The video is 8 minutes and 8 seconds long. I learnt it in 4 minutes and 4 seconds. I played it at 2x peed. You have no idea how crazy and rad it sounded at the beginning!
I am an eternal beginner, with an ok melody hand and so-so stride. I play every day, only for my enjoyment. I love it. I've learned what I know from UA-cam. You are one of the finest teachers on the TubeI Nice work, presentation and clarity. I going to practice the 1-4-5 now.
Not sure why, probably something to do with the way my brain is wired, but when I’m faced with pieces like this with off-beat timing, I find it easier to break it down into the lowest value note. The right hand is fast, but it’s pretty regular, so I’m fine with counting it off as 1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and. But my problem is with the left hand. Instead of thinking of the 2nd note as being on the “2-and” count, I find it easier to think of it in 8/8 time. Then the entire left hand part simply becomes a 3-3-2 count. Same thing actually, and I’m sure bashers will weigh in about splitting hairs. But it’s just easier for me, so I’m putting it out there if it might help people whose brains are wired the same way 🙂

Maybe I missed something, but I assume we should play the left hand where you are playing and not where the sheet music is written (one octave up). Or maybe it doesn't matter; they both sound good. Thanks for the lesson. I hope I can master it as people tell me I need to play "faster" music. I guess I play too many ballads for their taste.
Depends on a lot of factors-- some people are playing full songs in weeks but its about learning at your own pace and making sure you still have fun while you're doing it :)
@@saraheureka Yes! surrounding yourself with supportive people is the key. Also like Pianote said, have fun. Even though I lack confidence, I still push through the doubt and end up having a good time. Just remember that its YOUR journey! Where you go and how fast you get there is up to you.

Could someone please help me understand something in the sheet music - why the left hand note has two ways of playing beats with 1.5 duration - e.g. first note is a dotted crotchet but the second note is a quaver tied with a crotchet. Are these two notes played differently? Thanks for any help
Hi! You’re correct, they’re played the same way, 1.5 duration. I guess that the reason why the second one was written as a tied note was just to align the crotchet with the beat. They probably figure it would be easier to follow or explain, going with the 4-count.

To avoid injury on your glissando down I recommend using your thumb nail. Much safer!
