. Spatial Conform/ Fill just crops those at the top and bottom, but it's not the point...

      Hey Fernando - I made a couple of videos on how to make that. This is the first - ua-cam.com/video/NaG7tlcuN_w/v-deo.html and then also this one with the timer included too - ua-cam.com/video/2Pi1MhEuKyM/v-deo.html - hope this helps. Let me know if you ever have any Final Cut questions.

    Hi Ben - Have you produced a video or would you consider making one on the following topic: I would like to take action figures, Star Wars figures, Superheros, Barbie dolls, Mego dolls, etc. and animate their mouths like in South Park. How would I accomplish this? Thanks.

    • @BenjaminHalsall
      @BenjaminHalsall  5 років тому +1

      I have not created that video! But it sounds like a fun one to make! Do you mean still photos of toy figures?

      @@BenjaminHalsall Ben - Thanks for responding. I would like to know how to animate mouths for toys - action figures, stuffed animals, dolls, etc. Please let me know if you produce this video.

    Wonder where the trade-off is - between using the Ken Burns Effect - vs using a Slider at the shoot?

    • @BenjaminHalsall
      @BenjaminHalsall  4 роки тому

      Well when you use the Ken Burns Effect you won't get any image distortion/depth that you would get with a slider. You'll also lose a bit of resolution when you crop in on a shot with Ken Burns unless you shot in 4K and are editing for 1080p.

  • @smackent_9
    @smackent_9 3 роки тому

    Isnt there a manual way of doing the effect with key frames instead of actually pressing the ken burns option??

    • @BenjaminHalsall
      @BenjaminHalsall  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you can animate image size with key frames. I show how to use keyframes in this video too. Did you watch that bit?

    This isn’t the “real kens burns effect”.
    If you know the expert way.
    First put in Photoshop and cut out the object such as the boat. Then put into FCP . Place a key frame there. Then use the background and key frame it. Then move the background cropped water in this example and specifically move it possibly to the back and then specifically move the boat and have it fly forward. This separates each element you cropped in photoshop into an animated nice special effect. What you just described is the basic “photo montage” effect. If your clients want a photomontage this’ll work. But what is taught in film editing school is a much more dramatic effect. Nicely done training for photomontage effect.

      @BenjaminHalsall  4 роки тому

      I guess you are right! So I made a not of this and created a tutorial on how to do the "real ken burns effect" 100% inside #FCPX.
      Hope you like it - ua-cam.com/video/zlTi52RmCAo/v-deo.html

    What resolution does a - still - need to be in... in order to combine it with 1080P vs 4K video?

    • @BenjaminHalsall
      @BenjaminHalsall  4 роки тому

      1920 x 1080 pixels is the resolution for HD and 4K's most common format in 2020 is 2160p or 3840 x 2160 pixels. This is what is currently used by Netflix. So as long as your images are larger than that (most stills taken with a decent camera will be) then you should be good to go.

    Ben. You move so slow. I mean, sometimes I watch your videos and I get the sense you think I'm stupid. Like I could barely understand anything if it wasn't explained in tedious detail for someone with limited intelligence. Which would be extremely annoying, if it didn't turn out to be true. This isn't the first time that I wound up on one of your explanations, feeling completely frustrated by people who explained things without wasting a second.
    Of course, learning from your deliberate, kinda slow videos always takes much less time in the end. And I don't feel like throwing my computer out the window. In fact, I always seem to leave your videos ready to get to work. Thank you. Again.

      Ah yes! The balance between speed, efficiency and getting all that gorgeous detail in there is a real struggle! Working on it everyday!
