    That's such a beautiful piece! Well done. Agate Basin is my favorite type too. I watch a number of knappers and they are all good in their own right but your work is my favorite. Your skill amazes me!

    Dear Jesus! I have been waiting for this video for literal months. Your delicate patience produces outstanding results. That KRF can be finicky but it’s so gorgeous once the piece is finished. This is truly amazing Pat. Time to go haft it up and chuck it in a Bison Antiquis. Thank you for taking this request. 🙏

    I love making agate basins. You can start with a pretty narrow piece and still end up with a good point. Pretty easy design too since there’s no need to make them crazy wide/thin, no risky flutes, and no aggravating notches. Just a simple, straightforward, and elegant design.

    Nice blade. Very similar to yours and Jason Newman"s Angosturas.

    That is an awsome point. I watched the entire video while eating 2 bags of extra butter movie 🎬 theater popcorn 😂. I love Clovis/Folsom culture points, but my other favorite points are of the high plains Cody culture. I have one beautiful Agate Basin in my Paleo frame. It too is made of Knife River Flint, but lighter tan. Not sure if its thousands of years of patina that makes it lighter than yours. Its very translucent though. Thanks for an excellent video 😊 Ralph from michigan

    I can't wait for you to try out brass. The harder properties of the metal (like that of between copper and iron) makes it grab the edge still but is hard enough to really send that harder shock and energy in all the way through with less effort.

      Interesting. My experience was very different, but that was a while ago. Hopefully, I'll be better at adapting to the new material than I was before.

    Does this rock remind you of green river chert? Also known as Wyoming oil chert. You knapped it in a couple videos a few years ago. On video it looks like it might.

    • @KnapperJackCrafty
      @KnapperJackCrafty  5 місяців тому

      Hmmm. Good question. I don't remember, actually. The KRF does knap a lot like some types of translucent Texas chert, though.

    I think it wanted to be a Clovis. It wants to be flaked in that direction. I just got some of this type material from Danny Collins. I wanted to see how you tackled it.

    What’s the difference between an agate basin and a haskett point? Looks the same to me

    • @KnapperJackCrafty
      @KnapperJackCrafty  Місяць тому

      Haskett is older than Agate Basin (and older than Clovis) and more narrow than Agate Basin. But yeah, basically the same.

    Jack, when you talk about skill I will say you're very skilled at what you do. Although the type of stone has a lot to do with the flakes you get for the most part. How ,where,when how hard you hit. Etc. Has a big part as far as the caristaristics of the stone. Luck, not so much , skill from what I see is more like it. Just my opinion.🤔👍.😮
