My personal favourite animated trilogy, the story, animation and score are just perfection 👌
for me it is between this and kung fu panda but i love both
Its short films, TV specials and TV shows are also good.

DreamWorks had a crazy good period, making two superb trilogies (How To Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda) and a couple of stand-alone movies (like Rise Of The Guardians) in between. They simply 'hit their stride' in this era.
They made great movies before, and they're still making great movies, but in that period, they were making some of the best movies from any studio.
During that era I always wondered why Toy Story 3 got an oscar over HTTYD as they were in direct competition with each other... and I did see both and thought Dragon was much better. Pixar was the nostalgic darling or something.

Oh yeah. This isn't just _one_ movie, not even just a _trilogy_ of movies, but an entire _franchise,_ with animated specials and a TV series that take place between the main movies. And they're _all_ good!

Hands down these movies are the best movies i've seen in my childhood. It had a blast when i got to watch these with my nephews this year.
This a rare trilogy that gets better with each movie, great choice.

I also watched this movie and desperately wanted a dragon. That's some good storytelling.
(Not a surprise, though. I knew I liked dragons. Moana surprised me because I had not known that I wanted to be a seafarer.)

Oohhh, they're just starting to see this trilogy. I knew it was gonna be a good reaction when Toothless accepted Hiccup, and you could see in their faces their hearts were melting.
I love the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy so much! It's emotionally draining and fulfilling. I'm actually quite hesitant to see reaction videos to this because it is so dear to my heart. However seeing your prior reaction videos and how much you guys like animal themed movies. I was more eager to check out your reaction to this. Personally the 2nd is my favourite, the 1st is my second favourite and the 3rd one is my least favourite but only because the comedy is bad

THE BEST TRILOGY, i lost the count of the amount of times i watched this movies.
I think the director said in an interview that the dragons were made to be a combination of horses, dogs, cats, and snakes.
Michelle did you listen to what Ellie said at 32:05? She said "Toothless can't..." She meant Toothless can't fly because he lost his tail in the fire and Hiccup was knocked off so he doesn't have a rider to guide him in flight. So Toothless wasn't saving Hiccup, both Toothless and Hiccup were just falling into the fire together. After falling into the fire Hiccup suffers a transformation. Death is often noted by transformation. For example Caterpillar to butterfly, flesh to spirit, human to angel, do you see it now? Hiccup's father always wanted his son to kill a dragon. Hiccup did finally kill one in the end, but it cost him his life. All that is taking place after he wakes up like getting respect from the people that hated him, Astrid, and uniting dragons and their bitter enemies the vikings is all taking place in his afterlife. For me the clue that the Night Fury being described at "Unknown" and "The unholy union between lightning and death itself" is enough to see that Toothless is really death. Hiccup in the end is griped and wrapped up in the wings of death when they fall into the fire together. Some may say that is a sad ending, but look at it this way. Was Hiccup loved and respected by his people or Astrid? You said it yourself "Toothless doesn't like her." Why doesn't toothless like her? Because she's mean to Hiccup and despises him. The whole town didn't even want to stay behind to look after him. Toothless or Death spared Hiccup of that life by taking him and in death giving him a new one. Death in this case isn't sad, but its an act of mercy and Toothless, his best friend, gave it to him.
What an awful and morbid way to interpret this! 😧🙁
@@bigdream_dreambig I'm sorry you feel that way. I really am. When I first saw this movie it was apparent to me then Toothless was death. What color is the sky in death? Are there trees in death? No one knows because death is the great "unknown" - like the night fury.
That is... a really interesting take. Seems like a valid way to see it, tbh, although I prefer to believe in *living* happily ever after. So I'm going to keep my fluffy understanding firmly in place. But you see it the way you see it, dude. Not gonna argue. Well, except for one nit-pick. Toothless didn't like Astrid at first, but he changed his mind after she apologized. Toothless doesn't speak English, but I believe the dragons are all some sort of telepathic/empathic - that's how the alpha controls them. So once she got her attitude right, he was cool with her.
@@PamJernigan You're right about Toothless changing after she apologized. It wasn't only with her, it was also with his Dad. Toothless only opened his wings to show him his son after his Dad apologized. Redemption is another death trait. This is further evidence the night fury is almost code for death in this children's movie.
The three main movies a classics. You should also check out the short films, television specials, and TV shows.
Like the Kung Fu Panda franchise (which is also DreamWorks Animation, just like HTTYD), the How to Train Your Dragon franchise is mostly CGI-animated, but also has 2D-animated segments.

When I first saw this movie I had a dream that I was flying not with the dragon but by myself high in the clouds away from all the BS problems. But then I woke up and I got mad then I had to go to school yippee 🤣🤣😉👌👍.

One of my all time favorite movie. BuildABear has a baby Toothless Plush Toy. Bought several of them&gave them as christmas presents to my nieces and nephews several yrs ago when the movie first came out. Got some of them myself. There's also the tv series which is supposedly based on after the first movie&then the second movie. Don't forget to watch the Christmas Special too.

Well your gonna have a good time watching this series I love it so much. Toothless kinda reminds me of my cat it's cute.
'I want a dragon'. a sentiment that basically everyone shared in 2010.
It was very kind of TJ Miller to wrap this series up, along with all its spin-off shows, before going completely batsh*t insane.
I feel so sorry for your dog, he just doesn't understand why the humans are getting upset, he just wants to help.
