People in the world’s poorest countries suffer the devastating effects of climate change more than anyone else.
Now, rich nations have agreed to pay into a fund to help countries damaged by the industrial activity of the developed world.
The UN’s climate chief says this ‘will benefit the most vulnerable around the world.’
Some are calling the deal a ‘historic victory’, but others worry it is not enough.

- fund (n) - an amount of money saved, collected, or provided for a particular purpose.
- vulnerable (adj) - unprotected against attack, liable to be hurt or damaged.
1) empty (adj) - meaningless. Exp: an empty promise, empty words, an empty threat. It means you say that but do nothing. I'm not worried about what the boss said in the meeting. He always makes empty threats.
2) Game-changer (n) - something that causes a significant change. The smartphone is a game-changer for people to communicate. High-speed internet has been a game-changer for people who play a lot of computer games.
3) Hot air (n) - it sounds impressive but nonsense, or talk rubbish or nonsense.
The recruiter promised to get me an interview - but I think it's all hot air.
