this is THE BEST break down of anything I"ve ever researched., i hope your still doing videos. thank you man my hub was doing weird things but ithink i understand why now.
Man, i've been having issues with slippage and slack, i THINK you might of helped me out majorly, i'll update you as i give it a test spin! praise the lord its fixed :D
thank you so much for the breakdown, this was really thorough compared to some other guides I've seen I just got my first freecoaster, and after riding it and doing a few hops I noticed it's kind of grinding.. like it doesn't seem like it's rolling smoothly and backpedaling feels "rough". It still rolls it just feels kinda crusty. Any ideas on why that might be?
@@VarmintBMX rough rolling. on a coaster you have the hub bearings and the driver bearing. if the hub / wheel rolls rough it's likely the hub bearings, and they need replacing. it it pedals rough then it's likely the driver bearings. all are replaceable but it's easier to get a new driver that has the bearings in it that to try to get the old ones out and new ones in
@@FreestyleNow thanks for your help! I have taken it apart twice now to try and figure it out. All the bearings seem to roll smooth thankfully but sometimes if I land rough it seems like the driver side bearing pops out a little bit, like maybe a mm or two. Then from then on its 50/50 whether it rolls smooth or rough until I re seat that bearing. It's real strange.
Hi, Ok so i have the same problem but my freecoaster has those not on the axle but on the inside of the axle niear the back and it has no resistance and i have to crank it 2 or 3 times to start peddaling normally help me if u can please and thank you
Thanks for your comment. It all depends on the amount of slack you need. more washers you have minimal slack (pedal moves only a bit before hub engages) less washers you have more slack which is good for some flatland pedal tricks. The amount of washers that is in this hub is for minimal slack. All of the factory amount of washers are being run on this coaster..
anyone here have the saltplus vertex coaster bc mine was skipping bad so i took it apart and the springs that would be under the clutch on the axle just arent there like theres not even anywhere for them to go like the clutch just rides straight on the axle and im confuzed bc ive never seen anything like it someone help me out
basically on my coaster which was never taken apart before the resistence bits he refers too are just not there the axle is just flush where they should be ive never been so confuzed in my life
thanks anyway but i got it figured out there is a spring that runs down inside the clutch rather than through the axle and an o ring at the end of the clutch that keeps the resistence
Hey mate, I have a slippage problem and I thought it was due to lack of grease. I had a look on the inside and my resistance is different instead of having bolts I can adjust its got springs on the inside of the clutch not sure how to fix please help :)
What is the brand of hub and how old is it? Hard to know what to do to help without them answers. If it has springs maybe the spring tension has gone. Have you tried to stretch the springs to then give them more tension?
@@FreestyleNow wow mate I appreciate the fast reply. We the people Helix V3 less than a year old i just had a look at the website and it says it uses an 8 point friction system I'm assuming that's why its different to all the ones I've seen on the net because like I said the springs are inside the clutch the Axel is smooth apart from the spacers and something weird I found its got this part after the spacers ( driver -> clutch -> spacers -> ring with alen keys. I tried moving this ring closer to the driver for less slack as I assumed it was slack adjustment but yeah nah that didn't work
The helix v3 might be a new type of internal system. Can't find any information on the internals via the net. If you have the hub apart grab some photos
@@FreestyleNow neither can I man I had it apart but I'm heading to bed for work and don't wanna get covered in grease again I can open it tomorrow though, how can I show you a photo/video?
Ok so with mine some cranks it activates in a quarter crank then other times it’s like 5-10 cranks? Would with fix it or is it shot, also it activates when rolling back sometimes. Thanks
Not sure about the internals on that one, easiest is pull it apart carefully. Most older freecoasters work all the same. There are a few new ones that have uped the internals to more hi tec
Sorry not sure of the internals of that hub. You could pull it apart and see is they look similar. it may work. sorry cant be of more help with that one. Let us know how you get on
