HA! I knew she knew how to play the banjo! Little known fact that it is actually one of the few musical instruments that was created in America. Most instruments are as old as time. I mean it's like asking who originally came up with the drum or flute. We can all lay claim to those, but the banjo has a certain sound and I love it! Use it well my friend ;)
The instrumental opening of 'City' , those few notes, it's been bothering me it sounds SO familiar. From the 90's maybe.. Oh, I think maybe it's from an L7 or 7 Year Bitch song..?
i love kexp's videos, but they are so excruciatingly awkward because of these ill-informed djs, but how can you keep up when there's a different band in studio 6 days a week.
A bit of a Frankenstein no? Only because of the desperate dots deliberately left unconnected though. As standing reason why there is (and should remain) limited representation of minorities in the American independent music scene? What about all the American Satellites communities across the globe who bought all things Americana, from Baseball to the Beach Boys lock stock and barrel? So much for equal opportunity, bi-lateral trade and the new global village huh?
+weewilly2007 Reminds me of something my brother would say . .I think. He got me hooked on all the best music of the late 60's & early 70's like Savoy Brown, Traffic & so on. He used to like LSD too! Just kiddin' but if you're saying this band is happening, I'll agree, they've got a good sound
Some would see them as sell outs? Or sold offs? Cultural distinction is within the realm of state craft after all. Host nations don't mind making the money though and flogging the wears, Which leaves such end consumers in a bind though Especially if they're seen as liabilities and threats to national/cultural sovereignty by their own countries, and non productive in terms of raising value (mainly in the hard sciences). Importing technology and science from the West, such countries want. Arts, humanities and culture is corrosive and reductive as far as such groups are concerned. But it's not like there are remaining traditional networks, who produce and supply traditional cultural commodities in these markets after all? Mostly have been dismantled in trying to keep up with industrialization and economies of scale right? So what do they become Ruble and Flint stone? Like Barney and Fred. To keep clean up crews in business I suppose, and muscle men employed to keep these chips and splinters in check. LSD? Not so sure about that though? Purview of the CIA, if not FBI, so I've heard. Tripping green hills of an Ivy League University is one thing, freaking out in a low cost tenement in the middle of a concrete jungle is another. Long drop from Harvard to the Hell's Angelsout in the genteel surroundings and rolling

The banjo came originally from Africa and was brought to North America by slaves.

I ain't mad at this. It's a little loose at times but who isn't?
The instrumental opening of 'City' , those few notes, it's been bothering me it sounds SO familiar. From the 90's maybe..
Oh, I think maybe it's from an L7 or 7 Year Bitch song..?
I hear it too. If I find the song it is I will reply again lol it's not bitch though. Maybe and offspring song?
what happened to Cheryl? Seems like every KEXP session I listen to, she is the DJ

Since the 80s I keep thinking music can't get any worse. It can.
Hah why do you say that? What's so bad about this?
The same way it can keep getting better.
It can get better? Let me know when it does.
Music is always changing, and it's just up to the people making it. If you think it should be better, go ahead and make some
Bombenette i like this a lot but I do miss guitar solos haha
the strings? yeah, the voicing is off. something softer and mellower would have been better. clarinet tone I think
Nice one ☝️
How are you doing today?
The host of the show is so nervous... kind a seems like she's in a hurry.
i love kexp's videos, but they are so excruciatingly awkward because of these ill-informed djs, but how can you keep up when there's a different band in studio 6 days a week.
god take the keyboard out of the last song. I really like the last song, that keyboard is just so out of place.

I think you meant "disparate," not "desperate." That said, I still can't tell what your point is.
yes i did mean disparate, thanks. Don't know what I mean. never mind
