I am the director of this show which was shot 10 years ago and, indeed, narrated by Jeremy Irons. Thanks for your comments. As an update, the volcano has been rather quiet since, with a major exception in 2014, especially on 29 August 2014 when an ash plume rose to 18 km altitude. Smaller explosions at irregular intervals continued through on 30 August. Megapodes, lizards and birdwing butterflies can still be seen around today !
Any chance to find the beautiful music that we hear around 8:00 and again at 22:45? Or was it only composed for this documentary? I'd love to listen more to it :)
You're amazing! Gosh I would love to assist you in these documentaries! How fun that would be! Sometimes dangerous as well. Well done brother! Well done indeed
Amazing! Tavurvur is a unique volcano for sure. Simpson Harbour looks really deep and eerie knowing so many warplanes lay at the bottom of the caldera 🌋🌋🌴🌴
I’m first saw this on PBS when I was home sick from work and I have watched it almost every time I get a nasty bug. For some reason, it is just one of those “comfort” shows for me now. I’m so glad I can still find it.
Such gorgeous cinematography! I looked up the bird wing butterfly and they are the largest butterfly in the world with a wing span of almost 12 inches or 30 cm. That's awesome!🦋
Amazing documentary keep it up 👏 excellent filming of dangerous natural phenomenon . From Pakistan 🇵🇰 Shagufta Fahmid. Nature is really strong and stabilize the life on earth inm harsh environments. Great work

Amazing doco on one of the Pacifics greatest Volcanoes 🔥🔥🌴🌴
These docs are so great, with Irons narrating. Just spectacular. Beautiful script and music as well. Love it. Thank you for making this available!
I watched this series when it was first aired. Love the opening sequence with the Fire Cat.
Great photography. Thank you.
Wonderful! Sound and cinematography in perfect harmony. Thanks for the best doc I've seen in ages.
Just one word - EXCELLENT.
