i lost my hand in afghanistan, a few years after i got home i got lucky and bumped into clapton in the hotel my fiances family owned, i was working maintenance for them and bumped into him while changing a lightbulb, got talking to him and he even passed me up the new bulb. after 5-10 minutes of chatting i said "i cant play guitar anymore because of the hand" he looked at me with a calm but serious face and said "so? so what if your missing a hand, jeff healey had no eyes and his guitar riffs are unforgettable, just because your missing something important to playing guitar doesnt mean you cant" so i 3d printed an attachment for my prosthetic that could hold a pick, and ive been playing blues licks every chance i get
lovely guy, each day while he was staying there he would pop by the staff room next to the reception and say good morning

@@JelaniStokes i just got lucky, although not as bad as america has it, over here the govenrment barely gives a crap about us veterans, i was lucky because i had a supportive fiance (now my amazing wife) who believed "limitations dont exist unless you want them to", an army buddy of mine lost 3 fingers on her writing hand (same explosion that took my hand, shrapnel that tore through my arm took her fingers), she ended up so depressed i had to drive over and stop her from stepping into a dual carriageway during rush hour. it was actually meeting clapton that really perked me up, i was already on the road to recovering mentally, but the talk i had with clapton while changing a lightbulb really perked me up, music really did save me, even named our daughter "erica" after him

This song is iconic and certainly an anthem from my youth. I am partial to the long version with Derrick and the Dominos but anytime I can hear Clapton, I am a happy girl. Thank you for this reaction. You are forgetting Delaney and Bonnie and Blind Faith.

Once again I must say I didn't know anything at all about this lady, Patty.....anyway Layla is a real jewel,if I could play the guitar I would play Layla at least twice a week...together with the final solo guitar in Hotel California....no doubt about it😄😄😉....thank you again for this interesting video👏👏👏👏

Oh I LOVE the live versions of Heartbreak Hotel! My favorites are both from the Bad tour. The one from Wembley (as you stated) and the one from Yokohama. In fact I did a bass play a long with the Yokohama version.
