Love the real life packing examples. Helped me a lot with choosing the right model, thank you!

I'm guessing the example with the 12 beers in the bag was the most useful and practical example :)
On a serious note, Thanks for your positive feedback, I'm happy this video helped you!

Thank you. I decided to go with the DTX. I might never need the paniers, but Bette to have and not need than need and not have. If I do need them, then I won’t need to buy a second bag.

Thank you for the review. We have found that the side pouches work well for holding extra battery chargers for our cellphones. We can run the wire from the charger right up to the handlebars if needed on a long tour.

They should have made them like the ones that have the panniers, only without the panniers.

Love the review! I think I can deal with the cons you listed and I like the convenience it adds on my commuter bike.

I may recommend the Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DX (not DXP). It has:
    1. better side pouches (big ones, I am keeping there bike tools, including portable bicycle pump and bag strap), but not expendable so it is compact and looks sleek
    2. expendable main chamber
    3. rest is the same

Weighing up pros and cons now, think I'd prefer pockets over panniers

I don't know if this model comes with the extra shoulder strap. If it does you could make a security device from some plastic coated cable threaded through the strap eyelet and wrapped around the frame then padlocked in place.

LOL I'm 54, the "looking cool on my bike days" are far behind me. I ride for fun & fitness and having the ability to take stuff with me or pick up stuff while on the road is awesome. I have piles of panniers, trunk bags, handlebar bags, grub bags, etc including the same Topeak on my fatbike.
One note on your comment on cargo and bike stability. Your Cannondale (Synapse I think) is a short wheelbase road bike made for speed and pedalling efficiency, NOT so much cargo. A proper touring bike (Surly Long Haul Trucker, Kona Sutra) or even most modern adventure bikes will have a geometry and kit that will handle loads better e.g. longer wheel base, wider tires, slacker frame angles. You're like the Honda Civic guy at the Home Depot loading 30 bags of concrete into it LOL. The Civic wasn't made for that kind of cargo. Will the Civic manage? Sort of. But the drive won't be as pleasant as it would be hauling 30 bags of concrete in a vehicle designed for hauling e.g. a full size pick up truck 😉.
    Cheers

The expandable option does cost more but has vastly more storage.

Hi nice video, said you were including a link to the rubber clamp but I don't see it. Where did you get it from ?

Would ortlieb pannier fit on the sides?

    • @atropineman3541
      @atropineman3541 Рік тому

Yes, just about any pannier can be attached to the side rods, this rack has the slide attachment specifically for that top bag to keep you in the brand but, it works well for anny bags.

Cons: bike without rear fenders will get the bag dirty and then if u carry round the dirt will get to ur clothes, house etc…

Actually I think the rack itself prevents mud and water hitting the bag
