    I LOVE that Erwin sounds a mess here because it gives me hope and reminds me that as opera singers we get better every every day! Its great to see someones humble beginnings. Who wants a singer that has sounded good their entire lives? They're boring.

    @operataste Quanto mi piace come parli, a quella eta io stavo ancora studiando, e lui vinceva concorsi. Bravissimo Erwin.

    Orgulho uruguayo.

    @Ysacoelfua With this rendition, he won the first prize on this singer competition. And now is the "Beloved" of the Metropolitan Opera House, in New York. Probably because it is a terrible performance, you are probably correct. All the other opera fans are wrong.

    @Ysacoelfua Dear Ysacoelfua, my ironic nick belongs to everybody here, that like opera. I've seen on stage many singers, like Del Monaco, Corelli, Bonisolli, Caballé, Millo, Casolla, Marton, Domingo, Pavarotti, and SO MANY others. I can be satisfied with Mr. Schrott way of singing, because I have 'reference' to compare, from live performances. Try to not compare video or audio performances, because only live, on stage, you really know a good and a great singer. To me (and to many people) he's ok

      operataste I heard him live. He was fantastic.

    He was fantastic here, the problem that alot of young bass-baritones face, I am alos one, is that there are so few roles suited to them at early stages in thier career. They are forced to sing the high baritone repertoire to make a name for themselves, in a staged version of macbetto he couldn't really play Banquo, this is why he has made a name for himself as Leporello, a role that can be played by a younger bass singer.

    Sì, ha vinto ("Erwin Schrott wins the "Concurso..."). Davvero non so chi era in giuria, ma quando ha cominciato a cantare presto sapeva chi avrebbe vinto il concorso.

    Indeed, I agree with operataste; people admire these singers because of their incredible performances. Very often voices recorded and live sound different. This is not a brilliant recording... You name me another great baritone (aside from Hvorostovsky), who does not merely puff themselves up and try to sing as loudly as they can. And even an opera fan who does not like Netrebko/Villazon would know better than to group them with Bocelli/Potts.

    @bodiloto Blah blah blah, i giovani cantanti, quello qua e questo qua, rimani a casa. Non hai fatto carriera perche non avevi la voce, punto!.

  • @abracadabranque
    @abracadabranque 14 років тому

    @bodiloto Là tu m'étonnes un peu! Il n'est pas basse non plus,ou alors très claire;il ballonne mais n'a pas de cave,c'est pourquoi il n'appuie pas sur la poitrine:Ni le timbre ,ni le diaphragme n'y résisteraient.
    Répond mon grand.Mitia.

    I think the problem was that his coaches and he himself turned him from a bass into a baritone ... I hear a lot of Hvorostovsky and very little terfel here

    @Ysacoelfua Jerome Hines no ha mai cantato queto ruolo, E jerome Hine e' stato un bravissimo baritono, SCHROTT/HINES????. Read and learn, learn and read, you little thing.

    @MrGluki Wenn mich wirklich etwas aufregt, dann sind es solche Kommentare. Man kann alles kritisieren und in Frage stellen. Aber in diesem Ton disqualifiziert sich jeder "Kritiker" komplett. Das ist einfach nur peinlich. Egal ob Schrott gut ist oder nicht.
