I remember thinking Miguel was wrong as a kid, like he was reveling in the image people gave him, but as i got older i realize now that he is only enjoying it so much because its an extension of his life in Spain and he already loved it. He wants to have fun, worry about tommorows issues tomorrow. All he cares about is living a joyous life day to day. Tulio is more about the long term, which is why he is the planner, and thus he remains set that Spain and riches, combined with the new addition of Chel will be everything he needs. He misses the joys found in the day to day. They are perfectly balanced opposites
Normally, I hate it when people complain about how they miss the old days and how the new stuff isn't as good as the old, but I really do miss the old DreamWorks that appealed to older audiences, tried different things and used multiple types of animation rather than just stick with CGI most of the time. Granted, they can still make good films from time to time (VERY good even), but it still feels more rare nowadays compared to their beginnings.
Fun fact: the guy that they gamble with at the start of the movie is voiced by Toben Bell. He is the same actor that plays John Kramer/Jigsaw in the saw series

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is underrated ❤. Sad that it bombed cause it led to Sinbad being the last 2D animated film from Dreamworks as CGI became popular at the time due to Pixar and Shrek’s success.
This one is so underrated, I remember owning it as a VHS and then ruining the tape by how much I watched it. And considering the voice cast, Kevin Kline (Tulio), Kenneth Branagh (Miguel), and Rosie Perez (Chel). With the music by Hans Zimmer and freaking Elton John as the singer/Narrator. Can’t believe this movie is 24 years old, I feel old😂

Sinbad was the last 2D movie which honestly in my opinion I don’t think Dreamworks doesn’t deserve to stop making traditionally animated even I could tell that Prince of Egypt and Spirit have a lot of effort put into them the reason they stop because Disney’s renaissance era came to an end after the 90s the 2000s was a bad time for traditional animation
I got to got to Mexico 7 years ago because my mom's friend was getting married and I was her plus 1 (unfortunately, I caught a cold before we went, so I was stuck in the hotel room for first two days instead of enjoying the hotel amenities while Mom was at the wedding like I wanted. I was feeling much better by the third day though. Still very weak, but no fever, cough, or other cold symptoms) and my mom arranged for us to spend one extra day there so we could visit an ancient civilization (I forget what it was. It wasn't the Mayans). One of the things we got to tour was the stadium where they played this ball game! It is exactly like in the movie! The ring was super, super high up on the walls and the tour guild was telling us how they couldn't use their hands. Keep in mind too the ball was VERY heavy. And then we got to the grand finale in the middle of the stadium: the skull. Imbedded in the very center was a skull shaped stone where, believe it or not, the winners would be sacrificed to the gods. They believed that by sacrificing the winners, who proved they were the strongest team, the gods would bless the people with bountiful crops and life giving rain. We got to see a game in action while eating a feast played by the descendants who still lived in the village around the ruins. The game was a safer, not as hard version, but it was still cool to watch! They wore traditional gear and had a priestess come to purify and bless the game zone before, during, and after the game. It was awesome! And no, there were no sacrifices at the end of this game. Everyone made it out alive and well.

I don’t if it’s been addressed that there is a theory that the chief is actually a god in human form which is why he’s strong and doesn’t out Miguel and Tulio because he knows they’re mischievously deceptive but immorally evil. I loved this movie as a kid, because Miguel is me, gold is nice but adventure is priceless and more exciting. Granted it wasnt until I was in high school i learnt he is voiced by Lockhart from HP which was disappointing-not because of the actor but Lockhart pisses me off, which Kenneth Branagh did well at doing. The music is incredible Elton John was a perfect choice. Now, I wound up digging to see which Dreamworks you have or havent seen and noticed I haven't seen some of your reactions to some films, that'll be fun to watch next few days. Ones you may not have seen- Flushed Away and Antz are really good. Antz is the adult version of A Bug's Life, I preferred Antz as a kid compared to others, as I loved the message in it better than Bug's Life.

Remembered seeing the previews of the film growing up on VHS from Prince of Egypt and Chicken Run. Did watch the film for the first time two years ago actually, but the film had a banger soundtrack 🔥❤️, the animation was beautiful, the plot was fun and intriguing, and the two voice leads was catchy and priceless together with amazing chemistry.
There are some plotholes in this movie like the the way they understand each other immedeately /no language barriers but even that does not make this movie less entertaining.
