@@PetitePrimary I feel a little apprehensive because I'm in my 40's and everyone else will be so much younger. I'll struggle with the assignments because it's been a while since I've written one. On a positive note my phonics knowledge and behaviour management should pretty good. Thanks for asking.

@@rosa32 I'm glad you ended on the positives, focus on those ☺️ In terms of age, don't worry about that at all! You have as much to give compared to a 20 something year old teacher. Regarding assignments, I'm happy to help you if you need support. My details for contact are in the description xx

Hi! I have just found out my first placement so now know where I am going after half term! Do you have any tips on how to make contact with the school? Email or ring? What usually goes down best? I luckily have got a school 15 minutes from me! I may be able to visit it before I go in, would this be worth it? During half term?

Hey! I was wondering if I could get some advice from your (or anyone in the comments). So my SCITT really haven’t told us much about the structure of the year apart going back to our 1st placement in summer term. My mentor today told me I’ll be in year 1 rather than year 4 (where I’m at now with her) and honestly I’m freaking out about it already. I desperately don’t want to work in KS1, to the point where in a years time, I wouldn’t never even consider applying to a job if it was Y1/2. I’ve actually observed the class I’d be taking a few times and oh god are they tough. I didn’t say anything to her but also feel like I can’t ask my SCITT tutors about it either. I just really worry that even though it’s only for just under three months, I won’t cope. I’d honestly rather be in year 6 than year 1 or have my current class seven days a week.
Would you just accept that it’s only three months or would you speak to the SCITT?

Honestly, I dreaded KS1 too. I didn't think I could behaviour management and phonics terrified me. All my experience, including my main placement was in Year 4 too. I ended up loving it. Teachers get moved around all the time so in future at a school, they could put you in KS1 anyway, even if that wasn't your original role. I would seize the challenge and just try it. The SCITT wouldn't change it I don't think, unless there's another year 1 class in the school? Have you seen my video on my KS1 reflection? X
